This list I put together after hours of math and comparing items. Keeping with the 480 ACC cap for T5 in Coil I went with Parry as the best secondary stat for PLD. Another note worthy cap is 363 STR for an extra 1% mitigation for parry/block. Should Have around 8.1k HP with 3% party buff and food buff. (Also the T1-4 next to the item refers to the turn in coil it drops from.)

Are yous ure it is not 7.1K hp ? 8?1k seems insanely high. I have about 5750 in full party with no food, relic, full DL, mytho hands and ring. I miss 4 * 5 vit for each accessory, 17* 2 for each body+head and legs+feet, 5 for belt, 4 for sword, 2 for shield, totalling 65. 65 * 14 = 910 HP. With food i can see you getting to 7.1k, sure, but 8.1k seems off by about 70 vitality, which is insane.

Unless you have new information about the Allagan Head, it does not drop in T4.

Not sure I agree with your Acc cap value, as I've heard a variety of different values from ~480-484 from different sources. Switching from Relic +1 to Allagan Blade/Shield will lower Acc by 1, but gain 8 parry. This change would still keep you in the target range for speculated T5 acc cap.

Also, where are you getting your math for the max HP? I would really like to see this, as my current formulas put current cap with party buff and food at ~6.9k. Would really like to see the formula that you are using that puts this up at 8.1k.

Taking a second look at the numbers he came up with, I am guessing you multiplied the entire VIT by a certain value? This will not work, as the VIT:HP ratio is not correct for the BASE amounts. I currently have Valor head/chest/gloves, myth ring, allegan shield, regular curtana, the rest darklight. I sit at 6.2k hp with food.

Yeah base hp calculations are all messed up. I did figure that base paladin vit/hp is 194/2214 before bonus stats/race stats. If you subtract 194 from the final Vitality, multiply it by 14.5, then add 2214 hp it should come up clean. That base 194/2214 doesn't divide cleanly into the 14.5 coefficient though.

no idea why it took you so long to come up with this :D I've had this saved as PLD BiS pre T5 since phase 4 lol. Adding the Allagan Sword and Shield to this puts your acc at 472 but ups parry some making that BiS overall. you could even swap the relic shield with allagan as it wouldn't make any difference considering this set has virtually no skill speed so losing 7 skill speed for 7 more acc would make no noticeable difference. All of my calculations were done with no food though so 472 acc + the acc buff from food would still put you over the cap

Let me make this much easier for everyone, so you stop doing this the hard way. Base accuracy without any gear equipped at 50 is about 340, +/- a couple points for race and other bonuses (my miqo'te has 341). That being said, you're trying to optimize gear to get a set that has about 130 accuracy on it, at least. With that in mind, go here see the existing BiS sets that already exist in large numbers, and/or make your own to play with the values:

Allagan ring has 11 skill speed, I know some people consider the myth earring which has another 16 skill speed. It could matter.

Even if you used all of them you are looking at a total of 34 skill speed. That's not even close to a .1 sec difference and definately not worth giving up 5 parry and 11 accuracy just from the earrings alone for. If soneone could find a viable skill speed set then it maybe worth it but 34 skill speed wouldn't even make a noticeable difference

If you have a legit max hp formula id like to see it. I did not account for the base hp value when I came up with 8.1k so it is incorrect.

Allagan Shield has 11 ACC while Holy Shield +1 has 7 Skill Speed.

You lose 8 swithing between weapons, but get 11 from the shield, which is a net gain of 3.

All 3 items will net you .03 second faster GCD's.

This formula is relatively close, but not 100% accurate. [ (Current.VIT - 194) * 14.5 ] + 2214. Judging from the Lodestone, that comes up about 200HP off for me. I'll check the formula that I have in my spreadsheets after work and update then.

Feel free to use my own wardrobe style PLD equipment spreadsheet.

• Your base STR and VIT values will change depending on your race, so remove all of your gear and edit them to the correct numbers. (Do not include your allocated stat points here).
• Put your additional allocated points in the appropriate cells.
• Put your base HP value in the cell labelled Base. To figure out this value remove all your gear, equip a level 1 sword with no stats and do:
• Current HP-(Allocated VIT*14.5). For example, I have 2938 HP with no gear and 30 points in VIT. 2938-(30*14.5)=2503.
• You can add new equipment on sheet 3. It's pretty self explanatory.

I've compiled some sets taking in to consideration the debatable accuracy cap (heard of values anywhere between 470 and 482).

It should be noted that these sets are built around maximising parry while maintaining the appropriate accuracy cap, and that they are built with the (varying) TURN 5 accuracy requirement in mind. Lower level content will have vastly different BIS sets.

The previous set requires valor hands which you will eventually replace with Allagan and the gain you receive is only 1 parry and 4 crit.
This set foregoes purchasing the hands and uses a set that allows you to transition easily in to your true BIS.

On a related note, the spreadsheet also displays your correct base and in-party HP values as well as enmity and damage values for each skill. With full i90 you can expect to be at roughly 7000 depending on your race. The highest being 7042 for Roe IIRC.

Edit: Error in Allagan Blade stats, there should be no skill speed on this weapon. Disregard.

I'll need to verify in game, the formula is working for my spreadsheet however my calculated Vitality on that spreadsheet is 20 less than what Lodestone says I should have. That would kick me up to 214 VIT as base VIT which seems like a familiar number. This is what happens when I do google spreadsheets while drinking Guiness.

Try [ (Current.VIT - 214) * 14.5 ] + 2214 until then, see if that matches up. I was trying to take it a step further so that I could calculate for other races and eventually other classes, so I tried to strip it down a bit more than was probably necessary.

