I personally do not care about gear to be honest, although I know other people would be more motivated by gear. I just want to have fun, challenge my own self, have a good attitude that fosters teamwork and communication, play with friends and just beat stuff. Gear in video games are fake and imaginary anyway.

The stuff OP mentioned has been going since patch 2.2 lol.

Again like I said in the other thread..its never going to change, the devs cant just seem to do it. It's best to just give up and keep expectations super low.

This game has been suffering from longevity since they put in the ilvl. You're just gonna set yourself up for disappointment if you expect anything more. This isn't SE of the past - where they are innovative, setting standards and impressing the gaming world. Until you've created a game yourself, you cannot take anyone's word for granted. I know for a fact what kind of man power, hours, and effort it takes to make games, especially mmo games. Even if they stated "it's no problem" it doesn't mean they just push buttons and it's done. These people spend almost every waking hour to make sure we are satisfied. So how do you think they felt when they made Gordias and Midas and realized only 5% of the community was satisfied with their hard work? If you're not happy with the content, then you probably need to find something else to play. Just because you're unhappy, doesn't mean the rest of the community is unhappy. It's not fair that you want to bring the rest of the community down because it's too easy for you.

I also want to point out another fact that a lot of people seem to have forgotten. You've been through the intense dps check of Gordias. You've managed your way through the unforgiving mechanics of Midas. Now that they purposely made this raid easier for players who have not even attempted to finish Gordias or Midas. You want to complain about how well experienced you are that you can bypassed mechanics.... So I see no reason as to why we want to complain about how much better we've gotten.

While I understand that they are trying to get people back into raiding, this was probably not the patch to make fights this easy. This is the last tier before the new expansion and if their last expansion is any indication, this tier is supposed to last a minimum of 6 months up to 9 or 10 months. Yes, I know they said they wouldn't need nearly as long of a break between 3.5 and 4.0 as they did between 2.5 and 3.0 but they've said a lot of other things which don't always hold water. Now if all sorts of teams are able to clear Alexander: Creator prior to 3.5... what are those people going to do for the next 3-5 months until the expansion? Time and boredom will likely prove just as detrimental to ALL statics as overtuned content was to most.

You're making it sound like that's all this game is designed for. Raid. This is highly untrue. There are a lot of things to do in this game to keep people occupied. If you have done everything, which I highly doubt you have, then just play something else. Actions speak louder than words. If more people unsub to play something else after completing Creator Savavge, this will get SE's attention and they will do something about it. But I know a bunch of people who are taking raiding slow. Because they don't have the same life style most of us raiders do have. Most people have careers, a family, college, you name it. Except the topic of discussion is raiding, not everything else. I have plenty to do but I only need a static for 4 fights of it. Once those 4 fights are down and farmed, keeping a team together in preparation of 4.0 is going to become more difficult each week. At no point did I claim that the game revolved around me, all I was driving at is that this is the tier which had a longer endgame content drought in vanilla, so making it easier to clear may not have been the most prudent of plans to keep people invested. Creating easier fights to build the raiding community would have made more sense in my mind for 4.0 and then ramp into harder fights rather than make 3.4 the easiest tier of Alex and then potentially not have any new raid level fights for 10 months. I agree that people were still raiding long after 2.5 but Turns 10-13 were more difficult than Floors 9-12 appear to be.

Arguably no, T10-T13 are about the same difficulty as A9-A12. Especially since most groups were able to beat T12 within a day. The thing is we raiders are just very well experienced with understanding and figuring out mechanics. We've optimized how to play our jobs and and we build group concepts that benefit each job to maximize dps far more than in 2.x. Just because we are better than before doesn't mean the Creator is too easy. It's just too easy to us. Which again leads to the claim as to why we are complaining about the difficulty. We are worried for our own case no one else. Which is why the world doesn't revolve around us. Everyone is different, there are some casual-midcore groups who are still on A9S. So again there's no reason to complain or even be worried about the scene of raiding with Creator. Since it's so early into the raid cycle we still haven't seen anything alarming yet, only that top tier groups have cleared it already. Wait 3 months into the raid then start complaining. Being worried about being bored or that stuff is too easy because it's easy to you is far more detrimental to the game than the raid itself.

