Well guys, I have reached end-game and on my way to a Relic.
Got a nice FC and LS and I can truly say at this point, I'm having a lot of fun.
Now I feel like I have tons to do.
CM = boring.
Prae = Boy that was fun as hell.
Ifrit: Super fun.
FATE Grind = Better with my FC.
WP = Fun. Stupid Tonbery stalker shits.
AK = Didn't do much, lost at first boss last night and I was tired.
Chimera = I didn't need it buy FC member did, was very fun.
Materaia = Never touched it, but the whole convert thing is fun and melding stuff sounds pretty neat. I'm going to continue crafting. Can get some good cash.
FC = Love them, they make me want to log on and play, I even stay on later.
LS = Same as above.
I actually like that we have to talk and think now in some dungeons after a few wipes lol.
So yeah, end-game is finally where I have friends and stuff and actually have fun.
But we still lack content lol. Leveling an alt, is not content. There is 0 reason to return to newbie dungeons, so they sit there and make awesome dungeons like Haukke, 1 run and you're done. Add hardmodes to all dungeons to create variety and add tomes there too and seals anything.
I dunno about 2.1, I didn't know we wouldn't have personal housing and I only care about CT and housing...not FC housing.
Maybe in 2.2 things will get much more fun, they really just need to have minigames...please, please minigames! Better events, swimming, Triple Triad, anything so people can just go do other things other than fight.
Right now, my main beef is the HORRIBLE lag I keep having and friggin' 90k error. It's insane. Gamebreaking totally.

Cape Westwind - Write in full detail why would I do this of my freewill after beating it if not to help people?
Hydra - Relic quest, skippable otherwise.
Coils - The actual only true end-game currently.
Crafting/Alts - Not end game content
GC - Not end game content
Guildleves - You can in a semantics kind of way consider it content but there's no substance to it - it's a mean to an end.

I don't know about you, but most people who go play MMO's don't go in with the expectation of becoming gatherers/crafters/farmers.
The scope of combat class design and rewards and encounter design far overshadows the assets dedicated to crafting/gathering systems. I can think of MMO's with little crafting/gathering/economy play.
I cannot think of MMO's without combat content. Because the market is overwhelmingly skewed for it.
So don't go pretending like crafting/gathering is an equal alternative to an audience that mostly joins the game for the combat/storyline.
Crafting isn't even content considering you do the same thing to level all crafting classes. You get HQ items, produce HQ goods and turn them in for big exp. You slap some gear on at 50 and do the same thing, except you turn it in to players instead of an NPC.
Executing Coil takes significantly more effort and involvement than doing the same rote rotation of skills a HQ equipped crafter does. My Goldsmith's HQ rotation is pretty simple. All it takes is farming HQ mats.
For people who join this game for interesting combat content, all they have is Coil. That's it. And even coil is cutting it close considering how easy Turn 1-4 is. 4 only begins to get sort of challenging, but nothing on WoW levels of encounter design. -

In fact until I embraced and accepted modern mmos. I was the same way. Leveling in WoW was cake in comparison. Even a complete numbskull could level with little difficulty. No exp loss upon death, no corpse retrieval, it was simple. Raids in WoW? 0 Risk. You can die and what happens? Repair bill? entire guilds lost their corpses by being camped by "Raid level" npc's that were KOS to you. WoW you could try again and again with little to no risk of failure. For every reason you hate "the new wow" some people hated vanilla wow.
P.S. WoW did it's own copying in it's time too. Namely DAOC and EQ. WoW took things from multiple sources just as every mmo attempts to do. Heck, even their artistic style resembles a lot like DAOC in ways.
