They already have all of this besides the poetics vendors.

Every ward has a 'plaza' area, with marketboards and bells.
Your personal/FC aetheryte is your route in, with the inexpensive potential for multiple vendors including a mender.

The problem is most players don't even use their own houses. Half of them sit unfurnished, even the small FC ones which are just empty shells with a company chest and a mender inside. If you're not going to visit your own house, why would you bother looking at others and using it as a hub area?

Our fc lucked into a large with 3 other bids, they desperately need to remove the ability of single players to own entire wards somehow

The thing is, those neighborhoods might be real... but if they are, they aren't common.

I've mentioned this in other housing threads, but when I got my house (a couple of years ago now), my neighbors noticed the plot was no longer empty and came by to say hello. I got some decor as housewarming gifts, and we got to chatting.

And we ended up on each other's friends list, we had random "neighborhood roulette night" stuff when we were bored, etc. It was the thing Yoshi-P hoped for, at least in our little corner of the ward (for like six plots clustered close together).

So I get what they originally hoped for.

But my neighbors and I took it for granted, and as wards were added folks took the leap and transferred to get a medium or large house. And while my former neighbors are still on my friends list, I'm the last one left in our old neighborhood... and now my ward is as dead as any other.

And even though all of us miss it, we cannot get it back; the way the system works, there's no way we could ensure we all end up in the same neighborhood again.

The fact that where you get a house is dependent on luck as much as anything pretty much torpedos any hope someone might have of deliberately building such a neighborhood by finding a space with active folks who play around the same time they do. Until you solve that, you can't really expect there to be active, lively neighborhoods... and I don't think there's a good way to solve that under the current housing setup.

13000 houses aren't going to vanish overnight, which is the situation on Dynamis. There is way more supply than demand there which is why people are even mutli-owning. Again, if people really want a house that badly there is supply available. Gotta just go get it and stop being picky, sorry if that's blunt but it's the truth. If your current server and staying there/getting the specific size house in the specific spot you want no matter what is more important then youre doing it to yourself. Ya'll are choosing to bid against 30+ people rather than move FOR FREE and fight no one for a plot lol. Isn't any plot better than no plot?

On Zodiark, so not the most congested but not the least either, every ward/subdivision currently has at least three free plots after the first round, with some, even Empyreum, being 50% empty. My own ward has a Medium and 2 Smalls free, with 0 bids currently. While my friend's Empyreum subdivision has at least 15 Smalls and a couple of mediums sitting empty.
Everyone who wants and can make use of a house can get one on Zodiark, if they're happy with a Small.
The problem is people don't want Smalls, and pretend that there are NO HOUSES available because they won't stoop to a Small.
There's a lot you can do with a Small, it's better than nothing.

Having multiple houses does not always equal being into RMT. As I've said earlier, I know of several people across multiple DCs that own multiple houses or an entire ward and do not engage in RMT. They bought them up when supply outweighed demand, that's all.

Agreed however I'm going to point out that it's not hard at all to make lots of gil in a short period of time. Gambling for example, a friend of mine pulled in 500m in one night just through deathroll. I've brought up market flipping which I can say from experience can also pull in hundreds of millions every week depending on where youre selling and what it is. Auctions are also pretty lucrative if you have an attractive character and a skill to sell.

You can't really attribute making tons of gil to someone just being a bot when there are legitimate methods in game for anyone to make loads of money off of. When people say it's braindead to make gil and we need more sinks, they aren't lying.

Gotta love threads where people talk about others being greedy when they're being greedy themselves at the same time. Either they want a specific plot or they want to rip plots away from honest players just because there "aren't enough people in the FC." Lol.

People following the rules will not be penalized regardless of the sentiments of some especially in threads like this. SE needs to deal with THOSE breaking the spirit of the intent of one private and one FC per server.

It's been more than 4 years since the new rules were implemented and 6.1 brought nothing new to the table other than a lottery. Adventurers are still allowed to purchase homes on other servers and data centers that is not new.

Those who think that they will take those homes away from the community who have done that are dreaming it's not going to happen.

How they deal with users buying 8 FC's per server is the issue they seem to not have been able to deal with and is something they need to find a solution too. .

