how does one use blue mage?

hello I have been off the game for some time (I missed a lot)
seance coming back I have adapted to most of the changes but blue mage confuses me.
mostly because I do not know how old some of the stuff i'm reading is or what has changed.

that said is it true you can learn blue magic while in other jobs or was that a lie?
if not then how does one learn blue magic when its use is so limited ?
(can not use duty finder)

while blue mage is a fun consent is it worth the grind when it use is so limited?

if square has lighted its restrictions seance it came out I would like to know. is it possible that it will not be a limited job one day?

alright first things first : you obtain magic by just witnessing it not getting hit you do need to hit it first though , you can learn magic from trial bosses, raid bosses, overworld mobs , dungeon bosses, doing the story/getting totems and carnival. they have a chance to drop their respective skill unless everyone in your party is a blue mage and maybe synced in which case the chance becomes 100%.Blue mage also has a higher exp gain cause he cant use duty finder unless the party is fully premade , if youre solo you can use party finder, which means you need to exp in the overworld. Ignore fates you can do it solo but the most efficient way is get a friend who is level 80 and can one shot mobs , dont be in a party with them else it wont work, tag a mob (1-50 go to coerthas on the bird tribe area , 50-60 look for mobs that are 5 levels above you then once you hit lvl 54 got to azys la on the tiamat area and hunt level 49) and have your friend kill them while you run and tag more mobs for him to kill. Once you have leveled to max which is about 2-3 hours start hunting for spells blue mage spellbook says where, check a guide if you dont feel like searching the overworld mobs plus some other spells have alternative ways to get such as . Carnival you dont want to be ill equipped it will help you learn the job a bit it also has weekly clears and rewards you with allied seals as well as some spells that are locked behind it , 2 of the actually doom and res. The blue end game consists of weekly clears of ex trials some of which give titles and achievements , there are some carnival challenges as well that provide titles but the biggest thing is the blue mage savage tier which needs to be cleared synced no echo and all blue mage which not only provides titles but if cleared gives one of the rarest mounts the morbol . The raid tier consists of twintania, nael , bahamut , a4s , a8s and a12s if you like me werent there when they were at their hype then this is the perfect oportunity to do them like they originaly were, weeeell mostly. 4 things : 1) blue being broken trivialises some mechanics, 2) blue being dps means that he needs to know all the mechanics that target using your role such in the case of gavel cause there are no roles(have fun learning 7 variations of one mech) 3) blue being a dps makes things much harder the tank role especially can die by a few autos if the server ticks are feeling funny 4) youre quite late in the hype train if you feel like doing blu so you need to join a discord server or ls or some friends in order to get help or get lucky in pf. Blue is extremely fun and despite all the hate it gets id prefer that they give us more limited jobs so that we can enjoy old content that we missed and even if we have done its a different experience as blu since the tools allow for different strategies. I dont think blu will ever get unlimited and it shouldnt

Maybe one day it could be unlimited, the framework for an unlimited blue exists in the game, its just the will/vision of the devs that would stop it. They are likely prioritising other content and other new jobs which is unfortunate for those of us who adore BLU, but cannot find enjoyment in the limited job content that exists.

No you cannot learn blue magic while not on the job, I'm not sure who told you this but they are lying.
You can queue for dungeons using PF, you just cannot take randoms with you. As such you'll either need a premade party of 4, or you undersize it so you aren't attempting to pull random players in.

The grind isn't actually all that much of a grind. Actual job levels can be done in an hour or two, and the skills are all combat earned so it's a little more exciting than some other classes.

It will probably never be a not-limited job, so to speak. There's been no lightening on restrictions, and probably never will be. But honestly other than the level cap, this only limits you from doing a small amount of content. Deep Dungeons, and PvP. I can't think of anything else BLU can't do. In fact, doing some old endgame raids is really fun and refreshing as BLU, it gets you the morbol mount if you can complete them all so there's some fun and interesting endgame fights ready for you with some nice titles and mounts as rewards.

Every time I'm running fates with my FC mate and his BLU skillz trivialize the content we all get a good laugh.
Not to mention that doing content with a squad of BLU is cool and fun.

Also, I heard that if you self destruct beneath the lamp post in Kugane, someone on top can cast revive and bring you to the sightseeing spot.

why does it get hate? because of the limited content?

just FYI, you do have to be in a premade party but the party, does NOT have to be all Blue mages, as long as everyone in the party is level synced, it's 100% learning rate

Any time I travel through CWH, and The Eyes FATE is up, I'll throw a few Missiles at it to spawn all the adds all at once and then leave. Just amuses me seeing the whole army in place.

But yeah. Outside of instanced content, that's about the most fun to be had, finding things to break. That FATE in particular is fun for being one most players quickly learn is not something you can solo, and even small groups struggle. But BLU says "I got this."

Ive been paid to res people up to that lamp post before. The fun way to get there is to climb to the top of the peg tower(get that sightseeing log while youre there), aim just right, and jump.

it gets hate cause its a fan favourite job but cant play with the other jobs in the higher end content, not that those that complain about it do such kind of content =w=, its just people REEEEing all over. Also i only have a link for EU discord idk if i can post it here though they could probably show you a link for other servers

Thats an incredible over generalisation you just made there lmao which reeks if personal bias, for myself I run all kinds of endgame content as does everyone i know in game, and they all complain about it. You dont need to lie about people to talk about things you like. I could just as easily say everyone Ive seen defending BLU as fun hasnt even stepped into end game content/ is bad at it, but I know that isnt correct despite it being my experience, because in sure there does exist people that dont fit my description.