I'm already bored to death with current "savage" difficulty scaling, we only had 2 sessions so far in our raidgrp and beat A9s after like 2 hours and on A10s we've seen boss on about 15% already (when 2 adds spawn)....
About 6 hours for 2 "savage" turns is a joke, and we are by no means "1337 pro nerd gamers".

Next session A10s will be down, and there are only 2 turns left. A12s doll is no problem for me with ilvl250 gear, this is ridiculous and just embarrassing sorry.

The problem with WoW's current tier is the gearing structure. They tuned the fights the same way they always do, but the made major changes to gearing progression and didn't take this into account.

They added additional RNG to gear drops. Basically when a piece of gear drops the server rolls to determine if it will be 5 ilvls higher. It continues this rolling process until behind the scenes until the roll fails or you hit a cap for the gear. So you could actually roll a piece of gear from the normal mode that is better than the base level gear from either Heroic or Mythic mode. This system applies to all content, including world quests.

To add fuel to this fire you can randomly get legendaries. You can only equip one initially, 2 with an upgrade. Some of them increase a certain specs dps by like roughly 20% though. They can't tune fights around it because they can't guarantee people will get it. Complete RNG fest.

And the final and biggest issue gear wise was the introduction of mythic+ dungeons. Basically the hardest version of the dungeons scale infinitely. You can do them as many times as you want in a week as long as you don't fail. So lets say you beat +2. You get a keystone than unlocks +3 that you can do that very same week. The gear scales up 5 ilvls at the base ilvl before rolls every increase.

From +10 beyond the gears base ilvl is 885 with mythic raids only being base 880. This mean a lot of people farmed these and farmed them so much the week before that the majority of their raid team walked into the tier with around the ilvl, maybe higher depending on RNG and time spent, than the tier even dropped. The development team didn't account for this. In other news though this is only the first half of the raid tier. The 2nd half will be tuned for the ilvl they had going into the first half so we will see how things go over there in a few months. Because of ilvl boost luck and legendaries though my guess would be closer to what is was before, but still quicker.

But basically Kyne you are correct. The tuning was off. However it wasn't because they were trying to make it easier, it is because they didn't take into account the retarded level of gearing they have going on.

But I agree whole wholeheartedly agree with the OP. The tuning this tier flat out sucks. There is no longevity to the tier at all and it is the last thing we are getting. Crafted gear being higher than the previous raid tier's gear on release is a mistake. It is doing nothing but inflating ilvl and stats and adding to the tuning issues of the tier. I might have found a11s and a12s tuned better w/o crafted gear, however I was able to jump up 10 ilvls with full pentamelds week 1. So this made checks on fights even easier. I get that crafters want to make money, but I think this is the wrong way to go about it. If they want to add crafted gear, we should get a max of 1 piece of new gear per job that is useful for progression.

I will agree with this. I'm all for making a three tier system. I talked about it in another thread about it but if they can't make a three tier system right away I think making Normal and Hard mode at first then implementing Savage in catch up patch might be a way to go. Then again it would probably cut development time on the next raid tier which seems to be taking all of their time to begin with. All I know is this seems to be the solution. Unfortunately I would hate to see discrimination with the loot and rewards. I'm all for vanity with Savage and best gear from Hard. Though I'm sure most people would disagree with me. This is just my opinion. However, from a stand point of looking over all. It seems the three tier system for raiding is the best solution to this issue.

I personally haven't done a12 normal yet. I have a job. My wife has a job. We basically only play together.. But I like the idea of being able to clear content before getting over geared.


As for 3 tair system. Sure put it in. Normal Hard Savage. And make Savage so Savage that without Crit RNG your out of luck at 7 items from normal mode. Sorry if you don't get it. I'm not for a 3 tier system.

The skilled raid players will never like participating in dumbed down content or love the impermanence of gear. Yoshi wants more people raiding. Raiding at the core is not designed to be a place for people who want to do content without hassles, drama, or queues due to needing 8-24 players to progress. Add to that some of this content is brain melting hard for someone who doesn't study and practice the game like a job due to rotations and mechanics that require absolute attention, not referring to the creator as I haven't done it.

Raids don't interest me at all in this game. I'd prefer these savage lovers get their wish and let me have some public version or easier version with lighter demands on statics and perfect execution. I feel there should be more solo/low man endgame content for people who do not like raiding instead of trying to shoehorn or coax them into raids.

