PSA/ALERT: Houses are getting demolished when they shouldn't. SE needs to see this!

I don't see what's so hard for you people to understand.

He entered his own personal house, but his personal house was not one of the ones being demolished.


Considering that many people are checking their houses right now, coincidentally, the owner of the shared estate may have checked it at the same time.

We don't see what's happening at the shared estates, so we can't say that nobody was there resetting them.

Valkyrie is arguing that the two timers that Aida listed state they are for houses that Aida is a tenant of. That the timers aren't for his house.

I'm sorry, but I find it really hard to believe that in the less than 30 seconds it took for him to check his timers, teleport to his house, and check them again, the owner of the shared estate teleported to the other house and reset the timer as well. But, in the interest of solving this, Aida, did that person go to check the plot?

And yet, you're disregarding that the labeling of it being a shared estate may be part of the bug. Despite the fact that earlier this thread someone was standing in the house with its owner the very day before it got demolished.

I guess we needed absolute proof and have the owner of the house ask the owners they tenant with if they happened to enter their house the same time this took place. I mean it is possible, but seems unlikely. I would like to know why Valkyrie_Lenneth is always doing this sort of thing though.

Actually, incredibly, I think Momo might be correct. I just checked with the person who I share an estate with and they said that they did reset their time around the time I was recording the video. Based on that information, I'm going to have to assume that this was one holy hell of a coincidence, and probably not the bug that people have been having. I've deleted that discord message I posted and will be editing my post to reflect this. Sorry about the mishap, everyone! >_<

Hopefully houseing system demolishes itself and they need to remaster it >.> Just a opinion if this is happening hope they fix it \shrugs

Because evidence to the contrary, the problem has been found. I'm all for fixing peoples houses being demo'd by a bug, but evidence is needed. Speculation helps no one and causes unwarranted panic. I also have a house, an FC house, and several friends with houses. I would hate to lose any of them. I'm just not panicking over it.

I do wonder why people like to go after me for being logical about things. I had a mail bug for 3 years. I submitted 2 bug reports. The 2nd one got my issue resolved.

I work on servers on a daily basis. I've seen many weird things happen.

The simplest thing is to not assume there was a bug when there wasn't one before.

For iShirozaki, I haven't seen his proof, so I can't say for certain. I would say user error until there's definite proof otherwise.

They should just remove the auto-demolition from the game entirely and come up with some other solution. I hate to say it, but this immersion excuse has never struck me as a good enough reason not to scrap the idea of wards and give everyone access to their own personal house. This system should never have gone live if everyone couldn't participate, and they still don't have enough houses to cover the entirety of the playerbase. This bug just adds insult to injury - now it's not even safe to buy a house as a regular player because not only will you lose it if you take a break from the game, but you might lose it anyway because SE doesn't test things before releasing them.

I'm sorry folks are losing their houses. I'm not sorry that this system is crumbling underneath its own weight.

I mean, I wouldn't feel too horribly bad. The simpler explanation (it was a bug in the display of the list) is almost always more likely to be correct than the weirder one (someone managed to sneak in and reset the timer while you were on the loading screen).

Sorry for getting a little heated <.< I still think people should be wary though. There's still enough people talking about it happening to them that I find it hard to believe it's all just people making mistakes, coincidences, or not understanding. Especially for people that have a house on a high pop server so are likely very familiar with all the ins and outs of the housing system.

I'm a little frustrated with SE right now because I'm having a bug where items are disappearing (it's now 4 total items) after being crafted - they're not being placed in my bag. I've been told to go here, go there, fill out this bug report, now fill this out again, etc. I can't seem to get any help. A lot of people can't. And when it's something as touchy as a house, everyone's going to be upset. Especially when what happened was so incredibly unlikely.

Just adding this bit for future reference and so we get more accurate reports of this bug: I have had to reset a house's demolition timer in the past, and I distinctly remember there being a message that pops up on the screen as soon as you enter the house saying "demolition timer has been reset".

My post you quoted had the quote from the person you asked me about. If you had read my post, you wouldn't have responded with that question. I don't like being attacked over something that is literally in my post.

To the people who have now posted in this thread saying it has happened to them, please, I beg you, show any evidence you can, fill out bug reports. We need as much evidence of this as possible. If this bug isn't true all the better, but not knowing for sure and the possibility of it being real is too saddening to me.

This is the one time will have to agree, we can do without the arguments and dislikes for whoever. Set it aside and leave it for another day. This is far more serious of a matter if this it a bug that actually happening or something else. We want SE attention on this and not having them go through a bunch of posts of people arguing with each other.

We need screenshots and chat logs from support. Hearsay from reddit unfortunately is not going to be enough.

If the bug was this big, it should have blown up by now, and yet, there's so few people reporting issues.

I haven't seen any talk of this on Mateus, either in shout or in Novice Network. I would have expected some mention of it.

My neighbour returned to their house gone too, said they never went away for that long. Had at least 2 weeks before auto-demolish.