The solution is simple, move and buy up your own plot to take away the chance for a multi-owner to have it. They're not going to take away from people who have had houses for years, as you said. If everyone who wanted a house moved to Dynamis, problem solved. They would all sell out within the first month. Multi-owners can't take up more plots at that point and the demand will finally actually be greater than the supply. As it stands now, there aren't enough people to buy up the homes there and you're kidding yourself if you'd expect people to not buy up extra land at that point. I'm sure some of the people in this thread would if they had the opportunity. It's just a really tiring complaint at this point when there isn't an issue in underpopulated servers and their own could be solved by just moving.

There's also just the plain fact that the devs intentionally put the ability to own multiple houses in the game, so they want it. I have a feeling that the solution to the 8 FC conundrum would be a rework of that or the housing system itself, which wouldn't be worth the trouble or the reorganization needed for it to go smoothly.

On Zodiark as well, and surprised how easy it was to get a plot, knowing all we know about housing. In the past I rarely saw available plots, and I remember that when 6.0 came out Empyreum got filled up entirely eventually, but now there’s till a ton of plots left.

They had the opportunity this go around to limit housing to one private and one FC per account period. Honestly I wouldn't have been surprised had they gone that route but they didn't. They are allowing those of us who play alts on multiple data centers and servers to buy housing still. Materia and Dynamis have tons of homes available. 4 more servers coming to Dynamis in the not too distant future will be another wave of thousands of homes not counting the completely new data center with 8 servers coming to the EU.

I was frankly surprised and pleased to see them add 6 new wards in all housing areas on current servers and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do that again when more of their servers come online. The overall direction however is for the team to try and lessen the impact of over populated servers and try and even out populations across the new DC's and we are beginning to see that with the implementation of many more congested servers.

One Private+FC per account per world honestly isn't too unreasonable. Per account in general might be a tad too much. You might have a character in EU and one on NA due to different friendship groups, and I don't see why you shouldn't be able to join an FC on each of those unless said FC didn't have a house...
But even in order to do this, they would need to make it so alts on the same world share the same access, meaning if you have a house on one character, any other characters on that world also have ownership or even just tenancy rights. As well as all characters on a given world also automatically joining the same FC. This would unfortunately screw those over who use multiple alts to live multiple lives and hang out with different people, but that seems shady and being all-in on one FC would surely help community cohesion anyway.

I've created a small FC's on servers like Balmung for example where I have four 90 level alts along with an 80 level Male Viera who at the moment doesn't get much playtime but my other 4 get played just about every day, certainly weekly depending on content. Those alts for example all have Cerebus mounts from Bozja DRS and have all cleared the current patch. I share that house with my alts and some select friends as well.

That does exclude me from joining another FC however but I can at least share housing with my alts that way. It's ridiculous that i can go to my house and just because it's owned by another of my characters not be able to use it. It's long overdue but will that ever happen well been 4 years since they said they were looking into it.

The amount of demonizing that goes on in threads like this doesn't phase me some people collect mounts I collect alts. If I have a high level 90 level alt on a server and can get her a house I will. I have characters on Materia, Dynamis, Mana, Light, Chaos, Crystal and Aether. I'm not the typical crazy one would encounter just crazy is all but I'm certainly not representative of people who play alts in general.

People following the rules as outlined by the SE team shouldn't have their homes stripped away with any new rules. I trust SE would never do that and only apply new rules to the community moving forward.

You're playing on a super low pop EU server. In another cycle nearly all NA housing except maybe Dynamis will be taken. Telling people to leave their DC (and FC) behind isn't a solution to what is a developer problem, not a player problem.

Balmung is, funnily enough, the NA world with the lowest "native" population, as in characters that were created on that world and can access retainers/purchase houses whilst on that world. This is not counting crossworld, data center visitors who all want to come and gawk at the "designated" RP world. So Balmung is far from a high pop server.

And I did confirm the post above me, your world is actually the third least populated EU world, whilst being the least populated for EU endgame characters so yeah, it's no wonder there are so many available houses on your world. Congratulations, there's less competition, not everyone else is as lucky.

We just had to have wards added to every world because there were not enough available houses. Everywhere but Dynamis, Materia, and EU basically has their housing snapped up at this point, or will in the next few weeks and we'll need either a way to kick out people from unused or hoarded houses, or need to add even more again.

I know there's a difference between EU and NA, but in our side of the pond we aren't in need for availability.

And you're right. I'm on record of having spoken ill about how Small houses are cramped for large-bodied races, and apartments even more so. Decorations are also a hit or miss with sizes sometimes too. But we CAN do quite a lot even with just an apartment alone.

