I've been doing the same since release and have had barely any queues. No point in wasting time when I can just sleep and play in the morning. Bonus: people who play like this are not taking up space in the evening queues.

They started telling us in July it would be bad. Never in any of the previous expansions have they warned us that far in advance to expect problems. So yes, they did warn us it would be *this* bad.
They still need to sort the errors that are kicking people to the end of the queue, you shouldn't have to wait five hours only to wait five more hours, but they continue to be transparent about it. You can blame them for a lot but warning us isn't one of the things they didn't do.
Dude, eat a snickers.
A lot of people make it a bigger deal than it is.
Lets go with your version : Its a lie.
And so what ? The WORST, WORST its gonna cost you is 30USD if you do NOT play for 2 months but stay subbed. Is there like a race to finish Endwalker first ? Are they giving away some prizes ?
I play by bits in the mornings, just got to the moon and what ? If I cant queue I just do something else or dont play at all. And before you say I'm blindly defending them, no I am in fact not. I critique FF14, The Community and the Devs a lot, like a LOT, but as I said before, the worst it costs you is 30 USD in 2 months if you stay subbed while not playing. I'm anything but wealthy, and even I can somehow manage that and if I could not, I just unsub, its that simple.
And "Demanding" things because I gave a company 15 or 30 USD is a joke, I own Endwalker and I will own it even after the 2 months.
No. He is not exaggerating at all. I get home around 5:25 to 5:35 P.M everyday Monday through Friday from work. My Que last night was 4465 when I logged on. It took 1 hour 22 mins to get to 2210. I got booted from que, logged back in fast as hell and was back at the que saying 4483. So yeah. Things are nice and dandy in your world and God must be blessing you. But keep in mind not everyone playing this game has your EXCELLENT and rather Wondrous luck as far as getting into this game.
The question is though, how long until you noticed until you were booted from queue? Because if you logged back in as soon as you got the error you would have been in the same place in queue. This has been confirmed by me and many others from my discord. I don't know if it's the same all around but if every time I dc/d and I immediately logged back in and had the same queue position as I had before and others said the same thing than I'm going to stick with that. So apparently you waited to long to log back in or just didn't notice in time that you got kicked and took to long to get back in to keep your spot.
Sir/ma'am what planet do you live on?? On Planet Earth no one hands out money for free. Hell!!! you can barely get a millionaire to give you 5 dollars. They would look at you like you just took the last of their paycheck. The apologies are nice and great and all, but I have to agree with Mordranar all the way. And i can understand him NOT wanting to pay for something but he can't play it like he wants and when he wants.
I for one LOVE FFXIV and I LOVE Yoshi-P and his crew but only adults who manage their money will see that giving out money, right now, for free is not something most of us can do if we can avoid it. Let us not forget, but we are smack dap in the middle of a pandemic. For most of us playing FFXIV after a hard day of work is what relaxes us, along side a glass of liquor. I hate to say it, but I kinda feel like I am handing SE my money as well. I had to literally get up this morning at 3 A.M, which is my gym time, just to log on and play. Doing that I had to say No to the gym this morning. That is NOT going to be a option. Not turning into a fat bastard over Square-Enix and their choices of doing things.
Wait for hours to get in? Ok ill bust out the switch or something while I wait. Getting 4 2002s and needing to retype password and reopen every time is ridiculous. Even if I do get in the game stalls out and I get dced anyway. I've had to start the same solo duty 4 times now and at some point a 5th due to getting dced in the middle of it. Even if I reconnect right away I get stuck in another queue. The world visit doesn't seem to help either. Never got a chance to look at the server status or pick which world to visit and while the queue is shorter(700ish vs 3.5k) the 2002s and dcs/lag make the game still unplayable. If I could get a refund on the expac and maybe buy it after this is all settled I would, but I doubt they would even let me since I got to lvl 88. Lock the character for all I care till I buy it again. Not like I can really use it now.
I would agree with this if you weren't already being compensated with free game time and (according to the devs) you will CONTINUE to be compensated with free game time until the issues are solved.
You're essentially playing the game for free right now and until the issues are solved, so relax.
I've had my fair share of that type of person in retail. The Karen's, basically. Even when the company is facing problems beyond their grasp and they try to compensate their customers to keep them happy they just get spit on. The customer of course would gladly take the compensation but in the end they always want more. The "I do not care 1 cent why they are not able to" attitude gives it away. Ignorance at best.
