Would it be possible to make glamours job-specific rather than on general equipment?

I couldn't think of a very good title for this, so hopefully I can explain succinctly.

The glamour prism system isn't so bad. It's not an ideal slot system, but I've adapted to it and have made money off it for sure.

The thing that is irritating about it is that for jobs that may use a lot of the same equipment, or even just pieces like WHM/SCH, BLM/SMN, WAR/PLD the glamour of one job affects the other.

For example, I had the Wolfseye set glamoured to my BLM. It's BLM only so I didn't see any of it on SMN, which is fine. But when I recently obtained the augmented Evoker stuff for glamour, glamouring it to SMN basically took off all of my BLM set. For people that play multiple classes, this is a little frustrating.

Again, I don't know how difficult it would be, and I don't want them to scrap the system and start over by any means, but I do want to be able to have different glamour sets for different jobs despite sharing a lot of the equipment. Hopefully that makes sense.

I keep thinking this is how it should have been. With the glamours saved to class slots, maybe we could glamour "multi-sloted" equipment like cowls or the chocobo suit

I would also like titles saved to class slots, my BLM is not a "Meat Shield" no more than my WAR is an "Archmage".

Personally I'm fine with glamours being tied to pieces of gear, that is the point of the system. The over complicated prism system is ridiculous, but that it is tied to the gear and not to a class is perfect imo.

The titles argument just seems out there in left field though :/

You earn the titles as a characte, as a person. Not as a class or job. As example, you kill 1000 kobolds and get the title kobold killer (only as an example), then switch to a crafter class. Even as a crafter your character have still killed 1000 kobolds and is a kobold killer.

The reasoning behind tying it to a job rather than gear is due to jobs sharing armor, though. If, for example, you main blm and really love the blm specific AF and you glamour it over the Evenstar stuff, it's fine when you're on blm. But switch to summoner, and the blm glamour doesn't show up so it just looks like you're wearing Evenstar. If you could tie glamours to jobs you could have different outfits for each one.

in different circles (such as jobs) people are known by different titles. you may be a doctor irl but the supermarket lady does not know this instead of her calling you "Dr" she will call you "Sir"

these same circles exists within the game too for are you not a part of guilds?

I think there would be even more demand for glamour prisms if they tied the system to job/class sets rather than equipment though.

As it stands now, I like my SMN glamour more than I do my Wolfseye set, so I won't bother buying more prisms and glamouring back and forth between classes. Too much gil, not enough pay-off.
But if they tied it to classes, I would think more people, like myself, would take time to think of individual outfits for those classes that share so much equipment and would be more willing to utilize the system even more.

The system itself frankly isn't perfect if it's a hassle to have multi-job vanity sets in a game that touts being able to level all classes on one character. But this is my impression as someone who thoroughly loves vanity systems.

I think his main point is that he'd like title preferences to be saved per job/class set. Like how we have head-gear/no head gear, weapon visible/no weapon visible options saved per set. I think it's a reasonable suggestion for the future.

I'd like to be able to toggle glamours on/off. Between the Soldiery boots, Amon's boots and i100 PVP boots, only Amon's boots have the stats I can use across the board, but they don't go with all three gearsets (esp the PVP one) so they're glamoured to look like PVP set. I get that if I want them to look like something else entirely I would need to get a new glamour prism, but having to unglamour/reglamour the PVP boots to turn them off and on is asking WAY too much. Having them take their original appearance in one 'glamour-off' loadout, and having them take on the new appearance in a 'glamour-on' loadout, would allow us to use an outfit in its original form and its modified form, having already paid for the prisms once, without having to do it again and again and again. I'm not going to reglamour the same boots, or anything else, at 6k per pop.

Glamour prisms aren't free, though. I feel it is even more unrealistic to expect someone to just reglamour everything every time they change between jobs that share armor.

Except glamour was a vanity addition that SE didn't have to give us. Sorry, just feels that since SE gave an inch people are wanting a mile in this situation.

Except with a few simple clicks, you go from "Dr" to "Sir" in XIV. No real need to have it set permanently for every class/job.

DCUO had a styles system, where after you equipped ANY armor, that it saved that style for you. And you could mix and match any way you like after that, generally involving three base colors you could mix/match as you like.

Would be nice if something like that existed

The OP is asking for this because we can't glamour gear how we want. I know I can't.

I have the i100 PVP Bearsmaw (WAR) gear glamoured over my i100 Noct (PLD/WAR) gear. I'm not a big fan of the Noct gear and I really wish I could glamour the Lionsmane stuff over if for PLD, but I can't, since one armor can only have one glamour.

I have to agree with this topic, if only because the theme of my glamours was broken when I upgraded to the noct gloves. Before, all my jobs were glamoured the same way except they were all wearing the i90 gloves to differentiate themselves, but now my tanks have to share.

SE isn't obligated to give us anything. We aren't entitled to minion/mounts, CT/Coil, holiday/crossover events or even a reboot of the game, yet they still did all that and more. your point?

What the OP is suggesting would be confusing on the inventory system. At present you change the look of the item, so that new look is saved onto the actual item in your possession.

OP why not develop the way to change the Glamour system to do what you want? It is pretty hard to imagine a way to save the Glamour to a saved set when you Glamour an item. The only way at present to do this is to have two of the same item and Glamour them as you want for the different set.

This isn't really possible, not even the Transmogrify system in WoW can do anything like this.

