There is no issue. There is only you being upset that someone is simply existing in your space. If you don't like dealing with other people in an MMORPG, you are playing the wrong game.

No, even if my choices were watch grass grow or follow some sensitive weirdo around in game, I'd rather watch grass grow. You can think something is ridiculous and not have anything to do with any of it. If there was actual harassment, I'd be 100% against it and would help anyone trying to get whatever changed.
The matter of the fact is, someone's controllable pixels staring at your controllable pixels isn't harassment. The fact you let something like that upset you to the point of sending in over 100 tickets says more about you than these "e-stalkers". Things should only matter when doxxing is involved.
You need to learn what scope is and what companies can and can not do. As someone that's also worked in support, there is this thing called "scope" meaning the area of things the company can cover. If someone "stalked" you in game and then showed up to your home, once it goes irl it's out of their scope. At that point, if it's that serious cops should be called and they will handle it, however they will probably tell you to stop playing the game or make an entirely new account/character, which you seem to be against so it's apparently not that bad.
However once things go IRL, SE has no rights, authorities, etc to deal with that issue, that's, again, out of their scope. No amount of harassing SE with tickets is going to change that.
How is what a person does on their own time Square Enix's problem? Why should the support staff be punished with over 100 tickets because of what someone does IRL?? If its a problem then have your friend call the cops. Don't punish Square Enix and all of us with your complaints.
Again, I see you're a little off topic. Let me redirect you. The point of this thread is to discuss preventative measures, not your opinions and critiques on how I chose to protect myself while being harassed. So please, stay on topic and politely state your opinion regarding the idea of changes being made to the game. Thank you.
I'll say it again because I see you're a little off topic. Let me redirect you. The point of this thread is to discuss preventative measures, not your opinions and critiques on how I chose to protect myself while being harassed. So please, stay on topic and politely state your opinion regarding the idea of changes being made to the game. Thank you.
But it IS on topic. You're saying you're being stalked in game and that your friend is being stalked in game so you sent in 100+ tickets and are scared something with go offline. I'm saying there's no preventative measures SE can do to stop that. Online security is in YOUR hands, not SE. SE steps in when it's preventing game play, someone's character near yours is not preventing game play. IRL/Offline actions are what you go to the actual police for, not SE.
The point of this thread is to kick up a stink about how you feel harassed (even though there is no real evidence of it) and why Square Enix needs to act quickly about an issue literally nobody else but you is experiencing. Lets not kid ourselves here.
The truth of the matter is that Square Enix does a great deal to protect players from harassment. You literally do not have to hear from anyone you don't want to. If someone circumvents a blacklist and contacts you by chat with another alt, they are quickly dealt with. Your problem is that another person simply chooses to exist in your space. That is not a real problem. You are not being harassed... and it could be argued that sending over 100 reports over such a short period of time can be considered harassment.
See how she's responding with the same bot like response every time she's called out? Because she has no rebuttal for being found out that this is nothing but a joke for the sake of trolling. And as I previously stated, there is no stalker.
To be fair, an entire region's worth of players have been ignored by Square Enix in regards to the lack of a promotion for European players when it comes to acquiring the black fat chocobo that North American and Japanese players received access to. With that in mind, I don't feel it's a stretch for the original poster to have run into difficulties reaching the support team and being taken seriously.
Its actually pretty sad. Its what a child would do, but then again this whole post reminds me of a little kid complaining to a parent about their sibling who keeps looking at them at the dinner table. Its like for the love of god, learn some coping skills to deal with other human beings.
Amazing how people can continue to argue with themselves and debate over what they know little about. Thanks for all the responses. I really appreciate the attention to the thread.
Just to clarify, SE's ToS defines harassment as "speech and/or behaviour that inflicts deep emotional distress on another person."
They also list Stalking as "behaviour that could constitute harassment".
The OP reporting said behavior (stalking, making alts to circumvent the blacklist, making alts based on the OP's characters, spamming their Message book, etc.) is following with SE's guidelines. :B

I didn't even notice they're on Balmung lmao, that's exactly what happened! This is all just RP drama loool.
With as anal as SE is when creating their "tumblr safe space" mmorpg, if any of that was even remotely true (not the guidelines but the person actually doing what OP is saying) the "stalker" would have been banned, hands down. I got banned in game for saying the F-word to someone cursing me out because they thought I was killing quest mobs to hurt newbies (I was grinding fleece). SE is that strict and if there's any proof you're being "mean" to someone, you're getting banned.
Over a hundred reports and nothing? Cause this is just rp dating drama.
The OP stated that the person made an alt but never actually said anything to them. Therefore how was the blacklist circumvented? The OP said the person wrote one entry in their message book which stated "Be Kind". How is that spamming? People are free to name their characters whatever they want. Simply being around another person is not stalking. If it was a punishable offense, then one of the 100+ tickets that were spammed would have resulted in punishment.
If anything se is to stricked with stuff honestly, but any more everyone wants to cry about every little thing. Honestly they should rlly stop enforcing any rules but the ines doing with rmt, cheaters. People need to grow thicker skin and stop being snowflakes about everything, when blacklist does block them from talking to u, so use it lol.
I've been saying they are really good with protecting people against harassment. I've seen people suspended for sending one of those text pictures with a "thank you for party" note at the end of a dungeon because they violate anti spamming rules. I've seen people punished for spamming emotes. I've seen people punished for saying bad words... so I agree with you that they are really strict about it.. but I don't agree that they should just let people get away with whatever they want. For example, in a legitimate case of harassment, a player might create an alt to circumvent a blacklist to harass a player. Thats when a report should be made and Square Enix should handle it... but what the OP of this thread is talking about is NOT real harassment.
