I don't care about what Zepla thinks and the only reason she is back to covering FFXIV is because her channel and brand is failing and in a desperate attempt to stem the bleeding and stay relevant she is outrage farming the state of the game.

The same can be said for OP's posting history. Or others who contribute even less. Whats your point.Quote:
The problem with the post is nothing was shared, no discussion was had, nothing at all was added to the conversation
Yep. Im the same,. Streamers make sense but their error rate is high.Quote:
heir post was I don't care what a streamer thinks and I have opinions that I am gonna keep to myself.
Thats pretty much accurate. I dont set much stock in streamers either, they usually have their own agenda, MANY of them use the game as a means to an end, i.e money so you have to take that very much into account. I have a huge soft spot for Zepla, she has had some rotten events happen in her life, but that doesnt mean i dont take her stream comments with a pinch of salt.Quote:
You are drawing conclusions from a pretty ambiguous post where you can also come to the conclusion they are saying they don't need anyone else to tell them they don't like where the game is going.
I don't disagree that the OPs post was nothing more than watch this video, however the video has a lot of good discussion points with potential issues with the game. I think the point is that there are some valid points Zepla brings up and are worth the discussion, especially since FFXIV streamers are generally pretty positive in their discussion of the game and having one come out with a video of the perceived problems is interesting to talk about. I get that a lot of people don't watch/like streamers at all, but it has been brought up multiple times that they are essentially our only way of directly discussing issues with the people in charge of the game's direction and their opinion has weight if for no other reason than that. Whether you agree with the opinion or not is another reason the discussion is important as it is potentially our way to convey either you agree or disagree and why and have the ability to perhaps refine the streamers opinions before they take them to the devs in the media tour.
That is why the discussion is important. Streamers do read the forums from time to time as seen by them farming content from it and besides commenting on the video on youtube it's about the best way we have to convey that message.Quote:

And it's fine to disagree with her opinions, but at the same time say why, say what your opinions are, post something more than "I don't need others to tell me my opinion" and nothing else.Quote:

Thank you, my post is just to share a thoughtful video, the video says it better than I can, so I didn't add anything it's really that simple. But some people in this thread are crying that I didn't add to the discussion ? No thanks I have nothing to add, Zepla's video summarized everything perfectly.
You missed my point but never mind.
I had to literally hold my sides in to see Hazzikostas REWRITE HISTORY.
WE WARNED him and all the devs about what Garrisons were going to be, we told him, again and again what was going to happen, as usual all the beta advice was tossed out and ignored. He was told that if he ignored the players feedback and went ahead with what was described as "this is the expac all the devs wanted to play"...Karabor, Bladespire, all the cut content, Fort Copypasta and Camp Zug Zug, all the mistakes of WOD were foreseen and ignored.
WE BEGGED THEM not to cut flying, we posted reams of feedback on why we wanted Karabor and Bladespire, we were told we could spend time in the new Shattrath and it was gutted instead.
WOD was get to max level then raid or die. We told them this was a bad idea. They didnt listen.

None of these locations made it to Warlords of Draenor. The islands, including Farahlon, were removed from the in-game world map by launch, though they still appear on in-universe maps. While the Ogre Continent is still present on the World of Warcraft world map, it is rarely mentioned outside a few lines of dialogue.
Id link it all and show you...if it hadnt been sent down the memory hole.Quote:
Plenty of features were changed during Warlords of Draenor, but none were so egregious as Garrisons. Garrisons were imagined to be World of Warcraft’s player housing. Players could put their Garrison in any zone, and could freely move it later. Followers would be fully customizable, and could complete quests, dungeons, and even raids on behalf of the players. Buildings would be highly-modular, with versatile placement, decorations, and multiple powers to choose from.
Almost none of these features made it to Warlords of Draenor. Garrisons were stuck in the Frostfire Ridge for Horde players and Shadowmoon Valley for the Alliance. Buildings could not be customized, could be placed in only a couple spots in the Garrison, and had specific powers. Followers were not customizable, and the rock-paper-scissors-like Mission Table replaced their dispatch. Other early ideas, like battle pet breeding, never made it past the concept stage.