I'm convinced the people who actually care about immersion are just very, very vocal minority. I've had my house since late last year I think and I've never seen more than 3-4 people in there at any given time. And they weren't even together, just looked like random people going about their business. Now here's where someone replies "my ward is packed all the time and me and my friends host parties 24/7!" Okay, sure, even I chose to believe that, you're still a minority. Start a new character on any server and pick any ward and I guarantee 99% of them will be ghost towns with the occasional straggler or two tending to their garden.

Like I've said before, if they're so hellbent on the idea of wards, then fine keep them around, but then offer up instanced housing for everyone else. I'm going to go out on a limb and say most people who want a house don't really care one way or the other if anyone besides their friends ever see it. They just want their own little slice of Eorzea to decorate. Besides, with instanced housing, the type of houses you can have is pretty much infinite. Elder Scrolls Online and Rift have castles, forests, ships, caves, a bunch of other places to decorate. The benefits of instanced housing heavily outweigh the downsides. Then again, if "Raubahn-gate" (i.e. Stormblood launch.) is any indication, I wouldn't be surprised if SE was too cheap to spring for the extra servers possibly needed for instanced housing.

I genuinely don't even understand why people are vehemently against instanced housing other than needing validation because they're one of the select few players to own a house. Who cares about your stupid wards, just let other players have fun. And ffs, don't come at me with the "if someone really cared about owning a home, they would have one by now!" because that's obviously not true judging by the...ya know...people who want houses and still don't have one. There's a lot of factors that go into being able to buy a house and if you're on a populated server, the biggest factor is luck.

I own a house and I too am glad this system is under fire again. Good, it deserves to be. The way housing was implemented is a joke by any other MMORPG standards.

Looks like all my houses is still around and no timer ticking. Can't say i see more open plots in my ward either and all friends seem be safe as well /phew

There's one screenshot on Reddit of a response from a GM, but it's extremely generalized and makes it sound as if the person who entered was a tenant, not an owner. However, the person who posted talks like they're the owner and I feel like they'd know whether or not that was the case.

The player who posted that on reddit has been banned from the official forums, incidentally highlighting another enormous problem with their moderation of this place. I like how the response tells him to post on the forums despite his ban, making it very clear that the response was copy and paste work.

They specified in the email to the GM that they had been in it within the previous 45 days so that it should not have been demolished, that they know they won't be getting the plot back or any reimbursement - they simply requested for confirmation on this being a bug or not. Looking for people to post screen shots of these "bugs" that are happening. I haven't seen talk on my server either, doesn't mean it not happening, ya know?
It seems very random and wide spread and it only effecting a handful of people who supposedly say they lost their house after being in it a day-2 weeks ago. It may be small now, doesn't mean it won't get bigger if left unchecked.
I would think you'd know that if you worked on servers. Not taking a shot at you, just saying it common knowledge for anything. Leave a problem unchecked, it get worse over time.

This is either a bug or a lot of people trolling to stir up the rest of the community. I for one, would like some peace of mind in it.

Thats just it tho, when working on servers, you need to see the error to be able to fix it. I've gone to many customer site in the past, where they say there's an error, but its not replicatable, and you swap the part that is thought to be the problem, and then 3 weeks later it shows up again.

You need to have solid evidence of what is wrong, aka screenshots of the error, logs from the system. We don't have that right now.

I hope people do provide those, because if it is an actual bug, we need proof so it gets fixed.

Completely agreed Cylla, this is a "better safe than sorry" thread seeking answers and resolutions to a potentially very nasty problem.

And I get that. Without proof, there no way of telling if it bug or just someone stirring the pot. That what we are looking for here, proof. Thing is, there should be a database on these servers. If my memory correct, I ran a PR server back a long time ago for Ragnarok online. That database held information on each account and character created. Items they picked up, items they had, etc. Can't tell me that SE can't go back and see that a person was in there house a day before it got demo. Again, this is just going off a very old MMO but I do believe even in present day gaming, there a database holding information up to a xxx point in time.

Either way, all I want is some clear mind that I'm not going to log on tomorrow and find one of two houses missing or both.

I have asked two people (one of the reddit thread posters, the one who specifically states that a GM said that their house did not qualify for demolition; and one of the commenters who shared that a friend had a GM say it but were extremely upset) to provide a screenshot of that if they could. A GM saying so would stop that line of questioning.

Otherwise, a few people have commented that they were in their houses within two weeks at least (some days before, some having screenshots that they were) but the house was demolished.

One (screenshot on July 15) said that they were in the house but did not place any furnishings, or move anything except to place Retainers on the exterior. Their sub never lapsed.

Even with old games, such databases exist. I guarantee you, that's how the one-time item reimbursement works (they need some way or verifying they actually had something to misplace to begin with). They could use it to verify the existence of the bug - provided they are given correct and useful information. P-servers don't generally deal with how large of a scale the legitimate servers do. Starting with hard truths to submit to customer service would go a long way (this would be time and date of last known 'owning' of house; time and date when noticed the house was no longer in the player's possession, plot, etc.).
