That's the difference. Does a given player spend a lot of time in the game? Sure. Does that player necessarily spend time in the game at the usual raid times? No.

Not necessarily true. My T9 static raided anywhere from one to three times a week for varying lengths of time depending on when people were available. If people couldn't make it on one day, then we didn't raid that day, no big deal. Not every static has a rigid schedule; there are plenty of them out there that are willing to be flexible and work with people.

There's all kinds of reasons, I think people want to rush to call someone bad because they feel little inside and need to feel larger.

Or it could be that the content is so stale right now that if you aren't a scientist at speed clearing then you are bad, I've even seen tanks votekicked for pulling a bit slow.

There will always be that one pro in the group who is better than everyone, will it be you?

Don't necessarily need a static either, I pugged T9 through practice and then clear parties. It all depends on how you use your time, not how much. That's if you are actually trying to do everything at once.

I consider myself a casual even when raiding. I just devoted time to that more than other things in game which really there isn't much else to do anyway, save for crafting or leveling other classes but I have no interest in those atm.

I don't think there are any statics like this on Exodus. To be honest, it's hard enough to find clear parties on PF for EX primals, there's zero parties for Alexander normal drops, and most FC's have closed teams.

I respect both perspectives on this one. I personally used to hate raiding as I used to not like playing with others, but FF14 started me on the raid band wagon. I now love doing ex primals and dungeons and desperately want to get into Alexander. XD I will say that, while time isn't the sole reason preventing players from doing raids, it is indeed a factor. I usually work from 4pm to 12am at my hotel and when I get home is when I hop on to play some ff14. That time period sucks for trying to gather up a party for pretty much anything on my server.

One could say, "oh well play before work." Sure that is an option, but I have to consider other IRL activities and "Do I wanna be awake for that?" XD Basically as I stated above, time is a factor but not the end all reason for some not doing raids. I agree that if said player REALLY wanted it, they could make time, but I don't think there is anything wrong with not wanting to make time for it either. I personally think the game offers plenty to do for the non raider types though.

EDIT: Couple of options for those who want to raid but have trouble being on a the right times, are Link shells and large Fc's. (I need more link shells as my FC is made up of IRL friends. XD)

I'm actually dreading this particular point right now. I've made it to Snowcloak in the main scenario, and most of the videos I've watched of it seem to reduce it to 4-5 mass pulls (maybe 6?). Even though my paladin's gear would probably support that (109, mostly quest rewards + a few 115 crafted pieces), I'd think it a bit foolish to attempt on my first time in there. Sure, I could probably heal it (I have white mage at 103), but with my luck, I'd get a tank who pulls the world without telling anyone (though, I like to think I'm somewhat decent at handling tense moments, so maybe that wouldn't be completely bad ...).

As far as bad players, I go with most of the others here and say it's almost completely attitude (which I think refusing to take advice or make an effort to help the group falls under). Give me a well-mannered, attentive group of newbies and I won't care if it takes a few tries to get a fight down.

I also think AV is the devil, but then, I've only been there once ....

In every game I play I don't really care if the people I play with are bad. It's stupidity I can't stand, and that's what causes me the most inconvienence.

1. new players in farm groups
2. rude people/those who insult others
3. people who dont dodge aoes or ignore mechanics
4. people who dont do the mechanics right after being told multiple times not to
5. the same people making mistakes in a "farm" group
6. people who claim they know the fights or mechanics when they dont
7. people in farm groups who have the law bonus who dont speak up when asked who has the bonus
8. people who refuse to watch videos for raids/trials

Personally I don't watch videos. This is mainly due to I don't learn from watching. I learn more from trial and error then anything else. Can't help people's learning habits!

bad player is just simply incoherent...or unwilling.

But imo some of the vets (not all) of this game are worse: quitting at the start of a dungeon, yelling at new ppl, treating some content like its raid content now don't get me wrong I wanna finish as fast as I can but amdapor keep isn't A3s, and most importantly not understanding that humans make mistakes like pressing the wrong button.

On raid content meh Alex savage does not peak my interest like coil did but everyone is different.

People who still don't know the absolute basics of the jobs they're maining at level 50+.

Instead of trying to find a static that suits your times, why not try to create a static and recruit like minded people instead?

My Hitlist.

