I agree, it's not right to boot someone who fails at their job unless you really have no choice (like a tank who can't hold agro in a high level dungeon such as vault or something or a DPS who auto attacks because laziness). I was in a totorak with a mrd who, despite repeated pleas from the group, almost never used overpower and only occasionally did their combos. But we persevered regardless with me on my leveling mnk taking and holding agro 70% of the time. We even managed to finish the dungeon in a timely manner because the rest of the group was able to pick up the slack. This won't always be the case of course, it's up to the group to decide if it's possible, but finishing the dungeon made me prouder than it would have if it'd been just a regular run.

I should mention this mrd was a sprout and this was his highest level character, not some multi level sixty player who was trolling. It could have been a kid.

Once again, I need to let some hate flow out..^^

I don't think I have to say how incredibly rude I find it to enter content you do NOT have the gear for (or experience with your class, for that matter) just because "eh, queue takes too long as a dps".
We did okay, mainly because both DPS did awesome (and therefore had aggro half of the time anyway), but that was obviously not thanks to the tank who had less HP than any of us.
I was unwilling to fight about this though and just didn't say anything until the end anymore...where finally for the first time in EVER I saw the butterfly drop (which is the minion I adore the most and really really want).
Well, I rolled a 4, and that tank rolled a 90, got it, laughed his ass off in chat and left.

I'm not even raging. Just silently burning with hate :)

Had a laugh in frontlines match just now, group was losing badly and the person who decided by himself that he was going to be our savoir barking instructions, orders and shouting at people set in motion a vote kick on me. I have never come third place in frontlines, always first or second at worst and their vote kick allowed me to keep that winning streak which I found amusing. The self imposed leader chose me as the scapegoat for losing because I joked/was sarcastic about his/her barking orders when called me out in chat for not following their lead while I was covering multiple towers in anticipation for tower respawn which was about to happen...but being kicked worked out fine for me. Went back in to another match right after and came first again. :D

I just did Cutter's Cry for my leveling roulette on my level 50 paladin and we had a white mage that was either lagging badly or just had no clue how to heal. So I ended up having to offheal with cross class cure to get past the worm boss and I self healed from 70% to 30% on the Chimera. Thankfully the machinist was able to kite it while keeping hate when I died and we killed it.

I been doing lvl 60 roulette the past week and every single time I've got Aetherochemical Research Facility only for the tank to leave immediately. I'm not just talking about once I mean all 6 times I've done it this week (including since todays reset).

Managed to finish all of the runs without one but it's a total douche move to pull.

People leaving when they get ARF is a problem that SE created (which they are somewhat fixing now in patch 3.3 on Tuesday).

You spend around the same amount of time, if not longer in most cases, and get LESS reward than if your roulette chose one of the other dungeons. It's not equal reward for equal time spent; if anything you likely spend MORE time to complete the dungeon due to its i180 sync and then get less reward for it. It is pretty silly in my opinion.

It does suck when people leave, but I haven't seen it happen much so I am thinking you got very unlucky. Especially getting ARF so many times in a row. You cannot stop people from leaving dungeons. They might not leave for the reason you assume they leave either. It's probable they all left due to not wanting to do ARF, but unless you track all of them down and ask why (and they tell you the truth) you'll never know for sure if they left for that reason or another.

Kinda odd story that happened in my trial roulette. It's Thordan, first time bonus popped up, we started. WHM died to a cleave, and the scholar never bothered to raise them during the entire fight. According to their gear, the WHM was the bonus, and the scholar could easily soloheal, but... why!?

I really think blaming SE for the problem is a little unfair as it still happens with the bonus. They just don't want to run it and happily ditch people in a mandatory story dungeon due to laziness imo. Colour me strange but I'd feel bad if I ditched someone just trying to get though the story for the first time (especially with all the content they had to get through just to be there) which is why I ask them to push on without one.

If the tank we got doesn't want to tank then I'll substitute for the run and make sure we have a laugh doing so xD The healers find it an interesting change haha.

I know nothing can be done about it as because it's down to the individual but I'm still calling them out on the bs they pull. Well at least the Research Centre has some interesting fights and mechanics (if simple), unlike Neverreap which is simple but not interesing in the least... Oh how I dislike Neverreap ^^

Several people in my alliance started complaining when I used LB 1 on the first boss. Someone whined that it should be saved to "LB3 pull the queen." Luckily another DPS spoke up and pointed out the LB bar drains on boss engagement. -__-

That is the same for Midas Cuff of son. Once you engage with Vortexer, the previous LB will be drained so its better to use on Swindler. I never noticed it till a few weeks ago so i always remember to use it before going to Vortexer.

