As has been said numerous times the conditions required the meet the necessary threshold for the ability to remove someone from a linkshell to work are so completely counter intuitive in a situation where you would want someone removed from a linkshell to begin with as to make not even the slightest shred of sense.

It is so far removed from good and common sense that it functionally does not exist. That is to say there is no real difference at this point between having no command at all, and having the command as it is implemented. And so, it needs to be implemented as soon as possible. Even if it is only that command for the time being, as it is fundamental to the administration of a linkshell to be able not only to add, but also remove, members at will.

I should simply add that it made no sense from the outset that any LS command should be bound by proximity to other linkshell members except for the actual trading of the pearl to that member upon entrance into the LS. Especially given that LSs allow players to communicate freely across the whole of the game regardless of location. Conceptually speaking LSs aren't a location centric means of socializing, and so the commands associated with them should follow suit.

Three paragraphs longer than anticipated. In short, get'er done.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to hold onto any hope that these "big" changes they are making will be worth sticking around for if they can't get the tiniest and most basic of issues worked out.

I quoted Tonka and AngryNixon in the following thread:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...nt-Recognition

I'm also concerned with the lack of recognition of this issue and have proposed that they give it a dev-tag. The little recognition this issue has received doesn't mesh well with some information from the "Letter from the Producer" posts. I think I've already posted that in this particular thread but you can also note that communication and socializing has been an issue since the first "Letter from the Producer".

However, I do not think that SE has done a good enough job of listening to the players concerns about this issue. Below is a list of links to forums about linkshell management (or lack of) since March. I apologize if i have missed some but my eyes started to burn after awhile. But with this overwhelming number of posts and forums why isnt there a dev tag for linkshells?

not tpo bump the thread but you guys are kinda being pathetic at this point. They told you what was up. Deal with it. There is alot more coding involed then you might think. And also ffxi never had a remove offline member option. Only a kick from anywhere option that was abused very quickly. I'm kinda happy removing members is a bit hard. Means you need to work harder on making sure the members you add are good.

You guys are letting people bug ya. Honestly how long do you wait before a huge list of people are "inactive" a week a mnth? Preferable id wait 2 mnths and 30 inactive people before letting ppl know of a LS remake.

Here is an idea for members make a temp trial LS and a main LS. When you meet new ppl put them in the temp LS that has a few member from the main, so you get a feeling for people.

This is a general discussion thread, and it happens to be a topic that a lot of people are passionate about; whether we have been told "what was up" is irrelevant and calling people pathetic doesn't help. If you really feel that way, why even make a post on this thread? o.O

And that is exactly the state of play for a lot of Linkshells at the moment... when the servers were shut down after the earthquake, a lot of people did not come back. Doesn't mean that they may not return a few more months down the line, but there is no certainty at this point (unless new content draws everyone back, which of course it may well do). Why do you assume that people do not wait a reasonable amount of time before making this type of decision?

Yes, LS leaders could make a temporary "trial" LS for new members but, why should they have to? That is what is up for discussion: why can they not have the functionality to recruit all of their members in one place and if they become inactive for several months remove them from the listing?
Also by having a temporary LS not only would you have to catch the player in game somewhere to give them a LS pearl once, but then after a month or two find them again to give them another pearl to the main LS.... Players should not have to do twice the legwork. Yes it is a workaround, but players in these threads are (in my opinion quite rightly) voicing their opinions as to the functionality that they think LS administrators should have.

If SE decide not to give Administrators a way of getting rid of inactive members from the list, fine. But, they should know through discussions like this that it is a heavily desired function along with a lot of "basic" others.

This has been pointed out so many time before, but never success on the goal, so new people have to keep making new thread time to time. Hope this will be the last time. Please follow it, so no more replicate thread is needed. It is fine even if it is just command such as /ls remove "Player Name"

So what you are saying to us in short is I am now just rank 3 I have not played the game in forever if even at all, you barely login but maybe 1-2x a month and expect to be in a good LS. Here is an idea for you actually run a LS on a daily basis keep track of the trends as to when people have logged in and then give an opinion. Many of us expressing our displeasure on the current situation or lack thereof actually do have spreadsheets and data to backup our displeasure for the ability to have to remake and not just be able to kick those who no longer login.

2700 posts and you still have no clue about anything in this game, your "Disclaimer" at the bottom of your signature proves this. You have not experienced most of the game, you do not have every class leveled above 30, have not selected a job and actually created it. You have not actually fought any of the "End Game" NM, so you really know nothing about how this game works or runs.

If you have an opinion fine whatever, but calling LS leaders pathetic because we want to properly manage our linkshells is absurd.

Sad when you cant spare one dev to write up a few lines of SQL and tie them into some text commands sent from the client, cause that would take what a whole day for one person? why dont you just admit theres about 3 people working on this game. or does the famous Japanese efficiency not apply to writing software?

The funny thing is, I can't think of a situation where they would have to add any code at all to fix this. They probably need to remove code, most likely removing or modifiying a where clause in a sql statement.

This thread should really stay at the top of the forum 'til it gets fixed. It just makes no sense at all to just ignore it. The problem is a detriment to the community in game and should top the list of dev tasks. I'd be happy if 1.18 were delayed to add this, as again, it's essential.
