There's a lot of people still doing PotD for things other than leveling. You're missing my point.
They're guaranteed after you learn it. I'm not taking away savage victories. People work hard, they deserve better. I'm against vertical progression cuz it always renders my gear useless with pretty short bursts of time. I would definitely take savage super seriously if it ment something in the long run.
I personally STOPPED caring about trying so hard when I realized the game was gonna stay vertical. Now I just treat glamour like horizontal progression aka the end game.
And it's great for you, that's why diadem drops ilvl 280 weapons. Is for people like you (and that's not bad, I'm not here to judge what people likes or dislikes). But most of the people that don't like that felt a bit salty.
TBH, I don't care i was going to unsub this next week until stormblood. Diadem didn't give me any reason to continue since it's the same as the last time, but with a 1.39% chance to get a better weapon than everyone else.
What bothers me about diadem is that the content is the same as before, it didn't change for better. And the ilvl 280 is just a carrot so people won't unsub from now until Stormblood.
I dont care about the weapons as much I care how the Diadem 2.0 turned out. Fate farming til your heart is stopping. Did anybody check what for new rewards we got? Or at all?
Diadem 2.0 is doomed to be left alone in the next months. Its always about kill monsters, kill, kill, kill. And then you have some casual players who dont know their rotation. Why not make some riddles or something along those lines. Content like this is unentertaining.
Then there are a lot of special snowflakes in this game, because just from judging from community reactions, its more outrage than acceptance for this weapon.
and regardless of whether adding this weapon into the game was a good idea, seeing as it literally has no purpose since we don't have any content in the game where i280 is at all necessary, the clear backlash fromt he community is only separating us, right before the release of an expansion.
The state of the game is not good at all right now.
Regardless of what the area drops, I am looking forward to signing up for a few runs this evening just to see what its all about.
I avoided the initial Diadem release/content, so will give it a go just for something to try. :)
If I end up with a weapon for an alt job, great, if not then that's ok too. None of this is needed or a must have for any current content nor for the expansion, that's all I'm really concerned with.
This pretty much sums up how I feel about it. In fact the last 2 patches have made me care less and less about gear. I have a feeling I'll approach the expansion from an even more casual standpoint. I'm tired of caring about anything gear related other than Relic at this point. Felt a little pissed for about 10 minutes and then got over it.
Don't forget the glamours, gil, mount, minions, and is one of the few places that give you Lore, Script and Poetics simultaneously, making it perfect for Unidentifieds and the Umbrite phase if you lack crafting.
Edit: Oh yeah, and the Materia and gil-sellable items that you can get (like Demimateria)
Serious question tho does it only drop 280 weapons are does it drop any weapons from 250 to 280 , Im not gona drive myself crazy just for a one percent chance of gettin a 280 weapon, Ill do it for something like 260 or 265
This is also a big problem. Why even release something which would annoy X people for sure and please Y people. If you also can annoy less than X players and still please all the Y, by just making it a 275 weapon.
With a 275 weapon, yes, there would be still complains, but way less. Then you could say: "Yea, those special snowflakes."
But with higher difference the ammount of unsatisfied people will rise, while most not-that-well-geared players (players interested in a weapon upgrade, i.e. mostly people without a 275 weapon) just wouldn't care if their free rng upgrade is "only" 275. There are not more happy people because it's 280 instead of 275.
Well, maybe some antisocial people who like it when other people feel bad or some smartass who always thought "Haha, do your grind, idiots." and then was happily suprised that he was double right this time, but everyone else would have been pleased with 275 just the same way as with 280, right?
But there are more unhappy ones for sure with 280 than with 275.
That's why I don't get this. Every idiot would have expected negative backlash.
SE could've also released full 280 diadem left side gear? Why didn't they do that? Yes, it would annoy even more people than only the weapon, but if we learned anything in this thread than it is: Everything is the same. Vertical progression is vertical progression. Gear gets invalidated at some point. Who cares about stats at all is a special snowflake.
