Personally, I would prefer this game to steer away from the (potentially playable) obnoxiously cute races for a few years. That Miqo'te child just looks incredibly unnatural compared to the Hyur and Elezen children... hell, even to adult Miqo'te (do Miqo'te ears AND eyes start off massive before their skull 'grows into them'?). Way too anime for my liking.

Though if people still want a cute playable race, then why not the Vanu Vanu? Those are adorable.

I've gotta ask though, what's the issue with just playing as the girl Au Ra? Their max heights are 5'3 and their lowest is 4'8, that's plenty short enough for you to play as a girl at like age 15, heck their faces even suggest much younger looks. As much as I detest the younger nadeshiko look of the Au Ra, I've got to ask how is that too old looking for you, because I certainly can't see them as even close to 18, MAYBE 16, but I could see them as younger.

Sure, if completely health adults, pedophilia isn't something that will occur and chances are they'll see it as disgusting. By the way, it's been suggested that police within Japan purposely fudge numbers to keep up the whole "Japan is so properly functioning! Look low crime rates!" deal, specifically with stuff like writing off homicides as suicide cases.

Yeah, an insanely negative social stigma (That changes from country to country mind you) to something that people should have a very negative social stigma attached to. The issue is you're creating a safe environment for them to express themselves, I mean, what's SE gonna do when MrCreepypants invites that Lalaqo'te into his private chambers for some fun? Turns out they realize they're not alone with their sexuality and they begin to form small communities that grow larger and larger. It's how being alienated for some specific feature works, and sometimes it's not a bad thing! Shoot, look at safe spaces such as FCs for legitimate sexualities like being gay or bisexual, that's fine because there isn't anything inherently wrong with being gay or bisexual. But it can also work in reverse. SE knows it can't stop stuff like ERP on Balmung, so they generally live it alone unless if it's in public and someone reports it to a GM. So, what will SE do about those pedophile communities that will grow larger and larger, especially whenever the object of their sexuality is handed to them on a silver platter? I think you're applying way to many defining factors to make someone a "pedophile", point is they are sexually attracted to children, it doesn't matter why it happens, for all intents and purposes of the argument, it just happens. And uh, I'd like to see your sources on that, considering there's plenty of arguments to suggest access to stuff like non-con pornographic material helps increase the want to commit the act.

That's an issue though, you can't just write off pedophiles as some minority, especially within gamer/anime communities. Look at what Lolicons have done to the anime industry, they've warped it into a really disgusting thing where a lot of studios are making content advertised and made for them. Look at what they've done to TERA. Heck, look at what creeps did to "My Little Pony" for an example in the western world. It's a legitimate fear to be concerned of it happening with FFXIV, and until you can (Well SE primarily) can think of a solution to that sort of issue, I'm going to stay fairly firm in my position in not supporting it and hope others stay firm in not supporting it as well.

The question you need to ask yourself is what does it mean to people in real life when stuff like this is added? Race looks like a little girl, acts like a little girl, but it some ~*~1000 year old~*~ little girl is still a little girl. Fantasy worlds and races aren't just something you make up in a vacuum, if it looks like a child and it's wearing a thong and a bikini that just barely keeps them covered, chances are that was designed by some pedophile looking to get his rocks off. So, turns out, you decide more the merrier, you begin to invite your friends who also love cheesecake to the story and they invite their friends and the social environment grows larger and larger. This is how most sorts of community with an established identity start. The issue with this is by introducing an actual child (Looks like a child, acts like a child) race, you begin to cater to the pedophile's wants, and they start to invite their pedophile friends and word starts to spread that "Oh hey FFXIV lets you make a super kawaii lolis/shotas and the GMs don't even care about ERP most of the time".. Guess who that's gonna attract?


Anyways with regards to "Aged" characters, didn't we not get an actually aged Midlander woman til 2.4 with a Moogle quest and Hildebrand? Hell isn't Thancred hasn't changed in 2 decades apparently, guess that means Midlander men are eternally young too, eh? No seriously, either Thancred a 40 year old good with a make up (Which makes sense considering he's suppose a "lady's man" and hits on both Minfilia and her adoptive mother at one point and time). The reality is SE just hasn't made a properly "Aged" miqo'te model yet... Just like how Blizzard kept Anduin Wrynn at age 8 for like 10 years.

It isn't pedophilia, dude. Pedophilia requires a real child. IE children's clothing, pictures, etc. It does not include pictures of animu girls and boys. We can go through this for another 10 pages, but your opinion is wrong on its most basic level.

If this thread has taught me anything, it's that there are some very scary people with questionable ethics here. What could have been a light-hearted post about an adorable inclusion in Heavensward has degraded into a petty squabble trying to justify the unjustifiable. It's disgusting, it's vulgar and it has no place on a public forum.

If you really want to know why game developers are so frightened to add things like this into games, look no further than yourselves. Even when it's clearly benign, some people find a way to twist and contort it into an unspeakable horror. I hope this entire thread gets deleted.

why do you think things like loli doujins or animated videos can continue to be made and sold at conventions/stores?(Comiket) because there is no direct correlation to someone liking loli in print to harming a child in real life.(bolded those two words to make a disconnect between them, on in virtual, the other in reality) i myself dont care much for playing or having kids as something that is playable, but trying to say that someones use of a word is worrying and a sign is pretty out there. what they want is an option, and you are using an opinion to say that asking for that option is wrong.

just something as an aside, its interesting that perception is reality in more than just my job. i really with facts would be used, and not just what people think.

edit-2; saw the cat in game, and i found one problem. either her head is too small, or lala heads are fricking huge. seeing as lalas can never be wrong, i am inclined to think that cat head is too small.