1. People who just won´t take advice.
2. Poeple who don´t only ignore advice, but try to convice you that they doing right.
3. Tanks who pull with Provoke
4. Healers keeping HoT´s up or apply it the second you pull a pack.
5. DPS who think they want to set the pace, and then - instead of a rude "pull more!!111" simply pull stuff themselfes.
5. People equally geared - doing awesome damage on par with the tank in tank-stance... (this ain´t no beat-em-up where button mashing makes you win against your younger sis)
6. Tunnel Visioned players
- a subcategory Tanks:
* Pullin in Dungeons like on a factory lane, not considering if someone falls behind or calls out for a short afk break. Especially anoying: Pulling in Alex-Normal without a hint of the pull.
* Playing Mr Happy Feet when positional classes are on board
* leaving a little break between packs so GL3 must fall of.
- Subcategory DPS: ignoring every mechanic of a fight because the are focused on they Parser ("how high can I get")
7. Leaving an Roulette instance the second they enter (I see you, Aurum Vale)
8. Sneaking up a Farm Group for the kill and messing it up, so after a wipe it´s perfectly clear who was the Tome Bonus...
9. getting carried through and dare to roll for the loot (and win it with 99% probability)
10. going full enrage the very first moment someone screws up (everybody makes a mistake time to time)

A bad player is :

"...Someone who tells you what to do rather than advising you what could you do better..."

A bad player is (not a complete list);

• A player who can't stop themselves verbally abusing others.
• A player who can't prevent themselves from raging at others mistakes (while ignoring their own).
• A player who deliberately plays below their ability in order to annoy others.
• A player who point blank refuses to learn even though it is well within their capability to do so.
• A player who expects others to meet their standard of what is good.
• A player who get's angry or pissy when others do not meet their expectations.
• A player who just can't stop offering unsolicited condescending advice during a dungeon run.
• Players who ragequit before a wipe happens.
• Players who ragequit after 1 wipe.
• Players who ragequit before anything starts, because one or more players gear doesn't meet their expectations.
• Players who deliberately step on other roles, for example that DPS who can't stop pulling every pack and dragging them back to the party.
• Players who regardless of any other factor, will not move out of an AoE/dodge a mechanic because it might disrupt their positionals. (It doesn't matter whether you overgear a fight or not, this is lazy play, and encourages new players to attempt the same strategy even though they are not geared enough to handle it.)
• Players who refuse to consider others needs, goals or feelings.
• Players who have no concept of showing others respect.

Indeed, I never learn anything from watching a video, there is quite literally no substitute for actual experience when it comes to learning strategy in an MMORPG, at least as far as I am concerned..

I'd like to add players who beg to be kicked to avoid the penalty, as being bad players......

Long story short about the DPS who did this in my last run of the night. He broke his gear and weapon midway through the final fight, and took enough damage to cause him to die while the rest of us lived. We wiped shortly after. He then started complaining to kick him, and knowing we couldn't get another player this late at night on our server, we opted to try once more. Our tank DCed due to computer issues, and the DPS started complaining to kick him again because of his gear, (clearly him just wanting to avoid the penalty or he would have left on his own). We said we'd like to try one more time due to said lack of players at this time of night, and he promptly logged off in the hopes we'd kick him while he was gone. Our tank's computer issues turned out to be worse than originally though, so she didn't come back right away, and we were busy communicating with her outside the game to try and help fix it. DPS got back on, saw we hadn't kicked him, then told us "fk u" when we said he could leave without having to be kicked, before he logged off again. All in all, had he just left, he would have been done with the penalty instead of waiting on us to kick him......

EDIT: I know this wasn't the nicest of ways we could have handled this, but if he was going into a run with his gear so close to being broken, he should at least be willing to leave on his own if he'd rather leave than help a group that is willing to try again despite his negligence. And yes, I'm tired and angry, (partly because this is far from the first time I've had players do this), and am going to bed now....

I don't know if this is really include a bad player.

A bad player has respect for nobody.

A SMN who has to be told to stop spamming Ruin. And use their dots. Also had to tell them to use atherflow and Dread wyrm possession.

I swear this happened last week. On the last boss of Fractal.

A bad player to me is one who is pushy, abnoxious, bosses others around, thinks DPS is all that matters. Ignores boss mechanics, runs ahead of the party. Acts like a preteen when they are over 30.

They're not mutually exclusive, though.

I'd like to echo those that have given plenty of 'bad attitude' examples. This is my number one culprit. Especially the ones that keep ragging on how other members of the party are so bad.

Once, back when me and a couple of friends had finally managed to get together an almost full raid party and started going into coil (some time last spring, so second coil was already out and first had been echoed and nerfed)... we ran into a DFed bard on T1 with sub-par gear (i55 mercenary pothelm, for example). He was above the requirement, of course, but only barely. He completely ignored silencing on the mini-boss, with the result of causing a wipe, and nearly killing us the second time (we barely made it that time). His reaction was to taunt us with how bad we were, that he had a level 90 character (level, not ilvl, though I assume he meant the latter) and that he was a pro. He kept up this "lol u nubs" talk the entire run... Not sure if we abandoned or if he ragequit or if we actually beat it with him still present... But to this day, we keep using "pothelm" as a term for (low-performance) bad-attitude players we run across ^^; Like... "got SV on my roulette with a pothelm tank".

I also dislike those people sneaking into farm parties when they haven't beaten the encounter. I don't mind at all if said 'new' person has seen the entire fight, or has an alt that has cleared it (and can prove it somehow), and contacts the party finder leader to ask if it's okay (or joins the group and then asks). But just sneaking in? Was in such a party once, where the 'tomestone bonus' message popped up. We asked who was the new one, and while we suspected one member of the party and specifically asked them, that person was all 'no, I'm not new'. Couldn't do the mechanics, and kept endangering us all (I think it was Ifrit Ex, and he ran around willy-nilly with the eruptions, hitting everyone and their mother, and generally... didn't get it), then at the end got the achievement, leaving everyone feeling kinda sour. I think all of us would have been a lot more okay with it if he'd actually said something, instead of pretending/lying like that =/

And I am fairly certain that a football/soccer player who is going all, "I'm so much better than you guys at this game, so I'm gonna solo this match and won't let you have the ball if I can help it. All the goals should be made by me," would be thought of as a bad player by his or her team mates, because he/she doesn't play well with others. ^^; Just because you're good at the action doesn't mean you're good at the game, especially if the game includes cooperating with other people. So I'd argue that yeah, a bad attitude in a player = a bad player. This isn't a solo game like golf or 1-on-1 ball sports (tennis singles, etc). It's a 'team sport', which means working together with your team, not against them. But this, of course, is my opinion =) For me, playing an MMO is not only about being good at jumprope. It's being good at team jumprope. (To use a popular raid/primal term.)

*cough* That could easily be me. I'm a craptastic SMN, but I readily admit this. I've gotten a bit better, but I got to 58 just the other day and got Dreadwyrm... and my reaction was "Oh great, another skill I can continuously forget to use \¬_¬/"
Though to be fair, I use my DoTs... I just tend to renew them a bit too often ^^; And I keep forgetting to use my pet's skills, though at least Garuda isn't on sic xD (I also rarely play SMN outside of a pre-made, so it mostly only affects people who know me and how well I play SMN... ^^; )

Tanks - it would be not being able to hold enmity while also not wearing armor that gives you a sufficient defense rating.
DPS- Not putting out the absolute most damage that your class can put out at your level and not trying to grab enmity away from the tank.
Healer- Not healing effectively and not casting buffs such as protect that provide adequate support for the party
In General- Getting hit by attacks that have visible markers or tells that otherwise make them easier to dodge, pumping stat points into attributes not appropriate for your class and job, equipping armor and weapons that aren't appropriate for your level just because they look cool (there's glamour for that)

Yes, yes, we get the message. You're a Bard and you don't like tanks. One of the reasons there are tanks that can't hold hate against you may be the fact that your weapon is higher ilvl than theirs and you given them no chance to build a small hate lead before you open up your initial damage burst which can rip hatred pretty successfully unless the tank has a lead or a good weapon. Not every player is lvl60 ilvl 200, so please have some consideration.

I'd also like to point out that being a tank is a relatively stressful job because a) people invariably blame the tank, b) people expect the tank to already know content even if they haven't run it before, c) some people expect mega pulls and rage when a tank isn't confident or up to it and d) too many players of other jobs would rather critique the tank over their gear or play instead of checking their own rotations.

Regarding that, it seems you think xXRaineXx meant the enemies' AoEs, while I'm fairly certain s/he means those AoE circles Bards, Summoners and Scholars throw out (if I forgot one job with AoE circles, I'm sorry!) ^^

Edit: Sure, for SMN/SCH, they can just toss up another bubble in the place you end up in -- it's a waste of casting time, but doable. Unfortunately, the BRD can't just put another piece of the floor on fire for quite some time ^^; So I understand it's a pet peeve for them. On the other hand, the counter-argument could be:

Exactly this. Put up a PF if you want super big and fast pulls. If you're going with DF, no one needs to play at your pace.

You do know Provoke has a higher range than shield and tomahawk? like grabbing 2nd pack on 2nd island in Neverreap, its easier to voke to avoid the twister and flash/overpower when they are in range.

For me its just someone who doesn't treat the other players on the team like people - you know, just be friendly, understanding. I'm not going to be unhappy if someone makes a mistake, hasn't learned some mechanic yet, doesn't play their job to the fullest efficiency etc. I'm not talking raids here - with something like Alex there's a minimum expectation to be met - I don't care how skilled you are, if you make someone else feel like crap you hit the top spot of bad player for me.

The only bad players are the ones who refuse to improve, the ones satisfied with mediocrity. I'll help someone who has no idea what to do as long as they want to learn, as long as they try. What I can't stand is repeatedly wiping because of players that won't perform mechanics or fail to meet dps checks because they're playing the game "their way"