I wonder how many more of these threads will be made. It's like these people either have reading comprehension problems or things they're told go in one ear and out the other. But please, continue to request more cheese with the whine. I'm sure doing that will magically make the raid scene in this game better.

On a more serious note, I am quite happy and content with this 2-tier system of Normal and Savage. If Savage is as easy as people are whining about it, maybe I can give it a go and even try and get my FC to come with me to try this. Go figure a casual player do raid content. Whoda thunk?

Since they said it takes 6 months just to make a gear set for all races. I would probably say that in Normal you would have some generic looking dungeon armor that has at least a decent ilvl to get you going. Have Hard mode drop the raid gear, and then have Savage drop the dyable variation of the Hard mode gear.

Would be nice if high level players actually looked high level. Right now there is nothing to show off besides the AS12 weapons.

On another note. Adding achievements to Hard mode would increase difficulty itself. Easier to beat it normally, but to get the achievement, you would have to pull off something very hard that you normally wouldn't do. Like for example "Beat Rafflesia while he has 8 stacks on him." Maybe a bad one, just giving an example though. Increases the difficulty and takes gear scale into consideration with SE having to do minimal work and we get rewarded and something to show off like titles or minions. Also make it you can only get these achievements on ilvl sync to make sure they are always worth something.

Well aware of how WoW works. Quit playing because their new class design philosophy of your class should be brain dead I find flat out boring. They did it so they could "make bosses harder" which they didn't do. Playing ffxiv because I like the class design and I personally liked the difficulty of Gordias and Midas. That is literally what got ffxiv my sub for this expansion.

Cool story, obviously savage isn't designed for you. You don't see me complaining about the facets of the game that I don't enjoy in the first place. Guess what I have a job too...gasp. Cleared Midas with a full time job, and a wife, in a reasonable time frame. And guess what I still had time to have a life. People like me pay our sub for content we enjoy just like you. We have no less of a right to content challenges us than you do w/e facet of the game you enjoy. If all of a sudden they flipped the switch the other way and made every dungeon, story quest, and normal mode raid on the same level as current Midas and then turned around and made Savage at the same level Gordias was, you would be just as upset as I am.

It also drove away the majority of the raiding community. Point is there will be no pleasing everyone but they must, at this point, cater to a majority of raider wishes. If this does nothing to increase the raiding population it will be very interesting to see what comes of raids come 4.0.

Most likely if the raid population doesn't increase by keeping it difficult. Raiders will still get their fix, but most resources will go towards other facets of the game, even more than now. I doubt it would go extreme and have to go Swtor style F2P or solo mode since this portion of the playerbase is small anyways.

I'm wondering if there's perhaps a way to do this.
Easymode: Solo content, very few mechanics, no loot. You do once to complete the story
Midcore: Let's say current Savage tier. Becomes the medium one for it. Drops loot. Has all the mechanics, but they're somewhat forgiving. So it's not the end of the world if you miss a mechanic or 2. Mostly scripted, but can have the odd dose of randomness to it too. Mechanics are fairly decently spread out so it's not too much.
Hardcore: Truly hammers it home hard. Mechanics flying left right and centre, damage numbers dialled to 11, all random (if there's a pair of mechanics that would insta-wipe the raid through no fault of the party, then add a safety cooldown between the two mechanics). Because all the mechanics are already there from the Midcore version, that should make it cheaper to implement. No loot, but has titles, minions, mounts, or possibly glamour stuffs exclusive from there. Can NEVER be done unsynced, and will always force a minimum ilvl on you (so anyone who gets stuff from there, always keeps their worth from it, the value of it never goes down)

Could that satiate everyone's desires, even those that want to see the game just for the story, they can do it alone? Personally, I'd probably go up to the midcore tier.

I would hop on that train if you had easy mode renamed to something else, no force to solo but light party or under. Still retain lots of , moderate damaging mechanics and definitely drop loot. I don't expect the same ilvl as other groups but maybe 5-10 under normal/midcore.

Alright, I'll break down each point individually.