Leveling roulette on WHM - the Aery..
Got matched with a pre-made group of PLD, SNM, BRD - tank is helping dps, and giving advice etc so I kept quiet.

Tank did a big pull at the start - which would be ok except he paused part way through then changed his mind (so I had already healed/pulled aggro). Then things were dying really really slowly. I ran out of mana - wipe. Kind of my fault for healing too soon in the pull though.

First boss - neither dps pass the tether to the statue - not once. After the first time I started to take it off them but still the bard died at least twice due to the tether. Again took a really really long time. I ran out of mana to raise and finished with just the tank and me. Tank never picks up any of the adds.

Second boss, I was trying to dps a lot to speed things up, got low mana so slowed down the dps so I could heal, bomb add ate three clouds (dps were attacking it just way too slow). Manage to keep tank and myself alive and kill boss.

Nidhogg,

First wipe - I run out of mana trying to heal Estinien through the adds (all adds are attacking him directly - little evidence of any dps).
At this point I turned on the parser since i wasn't sure the dps were actually doing anything much at all. Tank complains that I am spamming heals unnecessarily.. Bard appeared to just be auto attacking...

Second wipe - I get jailed - dps gets it down by maybe 1/3.

Third wipe - kind of my fault - I die when running between tank and dps (since of course they won't stand within range of each other) and hit some lag at a bad time.

Fourth wipe - get through adds thanks to SMN LB (not even close otherwise - small adds still up with both large adds). We had gone through three sable jail cycles before getting to the adds - I didn't even know that could happen. Again I run out of mana and wipe. I couldn't take any more and bailed - which I hate to do.

The parse results? Bard is doing double digit dps... SNM is doing only slight more - barely into triple digits. They were a bit under geared but not that bad really. Tank was ok - didn't try to pick up adds but was basically ok otherwise.

How is that even possible - even auto attacking should be more than that. Ifrit was doing more dps than the bard (also Ifrit???)...

Yeah I wasn't the best healer - it was late - my system was laggy and I was cranky - but double digit dps at 56? Really? It would have been better to just ignore the dps - let them die and dps with the tank only.

I felt bad because they were obviously fairly new, but I only have so much patience late in the evening... If they had appeared to have been putting in some effort I would have stayed.

I did an aery a while back on BLM with a SMN who was doing nothing but spamming ruin on the sable prices. I died every time it targeted me due to lack of DPS. (Probably would have helped if the healer helped get me out, but hey.)

They were basically a nice group, friendly and all that - just really really bad dps

Expert roulette, got Antitower. I'm on DRK, as usual. Got DRG+SMN dps and WHM healer. Should go fast, right? The first few pulls went ok - not as fast as they should have, but ok, even though the WHM did a bit of holy spam during my BP on a couple of them.

First boss, got 3 "frog" phases, so I decide not to do big pulls after that. Part 2 trash goes decently, but not as fast as I'm used to (certainly not as fast as I've seen SMNs do before).

Second boss, the rocks aren't dying very fast and I nearly have to stand in 2 AoEs during the second rock phase. Then I fail to notice I'm tethered and eat 2 blasts to the face right after that (oops). Healer is on point, tho, so I don't die. Once again, we get an extra phase. I put "..." in chat, and move on, keeping with small pulls. DPS doesn't speed up.

At Calcabrina, I ask the SMN to LB the second dollhouse phase so we can keep DPS up. He does, and we barely miss seeing the 3rd dollhouse. I tossed the comm to him, since he at least followed instructions, and after the first boss the WHM had seemed to forget where his "Holy" button had gone.

Maybe they were undergeared, but a cursory examination didn't show me that.

Well it's just my opinion that it is still an imbalance problem because of the time spent versus reward. I don't think its unfair to blame them for certain aspects they didn't fully think through.

It still happens even with bonus because two of the other dungeons in the roulette not only give a higher base Eso reward, they also give a higher base Lore reward. So if you are doing level 60 to get Lore then ARF is the worst one for reward (including Nerverreap and Fractal, but those almost always take a lot less time to clear). So the more time spent ends up equaling less reward. Bad design I think.

