S and A Elite Marks

Dear SE, please make rank A and S more powerful. So powerful it would require a minimum of three full parties for A, and four full parties for S.

This way players with ADD who early pull after 3 seconds of shouting <pos> can stop doing this crap and we can all get our seals and be happy.

Well it would also help if people don't act like headless chicken the second an early puller is pulling. Usually you have 1 or maybe 5 trolls who run into the mob and pull on sight....the rest of the 100 players waiting around then pew pew pew their minds out just in case they might miss something.

Let those trolls die and they will rethink whether it is such a grand idea to pull. Because it is actually pretty embarrassing running into the mob and then dying 5 seconds later because nobody helped :D

Of course, I do see the problems with getting 100 people to NOT react to a mob name suddenly turning red. It's like a freaking lemming rush that is unstoppable.

I for one would agree. They are so easy, its ridiculous...

Yet some people still get steamrolled by S ranks, and some As (Maahes and Marraco mostly).

Also, for the love of christ, I wish they were harder and it was also harder to get full credit. Saturday night an S spawned (forget his name, the catoblepas like creature similar to the boss in halatali hm) and I formed a party of 8. 6 people died while the mob was at 70% life, excluding my healer friend and myself. We ALL got full credit. Don't know if its because we were epic as hell or if its just a give-away at a certain point. The rest of the party was like wtf how did that just happen?

SE, come on. If you are going to keep As and Ss the way they are, at least add a higher tier that can easily kill large quantities of people.

i just remembers something as I am typing this. About a week ago at approximately 5am est, my fc and I hunted down maraco and it was just us 8. He was actually quite difficult using a balanced party of 2/2/4. If this is what SE intended from the start then I hate to say it but claiming should have been a thing.

Wouldn't that just make hunts more powerful than Coil bosses if it would require three parties just to kill? Unless by "powerful" you just mean "Increase their HP."

its open world content though. And for the record, it SHOULD be closer to coil difficulty considering the loot they drop. They essentially drop alexandrite, sands, oils, and tomes. Coil drops the same thing basically, so yeah. Closer difficulty would be about right.

Coil is also optimized for 8 people. I feel that A ranks were intended to be for 8 but more than likely 50 people or more just destroy it as if it were a dung midge swarm. If SE were monitoring the state of the hunt, they should realize that they either needed to make it a claim system, or tune the bosses for much more than 8 people. Have you ever seen just one party fighting an A rank? not likely.

Others could not interfere and you had to meet conditions like gaining points in a faction. Perhaps use GC seals to buy the guildleve. Would make seals relevant again.

But on the topic. A lot of people don't actively hunt though, thus making the thrill of the chase moot. I for one, did enjoy hunting them, so yes I do agree with you there. In terms of making the hunt worse by making them harder, I guess it would just have to be a deal with it type of thing. Either that or SE needs to make, as you suggested, an open world boss system that can be difficult and rewarding, but also exclusive to the party/alliance that finds it.

The reason we shouldn't be concern if they're as powerful as coil mobs is because this is a world event, this is something an unlimited amount of people can sign on. S ranks need to be ridiculously powerful and A ranks powerful enough for players to form parties for at least 5 minutes.

People don't wait at all, I'm telling you, I look at PF every few minutes, and I swear I see an icon pop "This zone's hunt' as soon as I join they say "dead"

Or if I happen to be on the zone, someone shouts for the first time, and by the time I get there they're already at it.

Except it wouldn't change a thing. As soon as someone pulls, everyone is going to follow suit to begin with. Making a mark stupidly powerful just to give laggers a shot to come in is a bad design; you're basically swapping the problem of "punish the player for not being at the right place at the right time" to "punish the player for not waiting on 5 other players to show up, forcing the other 40 to wait". Having a power race in enemy design is lazy.

Sorry to break it to you, but working as intended. Original design of hunts is if the group finds it, they kill it and get the reward. The act of being courteous and waiting for the server is purely on the community's end and not the developer. They do not have the responsibility to make it where you have to wait for everyone to claim it. They only change what they believe needs to be changed. Hunts are not broken by any means by design, the only fault it has is that the rewards for doing them are too high, which causes the chaos you see now.