People need to drop their fear of Smalls. No, that's not a sleight against Lalafell nor an unwarranted immature joke on junk size, I really do mean that people need to stop thinking Small Houses are off-putting. Same for the Goblet as a liveable ward.

And before anyone comments something snarky like "Easy for you to say, you have a Medium", a) I'm a big boy and my tenants are all big boys -w- we need space, and b) my FC gifted me that one years ago with money they had in the coffer before disbanding to go to Spriggan, I was perfectly happy with a Small in Shirogane as a Roegadyn.

Edit: More than 1 House per account, I'd suggest cross-world housing :p Because some worlds are rather empty, and it's not fair to have to move there entirely just for the sake of a house.

Still a bunch on Lamia open for lotto this time around too. The one near me still hasn't been bidded on. Plenty of mediums and I think a large or two left too.

I got a medium last lottery because I played the lottery smart. I picked a house in Goblet right next to the apartment complex and had 0 other bidders. Same with a friend of mine. They got a medium too because they chose goblet and near undesirable locations.

To people saying just server transfer for a house, you realize how awful of a solution that is right? Sure some people might have no connections to their server/data center, but not everyone has that option. FC primarily, but transferring to a different region DC also locks you out of friends and static as well. Those are all big sacrifices that one shouldn't have to make in the first place.

Also DC transfer at all bumps you out of ownership of CWLS, even though you stay in it (and can access it if you DC visit back to where it is). It doesn't even let you keep leader, but bumps you down to regular member (and seems to completely randomly pick the new owner, at that).

This is despite the fact that if you're a Leader (but not owner) on a CWLS and you transfer DCs (again, within the same DC-visit-group) you keep your silver star if you should visit back to the original DC. Likely more spaghetti code at its finest, I'm guessing ...

And yeah. Some people actually still have strong connections within their FC/LS/etc., not everyone has been assimilated to the centralized hive mind Discords that seem to be all the rage lately (I don't get the point really. Some gaming Discords are even as large as a million members. That is literally larger than six U.S. states and the District of Columbia. How is such a place even usable, unless all people use it for is to read guides and have heavily structured ask-the-experts Q&A sessions at the expense of, as I recall from when I last used mega-Discords which was quite some time ago, enormous amounts of phone battery - especially if you work in a place where you don't have the luxury of sitting at a desk with your phone connected to charger most of the day).

It's more of a preventative suggestion really. Of course if you already have very well established roots on a server, moving just for a house is a bit of bad deal. But if you've been on a world that long anyway, you've already had loads of chances to get a house already, through time periods where they weren't so congested.

But then you have newer players or players who haven't really formed more 'serious' relationships who are more or less free to go where they want, but still insist on joining or staying on the 'popular servers' because they're popular for some irrational reason.

Plus FC's come and go and you're lucky if you find one that you stay in for more than a year or so, or that even lasts that long. You might regret 'committing' to an FC you've only been in for 3 months when it all falls apart 3 months later. An FC like that isn't one worth sticking around for and losing out on a virtually guaranteed house if you really want one.

Ultimately everyone has different circumstances and priorities, but for those who are not tied to a serious FC commitment or friends they know well, moving to a different DC is the best option.

Not quite sure how good of a relationship most people have with their FC, but I joined the game and I have been with them since, and I am not planning to leave my FC that I do not own, I am just a part of it. I have friends inside that I don't want to leave behind and I should not be forced in a social (MMO) game to abandon friends to get an item that is supposed to be part of the game...

This is a FANTASY game, where the fuck is the fantasy in having the same level of issues of getting a house than irl...

I feel that SE is doing a terrible job of making things happen and the Island sanctuaries were just a big stab in the back to prove that they could done isntanced housing, they just give zero fuck. But sure its going to be better if a full ward is owned by 1 FC - that will generate a nice neighborhood experience to that 1 person that owns all those houses. Lmao.

I also said I wouldn't even mind not having my own house if I can get the things done in my apartment that are currently only available at housing (like gardening). Because that is basically gating the part of the game. And make different sized apartments. SO people can do decorating on a bigger scale even if in an apartment only.

I dont even get why people who couldnt get a house so far need to make an excuse to anyone, on why they could not make it. This is a game... People are not supposed to be gated like this in a basic content.

Give them a 100% refund for the plot. Let's end the practices of grandfathering and shell FC wards in a game where housing is EXTREMELY limited.