In case people are lost, this reply is in regards to Mordranar.
I took PTO for Endwalker and wow it was fantastic. Beat it during early access, zero server issues. Got to stay logged in too. :)
They botched it. Which, it happens. They are human. They are not infallible. But if you love the game, call them out on their mistakes, so they can do better.
And inb4 "there is nothing they could have done". Isn't it peculiar how they waited till official release for
"We are now ready to deploy the backup development servers to the public lobby servers, which will improve the capacity management of the lobby server and raise the maximum number of players in the queue to around 21,000. Since this will not require any maintenance, we will err on the side of caution and proceed with the deployment outside of peak hours. It is scheduled to be completed late in the night of December 7".
Early Access is just a stress test. They should of done this, a loong time ago.
So on my computer screen, since I have a 35 inch monitor, I have a movie going on a minimal view. That way I can see the view of FFXIV Que while it counts down to letting me in. So as soon as the Error 2002 message pops up, I click it and then relog back into the que.
There was one time last night when I got down in the que to around 2K from 4k something. Saw the error 2002 pop up. immediately logged back in and it put me back in que to 4.8K something. Talk about pissed off.
This will be my last reply to this thread cause some of the replies, Including my own, are getting out of hand, stupid, and just plain smart mouth at this point. I guess I am the only child in this thread. Disregard all the other angry folks that have replied here. I AM THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING. Square-Enix needs to do better at this point....much better. When the booty grabbers in that other company is doing better then them then that is a HUGE problem. Enough said...moving on the next topic.
I know you're not the only one complaining. I really empathize with the attitude as well, I have had many frustrating interactions with the game this weekend. But I asked you a question and your response was "do better". What does that even mean? If you want anyone to take you seriously, maybe "do better" with telling us what you think anyone can and should do... But hey, maybe you just wanna scream into the void and don't want the void to answer back. In which case I suggest your porch instead of a public forum.
Zo ma godda they are doing the best they can.... Like zo ma godda... ppl please this isn't some mom and pop shop. I'm disgusted by the fanboys who try to make us feel bad for a company that is ripping us off. 7 days game time??? So this will be solved in 7 days? If so fine, that's fair. However according to Yoshi, who is selling snake oil, it won't be. Btw they are still advertising. Honestly, I hate the ffxiv community after this.
It would truly be nice if that were the case, but I doubt SE's biggest rival is going to lend servers to assist. They are working on the errors and I'm sure the queues will lessen in a couple weeks. Why? Those who came back only to play for the story will have finished and left.
Okay, I understand, and agree. That being said, why are you acting like this now? We've been given 7 days of time and have used... 4 and change so far. They have gone on record saying that 7 days might turn into more if the problem persists. What is frothing at the mouth now doing for anything? The frustration is real but if you want to scream and rage about the state of the game, whilst simultaneously not entertaining anything approaching a dissenting opinion, there are better places to do so than that game's public forum.
You're right. They have every right to vocalize their anger. However some are just trying to stir the pot instead. We were warned in July of the congestion upcoming and we will be compensated every day there is a problem until it is fixed. They have been thorough with their explanations and yet you are still angry? If you are still angry after the fact they are trying to procure more servers when they can't because of problems beyond their reach and they are compensating us days lost than you got problems unfortunately.
Same here OP.
The guy sells a game for 2 persons to 10 people and than try to put himself in the position of a victim (he couldn't know it would be successful as if he couldn't know the number of CD key sold and point the semi conductor shortage).
Following that logic, they could have put all this advertisement money on the server infrastructure, couldn't they?
They took our payment knowing they couldn't provide, period, and now they have our money, I hope they will provide and show humility.
We shouldn't be charged for a game we can't play when we want to play it.
EDIT : I came from work 90 minutes ago, I have been disconnected 3 times from queue already and everytime I had to try to reconnect multiple time, and everytime to number of people in line was greater, from 3k 90minutes ago, now I am at 6k before I can join the game. Yea, that does make a lot of sense. So this game is be to finances by everyone for the few that doesn't work in the morning or can work from home so they can babysit their computer all day and never disconnect?
