Way to completely miss the point to try and argue with me, haha.
To others - you realise just because YOU don't find old content fun doesn't mean others feel the same? I don't care how long you've been playing or what you've cleared. I've played a very long time and still find something to do. There's still other things to do, and just because you think it's "fluff"doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but most of you are just whining and giving no constructive feedback whatsoever, and then when someone tells you there's other stuff you could be doing, it's "waaaah that's content that doesn't appeal to me personally!"
If you don't like the new relic, that's fine, but don't pretend the relic is the only content you have right now.
how many people did it? 8-9% of the communauté? why? because most of the communauté don't want to do the raid.... people haven't stop to ask for something different, but instead we get a grind idiot and boring at that.
plus the raid, people that did beat it are enjoying it, that why they play this game... here people complain because that simply not fun, not appealing nor even decent to add this sort of grind.
in a way it's insulting all the people that have pointed in the past that this grind is boring and not fun!
not everyone have a zeta a lot have to do the farm of crystal before do the dungeon for get the 200. the dungeon part are still ok, but behind this... the crystal part before and the ... thing after are simply idiot! don't tell me in 6 month they wasn't able to thing at a better way to do the relic? more actually almost 11 month ... i seriously wish they redo ask the community instead to look at the number they get from them database... number are not what people think or want.
ps: relic quest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsoS0FKjnS4
Lol. I just heard about the new relic quest from a friend. Don't think I'll even continue playing till my sub runs out. Didn't yoshi-p say he wouldnt want to do the atma grind himself? You need to do it again and old dungeons? R.I.P FF14, casuals won't get this weapon till there are 8000 more stages and 3 more expansions.
i don't cautious the fact to call someone white knight, but i still don't see how we can defend this quest. it's like the people defending the diadem and the hunt.
most of them argument are if you don't like do something else or it's mmorpg....
exept a game genre must evolve, see if people will want to play at the same fps than doom today... they want more and is natural, new experience and such... exept here no new experience, no fun, no achievement... you can't defend this! they need to stop to that sort of content and work on true content.
It's just - you know, I really don't get the concept. These weapons are supposed to be legendary, one-of-a-kind-unique things in the realm. And to get such a weapon, we're (once again) forced to do the most menial, the most mind-numbing things for the longest time possible? Things that - "offer no challenge" doesn't even describe them correctly, they're waaaaay below even that. And, once again for what? A piece of glamour, really, because by the time anyone can actually finish this, we'll have i220 weapons from tomes or raids or trials or something. If not i230.
That is, you know, "anyone" who doesn't sacrifice doing everything else in the game, just for this. Because if you want to grind this out, you'll be doing all the roulettes and all the dungeons as a lv60 for too many days to get the (long-deprecated) poetics and law tomes. And after that you'll either be grinding crafters at an insane speed (and let's not forget the daily/weekly lockouts and limits), or you'll be saving up so much gil that'll be enough to buy up an entire housing ward (theoretically, ofc). Goodbye leveling up alt jobs, goodbye gearing up alt jobs - heck, goodbye gearing up your main job too if you haven't yet.
And all this only if you're gonna grind, grind until your eyes bleed and your brain dissipates and your soul is in shreds - in this case you might have a slight chance of finishing the weapon before it turns into a piece of maddeningly expensive glamour.
Otherwise, if you don't want every aspect of your existence to disappear, if you don't want to obsessively grind it out, if you don't have the time to grind out it - you might have a chance of finishing it by, perhaps, 3.5. By which time everyone will be running around with i300 weapons (at least). And then of course, by that time, you'll also have the next 5-6-7 steps ahead of you to do as well.
I really don't know what you, devs, wanted to achieve with this. This is not "giving the players new content", this is not "giving the players content" at all. This is, once again no fun at all, in any way, shape, or form. This is not a viable alternative of getting a relevant weapon at the current time (as it is right now, I'm willing to bet that a fresh player who just picks up Alex normal right now, can get an i210 weapon via that route, through Alex Savage, sooner than they'd finish this), heck, this isn't even a viable alternative of getting a months-ago-relevant weapon. And it's certainly not a reasonable way of getting a piece of glamour (although, with the glamour pieces having the history they have, this bit is hardly surprising).
