It will be crazy if it turns out 6.0 expansion had more than 2 new jobs due to how it is the finale of Season 1 storyline. I know they already said 2 new job per expansion is enough but consider we are literally at the endgame now for Season 1 Storyline certain exceptions maybe made to make 6.0 the biggest expansion yet to match how it will be the long awaited grand finale for Season 1.Quote:

Personally I will always favor the idea of a Melee Combat Healer Necromancer, that uses his sweeping midranged cleave attacks of its scythe to steal blood from hittee enemies to turn that Blood either into Minions that can be used as attacking flesh shields for some simoultanous damage dealing and damage tanking, while their dealt damage heals nearby allies and could be used also as living death bombs that you can command to explode to cause bigger aoe damage that causes also various conditions like poison, blindness, vulnerability or slow.
Chemists compared to that are just another lame and dead boring ranged healer like the 3 others, making them heal without magic is no rocket science, it wilk feel only like using more constantly those heal skill mechanics of the current healer, which already cost no mp, but cost therefore something else from a class mechanic, like the whitemages lilies.
I see Thief not becoming a job, unless SE completely reworks the Rogue/Ninja, and turns them into two separate Job Pathes with Rogue > Thief that keeps the Dual Dagger Gameplay and Rogue > Ninja with Ninjas either keeping Duals Daggers, the we would have the silly situation of Scholar/Summoner 2.0 repeated with Rogue to get a trustworthy thief job with own story path that is different from a Ninja - or they switch the Ninja Weapon to rather Dual Swords or Chain Sickle and rework the job based on the new weapons, so that Thief n Ninja are not too similar feeling due to using the same weapon

Berserker could become in theory a dps warrior, but that would be looking dumb on warrior. Thei design screams from head to toe, and would this class not be called so lamely "warrior", then in fact that job should have been called better from begin on Berserker.
However, I still hope, that FF14 will see somewhen for final endgame with 6.0 onward, when this whole Zodiark Ark gets over "finally", the we will get to see with reaching Lvl 99 or sooner with 90 advanced Job Tiers, lets call it Master Jobs and I'd love to see Berserker becoming a Warrior's Master Job Tier

One thing I have noticed with these new developments from the patch is; the same people that always say there will be no Geomancer because of conjurer are fine with Berserker even though we have a warrior. As well as the people who got all excited for the Necromancer boss are the ones that said people read too much into Swallow's Compass.
But on a more serious note about necromancer, have we ever met one that hasn't tried to kill us? Or we have had to kill? It would definitely be a first in the games to add a class that wasn't introduced as anything but friendly so far. Haven't they always been strictly enemy? -

I made a post about why Necromancer is highly unlikely in the "Next Jobs" thread and it can basically be summed up as horribly taboo and would probably put the WoL in conflict with organizations like the Order of Nald'thal and even piss off at least one City State. I also agree with what you said a page back about how the Necromancer we fight in the latest dungeon talks about being tainted. It's a pretty mild understatement to call that WoL "tainted" when she's going around, raising corpses, and turning them into bombs. Necromancer is one of those Jobs that would be incredibly neat to see playable, but just wouldn't mesh with the WoL or the culture of Eorzea.Quote:

God I’d LOVE a GEO caster and Chemist healer. My pipe dream is that Geomancer could use Terrain as a sort of variation of Leylines, encouraging positioning as part of their rotation. This game sorely needs a Druid/Nature based Job after WHM left their roots (no pun intended) behind.

I think people are reading too much into the chemist idea from the miqo'te girl. I saw her story as addressing the issue that 5.2 ended with where all these people who heard the voice of Hydaelyn call them leaving their previous positions to become adventuring warriors of light. There was the fear that the fragile society of Norvrandt would break down if all the guards, merchants, doctors, workers, and artisans decided to run around dungeons and defeat evildoers instead of contributing to a world they sought to protect.
However, with her we get a different "warrior of light" who isn't running around whacking people with a sword but instead traveling around and using the knowledge of medicines from the Crystarium to assist the people of the world, adding to the running theme of getting society back on its feet that we saw with the changes in Eulmore and even now the Dwarf quest line.
I think seeing that as "she's going to run around killing bad guys with tinctures and syringes and heal her adventuring party" seems to be losing the point of it.
I mean, chemist is still a likely job for a future expansion, but I think this subplot will end up being as much a "hint" to it as was the reveal trailer for Stormblood "hinting" at dancers when people saw the "mysterious new blonde woman" moving around in a red dress. -

It will be more lucky if we get a chance to play as that new Job during a 5.4, 5.5, or 5.55 Story instance using a set character skill list to get a glimps on what to expect from that job. -

It does seem rather redundant, and I say this as someone who wants Rune Fencer in the game.
Doesn't help that the other gimmick usually associated with the job is the use of elements, which makes it more Limited Job fodder than anything.
It being a Melee is possible but it's unlikely to be slated for 6.0 unless it introduces 3-4 other jobs besides it (a healer, caster and ranged, and maybe a tank as well) -

Rune Fencer, Spellblade, Mystic Knight, etc: All either Melee with enchanted weapons, or anti-magical Tanks. Dark Knight already covers the latter.
Trying to implement one as a Caster would be forcing a square peg into a round hole, just because you want the hole filled and are ignoring the other pieces available. It would be like trying to implement a Gunblade-wielding healer for the sake of having a Garlean Gunblader, or a Hammer-wielding ranged job, or a Pistol-wielding tank.
There's "plausible if the devs push the boundaries to unleash their creativity," and then there's "plausible if you have a pet smeerp and a patent pending for a time machine." Somehow I get the feeling giving a job 15 variants on Enpi or Lightning Shot would lose its creativity real quick. Lord knows it would already take enough to give them another sword variation we haven't seen yet.
The series already has Geomancer, Time Mage, Necromancer, Green Mage, and any number of Maguses, Mystics and Wizards who could fill a Caster slot, and still offer unique gameplay doing so considering Black Mage is probably the only "conventional" spellcaster job we actually have. Even ignoring largely pedantic arguments about how certain ones are unlikely for X or Y reason, throwing all of those options out the window to implement a Rune Knight "Caster" would almost be insulting to the players who were hoping for more spellcaster options.