So, any reasonable argument why they didn't do that? If there is no reasonable one, then there's also no reasonable one for adding the 280 weapon.
with your snowflakes comment, the forums only make up a spec of the player population, most of Zalera server is excited. Those emergency missions are fun and rough, if your group doesn't know what they are doing, they will get massacured as if they are doing a high tier raid from just the sheer dmg of the monsters. Its no walk in the park.
No one is really talking about the actual fight. It's Diadem, but with fates. Diadem was fun and rough when it was first released as well, and then it became a barren wasteland because it became old and tired. So we got that. I don't think anyone is actually complaining about the actual fight.
My only concern is that SE didn't see this backlash coming with this absolutely unnecessary i280 weapon. It's only splitting the community, even if its just the vocal community. The vocal community may be small, but its the most important part of the community. It represents the feelings of the entire community to the development team. How else can the dev team know how we feel about changes being made, or what are the things we wish to make better, or to nerf, or to balance, or to add and take away. Its teh reason why we have a forum page. This is where & how all of the changes occur.
and right now, the vocal community isn't happy. Its split, and its too close to an expansion for it to be this bad.
I think a +1 in Weapon Damage would've been fine, heck make it i275 to match Savage/Relic weapons, you know, an actual alternative to gearing? Don't just go and stick a syringe up content's ass and pump it with so much damage that you're like "Raiding? Nah. Relic? Nah. FATES for the ultimate weapon whose substats don't matter mathematically due to so much Weapon Damage? Yis!". Much like the knee-jerk buff to AST, this type of loot added into Diadem was nothing more than a way of luring players who were done with their Raid/Relic to come back, otherwise why on earth would we?
Throughout all of HW, you always had a "possibility" of having a better weapon than the Anima. In fact, your precious Anima was only the best weapon for 10 days, and you aleady react that some ancestral benefit was taken from you.
I'd want to add one thing for raiders...you know that the weapon alone doesn't set how powerful your character is ? When you chose your gear, you want a full BiS set, with weapon, armor and accessories. And, to build such a set, it is necessary to clear Creator Savage. So, whatever weapon the casuals you so depise acquire, you still have a higher potential than them and continue staying at the top of the food chain. So stop whining that all your efforts are "meaningless".
This is how I feel the people are reacting to the 280 Weapon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE0uhqaxS_E
But in some way I do find it upsetting that people who put the time into raiding, does not have the best loottable as the loot is the biggest incentive to raiding, otherwise why bother spend time and energy making new raid dungeons and bosses? xD
If this happens in Stormblood, I see XIV heading down the same path with Epic loot drops as in World of Warcraft, and that was one of many reasons I quit WOW back in 2011 :P
I do NOT wanna see XIV follow WOWs path :(
No. Now that you complain that it should absolutely be the best weapon available.
For your information, I'm also building some Anima weapons...but I don't care that Diadem can drop better ones. Especially considering the absurd RNG to drop them.
It doesn't. It gives room to improve to even the players that were at the top. For the first time, an odd patch doesn't say "Screw you, I don't care you're running the same old for the past 3 months and for the next 3 months"
Just look above. This weapon gives a new goal even to raiders...instead of just roaming around without doing any progress until Stormblood.
The reasonable argument that they did not want Diadem to render all other content irrelevant.
Diadem v1 giving out fairly accessible i210 left-side gear and accessories did this for stat nuts in 3.1. Why run any floor other than A4S in Gordias? Why spend Eso on non-weapon gear? You could get just as good if not better gear farming Dino island.
If Diadem gave out i270, much the less i280, gear at anywhere near a reasonable rate, running Creator Savage and buying Augmenting Scripture gear would be meaningless.
A reasonable argument for why the Coven weapons are i280 is that a big enough group of players would consider an a .2% to .01% per run drop chance for an i275 weapon not good enough.
any lower and people would not be interested in the battle content, which requires lots of people to function. You don't have to do the content, even if you are a raider. you're complaining about a weapon that will be invalidated with the expansion, what would one more month or a i275weapon with such rng serve other than to make diadem a non starter with anyone?