This is simply a very blatant, maybe even infuriatingly obvious way of forcing lv60 characters back to old content - and for what? Having all the jobs available for everyone to level up is not incentive enough? Is not an amount enough not to have those dungeons dead? Do characters with lv60 battle jobs not have enough things to do? (Well, sort of, with all the restrictions, even if they have the time and mood, they can't grind to have everything geared up, for example). Do characters with lv60 battle jobs really not have anything else (never even mind anything better) to do? Is this a sign that we're gonna have even bigger droughts where doing these things is gonna be necessary to occupy ourselves?
Are we really going to go so much against the core "everything on one character" principle of the game, from now on, that you felt the need to start promoting crafter specialisation in such a way? (Are the daily/weekly limits not enough to go against that?) Do the handful of already filthy rich crafters really need yet more opportunity to gain even more gil that they can't spend anyway because there is nothing to spend it on??
This is simply sadistic. This is simply very, very frightening.
If you speed run Alex, it'll take 3-4 minutes. Twenty a day would be roughly 80 minutes. Let's toss an extra hour if you don't have a dedicated group and resort to PuGs. So 140 minutes a day. And once again, this is only if you do nothing but Alex Normal for days on end. If you do other methods alongside that grind, you'll cut the amount of Alex runs down sharply.
It won't make me un-sub. But it sure as hell made me not ever want to touch Relic again. That's fine. The 70m I had allocated for relic can now be spent on other awesome things now. This also gives me the opportunity to play other things and not have to spend so much time in game until 3.2.
If on December 23rd during the live letter Yoshi-P and his team make a decision to nerf the relic grind would you all do it? Or is it that a grind is a grind no matter how long or short it is and will continue to be bashed? Does anyone know what is going on in the EU and Japan forums?
I've just spent the past 2 1/2 hours grinding and haven't gotten even one crystal. There is a serious issue if one has to straight do fates for this long and nothing is shown for it. And the fact I only have stage 3 to look forward to is an effing nightmare. This is terrible, And I dont understand why something Yoshi-P himself hates would stay in the game and be promoted and put in. This is a nightmare -_-
I just don't understand why there's so much "exchanging this item for that item and then exchanging another item for another item"...Idk. Was there no way to simplify this lol xD?
Wait a second, ontop of an absurd daily quest/Alexander/tome grind, I have to dump millions of gil into 16 moronic HQ crating items again?
*stuffs ilvl 170 relic into the chest under her bed*
Thanks for saving me the time. I'll stick to my trusty Eso weapon till they nerf the crap out of that quest.
I am NOT going to do 600+ Alex / grind 50k laws , JUST NO!! normal runs! i am already bored of doing that, worst than Hero quest from L2 10 years ago.... just NO
I have no life and even I don't have time for this. I have my Zeta weapon (or had, rip in literal pieces my bb) and I thought every step was fine, a few were kinda annoying, sure but they were still fun in their own way. The step to get it to zodiac was probably the worst for me but it made sense for it to be so rough because it was the penultimate form for your relic!
This stuff all sounds ten times worse than the Zodiac step and it's for the first bloody form. I was hoping for a charming quest line with my old buddy Gerolt, maybe I'd have to fight some sort of Allagan chimera-hydra monstrosity, that'd be fun! Oh wait, that would mean the dev team would have to make something. Oh... Nevermind......
My sub runs out in 5 days and I think I'll just leave it unsubbed for the foreseeable future.
If it is nerfed into something reasonable, I will do it. If they for example reduce from 20 tokens each to 5 tokens each, that would be a good step towards making it reasonable. Get rid of the crafted items part or make it be an optional way of obtaining the necessary items in addition to reducing from 20 to 5, that would be perfect.
Well the good news is that the specifics of the quest are out early...