I dont know if it counts but i did get the morbol and i have gotten into savage not way too deep though id say maybe knees deep, and also alot of people that i know like blue , im just saying that most comments in the forums are people REEEEing , generally its about not being able to do content with other jobs specifically there is always someone that will say it cant raid with other jobs , alot of people will agree yet alot of them havent done raiding anyways ,its the usual group mentality of the forums, you can call me biased cause i like the job , i do try to be as objective as i can though.

i was changing it before the comment you made loaded which is why i made the second one, i agree rn the REEing is minimum id say actually non existant, i havent seen a blue thread in quite awhile, the thing im remembering is back when they were plentyfull , i remember having 4 threads about blue in the first page at some point , all asking make it unlimited and it is bad now , but besides being able to do content at level 80 with other jobs and a huge nerf what is the point? i remember how alot of comments were i quit the job cause i find it boring most being at something like lvl 30.

I should propably defend my self a bit more, it never goes good when i leave stuff for interpretation. You say that what im saying is generalized , and an appeal to authority fallacy , what im saying is that i take more seriously arguments bred from knowledge , as in arguments that were made from more than 10 mins of gameplay or thought , you call it authority fallacy, well i can call your stand point anti-intellectualism.
Obviously nothing appeals to everyone , which is why we are having this conversation , the problem is that since blue already has a fan base be it small or large ,again going by stuff that i watched back then in those threads , why would you try to cater to the people who ,according to you are having just balance discussions, keep calling the job garbage. Straw manning my pointing out of appeal to authority. If someones argument after 10 mins is demonstrably wrong it should be argued against as such, but just saying the devs know more is not an arguement. However someone who has a thought after 10 mins can still have valid and appropriate feedback.

Im not actually someone who advocates it be "changed" per say, but this was not the point of this thread. My stance is that there is no arguement other than "rescources" why a limited and unlimited blu cannot exist alongside each other. Current iteration of BLU already has the framework of a fully functioning level 60 dps, and if you subtract mimicry and final sting it has a balanced dps output as well. I think they should listen the majority in the sense that a form of blu for endgame should exist, i dont want to take away what some people find fun despite my own feelings on the content. I dunno whete youve found this echo chamber of people just calling it garbage but in the threads ive participated in theres plenty of healthy discussion as to how it could work. Your arguments about tanks and healers is imteresting, however as a regular on these forums I dont think I remember people asking for how they exist today other than in the ast crowd, the majority that square seems to accommodate to seems to be rather the silent kind rather than whats said here. And once again you seem to be implying a backwards agumentum ad popularum (appeal to masses), where you are saying the masses are wrong inherently based on past events, which is very wrong just from an argumentation standpoint.

You should also chill my dude, the reason i wasnt giving you my arguments was because this was not the thread for it, and if pointing out the problems with your arguments is "taking the piss" then so be it.

If youre going to do this link the threads you are looking at for intellectual honesty, i think youre referring to the ffxi thread here but im not sure. If you are referring to that thread I can already tell youre looking through that thread in a particular lens cos I remember good discussion and points being made in it.

my problem is that i dont go in all gun ahoy ready to start fights at bars. im honestly trying to see both arguements .
then the arguement comes that says blue isnt overpowered , when he has a full heal on a gcd , death for all bosses except the final ones , that exception includes 8mans , an ignore any mech button , a 5% dps on a 30 seconds cooldown as well as a 5 % dps depending on the element which is irrelevant to anyone but blu if he was unlimited .... til you realise blm still has aspected elemental magic and you know it aint bogus cause his passive increases fire dmg, as well as final sting that you mentioned and the best buffing spell moonflute , a reprisal that works on everything and low enough cds to get their opener up again every downtime.
cracks on that opinion start appearing , this most certaintly isnt a patch and fixed situation , and its why 10 mins of gameplay doesnt give you a full picture

Last reply, look through my post history, ive discussed that all in the past from a high optimisation perspective, a lot of those skills are not as desirable as you would first assume, but what im talking about is the common duty set arguement, where if you take blus already existing optimal dps loadout and sand some of the edges off you have a fully functions dps job. Also death doesnt work on all but final bosses, theres loads of first and second bosses it doesnt work on

I would assume so lol, in most games I assume death and doom will fail against most things

What I think people don't bring up is how good BLU is for temporary events like the Moogle treasure hunt and rare collaborations like Yokai.

If you want faster results than casually bumping into dungeons that give law tomes, BLU is your best bet. Get some spells, PF AV and get yourself some easy tomes. Bonus that it's also fun blowing things (and yourself) up.

And with how frequently they add the Moogle events and with Yokai coming back after 5.3, BLU has a little niche for itself. And the content and job being enjoyable is a huge perk.

For instanced content you can get 100% learning rate. You go in synced(doesnt matter what party make up is), make sure the target uses the spell, and be alive when it dies. If you kill the target early or arent alive at the end, you get 0% learning rate. If you go unsynced the learning rate is reduced a good amount. Leads to some tough decisions between a guaranteed spell and a tough fight, or an easy fight you might do a dozen or more times. Glass dance was one i had to do around 10 times unsynced before learning the spell(the same party tried it synced 3 or 4 times and never got far enough into the script for her to use it).