Except like Diadem v1, the gear can be turned into spoils, which can be traded for minions, mounts, and materia, on top of this i265-i270 is still very good gear and matches current BiS, an i275 weapon would be "equivilent" to current BiS and would still be farmed, especially for alt jobs. PotD and Aquapolis give nowhere near BiS and yet people run them for rewards because the rewards are good, Diadem should have learnt from these pieces of content.
Again, neither PotD nor Aquapolis requires 72 players to work as a team. You have to give a very good reason for such a large number of people to stop being dicks with strangers.
With such a low drop rate, every player that already has an i275 weapon would chose to get another one from Savage or Anima over grinding into Diadem.
As far as I see it you have no opinion on whatever ilvl weapon drops and also no reasonable argument for the weapon being even higher than every other weapon (e.g. PotD was a success even without dropping the highest current weapon, it was just competing with the current EX trial).
I'm just wondering what's your point. Yes, maybe some are "whining", but some are just displeased, some acting bit overdramativ maybe, too. But still, the fact remains, that the jump to 280 is displeasing at least some people.
And if it's just because you were appointed with some people for light farm, but 2 out of 8 lost interest now, i.e. it might affect my gameplay [even in minor way] also if I don't care for that specific content myself, because in fact many people care about gear. That's not my fault and like I said I won't do that content much anyway. I'll give you even a proimies to trade whatever dropping 280 weapon into spoils. ;)
On the other hand 280 isn't pleasing more people than a 275 weapon. Only if they're tards caring about soon outdated gear and on the same time are too bad or to lazy to do a relic or savage, right? So as bad or even worse than the "whiners" here. Do you want to be on that side?
So, what's your point? You had your laugh I think and whatever they could change (what they won't do anyway), like emergency maintance and setting drops back to 275 (lul), wouldn't affect you the slightest, because "meh, gear", right?
Why do you care about what others think in a thread like this, if you don't care about the topic substantially yourself?
POTD is a 4 man, aquapolis is 8-man, diadem is multiple parties and alliances, a lot more investment, a lot more that can keep your weapon from dropping. I'm not convinced farming the weapon is something that can reasonably be done. and again, it would give the raiders nothing worth striving for with their raiding gear. Why does diadem have to fall in line with the rest of the content in sating the raiding ego that 4 fights is all that matters for 6 months? that just cuts into the number of people participating in it. and if not enough people are interested in chasing the Buer or whatever it is, it will not be beaten.
Im just a bit saltly that the weapon is 280 and there seems to only be a 1 percent drop rate of a 280 weapon but 265 gear that nobody even needs more people need a 265 weapon or 270 weapon than 265 gear by far so this does seem pretty stupid to me the more I think about it. The part that more people actually need is the thing that nobody will even be able to get nobody really needs 265 gear with dun scathe alex normal , and scripts. This really doesnt make a bit of sense why worry about raiders doing this content when they are such a small part of the player base this acutally makes it harder for casuals as far as getting a weapon for making that weapon op and makin the drop rate stupid.
I don't care much about the weapon. I'm more bothered by the fact that their big "overhaul" was turning it into an instance full of FATEs with a PotD-style RNG loot system tacked on to it. Whoopie.
(This reply is based off of what I saw in PF today)
I don't understand the mentality "anyone who manages to get the 280 weapon, but doesn't have a lux or alex weapon are bad players". In PF salt is being thrown everywhere. "Those scrubs who get those weapons are all bad! I have my relic, so I'm still good!" Since when was it ok to desperately hunt for reasons to look down on others? I feel proud getting my alt a Lux. It doesn't bother me that a casual crafter would easily get one based off of good luck. I put hard work into it and got what I wanted. I get the saying bad players will be bad and good players will be good, but a simple weapon doesn't determine that at all.
