Can we have the hellhound gearset available to buy with Trophy Crystals?

That's the only unobtainable thing that I want back, really. We have the hellhound weapons, the hellhound barding but the hellhound gearset is lost in time forever. If possible make it glowy like the weapons, something that you can spend by achieving high ranks in ranked CC.

This topic along with various related Feast rewards gets brought up regularly in the PvP section of the forum and generally repeats the following key points:

1.) Rerelease is okay, if the prestige of the original is in some shape preserved (item quality, rank stamps, calling the new replica)

2.) Should definitely be part of Ranked. Not necessarily top 100, think of how Overwatch 2 handles competitive points for gold and emerald weapons.

3.) Yoshi P having a repeatedly clear stance of not wanting to rerelease feast top 100 items and JP players liking the prestige they bring for top performers.

This includes the Feast Season 5 Hellhound Armour. Frankly I'm stunned why they'd drop that set in the benchmark selection when hardly anyone can have it, unless they have a plan to rerelease it.

Can you please elaborate on point 2?

All of the previous Feast sets and Hellhound armor should be available in 7.X but for a tremendous amount of trophy crystals or wolf marks. Like 20,000 each piece. And they can name the set differently like "Pretender's Shadowcleaver Set" or "Replica Shadowcleaver's Set" as stated above to differentiate it for people who earned it originally.

I wonder how many Times Yoshi P will have to say NO until they get the drift.

I don't get the 'prestige' argument, top ranked Feast was FULL of people just buying win-trades so a lot of the people that have those older super rare Feast armor sets weren't legitimate, so why does it matter? Maybe over on JP they didn't do that, don't know since they also claimed to not use mods and then got caught raiding from the Hubble telescope, but on NA it's not a secret that there was a LOT of problems with Feast.

Just put it on the battle pass system they have currently with the Fierce Tyrant or whatever and be done with it, there's no point restricting entire gear sets to like 100 people per server when there's very few people that actively use it anyways, just keep the mounts limited.

Sure, in a nutshell the Overwatch 2 Ranked currency system works like this:

• Get a small amount of points for wins (10) and draws (5) regardless of rank. Unlockable in question is 3000 points.
• Unsure if it is still in Overwatch but would suggest it anyhow for FFXIV - a bunch more points for end-of-season tier reward
  (i.e. more points if you are in Crystal > Diamond > Platinum > etc., like with Trophy Crystals now, could always give a bonus to Top 100/30/1)
• Gold Weapons are always available, Emerald/Jade weapons are the year 2024/2025 reward. For FFXIV purporses would drop the latter for now since we don't have Ranked Top 100 rewards to cycle through anymore (sadly)

Basically, it incentivizes you to keep playing and winning, it incentivizes you to score high - but at the same time it will NOT lock you eternally out if you do not score high, so even a Gold, Silver or Bronze player can eventually reach something.

This is "actual" ranked currency, not the meme we call Trophy Crystals (lol) or Commendation Crystals (why is it Diamond+ only, not a wolf collar replacement).

To add to this post, why not a proper Ranked currency rather than Trophy Crystals / Wolfmarks? If anything lower-rank Ranked PvP could use the incentive over using the casual currencies (Trophy Crystal shop really needs a viable sink and the old Battlepass items though, for real now). Would also probably be easier to stomach for those who have fought for it.

Can you prove your claim and can you show statistics how many did it relative to how many were legit? I do not deny they exist, but I am a bit tired of the "wintrader/cheater" argument when there have been (most likely) vastly more legit players for whom the prestige and achievement mean something than bad actors. The existence of wintraders, cheaters and cheats does not mean the majority did it, thank you.

Battle Pass is a terrible suggestion. See above post for a better system.

The first 4 Seasons were okay. There were not many cheating players cause the game wasn't as big as it is now and there were not many cheats "developed". After that, third party stuff grew rapidly. Especially during the Shadowbringers Expac.

Still no Reason to rob the Veterans who did it legitimately. Also Yoshi P said no on quite a few occasions now. I guess it is to much to hope for people finally stopping to beat the dead horse.

-Like my friend has GreatSerpent of Ronka parasol, a competition reward, and when you browse through those fashion accessory things, it has little marker on it, i guess to signal that: "wow, this person did a thing and won this one!".

Maybe in future, where that parasol is thrown in Mogtomes, the mogtome bought parasols wont have the "yay you won!" mark. Prestige saved.

"Dying" is exaggerated, because competitive reward structure was not what caused the issues for this game. It was Bobby Kotick's vile monetization scheme and how he basically forced things on the OW team, which led to the downfall of PVE, because there was no pleasing this man other than exorbitant amounts of money for the least amount of content given. The game is currently in a healing stage and as much as people will forever miss the PVE that was promised, they are 100% giving their all to improve the core game, the PvP.

