Hey, if I find the third then I can pose in front of the moon on some 40 year old's shirt!
If you ONLY want top end hardcore content... then you are going to have to take breaks in between that content.
There is alot of things to do in this game, and thinking that developers can just spit out content faster than you can say Ultimate Raid... then think again, players will always catch up... and I don't see the playerbase willing to pay 50 dollars per month for more staff to toss out a bit more extra content to do per 2-3 months.
And then I told and said that it is possible to get more content out, but it has a major cost and most people don't want to pay 600 dollars a year to run one subscription... heck we are even still waiting on the inflation to hit on FFXIV that may even turn up the monthly fee by 1 dollar or something.
One of the biggest cost for companies and small businesses and likes is actually wages, how odd it may sound to you, you need more staff, the game will be more costly to run, you would need to increase the subscription fee, and you will still run into a wall by running out of content constantly, because you can't just create stuff that will last for months like that.
You can't just take money from other projects and other places, you need to generate the money from the current game to make it grow, or you will end digging yourself into a hole.
FFXIV is still playing catch up after Covid-19... during Covid-19 we got lesser content than what we get now..... and then there is the War going as well.
Yes it may be insignifient for you to take note of, and yes they are working on a major FF title, give me a reason to why they should not? And also FFXIV is not forgotten, it is probably SE's biggest success to date, It would be naive to think they do not want to spend time on FFXIV.
News flash, the world doesnt involve around FFXIV. Stormpeaks seriously go out and touch grass in another video game. Your addiction and malding of FFXIV needing to spoon feed you content 24/7 is cringe af.
Also thats not how budgets work. Each project has their own budget to spend, so nothing can exceed what the studio is given to spend, so quit trying to manipulate this narrative of yours. Youre are really reaching the "peak" of this storm of yours.
....what? that was a good play on words.
I never said FFXIV wasnt a success though, it very much is, and it aint forgotten either, but it was put in the backseat for the sake of FF16, leaving FF14 with barely any content at all, they dont need more staff, they need all of the staff they put on FF16 to spread out with FF14, but they'd rather focus all the way till the end, no matter how much it hurts 14.
You literally have no basis for this crap that you're spouting. Could you please actually show some proof of this being the case in interviews or news articles beside the most well known thing that the HW team wrote FFXVI and Soken composing its music and Koji doing the NA translation..
positions that still have no meaning to affecting the content of FFXIV I keep saying but nobody wants to listen.
Reported for constant harassement, insisting a little bit on your opinion is okay, but you're following me through every single post I make, and it's getting actually creepy, get off my face and stop being weird.
Also from now on you're ignored. I dont mind talking with someone that has their own opinion, but you are way past harassement at this point, and I aint gonna entertain that. You'll be the first and only one on my ignore list, and that's okay with me.
so this is new, didnt realize wanting to discuss things with people is now harassment? Whatever I guess.
If the relic was BiS for each patch they update it then I wouldn't mind it being a grind, why would I want to grind a weapon when the savage one is better and obtainable in far shorter time.
The one time the relic weapon was stronger/equal to the savage weapon (for like one month) the raiding community went ballistic and the devs decided to never do that again...which really sucks because I'd really like for it to be as powerful as the savage weapon, but only for the x.15, x.35, and x.55 patches. Why those first two? Because the raid tier is about to become older content, and it's not like people will stop raiding when they get the relic since the mount and ultimate unlocks can be a powerful motivator.
He's not wrong though; You are claiming FFXIV has taken a back seat to FFXVI- please show your work.
The evidence thus far shows otherwise; Endwalker as much as I dislike the overall story has the most content that I personally will engage in of ANY expansion to date. It has a deep dungeon. It has Hildy. It has the island sanctuary. It even has a new jumping puzzle at Gold Saucer. Even the "minigames-missions" where you take control of NPC characters are significantly more prevalent than other expansions
I mean, heck, Soken even wrote the music for Endwalker while he was HOSPITALIZED WITH CANCER. That would have been the absolute easiest out of any dev in this game to allow it to "take a backseat" but the man soldiered on.
Combine with the Covid, the economy and who knows what else and it'd have been an easy excuse to do worse. I mean, just the cost of electricity in Japan has gone up by like 25% since the war started.