Looking at Jahaudant's sheet I think that's the issue, I had Paladin base Vit listed as 194 instead of 214. I probably subtracted my racial Vit twice in a drunken stupor or something. Corrected on my sheet and it matches Lodestone now at:

[ (Current.VIT - 214) * 14.5 ] + 2214

Note that relies on a Paladin base HP of 2214, base Vit of 214, and HPCoeff of 14.5. This base does not include racial bonus or bonus stats allocated.

TBH I would not want my food calculated into my bis. My bis would be listed as below. This will meet max acc req's while keeping par high. Does food help Sure it does but, it should not be needed. I know a lot of hc players like think food is a big part of it but, I think this would be far better since you gain so much acc for the cost of very little par / det.

Ciana: regarding the base stats in your spreadsheet I think you have STR listed incorrectly. my base STR as seeker of the sun is 203 where your spreadsheet has it down as 192.

I'm trying to add a selectable race function in my own sheet so you don't have to manually figure out your base str/vit/hp but can't seem to find accurate numbers!

Looking at the BiS list, I could agree with your true BiS if and only if it was to be confirmed that acc cap is in fact 482. I have always heard that is 472 and haven't found much of anything to dispute that.

If the cap is 472 then the allagan wrists with valor gloves is BiS but only because of the extra 1 parry and dropping your acc to 479. Personally I will be going this route until I can really get into T5 and see where I stand on misses etc. As of right now I sit at 477 with food and don't notice misses at all.

Gear stats may make sense, but buying Valor body and farming Allagan head is completely backwards, why would you buy a turn 1 drop and farm a turn 4?

Let's not forget that Valor body is better than Allagan anyway. It's certainly a worthwhile investment unless you already have Allagan body in which case you are better off upgrading other i60/i70 pieces first.

And I only have 6344HP no food, no party buff. And this is with no itemization for coil (look at acc). I only raid on PLD since can get ACC cap.

Technically you can change out Allagan shield for Holy Shield +1 and hit exactly 472 accuracy while gaining an extra 7 skill speed - but the unreliability of all accuracy testing I've seen makes me want that little extra buffer (until I see solid proof at least). Currently the only solid accuracy testing was done in beta with numbers for current game being different and data sources being unreliable.

This set gives you 489 accuracy and 601 parry with food. Probably shouldn't use it!

This is the same set I came up with in open beta for a BiS. Except like you I went with the allagan shield since extra acc doesnt hurt with unknown caps and the 7 skill speed wouldn't make any difference at all

You did mention the thing about not using food, which I don't agree with but you are of course entitled to do whatever you like! The problem is the set you posted gives 578 parry and 480 accuracy without food or as I said.....

You've basically created a 472 accuracy set that is unequivocally worse than the one I posted a while before it. If that's the set you want to use then I won't try to persuade you otherwise but you shouldn't be potentially misguiding other players by calling it a "Best in Slot" set when it quite clearly isn't.

None of these are really best in slot unless your only goal is to touch yourself to HP values.

It has long been assumed that the accuracy cap for turn 5 is over 480.

Assuming at least 482 accuracy required, this set seems to trump the rest. Credit goes to Jahaudant for this list. Ignore the skill speed on the blade as it is an obvious typo.

Still, you don't need 529 VIT so there's no way to consider it optimal or BiS if it's not required for content unless your only goal is to stroke HP values or a different defensive stat which again, is not required for content.

Are you suggesting PLDs should be using Striking, Maiming and Slaying accessories for tanking Twintania?

You only need ~465VIT to tank Twintania solo w/cooldowns, so yeah.

The offtank is just there for stuns and the add sections, but the stuns are pro.

The entire mantra in tanking throughout the entire game has been to get as much HP as possible to cushion those blows. And it isn't changing just for turn 5. Honestly anyone spending over 4 mil or wasting the time to grind the items and not just sell them, is only making work for themselves so they feel like they are doing SOMETHING.

I don't care if you do 40 more dps than me, a 7k hp pool is going to be better than 6.5k anyday of the week.

The ridiculousness of this is only compounded when you look at the fact there is absolutely NOTHING past turn 5 at the moment.

Again, I'm not disputing the 40ish dps you gain from sacrificing the HP is nice, but I'd still want the HP.

Then you admit a lack of faith in your healers or your own ability to manage cooldowns effectively. You may need even less HP than I stated, some may need a bit more, personally I need that much and anything past that is unnecessary and doesn't help the group accomplish the goal of winning.

Having xHP I never use is a safety net I don't need and one many others don't need either. That doesn't mean I won't have the tank oriented gear available for 2.2 sometime next year when we get a new tier of content, but using it all now is sort of a waste. You can use full DD accessories for everything except Twintania, in which you can only use a few.

You're a tank, not a DPS.
There is absolutely no point towards adding more strength over vitality because the damage contributon provided by a tank is so negligible as to not be worth it.
You're always better off stacking vitality, because it then frees up your healers to focus on other players.

Your logic is flawed on the simple fact that tank contribution in terms of DPS is so very minute as to be irrelevant.

The sets I've posted are, for the purpose of increasing your survivability, best in slot sets and I'm sure you will agree - so let's just leave it at that.

On another note, does anyone have accurate base STR figures for each race?

Does anyone know enough about Dexterity's effect on parry to rule out VIT/Parry-melded Gryphonskin? For example, if we assume 1 DEX = 1 Parry, then such an accessory would be effectively -5 VIT / -2 SSPD / +12 ACC / +3 Parry / + 9 STR. You could also potentially reach another block strength tier, but that depends on overall gear and bonus stats.