What I meant though is that at some point you have maybe 2 groups standing there waiting for the rest...or it has just been announced in general chat and 5 sec later the troll runs in and pulls. I do think that a common courtesy time should be granted after it has been announced in general chat. I am not saying 10 min but more than 30 sec for sure, depending on where the mob spawns. In the end though you are right, if you miss it, you miss it but people should at least have a chance to get there.

the problem is not everyone will be happy. The common denominator here is that people shouldn't feel obligated to wait to slay a mark that they hunted in the first place. I don't care about waiting for people but after a point its ridiculous.

Also, the increase in difficulty isn't for helping late arrivers get there on time, its for the simple fact that they are too easy to begin with.

Once stuff you can currently get with allied seals are no longer worth getting and SE has to add in new rewards HOPEFULLY the hunt system will be redone. SE can't make any changes now cause people will cry about the "work" they put in to get their stuffs and how unfairly easy it would be with any changes.

In an ideal world, yes there would be no such thing as early pulling, but some servers have created a culture of "wait for people" which admittedly I helped create on Goblin. This was done because people bitched and moaned so much but they missed the point entirely. I think SE wanted it to be easy to get gear via the hunt, but I don't think they anticipated servers allying within themselves to allow people server wide to get easy gear.

I also wholeheartedly agree with u about the future rewards for the hunt. Im OK with them still dropping soldiery and mythology as they are going to start getting phased out in 2.4 I spent a good 4k seals on vanity (very impulsive person when it comes to vanity lol) before i even spent seals on a book or alexandrite and I still got my novus and all the gear I wanted from the hunt. its too much.

The main problem is this, on crowded servers, any rank marks will be dead within seconds. A lot of players have problems of marks not showing up etc... so they can't get credits. On the other hand, I am in Belias, where it is never a problem to do hunt, because there are barely enough players to do it. So if SE makes Hunt mob very powerful, smaller servers will have a big problem trying to kill these mobs.

Either SE need to adjust mob strength in relation to how many players tagging it, immediately put triple the amount of HP if detecting more than X numbers of people. Or they really need to put FIRST priority for your party members and the monster only to load, everyone else can be damn and disappear.

This is more a world/server issue

On Leviathan we for the most part have no problems getting our A and S kills, sure there is an outside party here and there, but the majority of kills is always through our linkshell and we try to maintain rules about the kills as well,

its not SE fault for the lack of discipline and structure in the community but the community's own fault. At this rate im expecting someone to blame SE for not having milk in the fridge for their fruity pebbles by next week.

I'm not expecting people to wait for unknown people to show up, I'm expecting people to use common sense. If players shout to wait since group's otw, why can't they just do that? If they pull despite knowing people are coming, knowing full well that the mob is on the other side of the map which takes forever to run over there, they should have the common courtesy, or patience to wait for them to arrive. But we don't have that do we? There is no common in sense, all we have are rushy kids with ADD who early pull cause 'LoL'.

Since I'm not expecting common sense to take place then why not make these mobs as tough as they should be. 20 seals and 50 seals are supposed to be hard to get, not this given away mechanic from which only the few lucky who happen to be ten feet from the mob can enjoy.

The community has turned it into what it is because they refuse to understand that there should never have been hunt LSs calling people to the marks to begin with. As I said in another post, I hunted and called out actively because it became part and parcel to having a harmonious community, I didn't really want it to be that way though.

I don't know how common it is on other servers, but on Balmung there is a Hunting LS that is drop-in/drop-out.

That is, you join the linkshell when you start hunting for the day, and you leave when you are finished/take a break. The linkshell will periodically kick inactive players or players who are not in zones with active A/S windows. Any pops are announced in that LS and all active hunters converge on it.