but it was put in the backseat for the sake of FF16
Im glad you remain a voice of reason with a select few others on here. There is no basis for that statement, EW to now has more content variety then Shadowbringers to 5.3 that is a fact. The only difference is replacing exploration for deep dungeon....the only other fact remains they need to nail longevity on this content. We are due 2 more variant/criterions and an Island Sanctuary expansion...these need to hit home. Also people are pinning FF16 cause it's being shown more...almost like it's the media tour/marketing push for its upcoming release lol. If there was to be an issue with workforce it would of reared its head in SB/ShB but it did not so move along people saying FF16 took things away. Funny when from July to next year expansion release we are going to get a ton of media push for FF14. My main gripe is people using the 'spare no expense' and going well its not showing is it....the upgrading of NA servers seems like an expense to me...money goes to all aspects of the game not just content.
It may be garbage but its how the industry has probably remained as it is...I could imagine if everything was under one umbrella complacency would set in. Not going to say competition and innovation haven't happened they have in some degree but exclusives make money simple as that. Why would a console maker who owns studios put their product on something else that isn't there own? They want to shift hardware just as much as software.
there will always be more casual than hardcore players, this is the case in every fan base in any medium, nature of the beast. Because this is an mmo with a sub, this means the casual playerbase pay more money than people intrested in harder content. There are harder raids because you HAVE to have some in an mmo, but you remember his coments the last ult.
But in the end, you dont listen to people who complain the most, you listen to people that pay you the most. So there will always be shorter, easier, more easy accesible content because thats the most amount of content the most amount of players will do. Hope this helps.
I don't even think it's garbage. It's no longer a big deal as it's used to be, but the first 2 generations of the Xbox the console war were all the rage. Microsoft basically threw around FU money to penetrate the market and Sony had to keep up, and Nintendo have to innovate in a different direction because they can't compete financially. If someone stay exclusive in the PC space I can understand why they're not aware of it, but the current state of gaming industry greatly benefit from that period of the console war.
And it's hard not to think the exclusive deal benefit the end product in some way, because with it, a studio would:
- Still making the same game.
- Have more money to spend on the project vs not having them.
- Receive extra technical support and expertise vs not having access to.
- Able to focus working on one platform at a time vs multiple one at the same time.
It's not just gaming, but I cann't imagine any workforce wouldn't be able to chunk out a better product while working with all the extra advantage? I think there is a reason a lot of triple A tittles that tries to go mutilplatform on day 1 end up being a dumpster fire (like Cyberpunk). When that happens certainly there weren't anyone around saying something nice "we appreciate you trying to go multi-platform on day 1 and we will now patiently await your fix". Like, they received the same criticism and abuse, if not worse than if the company had gone down the exclusive route.
Also, if you're chosen as not just any exclusive, but also the face of the platform (like FF tittle are), the QA on the final product gonna be even more strict, after all Sony nor MS would want their "representative" turning into an embarrassment. That's why I feel like pretty much all the flagship exclusive usually come out in impeccable state. The way I see it, if a studio is offered a time-exclusive deal, there is almost zero reason not to take it.
Because the relic is supposed to be the non-raiding alternative for an endgame weapon and like Ryu said, the one time they were even close the raiders lost their minds. But it's really not hurting anything for them to be as they are because they're still a good upgrade if you don't raid or do Extremes. So they're not all glam for everyone.
So what you're saying is...

I mean, relics have never been about difficulty in that sense, have they? they are grind content and grind content is a test of willpower, or, "how much can you afford to let your soul bleed before it's too much?", which is definitely an overly edgy way of putting it, but I was trying to play on your words.
If you don't see value in repetitive masochism then why are you playing an MMO? Even now, the grind that people complain about would make an early 2000s MMO fan laugh in tears, lol. I'm not saying the genre can't evolve but evolution is one thing, transforming into something else is a different story.
Who said worse, there are plenty who enjoy a crazy long grind. Relics were like that in MMOs at one time so it's shocking to many when WoW started to hand out relics for rather easy requirements. Some don't like the term "welfare relic" but it's not like that name came out of nowhere. It's XIV, so I know that there will always be this odd line drawn between easy and very difficult. That said, I seriously do not consider 1500 semicurrent tomestones a meaningful grind. Then again, I like the ARR relic books. Fite me. /box
But at some point it starts to be the case that you don't want relics, you want something else entirely, you just also want to be awarded relics for doing something else entirely, which is fine to say you don't like something, but you can also just, move past it and not do the content that you don't find engaging, because other people do, and want this type of content, so it should still exist the way it does now.
Seriously, the biggest issue with the current relics for people is that they aren't grindy enough, a lotta people wanted them to be harder, because they wanted to occupy themselves while still playing the game.
