Yes me. I tried Ifrit with BLM.
Result: better use THM.
Freeze hit a weak point: 299 DMG.
Burst in combo but with full HP was halfed: 190 DMG.
I survived Hellfire with 40 HP thanks to Sanguine Rite.
Plus you need to know the fight well because you only have Chakra for healing.
Better use THM :)
I expected a little more difference from jobs than the 10 attribute points of a stat and some HP/MP change we got.
I tested ifrit with BLM, definitely better than THM due to freeze, i can go all out better now because i can constantly reduce my hate. Definitely better if going for speedrun.
Lack of stoneskin might be bad too, but easily remedied with organized party that gathers for stoneskin just before Hellfire commenced.
Did 2 runs of Moogle last night, it was a clean fight. Two of the best Moogle runs Ive done so far We had a party setup of 2 WHM, 1 BRD, 1 PLD, 2 MNK, 1 DRG and 1 BLM, then on the second run 1 of the MNK switch to BRD. Both runs were highly successful. As a WHM my MP never went lower than 60%, unless it got sucked away by one of the moogles. The additional BRD on the 2nd run allowed us to have several songs up at the same time. As long as people know how to use their jobs, this fight is better with Jobs.
As far as ifrit is concerned, several LS members attempted and succeeded with Ifrit using jobs. Again, if you know your job well, then you shouldn't run into too much problem. They suggested that killing off all 4 of the pillars was needed since all jobs do not have sentinel.
I have not personnaly tried ifrit with jobs but other LS members have, and the key to winning is because you no longer have sentinal you need to take all nails out, assign 1 DD to each nail and they should all go down, this will leave melee at I think 50% HP and mages at 20%, if they are at full, after hellfire.
To beat Ifrit, put 1 DD on each of the Nails when they pop. Solves the problem of Hellfire significantly.
I've found monks quite useless generaly it's got lancer & archer that you can equip from but it needs conj/gla for stoneskin & sentinal.
But in some areas like moogles just using monk/pug works well as ong as its 1 on 1 or with a whm/conj near by
I've got a question for all of you that have tried Ifrit post patch. Is WAR actually useful now in the Ifrit fight as DD? Or has anyone even tried it?
WAR has a much deeper HP pool than PLD. A lot (or all?) Ifrit's attacks are based on magic as opposed to physical (apart from swipe that I remember). And the damage they take is mitigated in different ways than PLD. Mighty Strikes + Rampage = HP generation per hit for 10 seconds, couple that with a combo and you can keep yourself afloat for a bit. They also have Vengeance which redirects a portion of damage back to it's source, and other mitigating abilites like Featherfoot & Foresight.
Again, I haven't fought Ifrit since the patch, and WAR does take more damage than PLD vs regular mobs. I honestly didn't know about Ifrit ignoring DEF. Has somebody done some thorough testing around that? If so, do you know where I can take a peek at the results and test methodology?
Our Linkshell do it easy with this strategy:
I use Bard during Ifrit. When Nails pop the White Mage came to the Black Mage/Bard spot (Thaumaturges spot). Mid-time between Nails pop and Hellfire I used Battle Voice on the people around me (White Mage, Black Mages and other Bard), White Mage keeps HP up, Bards helps with Stoneskin if White Mage is busy healing the ones that couldn't escape Eruption.
When Ifrit lands in the middle, the Paladin and the other White Mage who stayed on his rock to help the Paladin use Sentinel. The people around the Bard have 100% survival rate even if they don't have Sentinel. The HP Max rise of Battle Voice is enough as long as one Nail is brought down =)
After Hellfire the White Mage uses Benediction and everyone rocks n' rolls ^^
...and sorry about spamming this thread with my questions. With everyone focused on getting Job AFs and whatnot, I haven't had a chance to use my fav class/job (MRD/WAR) against Ifrit/Moogles.
I havnt tanked ifrit on war or pld but the stats are relatively the same as glad and mrd. that being said I tank ifrit on both classes and mrd always takes more damage. I prefer to tank on mrd though cause I can also to more damage making the kill faster.
EDIT: just wanted to add that mrd has more hp so its expected that their def is lower therefore causing them to take more damage, when you put it into a % value they would prob equate to close to the same.
You could have everyone stand near the tank when the nails comes up and have the tank pop AoE Sentinel just before Ifrit jumps to the centre of the room.
You could alternatively have the all the mages group up and cast Protect and SS, you will easily survive with both up.
Haven't won with on a full job run yet, We have won when we take a semi classic mix though. Still trying to win :D
AoE Sentinel as in "Sacred Prism + Sentinel", or do you mean Rampart? Cause idk know what you are talking about refering to AoE Sentinel. I obviously never tried Sacred Prism+Sentinel, since the tooltip says it AoEs your next spell, not skill in general O.o
So what exactly do you mean by AoE Sentinel?
Had a WAR tank a few Ifrit runs earlier today. It worked like a charm! :3
WAR is a marvelous tank for Ifrit. didn't lost hate once, and its deep hp pool gives a huge breathing room. doing nice dmg as well with Steel Cyclone.(400ish each)
With everyone using job, 10mins speedrun have no difficulty at all.
btw did you notice anything about drops?
I tried the fight yesterday for the first time after patch and it seems to drop a lot more; it actually looks like there is a fix amount of drops per win, which gets distributed random... but only did 2 runs and need more testing today.
Yea I don't know if we have been very lucky or not but Totems and Weapons dropped. I got my 4th Ifrit's Cudgel (>.>) and some others got Totems. If many have noticed that it could mean they have increased the drop rate.
Yes did a few test runs like the day after AF came out.
Tried it with PLD, x4 DRG, x2 WHM and BRD
PLD was a nice tank, and the WHM abilities helped greatly, BRD also seemed to hold it's own but DRG... doesn't seem to put out as much Damage as Lancer. We also couldn't get the nails down as fast as normal, plus with DRg not having Sentinal it was wipe city at Hellfire.
Tried it with PLD, x3 MNK, DRG, x2 WHM and BRD
Other classes as stated above, but OMG MNK put out the damage. Only issues was it was crack city... non stop crack crack crack... plus since it was close range damage, yeah MPK the tank much? >.<
Also with the fact that not every job can have raise it was a MUCH longer recovery time to get people up, especially when a healer went down on accident.
In the end we went back to classes except for the PLD/WHM and did much better.
This was only one test, some have come up with different ways to try it so I am sure we will test it again.
One thing that helped us during Ifrit was using Battle Voice about 10 or so seconds before Hellfire went off. This requires someone to use a timer for when spikes pop out. When the timer goes down, people gather, bard uses Battle Voice, HP goes up, and survivability increases.
war owns. you get a lot of hp and a lot of attack.
Exactly what I said ; ;
But yea this strategy works perfectly fine! I really thing if everyone does everything right it's 100% survivability. And with the Benediction that can come after Hellfire you have full HP in less than a second.
Anavi ; ; People never think about including Bard in their strategies. We are only range attackers and a bit enhancers now for one song... "WHERE IS MY MAGI?!" "O.o yes Sir!!... but I can do other stuff and increase TP for example" "I DON'T CARE MAGI ME!!!"
Hehe yes, I really like how the Jobs complete eachothers. I like the team work that is needed now. Honestly, for me, Ifrit has never been as fun as it is now, but this is subjective. It does not only require DD's do be badass in their own corners but everyone can enhance and help eachother in a way or another.
I couldn't agree more. ^_^
