And you obviously don't. To use Trick/Sneak Attack in combat, you need to use Ninjutsu. Not the Hide button. You can hide the Hide button in combat, and it will literally have NO DIFFERENCE on a good Ninja's rotation.

You may consider this useless but for me this is the best thing ever. Even if the time doesn't 'add up' a super lot, my laziness is telling me yes to Stoneskin 2. If it was castable in battle it would be used and abused.
No it's not. As a healer, I hated to recast stoneskin 1 by 1 after every wipe, when people were just standing there waiting to pull, food buff runs out and it adds up on progression. If we had Stoneskin II in combat, that would be completely OP, WHM would only be used to cast Stoneskin II on every single attack, destroying fight intended mechanics. There's no reasoning in your argument. They added it because they listened to us, tired players with SS I. A WHM will casts Stoneskin on everybody anyway, why does it bother you that you/your whm has to only cast it once, instead of 8 (or 9+ if you care of them pets) per pull. It changes nothing in the lore. You're still a White Mage, and still with your stoneskin spell. It even surprised me how you managed to get 2 likes, like wut?
It would be retarded if it were able to be used in battle... There would be no point in sch or their shields... If you could SS the entire party that quick there would be no dealing with huge aoe hits like Gigaflares and teraflare and so on... They did the right thing saving time before pulls and only before pulls.
Sadly I think the OP may have hit the daily post limit, we lost our troll bait
Calling it now, WHM will get a skill/trait in the expansion to allow them to cast it in battle!
awww *puts popcorn down*
Anyway:
- swiftsong... faster movement in combat... would be nice in aoe heavy fights or in dodge heavy fights(imagine titan or levi or even shiva) - not usable in combat
- hide - not usable it combat(it works on trash because there you don't aggro until you actually use a skill - which is probably what you are seeing - it forces you out of it during boss battles)
- stoneskin II - not usable in combat
So 3 combat jobs as you say have one skill that isn't usable in combat. It's not the end of the world.
Hey OP, since you're so crusty they released SS2, go ahead and continue to cast SS on your party members one by one, while the rest of us will enjoy saving time using SS2.
I think it's because if it's in 1 skill, the cast time can be interupted when one is casting the stoneskin (aoe version) if the whm gets emnity when casting, if its a seperate skill, one can manage on to cast which stoneskin suited the best in a fight.. E.g: Nexus farm tank will pull before the cast complete anyway.. It's better that single stonekin is being delivered to the tank rather than nothing at all..
Man I dunno why someone linked that the OP hasn't even beaten Second Coil of Bahamut and only got maybe a couple clears of Turn 5 but it certainly stopped them from posting.
Just another soldiery hero complaining
Looks like I'm late to the party...
Ninjas using Hide in battle..HA. (I know I know...I wanted to add on to the ridiculousness of that anyway, because I can!)
I can see stoneskins not being applied as annoying but in my example wouldn't obtaining aggro just mean the effect is changed to a single target?
Cast, no aggro, finish -> AoE
Cast, aggro during, finish -> Single Target
Cast, aggro from the start, finish -> Still Single Target
I suppose I shouldn't spend too much forum space on such a thing that matters very little but I just think if they ever wanted to make a real stoneskin II it is going to have to be III or a different name lol.
Trait for stoneskin II would be stuck in out of combat occasions, stacking a buff on stoneskin I but not II would make II useless. Definitely can add something to II but it would be QoL only stuff. Can always add another spell name or tier :P
It absolutely blows my mind how anyone would complain about this. SS2 was added for convenience, and as a healer I highly appreciate it. Thank you SE.
Sucks that SCH can't use it... :/
In my static, I do as many SS as the WHM and I love doing it to boot. Disappointing that only my WHM can do it now.
When i heal, if players intentionally run away from me before i can pro/SS everyone, these persons can go F themselves. I aint gonna run after players who doesnt show any consideration for the guy who literally decides if he wants you "alive" or not.
They can die in the corner and understand that if they waited a minute for the buffs they wouldn't be now wasting 5 lying down on the floor regretting it.
( i know im off topic )
Much facepalm. Couldn't read past this one, was entertaining for a while but to be able to answer your own question so obviously without realizing it either means you're the dumbest person alive or an obvious troll. I truly hope for your sake that it's the latter.
This thread is pretty hilarious. I gotta say, though, I would've prefered that SE made the aoe thing part of the Graniteskin trait, rather than making it a seperate skill from Stoneskin.
Cast Stoneskin inside of combat? Behaves as usual.
Cast Stoneskin outside of combat? Applies Stoneskin in an aoe around the target.
Having to allocate hotbar space for an ability that can only be used outside of combat is a pain. Pretty much have to make it part of a macro, instead.
/ac "Stoneskin II" <me>
/ac "Stoneskin" <t>
Well i understand it why they didnt include it as a part of the original SS.
SS1 is like 2.5sec cast time
SS2 is 5.7sec.
They prob thought that we would be overwhelmed by all the time saved if SS2 had a 2.5sec cast time too, so they got the great idea to give it an absurdly long cast time.
And now people dont even wait til i cast it.
And before you bring this, no i wont waste SC at the beginning of a dungeon / primal for SS2.
Individually buffing a full party during progression runs where you spend most of your time wiping gets old fast. Im so glad we finally got this spell :)
You have to keep in mind that this was added purely for pre-engagement convenience, and nothing else. It doesn't matter whether it's its own spell or an added trait, the fact remains that its sole intended purpose is to make the party buffing (before battle) faster. You can still use Stoneskin normally during battle.
What are the alternatives? Removing the time-saving convenience of this spell in the next patch? Making it work during battle? Both of these options are ludicrous, if you ask me.
Your suggestion to make it usable in battle with a very long recast time is interesting, but it would nevertheless make certain mechanics a lot easier through this skill alone. Additionally, it wouldn't solve issues where a very quick wipe happens with the skill still being on cooldown.
Well, then you should be happy with it, because it CAN be cast during battle. That's what the regular Stoneskin is. It's the in-battle version of Stoneskin II. This is just an adaptation of it so that when out of battle you can cast it on everyone at once. In battle, it obviously has to be on one character at a time.