World Login Errors and Resolutions - Naoki Yoshida
We resolved nothing and we are not to blame. Be compassionnate since we are so successful.
All I see is people being unnecessarily rude on both sides of the argument.
I'm sorry, normally I'm a pretty understanding dude when it comes to MMOs and launch days (I'm a fucking Warcraft veteran if that tells you anything) and they haven't done jack shit to explain much of anything. Sure, they warned us congestion would get bad. Sure, they warned us they couldn't procure more servers. But actually explaining anything? Square's been pretty mum with their explanations. Like, the explanation for Error 2002 is just bogus. There should be zero issues with the log-in servers being unable to handle players in a queue in excess of 21,000 players. And if they are, that's shitty coding causing this issue and not because of some hard cap on the log in server that causes players who are only at 2k in the queue to be disconnected and have to retry. I could understand Error 2002 happening if someone tries to log in and their like number 17k+ in the queue, but this shit is happening even for players at 500 in the queue and who shouldn't be experiencing this sort of thing.
I would also point out that them blaming Covid for being unable to procure more servers is also pretty bogus. They should have procured more servers after Shadowbringer's launch, when they first learned that the game had attracted enough of a following that their server infrastructure couldn't handle the influx of players. Granted ShB wasn't nearly as bad as Endwalker has been, since we've got the WoW Exodus to deal with, but they should have procured additional servers long before Covid hit and made a mess of things. The fact that they did not indicates that Square didn't think that the same launch issues that plagued ShB was going to plague Endwalker, which by itself is a pretty dumb decision and lack of foresight.
You didn't read it, did you. They're cannibalizing their own development servers in an attempt to alleviate this situation. They will also be performing maintenance to resolve other errors in the queue, which are to take place Wednesday. But hey, I get it, you have your narrative. Yoshi-P and SE bad.
They've been nothing but transparent through the whole process. Read their latest lodestone post. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...24153ef4405c13
How do you know they didn't prepare for a typical increase from ShB to Endwalker? However, the influx of new players combined with the global situation that hit with COVID was basically an unforeseeable situation.
But I did.
Is there any noticeable change on our end of the experience? So far I didn't experience anything different and so far I don't hear anything different happening either. That they have done something or not, we cannot know. They said they have done something, that we can be sure, but beyond this, we can't know. And we can be mostly sure the experience on our end didn't change at all.
I can read alright, but words can be far from reality, especially from a salesman or a public representative.
Got into the queue tonight, booted, back in with 2000 more people in the queue... 45 minutes later booted with a 3001 error and now can't get back in with more 3001, so that queue slot is gone. That's the day over with play wise, because even if I get back into the queue now I won't have enough time to get through it and have any play time left. I started 2 hours before I wanted to play.
Does it suck? Yeah. Is SE scrambling to try and fix it? Yeah. I get the frustration, I'm feeling it right now. But it's people on the other end of this who are just as unhappy about the situation as we are. No one at SE wanted a launch where this happened.
People need to remember that and find better ways to vent their frustration than attacking SE. It won't help.
Here’s the thing about the Lodestone post. It talks about 2002 when trying to get into the queue. Nowhere in that topic does it even touch on 2002 while you are already in queue. That is the situation I want to hear them explain and give an update/fix on.
I read ''We are now ready to deploy the backup development servers to the public lobby servers, which will improve the capacity management of the lobby server and raise the maximum number of players in the queue to around 21,000. Since this will not require any maintenance, we will err on the side of caution and proceed with the deployment outside of peak hours. It is scheduled to be completed late in the night of December 7, Japan time.
'' I guess it is tomorow then ... or not since now it is 9H25 am 8th of december in Japan.
But I can't read right?
But it is fine, you are taking it personnal and so am I. This is only a game. I just decided to make an investment in this game and I am disapointed so far in the delivery. How can you be disagreeing with my position is beyond me. I am okay with you no sharing it, completly fine. But I can't comprehend how come you all come in to defend SE or its spokeperson like they are attacked.
And I'll be the first to congratulate them when they will really fix the problem and make their game playable and enjoyable for everyone. I have been playing FF series since the first game. I am sold to them, but I know my money is worth more than what I have bought so far and we are many beleiving this launch is a flop. And although we all know they can do better, and they did relaunch this game to the surprise of many and surpassed wow, we also know deserve better than this.
