I don't understand everyone wanting items in the cash shop either. I'd rather earn it somehow in the game then just forking out $5-$10 for something. Plus, why does anyone want to pay MORE money when we already give them $15 a month for a sub. I play games for the pretty vanity, and I hate seeing everything stuck behind a pay wall. I even stopped playing for a while after they started that since it disgusted me. Only started playing again after 6 months of un-sub cause my friends begged me to come back to the static party.Quote:

Not a legacy, but I have been around for some of the 2.0 special events and not to devalue the time and effort that players put into obtaining the exclusives from events like those but what exactly did we do to get those items? Tagged a couple npcs and downed a few fates. And granted that I had to rush my way to 45 so I could complete the Lightning quests, gained a few levels, tagged a couple npcs and downed a few fates. Things that players do in this game every day, with the exception that they aren't able to earn exclusive rewards for it now. You got it in 1.0? Good, now think about what exactly you had to do to get that item (fate, instanced dungeon, questline or whatever), and then consider how available that activity is today, and add to your list that you happened to enjoy a game enough to stick around and play it despite the many faults it had. There's nobody here who "deserve" things anymore than the next person does, you were just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to get it. -

When you pay for a failing game, resulting in the developers rewarding you for helping them in their time of need, the ego tends to enlarge a little when the subject is brought up.
It's not so much about killing something or other in an event some time 4 years ago. It was more of the fact that without legacy players support, the game wouldn't continue to exist at all.
That being said, the earring in question isn't regarding the legacy campaign at all. -

Moonlet was one of the few items I got for playing the bad game. Please just let me have my few shinies for subbing when the game was awful. Maybe you'll get garbage for playing before HW and you can show off to the plebs of the future.

It wasn't an instance of SE raising enough money from legacy players to make the game. It was an instance of SE deciding to remake the game and working on the game before they started charging anyone a dime. If anything, ARR can be attributed to the fact that SE is a big enough company to fund an entire remake and them wanting a next gen MMO on the market. Legacy money more than likely went toward to continued development of 1.0 as they had already been working on ARR for year or so before they started charging folks and there were many substantial patches and changes to 1.0(~ 1.23 etc) made during that time.Quote:
