Please start the new jobs at level 1

in FF11 you unlocked jobs at 30, those new jobs started at level 1 when you changed to them. this goes for all 16 jobs that you unlock at level 30.

with that said I can't be the only one that is more interested in cross class skills and changes to the Armoury system than the starting level of these new jobs.
I'm most curious on if they are going to give us more cross skills to choose from, will they change how many slots we get to add.

I doubt that the old jobs get cross class skills from the new jobs. The sub classes for the old jobs are fix. It will be more the other way, that the new jobs get cross class skills from the old classes.

I'm cool with them starting at lv30, it makes sense to me. My condolences to those expecting/wanting it to be otherwise.

With respect to new peeps being left to fend for themselves, I'll still be doing the low level roulette, even on max level jobs (as well as FATEs here and there). I spend alot of time traveling on a mount to where I want to go too, as opposed to teleporting everywhere (unless I'm in the mood for Hunts), and I oft help out low level characters if I see them in need (or they ask in FC/chat). So I'm personally not seeing an issue in that respect. Want to help the lowbies out? Make some effort to do so, instead of asking SE to force you too. :)

I already have 20 old classes that are going to need 10 new levels each. I'm not going to shed a single tear at cutting out the "fetch me a rat haunch" phase of the three new ones.

i am sooo glad it's not level 1. No way do i wanna farm fates to 15 and then go through god awful df on those very early dungeons. Now i can just go through awfulness after 30 lol

Only thing this time is gotta get used to more skills all at once, which I dont mind.

If it was a class, level one makes sense. Since these are JOBS and no other job starts at level 1, then level 30 only makes sense. I would love to level it from level one but these are not classes.

Hey, if you enjoy the 1-30 leveling experience, feel free to roll an alternate character and experience it all over again on every job! You can even enjoy unlocking all the duties and roulettes again, and having to gear up from i48 or so to i90 with i130 champs needing on every upgrade that drops because "lol i need seals," and without a geared job to farm the gear with.

For added pleasure, roll on a new server!

Silliness aside, please leave the new jobs at 30 for those amongst us that do not enjoy self-punishment. It's easy to handicap yourself if you want a challenge.

This is fine. A newbie can level a class to 30, possibly another class to 15 and then unlock the Job at 30 (as it has always been). What isn't fine, to me, is locking the new Jobs behind a level 50 plot wall. A new player might not like the current Jobs and only bought FFXIV and Heavensward just so they can play as DRK, AST or MCH. Well tough luck on them, seems they will have to deal with the entire trek to level 50 and i90 just to touch Ishgard.

This can make the new player feel like they wasted their money. Unless SE put "areas in Heavensward will be inaccessible until you finish Before the Fall Part 2" in giant bold letters somewhere on the box (or website for digital downloads), there is a big chance new players will have no idea they can not enter Ishgard to unlock the new Jobs.

But when I started playing the class were 1-30ish and the jobs were lvl30. I don't see why the astonishment of some players seeing the new expansion having the new jobs starting at lvl 30.. or is it 3 new classes that we are getting.

It's less about mashing buttons and more of the thrill of getting each and every level, no matter how easy or hard it is to achieve, just hear the level up theme just makes me feel like I accomplished something.

Besides, the difference between classes and jobs is minimal, but if you want to be pedantic about it...I'll refer to them "properly".
It's obvious that they're phasing out the class system. They should compensate for the levels the classes take up. Namely, lvls1-30.

Apart from the feeling of accomplishment when leveling a class/job from lvl1 as some had said, I am of the opinion that the low levels of a class/job are important in teaching a player how to play that class and the like.

On a side note, I am against giving players a job or a class for that matter that they didn't "earn". I was against it with the whole arcanist -> scholar/summoner especially since the two classes are different and require the player to learn their nuances accordingly.
But that's neither here nor there.

The argument about these jobs should start at level 30 because all jobs start at level 30 doesn't really fly for me. I say that because when you level a Gladiator to 30 and become a Paladin, you don't suddenly start a completely different gameplay experience. Paladin is nothing more than a continuation of Gladiator and as such it makes sense that you don't have to go back to level 1 once you start as a Paladin. These new jobs aren't a continuation of anything. It's a completely new experience which gets cut short by having players automatically start fresh at level 30.

I was hoping they start at 50. Sigh, 30-44 is a pain.

Not a fan of it starting at level 30. We're going to have around 13 skills to learn how to use effectively from the getgo. That's being thrown into the fire IMO, and will make Haukke Manor more of a horror than it really should be. Starting at level 1 would be better for teaching the job.

Not really. Is using 13~ skills in outdated and learning-oriented dungeons really so dire? Before queuing in the DF as any of the new jobs, take a few minutes to read what your abilities do, test them out and then go into the learning dungeon and learn.

I don't really see a reason to put them at level 1. Leveling 1 to 30 is so fast people won't even miss it, unless they just really like Tam Tara Normal.

Yes of course there is. It always is and there is never a wrong opinion on matters like this so I was not saying you are wrong either. I am just asking for the people who are happy about this to view it from the other perspective because I have tried to do that myself and I don't see a good reason for it. I mean if I compared how this affects the two groups I don't really think it is a balanced situation, regardless of which perspective I look at it from. The biggest problem in this case is that the people who are happy about something like this are more or less those who are not at all affected by it. It would not actually have any effect on their gameplay if other people could unlock the jobs themselves without having completed the whole 2.55 storyline. It does however actually affect many other people in a large way. Or maybe I am wrong, how do you think it affects people who have already done 2.55 and think this is a good idea?

I mean if the argument is lore or being spoiled I don't really understand it. Those who have already completed it won't be affected, those who are affected would not be spoiled simply because this is an mmorpg. People already know the new jobs exist, everyone around me will still be running around as the new jobs, be in my parties, most likely even help me complete the old storyline. What am I missing?

Me personally, I now have no idea what to do. I hate all jobs that exist and I really do not want to be forced to do the fun storyline as a job I don't enjoy, don't like the thematic for nor think it even looks cool. I mean I have three jobs at 50, but I have intentionally not done the storyline because I was waiting for a new job that I liked to do it. Not everyone is as extreme as me, but the way I see it they don't have to be to still be affected a lot more than those on the other side of the fence.

This isn't going to change. They already have the quests and abilities, made and tuned, for starting at level 30. It would take far too much work to change at this point.

Yeah, sorry. Don't see the appeal in grinding your way through 1-30. There's no fun to be had. This is a nice middle ground where I don't have to bother with spamming fates when I've already completed all the quests.

Ffxi you had to get to 30 to be allowed to unlock the other jobs, but they started at lvl 1

Yeah job(s) as in darkknight, mechanist(sp?) and Astrologian.

And hell probably share 90 percent of gear. Outside of Ironworks, and new tomes gear.

You're PAYING the EXPANSION to go to NEW ZONES/JOBS/RACE. and so on. Newbies should not care about the new stuff right now...
They have the whole 2.0 to get to, if anything, seeing those new jobs and other goodies should encourage them to play the game until the end, so they
can unlock all these new fun things.

Between all expansion areas being gated and no expansion areas being gated there is a middle ground where some expansion areas are gated and others aren't. Which, you know, isn't a hard concept (and before you make even more of a fool of yourself, you might want to check if there are MMO's that use this middle ground. HINT: you don't need to look far for a MMO that did this).

Should it encourage them? Sure. But lets not pretend that there won't be new players annoyed that they don't have access to any of the cool stuff in the Heavensward trailers without going through a big chunk of the original game. That's why a balance between gated and not gated content is a good thing.

And no, Expansion doesn't mean all the new stuff is inaccessible without completing the original game.

Let them be annoyed. Asking that players clear the base game's main story isn't asking for much at all.

Oh well then? I think the main problem here is people are mad because they cannot access the new job's right on the dot.
They have to do the same amount of work as the rest of us did. Seriously, you can faceroll 50 in about a few days, then take some time
to run all the story and you SHOULD [if really dedicated] be able to open HW in about a week or two...but don't race to end over it.

Is it even sure that the new jobs requires the completion of the MSQ ? I thought it was the lvl 50-60 job quests.

1) The cap will be level 60 in the expansion and that will be the end-game, so it wouldn't happen right away.

2) Plenty of people already level 1-50 in fates as a tank spamming Flash and then greed gear from WoD/etc/poetics and get on a tank in current FCOB and then complain when they're called out for being bad as "Well I usually heal/dps this.", so this is a moot point. It already happens.

3) If SE was truly worried about this, they would make it role-specific for what level it unlocks at. I.E.: Mechanist would unlock at whatever level your Bard is, Astroligian would be based on the avg. level of SCH+WHM, and Dark Knight would be WAR+PLD average. I think part of the problem is we don't really understand if there will be any changes to the current status quo in regards to Classes and Jobs. As it stands...
1. Equipping a weapon makes you an associated "class"
2. Equipping a job stone makes you a "Job"
3. "Jobs" are tied to a particular "class" and therefore a particular weapon/magic skill
4. Because a "Job" and its associated "Class" rely on the same weapon/magic skill, they share the same levels (leveling 1 is equivalent to leveling the other).

So, here we have 3 incoming "Jobs". But apparently, none of them are associated with a given class and will start at level 30. Is this going to be a case of mechanics that are done "just cause" or is the plan to actually rework some of the class/job systems? And, in the future, if classes aren't being rethought, when does a job get a class and when does it not?

I've heard talk about them trying to move away from the classing system all together. Because honestly, it doesn't add anything to the game. It makes it hard to introduce "multiple job routes" because the classes are more-or-less backbones of the jobs (which is why you won't see rogue having thief and ninja) and make for balancing issues (you can't really buff summoner without buffing scholar)

Maybe it was already talked about but what hapens to a dkn synched down to lv 15 for sastasha ? PLD loses some skils doing a lv 15 dng, what hapens to a job that starts at lv 30 (like dkn asg mch) with a number of skils already under his belt ?

I guess that the skills below lvl 30 will have a level so that if you level synch you will only have those skills.

Entry into the new areas/Heavensward requires completion of the 2.55 MSQ, so yes.

From a design standpoint, theres realistically no reason to restrict skills for level sync'd content when you already start off with said skills. All it does is dumb down the class even more for content you've already passed.

Like, realistically speaking is there any reason to not let a DRG use full thrust in Coppperbell? It's not like it's going to make low level dungeons more trivial and it just becomes a challenge of staying awake when I can only do a 1-2 combo (or worse, impulse drive).
