Not necessarily. We can actually go to the Square Enix Corporate Website and read the annual report to investors. It more than likely will actually list how money is being allocated to specific projects, and also where that money is coming from.

In the end though, does it really matter? They are still taking money that you willingly give them and use it on what they want.

It would be like me going "man, I really hate the grocery part of Wal-Mart but I like to buy my games there. The money I give them for games better only go toward the electronics department to carry more games I want!"

So if say HBO just stopped using your subscription fees to license new movies, and make new shows, and decided to spend it on say an oil line through kuwaite, you would be ok with seeing the same shitty shows for all eternity?

That was actually the point. FFXI has nothing to do with any of the other games they make. When they stop development or bring it to a crawl and spend the money I paid for the service on some other game, I don't get what I paid for. Someone else does. In your walmart analogy, this would be like them taking your 100$ in grocery money, and giving you $50 worth of groceries, and then giving the other $50 to a guy over in electronics to build a nifty home theater display.

Its pretty dumb to pay the same amount every month for a service that continuously degrades because the money that should be spent on managing it is being spent on completely unrelated expenses.

I think you are totally missing the point though. People saying "all the money we are paying is going to fund XIV!" are pretty much wrong when all the money we pay for XI goes to everything SE makes as a whole.

I mean, if thats the case, were do they get money to make other games from? Hell, you could say that FFXI's profits paid for XII, XIII and XIII-2 as well. Its not like that just funded its self.

Im paying 12.95 for FFXI, and im still getting that back. It's not like im giving them 12.95 and they are only giving me half a month of service.

I'm just saying, stating it is SPECIFICALLY going to XIV is wrong.