Look. I have no desire to argue with you but If I have an opinion I am going to voice it. I've been a member since 2013 and I have 29 posts.. most of which are in this thread because I find it THAT ridiculous. I think that spamming reports is just about the worst thing you can do, and I say that speaking as someone who works dealing with tickets like the ones you've sent.
You keep telling people in here who you disagree with that they should stay on topic or whatever.. but I have not seen a single off-topic reply. Like I said before, I don't enjoy seeing someone go through a hard time playing this game. I've been playing since 1.0. I love this game and I think we have the best community of any MMORPG. I just don't see harassment as the huge major game breaking issue you're trying to make it out to be.
Is this game perfect? No. Not at all. But try playing Starcraft II or WoW or literally any other online game and tell me FFXIV doesn't have a much better community. Yes, there will be people out there who are not nice. Welcome to the internet, but overall, FFXIV has an amazing community.
Has there been instances in which I've come across a not so nice person? Probably. I just don't let things like that weigh me down, especially since its so rare.
I've gotta be honest, I'd rather have a community that isn't afraid to voice their opinions - even if they are jerks - than this community where everyone is passive-aggressive, overly sensitive, and reports for anything and everything. Like someone said, you can be banned if you say a curse word and somebody - doesn't matter who - reports you. I actually do not think SE is very good at handling harassment. Like I said, earlier in this thread, they are heavy-handed.
Like the OP may have an actual stalker, but this supposed stalker knows exactly how to annoy the OP while avoiding punishment by SE. Whether it's true or not, it's not like there aren't people who do this. Many in this community know exactly how to skirt the line. I've said this before in other threads, but I'd argue this game's community is more "toxic" than many of the comparisons given.
Agreed.
Stalking is a harder thing for GMs to track because a stalker doesn't have to do anything that shows up in a chat log to do it.
Another issue is who's to say the stalker didn't get their account banned or terminated and just make another account? I think bans are account-based, not IP.
You'd be surprised how "petty" some of the community can be. >x>
How has it been proven to be fake?
Square Enix can't handle anything that happens in real life. Once it starts becoming a problem there, you MUST contact local law enforcement. It's outside of SE authority.
That you aren't taking this to law enforcement casts doubt on your claims.
That second screenshot you provided doesn't help your claims either. I'm sorry but you're reporting for someone putting "Be nice" in a message book and admit that you don't know that the character who put it there had anything to do with the original harassment issue. Seriously? I can see why the GMs aren't doing anything. You're randomly reporting players for innocuous activities.
Again, contact local law enforcement if this has moved into the real world as you. Also, seek counseling to help you deal with this in a better fashion because it sounds like you've started jumping at everything when most of it is probably is not harassment at all. That will better prepare you to handle any genuine harassment that may continue to occur.
Nothing has been proven either way but it's not for us to be the judges, not is this the place for the OP to continue to pursue her claims. All she's done is demonstrated why SE is ignoring her reports.
This was a good read. Balmung truly is the Florida of FF14.
That's interesting. You say you've no desire to argue...yet...here you are. If you don't see an issue then why continue to lurk this thread any more, especially after being dismissed so many times? This only proves my point that insanity can feed itself and that people with their own agenda, such as stalkers, dont necessarily need a response to keep their interest. They just enjoy the act of doing it. You've made it quite apparent that you see no issue with moderation, so you're literally being counter productive at this point...That sounds kind familiar; perhaps hypocritical. You're speculating assumption after assumption and I won't partake in it. Like, I know my truth and I really don't need to know whether you agree or not. My situation is just one out of many that occur- which after seeing how positive you've been with your responses, it's really no wonder more people don't come forward. So again, if you'd like to continue, I suggest you form your own haters club and give it a pretty name that's worthy of your cause.
This comment goes for anyone else who is enjoying their sad attempts at trolling this thread.
♡ Best of Luck to you in your endeavors. ♡
I couldn't agree with this statement more. If you read through the replies of this post, everyone who disagrees with OP is called a troll, accused of going "off topic", or accused of personally attacking the OP. It's a very emotionally unstable way to deal with valid criticism of a topic put forth to the public. I sincerely hope the person gets the help they clearly need.
Although I am not against for SE in having the friends list fixed to include removal of the name on both ends, I see it as the OP simply isn't going to argue the reason's you guys are bringing up. . After all, they stated multiple times the purpose behind the thread and the reasons for the bumps. Hence the simple replies.
To put it simply, stop responding and move on to better threads.
If I was SE support and received 100 reports of "stalking" from one person, with no proof or evidence (as if there was the person would have been banned instantly, no questions asked. For someone to be stalked there needs to be a direct or indirect threat of harm to the person, which would have been picked up and banned instantly by SE), I'd think that the person making all these reports was the actual perpetrator of the harassment. Adding that person also floods forums and social media sites that the other person is likely to inhabit, kinda seems like a further intimidation tactic.
I havent been stalked in-game since making this post, and 100% SE should have done something, but has not...thus why I made this thread in the first place. Is it so wrong to advocate for changes when you feel that you've been wronged? I think not. Im not someone to waste my time, I genuinely care about people and I think its wrong that my friend and I had to endure this and I dont want to see it continue or happen to anyone else. If that means I have to take the blunt end of a sword to see some justice, so be it. I didnt expect everyone to understand, especially not after SE has ignored it. My whole point of posting in multiple threads to gain SEs attention to the issue to hopefully make a positive change to the features.
Oh stop it! A lot of people here have already picked apart your "story" and it's full of holes. Now you're just trying to throw a pity party for people gullible enough to actually believe you. The only time you're wasting is your own, and everything you've said up to this point is in a bucket that holds no water.