- Renaming easy mode: Agreed. I can't think of a better name, but "easymode" was just an arbritary name for it since I gave each variant a name. I didn't want to call it "Casual" though as I felt it might upset casuals.
- No force to solo: I am open to this. However, part of the reason behind Solo is in another part.
- Retain lots of moderate damaging mechanics. Yep, I'm open to this as well. But is it needed if it did go Solo?
- Drop loot: I don't agree on this. If all you're interested in is the story, why throw loot into the mix? But I guess we'd need a reason to re-run it if it was a Light Party duty (part of the reason I went for solo duty, since then you could get away with no loot).

Yes can understand your feelings very well, although I don't raid I can relate to a point to the need of having a challenge, however I don't think the game has the manpower to actually sustain that kind of challenge and to a more wider extend I also think that kind of gamer is kinda diying out.
Tbh I think that more bosses on the raids themselves would alleviate much of the problems and also a better raid design, atm savage is just getting in, boss room then go out, kinda breaks the feels of raiding.
Personally, even though it wouldn't matter me directly, I think we should actually ask for that and in a way is what yoshida is saying too.

Wow... You're the only person I've seen that actually liked what was widely considered the worst raid tier in history. Admittedly, Midas felt better difficulty wise, but I understand the need to grow the raider pop back up.

Tbh i liked gordias too in terms of difficult ( design was horrible) i understand that i liked it because me and me group were able to perform and give 100% from our jobs but at the same time i knew that wasn't a good direction because it needed 8 ppl performing 100% and that was too much . Midas was the best compromise if it had the design of creator . If they made the creator same difficult of midas this could have been the best raid ever made

The patch has literally only been out for a week. Some of us have jobs and families and don't put in 16 hour days. Though my group is only halfway through A9S, Ibhave every intention of downing A12s and rolling around Idylshire singing about rising gravy and the like.

At what cost though?
Do you not understand the severity of the damage that Alexander has done to the game? What Gordias didn't obliterate, Midas finished off. Do you have any idea how many statics died during Alexander? Do you understand how FEW people haven't cleared Gordias and Midas? Hell I personally had every intention of clearing Midas and putting the Midan spear on my retainer, but my static never got past Vortex.

Why there are people on this board RIGHT NOW who think A12 NORMAL is too hard. How many more of them have to unsub before you get the point? Creator HAS to be this way. It's a necessary evil in order to justify the cost of making raids at all. The game can't survive on only pleasing the hardcore.

Being able to skip battle phases from the get go is actually a better game design tuning than not being able to. Especially in a game like this with a skill disparity extremely wide.

First, let's not forget that people in the race for the World First didn't go in at i240. They got fully melded HQ crafted i250, which is something the vast majority of the playerbase can't afford. This "detail" in itself is enough to gate an awful lot of people out when it comes to clearing the fights altogether, not even taking the "skipping phases" thing into account.

That out of the way, being able to skip phases in FFXIV is a demonstration of skill. Not everyone can do it, but when you can, it feels great. You have your little "special snowflake" moment, which you absolutly can't get if the fight is tuned towards gear checks. You just hit a brick wall and come back the next week to try again with new stuff. This is so unrewarding it's almost disrespectful for hardcore player's skill.
For midcores, it also offers the possibility of getting a feeling of progression right off the bat, which is something that was really lacking in both Midas and Gordias. This is the very reason why midcores seems to like the Creator better than the other two.
And for the lower end of the basket, well, I can assure you that these players will see all there is to see from the Creator, until they'll be geared enough to overcome it. But I really want to put an emphasis on the word "can". It's not because players "can" skip phases, that they "will" actually be able to do it. At least not immediatly.

Whatever the case, since there's so much difference between player's skill in FFXIV, having a content capable of being flexible towards a majority (keep in mind that we only have ONE raid of only FOUR encounters every TWO patches), is actually quite a feat. tl;dr: tuning raid content around player's skill instead of player's equipment is what fits better to FFXIV.

Do you not understand the severity of the damage that Alexander has done to the game? What Gordias didn't obliterate, Midas finished off. Do you have any idea how many statics died during Alexander? Do you understand how FEW people haven't cleared Gordias and Midas? Hell I personally had every intention of clearing Midas and putting the Midan spear on my retainer, but my static never got past Vortex.

Why you don't understand if gordias difficult was 10 , midas is 8 , creator is 2 , why u don't see this?
