People play what they want to though. If it was for stats that'd be one thing, but in this game there isn't really any reason to be concerned about the stat differences between races, meaning everyone is just playing what they want to. Besides, I'm sure we'll see a bunch of the new race, at least when it first appears. Doubt it'll shake things up drastically, but who really knows.
I like male miqot'es, which is why I made one.
I will give that they do look a bit funny when they're sprinting, and I do wish that there were more facial hair options other than "peach fuzz". But, I'm guessing they are more akin to many of the popular musicians in Japan when it comes to appearance.
join the hunky Highlander Masterrace.
Well I myself love boy kitties! Which is why my lalafell alt has a harem of them. I have below some fine examples of pedigree ones, I have acquired.

Regardless I love the male miqot'es - which is why my main is one. And he is a beautiful swan princess..

As a female gamer I am very fond of the bishounen, asian look and as such the race ticks all the boxes for me. Lala's of course coming thereafter.

Peope love also Midlanders much more than Highlanders
blame on your character customize skill :P
Uhh, adding more noses and faces wouldn't do anything to packet size. Those variables already take a byte at least (unless SE is doing bitshifting and purposely shrinking their cap) giving a Max of 256 options. This is a dev time issue.
Also a lot of that data is probably cached and isn't updated like appearance data.
I'm just regurgitating what they said about intricate character customization, they were never against adding 1-2 new options, they were against adding in intricate character adjustments. Perhaps they lied, but the last time this came up they said that they wanted to keep the packet data as low as possible and complex character appearance was one of the concerns.
I'd completely agree that it conflicts more with their adamant stance on a certain level of quality and rigidity on the design of the game.
Give players too much freedom and they have a tendency to make things look too odd. FFXIV 1.23 was nice in that it had a very restrictive character creator depending on your race/clan.
We have a lot more customisation this time than we did in 1.23, it's not as expansive as other games, but they development team works differently.
Quality Vs. Quantity rings very strongly here
Within Miqote yes you're right there are many who look similar due to the amount of people who play them but when you branch out I don't remotely see how this game is "attack of the clones".One of its strengths is how unique people can make themselves. If you want to see attack of the clones go play WoW.There is absolutely no customization in that game. I do agree though that this game needs a bit more variety in the face types throughout the races. Not every miqote should have a baby face, not every roe should be hard looking, etc.
Problem with male miqote - it's playable
They are suppose to be rare in a female predominant race...
But then you get this

Point not made. It doesn't pertain to what I was replying to. The person that I quoted said that it made sense for Keepers to be very pale and Seekers to be tanned because Keepers are nocturnal and Seekers are diurnal. If that was the case though, we wouldn't have any Keepers in the dark grey to black color range - they would all be very pale. Even your nocturnal camouflage theory doesn't really hold up because there are many pale Keepers. It seems like the devs just kind of assigned "cool" skin tones to Keepers and "warm" skin tones to Seekers.
I think most of the faces made are ugly of each race it was hard to choose which one because of that reason but not just that.
Reasons..
Some look like they have downs syndrome, some look like young boys face attached to a mans body.
Body movement while running and walking, ELZ male looks stiff while they run like they have to take a crap and running to find a bathroom while butt cheeks are clenched.
I was elvaan male in FFXI and was going to be one here after I seen that I was like no way, even faces of Elz were ugly not much to choose from either its something I would like to see in the future more faces added.
Also fixing the elz male body movement while running or walking cause they are stiff as a board and hands glued to the sides reminds me of the bug glitch in ffxi when the weapon was below you.
I'm more worried about the freakishly long necks and creepy shrunken heads on elezen. They look like those unholy abominations from the Mario Bros. movie.

Though there are ten suffixes listed above, rarely do even the largest Keeper of the Moon families have more than two or three sons. This is not by choice. Nature merely sees to it that more females are born to this race.
press change pose emote and slide the slider down to 0, and you will never see that pose again , problem solved, as for markings they are there to show age difference, for instance the smalest markings are on the baby face one low left, than up left etc etc
Cat people. Serious business.
It may be how the lore is, but it'd be kind of asinine to restrict people based off of lore reasons. It only impacts NPC distribution, and I'd say that it's still in line with the lore then.
Miqo'te population distribution is not as extreme as the Mithra they are modeled off of, yet has stayed valid to the lore for the most part. Mithrans tend to have more of a 13-14:1 ratio of females to males while Miqo'te are more along the lines of 5-7:1. Yes males are "rare" when compared to the sheer number of females, but they aren't so rare that they need to be protected in order to save the race from going extinct (which was sort-of verified during the fanfest that races tend to stick to their own kind for procreation purposes). "But males weren't playable during 1.0!" True, but then again maybe males had no good reason to become adventurers. If life is going swimmingly, stay-at-home males would have the desired outcome and way of life. You can imagine how the Calamity probably uprooted a ton of families and disturbed the traditional ways of life, causing males to pour out of the depths of obscurity to fight for what they believe in (or maybe they have no family left to return to and need a new hobby). My point is that there are lore-specific reasons to explain the sudden appearance of Miqo'te adventurers (and other professions that we are seeing). It wouldn't be fair to compare Miqo'te lore to Mithra lore directly. Yes they share some similarities, but circumstances differ wildly as well as environment. As Plato said, "Necessity is the mother of invention." :D
I'm glad I'm the odd ball, none of that bs is a factor when I pick or change my hairstyle. In my honest opinion, it looks no different from the rest.
Shiobon, I wouldn't say the worst but it's definitely my least favorite. If I use that hairstyle, I.. must.. cut.. highlights.. off..
There were also no female Roegadyns and female Highlanders. It only show how unfinished 1.0 was at launch.
About rarity of Keeper males (Seekers have another family lore), if a average family have 2 sons and there would be around 4000 families, that would be already 8000 sons (fathers and grandpas not included)
That only deals with Keeper of the Moon. Seekers of the Sun do not have that limitation.
Nonetheless, you're making it seem as if having a son is rare than finding a diamond in a pig trough. It isn't; two or three sons in a large family. Last I recall or experience, a large family has a limit to how many children one can produce. I consider 10 children to be a large family. Anymore, and that mother will be world famous.
So if you consider Seekers of the Sun to have equal distribution, and Keeper of the Moon to have a 1:4 disparity in genders (2 in 10 children are male), that's a 5:8 ratio distribution. I.e. a 38.5% rate of male miqo'te being born.
That's not a small rate to have male miqo'te be 'rare'. 'Uncommon' will be the better word to describe it.
Note that I much prefer Seeker of the Sun male miqo'te over Keeper of the Moon. And I see a lot more Seeker of the Sun males prowling around.
Hilarious. And you must think female miqote are interesting, or you wouldn't play one. Simple as that.