Edit: And this is already somewhat in place, you can dye glamours of same item different colors for each gear set, without ever dying the origional. Would only require slight tweaking of data list accessed for how your character is displayed, something like

Character Body: <body86> #glamour<body32> #color<17>*

Too bad they didn't just go with a more simple and (at least to me) a more obvious glamor system of having 2 inventory slots for each item. 1 for actual equipment and 1 for the glamor so you can switch out anytime you want too and have different sets for different jobs. Example, Although the noct armor looks cool on Roegadyns, my 4 1/2 foot tall Miqo'te looks like a cheerleader trying to be a football player so naturally I glamored it to my old pld myth armor that I think looks really good on her. But at the same time, that wont show on my war and even if it did I wouldn't want my war looking like a holy paladin, just doesn't fit the image of war to me. I know a lot of crafters are making a killing on overpricing the prisms but seriously could glamoring (a completely vanity only and doesn't affect the game at all feature) be any more complicated?

I play BLM and SMN and they are using the same gear. It's pretty boring I am forced to make them look the same because I can not set separate glamours for each. It's just another example of Squares need to make everything needlessly complicated. They could have just had a simple costume slot that you place gear into.

I have asked for this quite a few times on other threads as well. because they share gear if I glamour BLM, my SMN looks a mess.. and vice verse.

My friend is having the same issue with WHM/SCH, his White Mage looks uber cute, but his Sch is a mish-mash because he can't glamour the same piece twice.

Glamours really need to be set per class, not per gear... >.<

They made it this way, in order to give crafters something else to make. (Glamour crystals) otherwise people would just need a single item and never have to re-invest. Thus when you want to change you have to re-invest.

If you're arguing that they set up the system this way as a money sink, that's still somewhat incorrect. If you could glamour each job, people would buy more Glamour Prisms. When I decide to glamour my Evenstar set, I only need to buy one Prism for each slot because blm/smn have to share the glamour. If I could do separate Glamours for blm and smn, I would have to buy two Glamour prisms for each slot, one for summoner and one for blm. Which I would have significantly less of a problem with than having to buy glamour prisms every time I wanted to change between smn and blm.

I feel this in incorrect...or you're misunderstanding what we are asking for. If they made, say the Scylla's robe of casting glamour-able by class/job, then crafters would make more gil. Example:

Scylla's Robe of Casting for SMN and BLM:

Currently: BLM is my main and SMN my secondary, due to this I glamoured my BLM (using 1 glamour prisim), but I can do nothing with my SMN because it uses the same body piece and can not be glamoured with two different looks... I would like it to have the SMN AF Body glamoured on it.

If it were per class: Then I would need two glamour prisms, one to make my BLM look the way I want, and one to make my SMN look the way I want on the same body piece.

Per class would give the crafters more to make, because people would be buying double prisims (one for BLM, one for SMN) for 1 piece of gear, instead of 1 and then dealing with what they have on the other job, because they have to look the same because they share gear.

More glamour options = more glamours per 1 piece of gear = more buying/making = more profit.

If people wanted to reinvest it might very well end up being double if they decide to change both jobs to something else. :)

I also think as a crafter you would want the glamor separate per job.
Not only as others have said about making more money off the doubled sales of prisms. You would also make more money off of the extra 2 & 3 star armor crafts people would buy to glamor their equipment with. As they have said they don't want them to look the same so they would need the other piece to get their glamor off of.

I don't have a second job high level enough to have the problem, but I can see why it would be best to have the glamour for each job. Hope they'll consider it!

Theres some armour, Vanyaa comes to mind, thats available on healers and caster dps but if I buy the caster version I can't glamour it onto my healer because of the class restriction, why, it looks exactly the same!? And its not like I'm using the stats or anything.

Also yeah I had experience with the class swapping and glamours going nuts, its really annoying and needs fixing. Odin's armour can't be glamoured which makes me really sad, its lovely heavy armour and I wanted it so bad, figured out I couldn't glamour it, cried a little.

Why not glamour the vanya robe you are able to? It makes sense, otherwise you'd have whm running around in pld af and things like that which I'm sure SE didn't want and is why they put in class restrictions.

The game shares equipment between jobs. If I am not mistaken, it doesn't even allow the acquisition of duplicates that could be glamored differently.

Yes it is a flaw in the system.

2 ways to fix:
-remove shared gear or make shared gear not unique
-adjust the glamor system in a way that you can glamor once for every job the piece is designed for.

And I would think that the developers would actually like getting suggestions, period. It's all feedback.
For a lot of people, if they take pride and joy in their work, if they're serious about what they create, they appreciate feedback so they have more ideas on how they can continue to improve their art/creation.

It is a simpler system, but the reason they gave for not going with that was that it'd create more data transferred per character, leading to more server stress (which is less of an issue now than back then, but is probably still relevant).

I believe that the vanity slots that we are planning for patch 2.2 will come close to addressing this request. We do not have any plans to make it so you can completely separate the setting of cosmetic gear and gear with stats.

With that in mind, the suggestion I see most in this thread--to allow gear to have glamour data saved separately for each class that could use it--could work, I think. But you'd probably have to use a glamour prism per item per class then. I see a lot of complaints here about prism prices as is, so is that worth it?

Otherwise, the only way I can think of to implement what the OP is asking for would be to have the inverse of a glamour prism. Like project the stats of the gear you want onto the cosmetic gear you want. But having that system side-by-side with the glamour system could be confusing.

The complaint about prism prices was in regards to being expected to change everytime going back and forth between jobs that share armor. For example, you have a glamour on your paladin that you love for paladin but it's job specific so it doesn't work on WAR. But maybe your static needs you to be on warrior for a certain fight. So you do it, change your glamour to fit the warrior aesthetic you want, and do the fight. But then, that same day, you're needed as paladin again, and have to repeat the same process. In situations like that, you're currently forced just to settle with having glamours that will work with both jobs, or just have glamours only show on the particular job. You can argue that glamours aren't needed to start with and that's a fair argument, but when SE touts customization and being able to have all jobs on one character, these small limitations are a bummer.