There are an estimated 26,000 players on Brynhildr, but only 9,000 plots. If everyone can own a maximum of 2 houses, that means about 4,500 or only 17% of the population on Brynhildr can own two houses. Now imagine more than a few of those players have created shell FCs using their alts. Terrible odds, that is. With every lottery comes more disappointment for the majority of the population.

Does it make any sense why -- in a game that is supposed to be fun -- the majority of players are just disappointed every 9 days?

I feel like a proper preventative solution to the problem would be making use of the plots that will become available with relocations. Because those will become available, but locked until the next round. If we're going to reduce the issue, we need to make the most out of what we got. Otherwise it's just a logistical nightmare that never ends, with people bidding, losing, and then the house next to them is empty. And they can't get that plot, not until the next roulette.

Look at what I posted the page before. Those plots are empty, and I'm willing to bet most of them opened up because of Relocations. In effect, that's so many plots that got locked out from new buyers just because of relocating houses. And the same will happen again. And again. And again. When SE says "We're adding X plots", the number of available plots is actually X - N, with N being the successful relocations. And we'll just be in an endless loop where plots are available but no new houses are being built. And this congests the lottery.

As for moving servers...

Honestly though, we shouldn't be pushing for people to have to pay real life money to fix something in-game. This feels like the "Hrothgars want haircuts? Buy a fantasia!" thing all over again. To alleviate something in-game. So telling people to change servers isn't exactly the most helpful of things, since one would just really covering their own butt rather than actively fixing the problem. Those people will also have the same issue elsewhere and make the situation in another server worse. Realistically, there's no way we can make server population uniform. That's just never going to happen, and if the response is "please move elsewhere" every time, at some point the answer might end up looping back at you. With people telling YOU to move servers yourself because THEY can't get a house.

Even worse is: okay, people moved. You still lost the lottery. You'll still feel really bad, and blame the system and the people who won yet again :T

All I see are loops. People move houses, plots become available, loop back around. Someone tells people to move bc you're angry, they move and cause issues elsewhere, but you might not win and if you don't, you're angry, loop back around.
If we could make the most out of the plots that are open, then that'd help. I suggested cross-world housing, but just merely making the most out of relocated plots already helps with some supply.

And a LOT of them (about 400) have 0 bids. Stop this nonsense and trying to strip things away from people, they still worked for it.

Not everyone wants one but there are far too few houses for the number of people who want one.

You keep saying this because you're on a very low pop EU server. Nearly all the NA houses outside of Dynamis will be taken by next cycle. This isn't about people being picky on NA.

Same could be said for Balmung or Mateus. Their population is an anomaly within the FF14 Worlds. Lets be honest here. Would you as a business increase the plots to match Balmung and therefore going to create even more empty wards on other Worlds especially JP ones? (especially if Square wants to stick to the actual warding system instead of an instanced one) No. You would add new Worlds and giving them an incentive to move to those (be it new plots, exp bonus or blocking older ones). And if people or whole FCs arent taking the chance to get their first plot or an upgrade, well its their decision to not take this opportunity.

Unpopular opinion, but remove personal houses entirely and make them FC only. Then have requirements of active membership of a certain number of individual service accounts; something like 2 for S, 4 for M and 8 for L. Not that demanding. Something like each active member must log in once a week…if at least 2/4/8 do among members, then all good.

Problem is I don’t think SE even keeps track of what characters are tied to what service accounts in most things. It’s very easy to get around what restrictions there are (1 FC house per service account officially is kind of a joke)

Even among large FCs you can't always expect there to be someone active for 8 months. That may happen in your FC, doesn't mean it's a norm nor that it should be expected.

Especially not in moments of content drought or lull between patches. Even moreso now that patches are dished out longer between eachother.

My FC is mostly on hiatus; we’d lose our houses most likely. But if you already need 1 person to stay on for 30 days to keep a house, why not 4 for an M, or 8 for an L?

It’s not a big ask considering how big FCs can be, and keeping FCs large enough to support a large house would mean more community, perhaps.

If people don’t like having minimum membership numbers, it’s just gonna be ganked by people exploiting loopholes with characters that never log in. Between my wife’s account and mine alone, I could easily make 2 8-man FCs with their own house using the above restrictions. Which keeps us in the same situation we are in now at 1 person having 1 house all to themselves.

If they are paying for 2 accounts, why not? They have every right if they are paying double admission for access to double the fun.

As is I pay for my wife’s account, so it’s not much different.

As I said, unpopular opinion. People aren’t going to like the fact that housing simply can’t be available for every player in the current situation without massive monthly server upkeep which takes away from other potential development.