Oh yes
Equating WOD with Endwalker is the most hilarous take there can ever be. The two are nothing alike in any sense. Saying that its fine to take breaks in WOW when the game is an endless series of chores like Torghast to stay ahead of the player power curve, and has been so for YEARS?

In WoD...unless you raided, there was basically nothing for you to do. In EW, we have things to do, but they didn't really bother to make most of it fun, engaging or even worthwhile. So yeah, I guess the similarity would be that neither of them are particularly fun? Beyond that...I'd take EW despite it flaws over WoD any day of the week. WoD was bad. No one can really understand just how bad unless they were there.
No I don’t have to watch it. Op posted enough that I don’t need to watch a 30 minute video as a prerequisite to posting. Posts were made here within minutes of this thread starting that I doubt watched it.
I think it's also especially notable that Zelpa is saying this because, as she mentions in the video, she was on of the people in the early 6.x patches telling people to wait and see what was coming. AND she has built her online "brand" as an FFXIV content creator as one of the original WoW refugees and is seeing parts of what drove her away from WoW in the FFXIV development teams lack of engagement and dismissive responses.
To be fair, Zepla does make some excellent points. One thing that went completely over my head is that they're baking the trials right into the MSQ now whereas in the past they used to have their own dedicated side story series associated with them. I loved the trial stories in Stormblood and Shadowbringers. It's sad to think we might be missing out on another "Sorrows of Werlyt" or something.
As far as the MSQ patch storyline goes, I do enjoy it, but it does feel like "filler" material. Not that it's bad, but simply that it doesn't feel like it's progressing the "main" plot of the game anymore and is not going to naturally flow into kicking off Dawntrail. Like, if the next expansion was actually all about the 13th and it seemed like Zero was really going to have a big role in the future, that would be more exciting and this would all feel so much more relevant. But people are already predicting she's going to be killed off. I really hope not.
With regards to relic weapons: I'm kind of ambivalent on it. On the one hand, I understand the disappointment at not having any kind of engaging gameplay tied to acquiring these weapons, it's just tomestones you can get from roulettes and such. A lot of people seem to want some kind of Bozja-esque zone to work on and grind out a lot of time in. On the other hand, I like being able to get a shiny new weapon and keep up to date power-wise without having to do a lot of grind. I don't like just grinding FATEs all day long. I get bored of it after just doing a few. If it takes a ton of repetitive work just to get ONE weapon, then realistically a lot of people are just going to play one job. I don't want that at all, I like having the freedom to bounce between any jobs I feel like playing that day. I don't know what the solution is.
As I have said in every zelpa thread that keeps being posted here. Who cares about some literally who e celeb. Base your own opinions and don't listen to someone who you're forming a parasocial relationship with.
OH...PLEASE.....Quote:
I'd agree to disagree on that front.
Koros? Hunky whatever? Titanmen?
Spare me.
And you are wilfully ignoring the point. Nobody is saying "you have to take what a streamer says as gospel". People are asking if others agree with what said streamer is talking about. I for one am glad that Zepla made this video because it seems that streamers and big youtubers are the only people Yoshi-P will actually listen to anymore.
Balmung server it's about to explode.
There are so many people in Uldah much more than any year before but sadly those type of players are here exclusively for the ERP/Mare community and nothing else.
I have no particular grudge with the original poster of this thread, regardless as to whether or not they're one and the same individual that you're referring to.
The thread's premise intrigued me because I think it's good to see a prominent streamer speak out on problems that many players around these parts have brought up themselves as concerns. It's not much deeper than that for many, I'd imagine.