Its not strange to feel bad I would too so I never leave ARF just because its ARF. I only left that dungeon one time and it was due to IRL circumstances. Every other time I have just completed it if I got it as my roulette. I just personally feel not all the blame should be on the players especially because of the grindy nature of capping tomes or farming Eso for relics and stuff. Efficiency becomes important to people.

Patch in about 24 hours yay!

Isn't the bomb supposed to eat multiple clouds so that the boss' damage up buff remains somewhat controlled? Not sure what the problem is here.

Like I did a VA run the other day and a blm on our team, as soon as the first boss started she just stood there only just inside the barrier as to not be locked out. She was of course ultimately kicked, after repeated attempts from people telling her to start fighting or get kicked.

Two stories!
1st one was a bit ago. Queued with friends for leveling roulette and we got cutters cry. About 3 or so pulls in, I start lagging. Bad. I see the disconnect sign pop up and I'm wailing away at mobs with no combos showing and nothing happening... great. We happened to all be in a voice chat together though, so it was quite humorous to hear them go "uh, you're not moving... WOAH now you're across the room!" At one point, i saw that a bomb was about to explode and I'm on my mic screaming "am I out of the AoE, am I out of it?!" and they're like, "yuuup, you're fine... except, those ground fissures keep hitting you... aaand you're dead". And this proceeded to happen almost throughout the entire dungeon. Never disconnected, just would wail away and then eventually, my screen would look like I was playing sonic the hedgehog on crack. Lead to some funny conversations in our voice chat though...

Other story, was in a bird farm for Bismark yesterday. We went through bout 8 or so times I'd say and I was getting a tad tired (especially since not a single drop had occurred yet ._.) So I tell them all, "I got 1 more in me if we can keep up the same speed we've been doing, so no one mess up!" Of course, I was just joking bout the messing up part (we were all friendly about it, no one took offense). Sooo, we're in there and it's the last part. We just killed the dragons and the bird ads are coming. Doing our usual thing and then bam! I honestly didn't even see the AoE marker, but there I am.... falling to my death. My co-tank immediately writes "no one mess up :P"

It's supposed to eat two - after three it explodes with lots of damage and poison.

Normally i start dpsing add after he eats 1, so it is dead before or right after eating the second... Normally works fine this way :)

I always prefer to bring it down to 1-5% HP and let it eat the third cloud. After the third it doesn't just explode, it starts a very long cast before it blows up.
If it was at 1-5% HP before eating, you can kill it in one hit during the cast AND get rid of another annoying cloud :)

My friend and I were running dungeons because I was trying to get ESO for my relic (didn't make it booo) but anyway maybe 2nd Antitower run.
Friend is PLD and I'm SCH. We get a NIN and a BRD.
Bard is okay, uses Wide Volley when he doesn't need to and deeps is a bit low but whatever. Ninja is........ well
Things are taking forever to die. This run is about 20 min in and we're a little before the 2nd boss. My friend goes "did you know you're out DPSing both the others?" and I'm like...appalled. I love SCH DPS and usually it's my goal to just stay in CS the whole of a run (my friend claims he trusts me) but damn it if that isn't sad

So I'm really bored in that hallway right before the boss since my friend pulled all of it at once and I'm just like "please don't die". The Bard had to go AFK for a sec so it's just the ninja. I take this time to look at the guy's gear and.....

Personally, I don't think it's absolutely necessary for most content.
Apart from EX, or stuff like the coils, I haven't really come upon much I can think of offhand that I couldn't pick up on the fly.

It can also be fun to figure stuff out on your own and not just blindly follow whatever guides there are. Though I am glad those guides are available for those who want them.

I do think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to watch/read a guide for every single duty they go into. That said, the 'endgame' stuff I would recommend a guide for.

Sometimes I don't mind solo healing but other times I'll wipe the party to make my co-healer to get off CS

I fear this doesn't solve the problem. Being in the possession of the new skills doesn't seem to hinder some people to NOT use them, unfortunately.

With most of those you really need everyone on the same page, because if one person doesn't know what they're doing, they will get everyone killed. They're going to have to know the strategy one way or another before you can have a chance of beating it, so its best to spend a couple minutes watching it in a video, rather than making someone type it out in chat. As it stands anyways, most of these strats are so complex that its going to take a lot of trial and error to actually remember how it all works in the heat of battle anyways, so even if you aren't "learning on the go," you're still going to be spending a lot of time figuring out how to put what you just watched into practice.