So, either do instanced (ideal), or make it available for FCs only giving more people access.

Honestly, I'll just drop this conversation altogether.

To me, this thread feels like it's nothing more than people salty about having lost an RNG game feeling even worse about there being a limited supply of something remarkably trivial in the game.

None of the solutions provided feel satisfactory. They don't feel fair nor realistic. They sound like people are incensed over literal salt, and that's just not how things should be done. They all seem to just try and punish people who already own a plot rather than specifically focus on the ones that have abused the system into the dredge we have now. They all seem to throw unpleasantness at people who already own a plot or have won simply because people feel their loss is unfair, or that their wins were unfair. There's no fairness to roulette any further than that which we allow for it. There are no rules other than a randomizer's.

Whenever there's a thread on something that people are rightfully angry at something, people eventually tell them to bring it down and be more modest. To be rational. To be realistic. That Square Enix cannot do things on a whim without fully assessing what needs to be done for that to work. And the same should be done for this thread.

Because your anger is valid: there is a lack of fairness, but it's not because people win or get to keep their plots. It's because there isn't enough around to begin with and the system isn't the best it could be. So people could really do with better ideas and acknowledging where the fault lies rather than making up ridiculous rules and arbitrary restrictions that probably don't even benefit themselves!

These "rules", these "restrictions", they're not going to help you. They're not going to help anyone. You think they will because it will free up some plots, but really you're punishing everyone for the ways of very select few.

Does anyone actually think when they come up with those rules?

And when the replies some people have are "You're from EU, you don't get to talk" or "You have a house, you don't know what it's like". Not only is it dismissive of people feeling empathy for you guys, it also dismisses the fact that the person likely also had to endure a lot of crap to get their house. It's reductive.

I know how that's like, even in EU. Sure. My current house was gifted. But that was a relocation years ago. My first house? I had to wait months and rush it before anyone else got there. And my FC house? We had to wait almost a year for Empyreum to get released for us to get one. Until this lottery thing, my friends camped nights in front of a placard, only to lose it to the ten other people botting. I know how hard it could get.
I know that a roulette loss will feel terrible. And I know that that sucks even if I won the one I participated in. I know because I can understand. I have empathy for you. But there are reasons for that, and it's not leashing people who did win that's suddenly going to make any of you feel better. You'll only alienate people who empathize.

Why are we literally fostering a witch hunt and fearmongering among people who own houses? Why are we okay with reductive arguments and restrictive behaviour when really we should just admit where the fault lies? Because if you guys owned a house under the same rules you make? You'd lose your house eventually, and in here you'd come crying your eyeballs out.

So yeah. Sorry, but I'm not sorry. This is so apparent to be a thread born from salt, and unfortunately there's no middle term here that I've seen that felt remotely thought out.

I will assume you didnt read my post fully, over 400 houses are still with 0 bids on Brynhildr alone, you are on Balmung, in that particular case it's self inflicted. Feel free to move to Dynamis or to a different world with more housing availability, or ask for more wards for ONLY Balmung and very select worlds, EU does not need more wards, there are still so many plots available even on Cerberus or Ragnarok which are the biggest worlds for Europe. Let people take the goblet and empy plots, and then you can call it a housing crisis, until then, it's self inflicted, I want a Shiro 60 as main personal house, that's my wish, doesnt mean I'll get it, and in the meantime I'd gladly take a goblet 35 or 60. Stop bidding on a plot with 60 bids, while you have another large with 5 or less. This whole issue lies on the players and not on the system. There are so many instances that I could show of people REFUSING to bid on a plot right next door because the localization is a bit worse, they would rather bid on a plot with 14 bids, than one with 1 right behind it, because "muh beachfront". Stop it.

The amount of available houses say otherwise. It's widely available, the only problem is those damn 9 days cycle that make it agonizing to wait to see if you've won. And since a lot of people will ONLY bid on medium and large as long as they are available, well yes, they will lose.

For all the people suggesting to have houses as FC only, thats how it worked long ago, and the wards were barely in use.

I do personally believe that a lot of animosity that is thrown at house owners originates from a place of envy. And I can sympathize - as the system provides a much desired but limited resource. The creators of this system are ultimately at fault for that.

I feel like a far more viable solutions exist but I'm under the impression the developers have no interest in entertaining them.

Instanced housing should be implemented.
Demolition timer should be removed entirely.