I'm just gonna slowly plug away at it and work on other means of attaining weapons. I haven't done any serious raiding in quite some time, but maybe it's time to start again.
So.... Thanks for the motivation SE?
the question isnt ease vs hardness because lets face it this isnt hard its mind numbing mundane stupid s**t i dont feel like in order to get my weapon i should have to be subjugated to doing beastmen, running normal alex and all that stuff whatsoever much less to the degree that yoshi has forced upon us. I log in to raid and do that, i do my main story to unlock the raid. i came back from taking a LONG afk from this game none of my beastmen are leveled and now your telling me its gonna take me a month on that stage because i have to grind that out to!?
Personally I prefer this grind. No rng to it. Got a set goal and can work at your own pace.
If you don't like it don't do it :3
I dunno why folks are griping so much. There are many ways to get the Token items --> https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._weapon_guide/
At least its not like they only did Beastman quests or worse Only hunts!
In fact, I actually think this is an okay system. Sure its grindy, but the next phase wont be out until likely 3.25 or later anyways. Besides, there will likely be other weapons along the way for those that dont have the time or patience to do anima weapons. Say for example the next phase of Alex or w/e.
Sorry I was making reference to the last stage. I sacrificed a zeta so.....
Its the point of it, to be long. It even says so in the patch-notes.
But I guess, as usual, people rants over not being able to get something in less than 10hours.

Anima Weapons Quests
Anima Weapons can be enhanced further by completing the story quests that will be added in future patches. Please note that enhancing these weapons may require players to invest a significant amount of time.
Soooo many salty players.
210 weapons should take a long time to get. Do you guys think that a4s is something that most people walked up to and got a 210 weapon from it within a few weeks?
You guys just want everything too fast. Also, I am sure by mixing up the way you grind that the weapon can still be obtained faster than some of you are making it out to be. Either way, this is the choice you guys made, you want to grind relics rather than face down a4s for your 210 weapons. Enjoy the grind.
I don't think the spirit of the quest is in question, its the laziness in execution and the sheer scale of it. Relic weapons have always been a more steady-paced quest that required more patience, but less of a raiding team or group effort. It was something gained by the players grit instead of a groups. Now though I have to rely on either my grind as a crafter, or rely on a group to craft items for me. Additionally, many people don't do beastmen quests as they are somewhat grindy for little rewards. It's not structure, but the scale of it all.
It's kinda a big snub to the casual playerbase too. Savage weapons were out of their reach before, and now so is the relic. Many people are only capable of playing 4-5 days a week for a few hours and that is not nearly enough time to even come close to completing this by the next patch.
I'm gonna plug away at it slowly while I do other stuff, but I could really care less if i have the shiny new thing. I can really see why this would be so frustrating, especially to those that can't play more than an hour or two a day.
as someone who raids a lot (and last raid we were on 2% on a4s) i find this really... overwhelming...
I need to do 400 a1 and a2 runs to get all the drops from there, then be able skip a3 (law from a1 and a2) and then 80 of a4s. + god-knows-how-much-gil for the crafted items.
And am blackmailed by SE, because at some point there is a good probability that i will need the relic (or some iteration of it).
Can you please help the raiders to obtain it a little easier, like making savage runs drop 10/5 x of them but at a cap (once a day/week).
The awesome thing is, Thodan weapon takes like a few days, is only 5 ilevels weaker and is an acceptable alternative to obtaining a good weapon. Less time than relic, less difficulty than A4S, I'd say being down 5 ilevels is a fair tradeoff and an acceptable alternative.
Okay, there's things that take up our time and aren't daunting.
This is... A little insane.
And I've no crafts either. How do I get the crafted items, SE? Geez...
with regret I'm gonna have to agree.
I was not expecting an easy farm but not such a colossal grind. To the point I'm gonna have to take a break from crafting to do as many alex as I can.
The main problem is the last step (crafting hq is a fantastic idea so keep it that way) My solution for this will be
Instead of 20x 4HQ I'll probably do:
10x items 4HQ
RMT is gonna have a field day with this.
