I dont log in and play anymore and I havent for some time. I just cruise the boards now and then after an update to see what ppl feel about the new content and if its still worth my holding onto. Honestly I am waiting until the next roadmap before I completely close my account. If they are going to give us another HUGE expansion I will stay to check it out but if its just a few little things I will cancel completely.

And I LOVE how ppl who havent played xiv since just after beta or havent played it at all like to dog on it. "I will NEVER play another SE title EVER!" Sure ya wont. The fact of the matter is they are spending money on xiv, and alot of it, but not on xi. XIV is suffering from lack of content atm due to them fixing what tanaka broke but come feb in one of the major updates we get every 2 months, the content is going to start coming in and continue to do so until v2. It was even said the first xiv expansion is in developement. Seemings our server has about 1k ppl on it at any given time even tho its a 'fail game' should show how its progressing.

XI players are so raging against XIV its almost comical. But I bet you no matter how much u rage or deny, you will end up on xiv at some point of time

So, you really think its such a far fetched idea that people are so upset with a company, that they would refuse to pay for anything else from said company?

When it comes to gamers.....yes

All they have to do it wave an exciting title around that gets some positive reviews and ppl will buy it, regardless

Well, the first major hurdle is for FFXIV to get one positive review.

In the end though, does it really matter? They are still taking money that you willingly give them and use it on what they want.

It would be like me going "man, I really hate the grocery part of Wal-Mart but I like to buy my games there. The money I give them for games better only go toward the electronics department to carry more games I want!"

So if say HBO just stopped using your subscription fees to license new movies, and make new shows, and decided to spend it on say an oil line through kuwaite, you would be ok with seeing the same shitty shows for all eternity?

Considering HBO has nothing to do with oil companies, your argument makes no sense.

Defend it all you want to the damage is done. I won't say its impossable for a game to recover from a bad launch just that its never been done and with SE track record these past few years they won't be the first. Yes I can never "buy" another SE title yet still play the good ones on the used market. That hurts SE and at this point in time they need to be punished. That is how companies learn.

Also "your server" has 1K players at peak is fact that its not the norm. Other servers barely get 300 to 400 at peaks and are getting merge(its going to be eatten alive in the reviews). It may one day recover the cost but damage has been done and the true cost will not be know for years. Also like I been saying whats to stop them from pulling the same crap with FF14 when its starts to become dated will they milk your MMO to fund another or will they update it. Will they cut the dead weight of a console if it started to hold back the game? Another fact is 1mil people may not bother with FF14 and after the crap they did with FFXI to push out 14 the mass player base migration they had hope for will also not happen.

While SE might not go under. They will keep merging with other comapnies to get thier hands on titles they haven't burn to the ground to stay a float, oh wait they just did that not long ago. Then their is the the other MMOs that are better then anything SE could dream of producing.