When I said "solve this from happening" I was talking about getting members who don't even have the spells/abilities even unlocked. If the DF tells them they need to do them it will force them to unlock what they should have for their job and/or let people know they are missing something they should have.

The BLM in my situation was just completely clueless. He had no idea he was missing stuff cause as I was leaving he asked where to get those quests. If the DF told him he was missing something he would have actively searched out what he was missing since the DF is pretty integral to actually making progress in the game. He somehow missed the fact that 50-60 had job quests so another reminder as a requirement for level 60 DF content would fix that issue happening where you load in with people who don't even have it unlocked. That's what I said it would solve.

People who just choose not to use their abilities/spells is another issue. At least if people have stuff unlocked they can be offered help to learn how to use their tool kit if they wish for assistance.

When I actually got around to coils turn 5 I had watched a video, and had an idea of what was supposed to happen, but it still took practice to actually 'learn' it.

For some infathomable reason, I feel like BLM is becoming the new lolDRG. And as a BLM main, I can feel my soul slowly dying with each DF BLM I run into.

Things like: casting Flare at full MP. Using single target rotation when yours truly pulls 5+ mobs, hoping for AoEs. Using Transpose when Blizzard/Fire III is available. Hardcasting Thunder while in Astral Fire. Casting Sleep for whatever reason.

The latest such genius, I ran into in Sastasha HM. I was PLD. Their idea of using Flare went something like this:

Flare (at max MP or near-max-MP) --> Convert --> Blizzard III --> Fire --> Fire --> I don't even know because I'm going to start crying if I pay any more attention.

This run took 30+ minutes. The Kraken took so long to kill, the SCH actually asked if it had an enrage.

Hubby and I did a dungeon with what appeared to be another couple... the entire run all the two did in party chat was type "ribbit" back and forth to each other... for 20min straight! Sure, the first few times it was cute but then it just kept going... and going... like the damn Energizer bunny...

Needless to say, this was quite annoying... I wanted to jump through my TV screen and strangle them both, continuously.

Just had a fun run in the Arboretum.. bard says she's new and we're like cool whatever
Fifteen minutes later and dungeon is done. Fastest run with a complete newbie I've ever had :D

had an awesome run of Qarn, was actually sad when a tank arrived. Went into an in progress, apparently the tank d/cd so they kicked and the other DPS left cause it was their friend.
First message in the chat was "wtf" so was a bit worried! But I needn't have been, we did the first boss minus a tank and the first three stone heads that need to fall on platforms, all perfect :)
Said at the end I wanted to give them all a comm, unfortunately the other DPS ran off too quickly but it made my decision easier :P

And for a confusing one, "duty failed" on Steps of Faith. I've done this once before during the msq as my BRD then healed it twice now, never knew you could actually fail >.< but I did get to shoot down a NIN who, after another BRD used lb did the usual "Lb wasted... >.>". There was a good wait from when the Tanks asked for lb and when the BRD started channelling that the NIN could have used it, the BRD, like me, obviously thought no one else was going to use it. So just went back to the NIN and said "well, get to it quicker next time then :P". Luckily they didn't kick off! :cool:

Time for some day one stories :D I get people are new, but this was just terrible.


Probably don't need to say the Mhach/Nidhogg stories. People not listening when people explain stuff, continuous wipes for an hour.

But anyways, I went to spam Hullbreaker to get new pants for glamour and there were some ok pts, some super amazing pts and then there was this pt... The run was going slow as molasses, so I check the pt. They're barely the ilvl requirement. Figure ok, maybe they haven't played in a while, thats fine. Well, all three of them were new so I ask if they need an explanation of the fights. All I get is "We're new :D", so ok, I explain, only to get yelled at because "we said no but you explained anyways", because saying you're new means no? >_> So, we get to the last boss, I decide not to say anything this time. Well, we wipe, to easily avoidable things, such as AoEs you can step out of etc... when the chests popped up, each time the healer completely ignored them and just ran to bombs and one time, as I'm waiting by a chest for a potion, she sprints in towards mine, ends up getting it before me and goes "I need it more than you do", then she proceeds to die from not esuna heavy.

This wasn't even a "oh I'm new" type of fail, it was a "oh I'll just ignore everything and pew pew, thats how you play, right?!" -.- That also sums up Mhach too lol


Also, bit of a funny one, I queued up for trials, got ifrit. Now, as mch, I never get to use my lb, so I go to do lb3 and the drg flips out at me lol I mean come on, it's ifrit hm, you don't even need the lb for it.