Just because a game has aspects that caused it to have a downfall does not mean that the ENTIRE game has zero things to draw from. The competitive currency system is legit and I'd like to discuss this not by talking down the game's past but by the present of this particular system. Not the cash shop, not the missing PVE, not the 5v5 vs 6v6 debate - just the competitive currency system.

They made the initial claim and I asked for proof because I do not see Top 100 players in the same way they do. They have, by definition, the burden of proof for being the first to claim their argument to be true. As I said, I do not deal in absolutes and I did not deny the existence of cheaters and cheats. All I said was that the existence of them does not automatically translate to the majority having done it.

You on the other hand are now arguing that because I have done so that the burden of proof falls onto me and ridding it off them. That is called "argumentum ad ignorantiam" - argument in ignorance (or appeal to ignorance), a logical fallacy to shift the burden of proof unjustly. Please read up on the sources before you do try to argue in their favour like this.

[1] This is about Top 100 "The Feast", not post-6.1 Series/Battlepass rewards. Nobody claimed that they should not return, in fact hundreds if not thousands of posts were probably made across all language forums that they should return - if for nothing but the initial presentation, that Trophy Crystals should allow you to buy Series rewards when you missed them at the time. [2] Should it be? No, but it is and it is working. We can either vote with our wallet and unsub during such periods or don't. Also there is a difference between legacy/performance based "fomo" and "we are asking you to do these 5 quests to get some rewards"-fomo. The former actually bears meaning to their respective origin and/or had to be earned in competition, the latter purely exists to drive subscriptions.

[3] Nobody argued against having newer items. Also it's a bit dismissive to say they would not care for it except for petty and vapid exclusivity. As one of them who holds one of Light's S19 armoursets, all we ask for is for the original achievement to still be readable by any small margin ingame. At most I'd ask for the rerelease to not be "too" easily earnable to at least humble the original obtainment method of Ranked PvP in general.

[4] Frankly I and various other Top 100 players have made the opposite experiences where players would approach us and actually be amazed by what we accomplished ingame. Also, the current system is arguably more gameable due to the inability to drop lower than Platinum 4. We did not have this safeguard back then, nor was the game any easier than it currently is. In many ways it was more difficult, including going unnoticed as a wintrader (given the most popular role for this was most likely Healer).

That is a vile argument. "Who's fault was it that there even is legacy players"? Legacy players stuck around when the game was at the worst stage ever. They have every single right to their exclusivity and benefits as the game's first supporters. Just because some corporate megalomaniacs absolutely doozied 1.X due to hysterically terrible decisionmaking regarding the engines and being "the one at fault" does not mean legacy players should have to forfeit their exclusivity, good grief.

First of all, we can turn the "petty response from players who like have/have not" the opposite direction. The main reason people are mad about the exclusivity of these items is because they can't have them, not because they necessarily want them. They like to have access and don't like others having what they don't have.

Second, the exclusivity of Top 100 PvP is literally in the name and no amount of shaming players at the time for a set of bad actors will negate what a lot of players had to go through and had to actually hone their gameplay for to compete for top reach the rank they did. Argue wintraders and cheaters (at the time this was fairly underdeveloped btw) all you want, it was a competition and the legit players want to keep at least some form of representation for their achievement.

On your last point, the only way this would have value is if it incentivized a duty type that actually would benefit from it. If it is completely obtainable by doing Frontlines/Rival Wings and Casual CC, then you lost the plot because neither of these two modes need additional incentive, therefore there is no value to put them into rotation for a casual currency.

Except there is value, the same value as there is in the current PVP gear rewards, people who otherwise would never touch PVP are now doing it so they can earn rewards they want, which is entirely the point of the content, even Feast the point of getting top 100 was to get the special gear, mounts, and titles.

Having more rewards for new players to incentivize into getting into PVP is a good thing.

You know, I've encountered numerous 1.0 players who've expressed openness to the idea of the Legacy Tattoo being accessible to others. It's worth noting that Legacy players are also rewarded with reduced subscription costs compared to those of every other player at 2.0 and beyond, yet that's not something anyone is asking for.

Honestly, full transparency, I'd be totally fine if we could unlock 'legacy' dialogue/tattoo by paying some exorbitant fee, like I'm talking 100$ for an unlock, even that would be better than "No you're not allowed to be the actual Warrior of Light, you're just a fake." like we currently have.

If it's for exclusivity then slap a 'Replica' suffix on the returning gear so people who earned it originally don't lose their 'exclusive' status, if that's not good enough then I just think you don't want people to get access to the gear you're clearly very proud of earning.

Boa-Noah, you are misunderstanding my point.

