1. I mean I can't in good faith argue that it wouldn't affect sales "at all" I just think that making something that is currently useless, worthwhile makes more sense. And another dot on the line in their vertical progression if anything just keeps players engaged and chasing those higher numbers. Also idk man they didn't seem to care at all about the market when OC released lmao (not trying to argue that, I just thought it was funny)

2. The problem that I keep mentioning is that we didn't all have the time available to play together and we wanted to make it happen. We did so mission accomplished.

I don't know about universalis, and I'm at an 'agree to disagree' point in the discussion, but I figured I'd add my own personal experience of a main-player on the Crystal data centre.

I have visited every world, both yesterday and today, to check current gear prices. It would cost roughly between 3m-5m per set, pending engagement with a crafter for collaboration purposes.

And I understand, 'somehow' that can be a -lot- of gil for folks, while to me it's a drop in a puddle.

In any case, it's good to know that the .hackers are still keeping Morganna at bay.

Can you like at least do the bare minimum? 740 gear is free. You can get 4 of them from the last normal raid. 720 gear from the dungeon. More 720 from the previous alliance raid. The game is already stupidly easy, demands like this just ruin it more

1M can be a lot to get if you don't actively play the game between patches but they should also have been aware of that when they returned to the game and maybe returned a few days before to do some content and get gear from normal raids, dungeons, etc.

It's also the case that most FCs have a crafter that can make or has made some gear, so that they either wouldn't need to buy it or they'd have the gil to buy it. I've never been in an FC that does not have one of these, ever, so your FC seems like an outlier.

Moreover, submarines and airships exist for the purpose of FCs making huge sums of gil in order to help their FC members, so you could look into those.

1 million is definitely a lot for me, I generally have around 1.5 - 2 million max, so blowing most of that on gear just to do the newest content can be frustrating, but honestly, I just do the older dungeons for practice to get my chops back (what chops I have :3) and bonus, I get the gear I need.

A lot of reasonably polite crafters will make you a whole set for free if you supply a specific requisite material.

Don't wanna work? Then don't feel entitled to be in a raid where the game itself is telling you to get better gear, or you will be gatekept from it. By the game.

Thanks for the worthless comment because guess what, we weren't gatekept from anything. The game is designed for people to hop back in and play immediately and with an arbitrary barrier, we still did.

I hope that thought continues to make people like you and the others who think their way to play is the only way, mad, because the reality is that most of you people are the ones who got this game in the state that it's in.

Also, My gear was 745 so I was good. Again I was helping others. But you would have known that if you would have actually read my post and didn't start seeing red the second you felt your personality, aka the game get critiqued for literally any reason at all.

Lol we absolutely did the bare minimum and bought the gear. If you don't like that the game allows that then be mad. Also 740 isn't free what are you talking about? If you have to get them from a raid then there is cost in time. We only have so much time together since we don't choose to no life this specific game which incentivizes the least amount of grind possible.

Absolutely with you on this one. There’s no reason why dungeon gear or even tomestones gear from a vendor couldn’t be traded. 100% of that gear gets unused with the next iLVL cap raise anyway - ending up in glamour dressers, traded in with GC or simply discarded. I’d be more than happy to kickstart a returning friend so we can play together. It doesn’t hurt my ego, nor does it invalidate hours of my own experience farming that gear. There’s ofc multiple ways of obtaining tomestones, one doesn’t have to do only roulettes, but what if that returning player isn’t fond of that content? Should we subject them to farming it for a week? They’ll lose interest in the game, because they might have come back for one piece of content. I honestly don’t think it’s a big deal to allow used dungeon / tomes gear to be tradable. Some people will have the counter-argument of “farming your gear after returning helps you remember your job again”… BS. If that was why roulettes are there, then we wouldn’t have the crafted gear option.

I swear a big part of this community sometimes acts like they have a patent on how to play this game and any suggestion for a different approach “isn’t the right way to have fun”.

In the current state of affairs when crafted gear is a thing in the game, ready to be bought without ANY prep required from the buying party, then there’s no logical reason for not allowing trading even used dungeon / tomes gear (I mean gear you can buy for Mathematics and the other tomes, I forgot the name of them). If the OP had enough Gil and was willing to spend it, he could’ve just bought however many sets of gear his friends needed and nothing would prevent them from entering new content (apart from MSQ / quest progression ofc). What if we got rid of all RPG aspects, made gear purely cosmetic, and all stats are baseline and level based?

Let's remove the need for gear or gear tiering entirely.

90% of the game's content is so easy, majority of players could do it blindfolded.

So why not?

The game has been deleting all of the aspects I cared about for years, from resistances, to differences in gear, etc. It's WoW all over again.