Okay I agree with her because she shares an opinion I already had (and have discussed ad nauseum on here) I’m here discussing it because I’m happy that someone with a large voice in the 14 community is willing to discuss this (especially because it jeopardises her cushy perks)
Saying “form your own opinions” is just a thinly veiled way to say that her opinion is worthless which is wrong regardless of whether you agree or disagree with her actual opinion
This forums =/= "many"Quote:
that many players around these parts have brought up themselves as concerns
I have been playing since launch and continue to play it as often as I always have. I still love the game. The game does not suck. The game is very good. You are welcome to your misguided opinion. Be prepared for people like Zepla and other FFIXV "quitters" to come out of the woodwork when Dawntrail drops to suck every last dollar out of their viewers. Suddently FFXIV will be the best game in human history.
Damn 19 pages dedicated to a zepla video… suppose il watch it first to form a genuine reaction or opinion to it. I’m not quite sure what she thought would change in 6 months when the games patches are every 4 at the earliest for one thing…. Now as someone who is on a break where I just log in every now and then because I’m loading content to the bigger 6.5 drought. I agree with her views on exploration zones, relic wise I’m not really sure how changing steps from do fates X times to just run dungeons for tomes is in theory any different (for some steps not all)
MSQ is subjective and I think it comes across as a bigger low after a massive high. Personally I think it’s been ok, not the best but the way she says it’s lazy then dunking trials into it is a little harsh. Tartarus grand adventure and the omega quest sort of act as this expansions side story so cause trials didn’t cater to that they put them into MSQ this time, which I don’t think is an issue. I’m not liking her constant use of the lazy wording because if I wanted to be petty I could say her whole channel and content cycle is lazy design too. But seriously just because bosses became predictable isn’t lazy… the patches are a homage to FF4 the pieces were in front of you… the boss order was the same in that game it made absolute sense they were to follow it… I don’t see that as a bad thing in this one instance. She uses the weapon quest as comparison but if you were a FF7 fan then you knew all the bosses then as well so I think in this instance it’s some personal bias there.
In regards to island and variant/criterion there does need to be work to make more reasons to do them. With dawntrial looking to do another lifestyle content have it interconnect with the sanctuary. They are using variant as well actually create a reason to replay if your going this content route long term and deep dungeon they’ve commented more ways to enjoy it or use it. They just need to develop longevity and if they can nail it then it would fix a lot of issues especially if they tie longer grinds or relic to them.
Also can’t wait for people to check the Yoshi P announcing what the 2 new paid dlcs will be about for FF16 and them working on the PC port. The team is split oh no! It’s not like we have a massive team that can work on multiple projects or use outside contractors or other divisions within the company :P teasing aside Zep needs to stop saying she’s not doomsaying with titles like that especially and also the OP Gaius Titan alt I know some users say everyone who’s negative must be Titan… no they’re not but the ones who post threads often and with stiring in mind are and it’s obvious if your on the forums so much you’d know how obvious they make it lol
You are welcome to your fanboy thoughts too, but yeah, if the game does stop sucking and becomes good again they’ll sing praises. Why wouldn’t they? We all want it to be better. Except people like you who think it’s the perfect game and would rather see it crash and burn being this stale instead of improve.
She's spot on imo and her critique isn't even that bad. She prefaces every negative point with how much she loves the game to the point that it's a little annoying at times. But what she's saying the game needs to work on is 100% accurate.
Forum responses have been predictable. I only came here to see the inevitable head-in-the-sand response to a well known XIV content creator echoing the same critiques many of us here have been saying for months/years. Maybe next they will say that Zepla is a Titanman alt, lmao
Forum posters love to say that the forums are a minority echo chamber and that reddit is biased, now most of the big WOW streamers that came to 14 after the great exodus have either left to go back to WOW, other games or just use 14 as a side game when their side game is boring. Now one of the oldest WOW refugees who’s probably older than most players here, and is also one of the largest 14 exclusive streamers has put out a video critiquing EW’s content volume and they still don’t acknowledge it
Genuine question if you are arguing in good faith what is the point you are willing to admit that this may in fact be a legit problem the game is facing outside of yoshi stating in the next live letter the game is actively failing
I like this game too, but I can't ignore the problems with it however.