My personal stance has not been "they should not add this because it has no value". What I am trying to say is that they should readd it, easier to obtain, but not by the measure of playing Frontline and Casual Crystalline Conflict, both of which have a healthy and active playerbase in the first place. My suggestion is, similar how I described it in post #2 of this thread to incentivize the play of ranked PvP, even at low ranks. This includes Bronze.

What I am trying to say is that it is best implemented as a healthy middle ground between the old guard who wants to retain a modicum of the prestige and the new players who want to be encouraged to PvP. Ranked PvP is literally the best place for this, especially if you do this as I explained on page 1.

Again, your solution is to add an entirely new separate system JUST to justify your and other Feast players need to be special, why bother? Just add it to the current PVP system that works, people like it, it incentivizes play, if anything make ranked award more points than casual and boom you'll have more people playing ranked (not that it matters.) I really don't understand your viewpoint on this, you have the gear, clearly, you like the way it looks and you achieved something that was hard years ago, congrats, why do your feelings require a middle-ground in the first place?

I feel like I need to explain this better.

I am not here to create a system to justify "me and other feast players need to be special", I am here to hit a middle ground with something that is desirable and something that has been in dire straits for at least 8 seasons because there has been virtually zero reason to do it and all of you are perfectly okay with it, completely ignoring whether or not people would LIKE to step their foot into ranked AND not feel like they do it for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The current system incentivizes PvP in general and it works really good for what it does. What it does NOT do is incentivize doing ranked. Have you even looked at what you get for any of the skilltiers from Bronze to Crystal, completely disregarding Top 100 for a moment? 1000-6000 Trophy crystals and carbon copy Framer Kits season after season with the only difference being the season number.

There is absolutely no point increasing how many more points you are getting in Ranked because players will resort to path of least resistance. We have Wolfmarks and Trophy Crystals coming out of our ears from how much we are earning just for playing PvP because we like it, why the heavens would we want MORE?

I am asking for a middle ground not because I want my armour to remain special - I am asking for a middle ground because Ranked PVP in the western datacenters NEEDS HELP because it has NOTHING going for it and these rewards as an incentive with a ranked-only currency obtainable at all ranks would be THE BEST solution! What is so difficult to understand about this?!

I mean, you should do PvP because you like PvP, not because you get something from it.



Imagine if they made Raid drops go away after the tier ended. or after the first 100 clears. People would go nuts. Why did PvP get that?

I hear this comment every now and then. By your logic, why should roulettes have had the further and further increased tomestone and EXP rewards? Why are we complaining about Criterion having no rewards? Why are we arguing that we don't want to do other Alliance Raids but ARR because their rewards are not worth the time investment?

Are we really going to be this hypocritical and call exceptions for PvP and say "you should do PvP because you like pvp, not because of rewards"? You know, you should just do roulettes and raids for the fun, it should just have a colourless non-glamour gear and no mounts tied to it - in the most reward-driven community that is FFXIV.

The other argument "imagine if they made raid drops go away", another fallacy I have explained ad nauseam in other threads if people actually cared to look them up. Raids are not a competition, they are a static challenge with no variables other than the Dev team buffing/nerfing jobs a bit. There is literally no purpose in introducing a pvp-esque dynamic to a non-PvP mode. Ranked PvP has always been a competition, by definition if you intend to have a performance-based reward and a Top X per region, you need to close the gate after a certain point to define who won and who lost.

Also I truly hope you don't call me one of those PvPers because I have not been expressively "no", I have been "yes but can we get a good deal for both sides out of this".

if your suggesting with commendation crystals then i agree, but only if they rework the comm crystal system itself. as it stands rewarding people at just diamond doesnt help incentivize climbing in rank as much as it should/did. but if youre suggesting that it be just a 20k grind with regular crystals then i dont think that would be a good idea as it would basically make rank a grind fest and instead of possibly feeling some sense of accomplishment/pride in achieving a rank through effort, however i do think the more minor rewards (new or old) i.e. minions ,titles, ect(if there are any available) could be relegated to achievements and regular crystals.

the argument isnt about who does or doesnt feel special while im sure there are people who do have that mindset, its about incentivizing ranked cc so that more players engage with what is considered the "ultimate" version of PVP and in doing so makes the devs invest more into content that a section of players enjoy kinda like ultimate.

even though there are "cheaters" & hackers for ultimates it doesnt rob the ones who did it fairly and have a sense of accomplishment the same can be said for ranked, the difference is that ultimate isnt a grindfest that youre proposing and to make ranked rewards into a grinfest be it through battlepass or regular crystals devalues and deters people from engaging in a mode that is arguably not comparable to the other pvp modes and by extension should obviously reward differently but not by an increase in casual/common currency but rather a different metric altogether much like the comm crystals.

I highly encourage you to play ranked, and you'll get a better understanding of where the viewpoint is coming from.

I like that idea of bringing back pvp rewards but only if they are brought back with the same(or similar) ranked acquisition they had before.