There's no cliqueyness, everyone who asks for an invite gets one and it never fills up. It's very rare that the mob is tagged before people have a reasonable amount of time to get there (including PS3 players) as long as they are paying attention when the mob is announced (and if you're actively hunting, you are paying attention). When it is pulled early, it's normally because someone facepulled and others overreacted.

If there isn't a similar linkshell on your server, set one up. All you need it enough sack-holders actively hunting 24/7 to be able to pearl anyone who asks for one.

There are always people shouting wanting an invite or to hold it rather if you wait one minute or ten minutes and that same person is going to call you an early puller. We're supposed to be civil in real life, I expect the same to be in a game where real people interact with each other.

People aren't obligated to wait, people aren't obligated to give a damn if you're on the other side of the map and you need a minute to get there.

But I expect people to empathize a bit more when it comes to things that like I said, only require common sense.

The more the merrier, the faster you kill the mob, the less likelihood of deaths, the more happy people.

If you're in the zone, and the party's otw, at least have the common decency to call time of pull, people should be more organized, not this random chaotic pull that happens no matter who's on the way.

If you're going to bring up real life, show me all the competitions where the first place person/team waits for the rest of the competitors to catch up. Hunts are a competition for mobs, there's going to be winners and losers. I've missed out on many A/S ranks but I never QQ about it, because I know I didn't put forth the maximum effort to hunt them so i don't deserve to complain. Are you keeping track of the S ranks re-spawn times? Are you in the zones trying to spawn them with the various triggers?

Problem is, I'm often hunting early in the morning (US East Coast time), and there may only be a single group worth of players out actively hunting. This would make A's impossible to take down during overnight/early morning periods. I think the current situation is working out reasonably well.

Why wasn't it? People organizing in an mmo to get something done wasn't part of the design of a hunt?? Now im just totally baffled. As I said, it has a lot to do with the community working together and not SE's issue if that said server/community doesn't want to.

They are easy because of the numbres zerging them. They would be a modicum of challenge if done with the designed number of people, and not 1/4 of the server XD

Bs where designed for 1-2
A's for 4-8
S's for 2-3 full parties

None of them where balanced around 100-200 nuking em. Neither should they be.

Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong, but when 2.4 comes along, won't hunts become largely irrelevant unless new hunt content is introduced in that patch? So then... what would be the point to making any changes to it now, when the patch is getting pretty close?

In it's current state all we can do is cheat and watch the spawn times on a website, or else you won't get there in time or you'll be extremely lucky now and then.

You're lucky anyone waits for anyone before pulling when they find a hunt mark. This is NOT how things are in most other MMOs I've played, you find it, you pull it, you don't sit around waiting for half the server to show up, you just kill it, and too bad for them for not being there when you do. Calling down the community for not waiting forever and a day before pulling is just plain ridiculous, seeing as how this community is FAR better at waiting than any in any other game I have ever played EVER. I just don't even understand the logic you're employing. Especially because the content in question is about to become completely obsolete anyway, come update time.

Didn't you know? All hunts belong to the horde! Deprive them of their chance at a kill and face their eternal /tell scorn!

I'm pretty over it. I don't pull hunts in general because it's great that everyone can gear up quickly, but they've introduced more problems than solutions.

The rewards are out of balance. We shouldn't be able to buy logs; they should remain a random drop from targets. I also think early pulling doesn't actually exist, because it's a hunt. It isn't content tailored to massive crowds. I'm of the opinion that hunts should have been claimable by parties from the start because those full groups were able to find them, requiring the entire group to be on the same map to claim. Hunts are working as intended...because no thought seems to have been put into them beyond "well it didn't go well to begin with, might as well make it a freebie to help people along".

I'm done with hunts this week once I have my last Alexandrite. Probably won't do them again. Hoping SE introduces new ways to get gear for upcoming jobs not native to Eorzea, so shouldn't have the same acquisition methods.

Mahisha in the tunnels is what u ask for OP

If it makes you feel better OP most people will probably drop hunts like a hot potato as soon as 2.4 hits and ST is unlocked, except maybe for those who use hunts to rapidly collect myth.