But..I think I said everything I wanted to say from other topics about this game, I have nothing else more to say until I hope they can change this game around, but it does not seem very likely.
I think whatever they learn from FFXIV is going to be done for the next FF MMO, and hopefully the same mistakes don't happen again.
Also
I kept in mind this game is old, and has its limitations.
I do appreciate Yoshi P and his team for their commitment to filling out every named place as the story goes along.
Some MMOs never take you to all the locations throughout its complete lifecycle.
Least I hope that trend will keep going for the next 10 years, and we visit every country, island and continent of Ethierys.
I wonder if the XIV forum moderators will ever figure out how to IP ban to prevent people from making accounts once they have been banned. It would save us- and them by proxy- a lot of trouble.
Re: OP
Sure, Devs could do a better job. Hopefully they do. It's easy to rest on one's laurels and that's how the 1.0 debacle happened in the first place. Here's hoping they do better! And if not, I'll play something else.
Re: OP's thread being needed/pointless/etc
I mean, really OP is likely an alt to get around daily post limits. And if they aren't it doesn't really matter.
Maybe their fun is in stirring the pot or otherwise causing people to get in a huff, but generally their point is one that could be discussed without fighting. And even that doesn't really matter.
The ultimate take-away should be if you spot something obviously made for getting people mad, just don't engage/reply to it. If one has nothing to say that furthers the conversation, just let it be. Even troll posts can become productive if people just discuss instead of having to prove something.
A mantra of mine I wish I followed more was "Does this thing I typed out do anything to further the conversation? If not, delete and move on". I wish I would stick to that more.
People in the game are genuinely concerned about some things. What I see discussed in the game as well is how boring and easy healers are, how jobs were dumbed down such as SMN, or the lack of things to do in the game. But this is mixed in with a lot of positivity as well. Just like on these forums, people are split on SMN and many people like the new SMN. Many people love just using their heal spells and nothing else. People have always discussed a "lack of things to do in the game", long before Endwalker and the only thing you could assume of such people, at least prior to Endwalker, is that they don't do all the content in the game or they rush through it all in one go, or don't actually farm for mounts or other rewards. Not liking Endwalker's story seems kinda common because of the pacing or how the deaths are done. There is a prevalent belief that FF16 took away focus from FF14 even though Yoshi-P has denied this (since they were working on FF16 since Stormblood started development).
A lot of people are in quite a positive frame of mind just because of being newer to the game and still having lots of jobs to level. So they are still excited to try out a tank or healer they haven't unlocked, for example. Whereas someone who has played for a really long time has probably had time to play and level everything and is more likely to be bored.
As for people's contentment with taking breaks, actually, I don't see people having much problem with this. I see Returners regularly. They have other games they want to play anyway and Returners always seem happy to be back and to get into the new content.
There is genuine feedback on this forum sometimes. It just gets mixed in with a whole lot of nonsense, such as discussing streamers personal lives, alts, random dramas, the state of the forum, questioning eachothers' sincerity, topics saying what we should or shouldn't do or discussing duty finder players that isn't actual feedback the deveopers can use, or even completely off-topic subjects such as other games. Sometimes it's been so overwhelmingly negative that it isn't even reasonable, but it seems better now so maybe some of those people left. Sometimes there have been new topics that don't even make a constructive argument from which a proper debate can occur. At least titanmen comes up with them with them for their posts, because whether you see it as bait or not it allows for actual debate.
OP : posts video about a content creator that says the game has issues, but that some things are good
TheGrimace : I hope OP gets banned for posting the video !!
Great community btw, too bad he seems to have infinite accounts so you dont get your echo chamber of toxic positivity, cry about it.
Yup, I noticed that as well. Almost like she's having to do it because she knows certain people won't listen otherwise - and even then, they still assume the worst, as we saw in this very thread.
It is amusing to me that some posters here are claiming this is nothing but a den of trolls etc. Perhaps it reveals more about their own intentions and contributions here than anything else.
I mean, Zep has been branching out already. With how many hours that she has put into FF14 she may really just need a break.