Just get rid of the lot. I enjoy PvP partly because I like the fact that I don't have to gear for it. Just throw everyone in a lobby, or whatever.

Remove levelling too, or make it so I can accumulate levels and then hand the leftover XP to someone that doesn't play.

I'm not being sarcastic. My levels of care are just at an all time low.

I miss MMORPGs.

You still had to prep to get the gil to buy off the board. Sometimes prepping is 'passive' and oft overlooked with the minute details like gil when it's in abundance. I am actually on Haru's side. No need for hand-me down features if we just remove gear progression and just use character levels. Imagine that, needing to gain a level or two to open up new content.

What would your answer to the ever present aspect of character progression some people yearn for? If gear is a roadblock, just remove it and have a different way to show character improvement.

Life comes first, and this game has catch up mechanics. If the 2-3mil total in gil for pieces of gear was too much, I don't know what to tell you. You got left behind, it's not too hard to invest some time or gil to catch up. 3-5mil per set from someone in your DC checking. Others were guessing and didn't factually check. please don't take hearsay as fact. There are ways to see purchase history of items and none were over what I said earlier when I checked... even at a market board.... in game. As I said previously, hyperbole can only get you so far before we straight out call it a lie.

You people are gonna have to do better if you think you're gonna get by me with your insane takes. You read the thread and im willing to bet you just liked everything that went with your bias instead of hearing anything out that was a different opinion. I'm pretty sure I've knocked out just about every argument most people have brought and not a single person has been able to tell me why we can't trade dungeon gear. I have no clue where the actual line should be drawn but I think we are pretty far to one side so I just thought F it why not one more small thing XD. - Your question is presupposing the answer. 1. That's not a valid question 2. You have no proof that it would even affect anything that much, and 3. You can deduce that because its weaker than literally all of the other gear that it doesn't stop people from having a demand for the crafted and tomb gear. It isn't my intention to lie or spread misinformation. I'm just going off market board prices from day to day in my DC, -including- purchase history and listings. It's pretty expensive for an average, low effort/grind player.

- Do daily 12 custom deliveries, will give you enough currency to grab crafter 720 gear or something. Then craft your best gear by buying HQ mats and having everything melded. Will be tough but good luck.
- Or buy 720 crafter gear which is extremely old and cheap now.
- Spam normal raids 4-8 to get pieces of gear.

But overall this game does and will punish you if you haven't been to the date because prices known to inflate a lot. Is it boring? yes but we're all been through this.

If that will help you let go of this thread, sure. Trading dungeon gear means returners who are not looking to do high-end content would always upgrade their gear by buying the latest dungeon sets. The only exceptions are a ring (could still be from another dungeon) and a weapon. And since dungeons have unlocked loot from the start, gear would be pretty cheap.

Anyone could stop playing in X.0, come back in X.5 and gear up to the entire expansion by spending 300k gil, which can be farmed within 2 hours in X.0. Now, good luck convincing casual subscribers to remain active in such a system. It's best to start introducing new housing districts too...

It isn't my intention to lie or spread misinformation. I'm just going off market board prices from day to day in my DC, -including- purchase history and listings. It's pretty expensive for an average, low effort/grind player.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing about your pricing post. OP claimed each piece was 1mil a pop. Your research showed that isn't the case in 90% of the market.

No thanks I like having to run dungeons to get gear. Your group managed to gear up just fine without trading dungeon gear so I really don't see the need to change this.

You know you could still run dungeons and get gear right. it would just give people more of a reason to run them to get the gear. Maybe even gear up multiple jobs they are leveling up. Maybe run more of level dungeons.

It doesn't have the same meaning if people can just buy stuff. What if you could just buy savage gear or ultimate weapons off the market board? Some things should remain for people to get themselves and the fact is you don't need to trade dungeon gear to catch up and do new content, therefore there is no need for it to change in my opinion. As you stated your friends managed just fine without it and they also could have just taken a little time to gear themselves up.

Barrier to entry is working as expected
Maintain your gear, or farm some quick gil to buy the crafted gear
You have an FC, use the submarine system to prevent further hiccups in the future
You have a plethora of tools at your disposal, yet you choose to cry on the forums instead of working. It's not a good look.

found the people who make my roulettes take forever by always going in with the bare minimum gear and still whining about that. you couldve been 730 before 7.2 already, and easily after 7.2 came out.

FFXIV devs: No.That would make too much sense and make gearing too easy. If your FC member wants better gear then they need to work for it.

I love the fact that the op keeps trying to sound smart by constantly insinuating that none of us is reading what he said. Only to rebuttal stuff that makes even less sense for the sake of winning an argument.
