Yeah, that's a common misconception. People in full Warforged, who are pretty rare to being with, are the exception, not the rule. That and people claiming the game is too easy have never bothered doing heroic raiding when it's progression.

There's ZERO reason for me to deal with Atma garbage. I have tons of games I bought and never played on Steam, PS3/PS4/Vita and those game will surely entertain me more than grinding Atma for sure.
This quest line needs to be adjusted. make it hard or challenge or whatever but not a grind fest like this.
I Think its funny that some really seem to quit over a new added feature... what about, not doing it, if you dont like it?
Wanna see it the competitive way? MMORPGs like FFXIV are not even competitive in ANY way.. why would you quit, because people get the best equip trough hunts, and you wont do it, because you dont like it? It makes no sense at all to quit because of a new feature like the Hunts, especially if it only takes like 2 Month, until hunts are worthless, because they wont add the next best gear (at least not for a long time) to it anyways... people really have some weird reasons to quit..
I killed a level 80 with a level 60 death knight he was on a flying mount he came down and I murdered him, I was doing a quest to pickup the gears are laying all over the ground before he started to mess with me.
After I destroyed him he went to get his alliance pals so I took off to a outpost where a lot of my alliance was hanging out which my cousin showed me and those 3-4 guys who chased me got wiped out.
I can say this though pvp in warcraft was fun.
At this point I don't expect people to be able to read properly, but give it a bit of effort and compare the posts in the first three pages to your example. People here bash you for giving feedback, they don't stop at just disagreeing, those people are the ones I'm calling white knights, the ones that jump to defend SE's poor actions and try to stop others from giving feedback, comments like "if you don't like it just quit" won't help the game grow.
Any suggestion or feedback is disregarded as whining, wanting hand-outs or wanting stuff with no effort. If only people could stop and read the suggestions... Oh wait, they are incapable of reading properly.
There are certain things I wish it can be fix but these things are just my own opinion.
I wish we could "Try On" multiple armors/weapons when viewing the Market Board. Apparently if it is just me but so far we can only Try On one item at a time, and we could only view the item as a whole if it's bought or equipped.
Anywho, on topic - I just pace myself, and I have a lot of fun, and if I get bored; I go off and play a different game. Although I do have a routine that I make sure I get done before I do head on and play another game in the mean time. Try it, it will ease your grinding mind.
some things I can see
Top end gear has no meaning given out like candy
Inconsistency from developers, No sands in Syrcus Tower but unlimited sands from hunts does not give a clear direction of the game ot the players. Field craft materia needed for gathering a non crafting class needs to rely heavily on there own crafting or pay out the butt for a small upgrade 5 ilevels. Not consistent
Vanity is harder to get than most end game gear
Most everything has little to no point, desynth is a big time sink or gil sink depending on how you do it for vanity gear.
over reliance on RNG, deysnth is rng on top of rng fishing is rng on top of rng.
Everything is added in as a put in now fix later, battle grounds would be a good example, ramuh being DOA because the gear is under leveled.
It's not all bashing. You're making it a bigger deal than it actually is.
You want to speak about reality ? How about you stop being hypocritical, stop using said hyperbole and acknowledge that people defending their opinions like that are on both end of the spectrum.
at first i didn't like the idea of atma and i tried many times to get some for hours, after i got 1 atma i quit the farming.
later.... i faced the truth that there is no use of complaining about it after seeing many of my fc mates and friend have gotten their animus weapons, and when its come the luck of drop i can be the worst for sure " he doesn't have any coil gear yet and yes i started from few weeks not months and i don't have any problems with it"
the atma got my real long time but now im ready for the new step in 2.38 ;)
i wonder if the players who didn't like the atma and still complaining about what will they say when they start the animus books when they face the truth later ...cuz for real i like the atma more than animus work after finishing the animus.
The reason I quit just before 2.1 came out was the lack of content. My friends and I started in September of 2013, and we basically completed all the content available. With nothing but a gear grind for other classes to do. We decided to go elsewhere until just about 2 months ago.
We didn't grind out the game. We were just good at what we did and worked together (3-4 of us online at a time, each playing complimentary roles, meaning when all four of us were online, we could form group and drop premade into a dungeon and clear it in 20 min).
You won't get many responses to this. I've said many times in other threads that the Atma grind should be fun, take as long or longer than it does now. But it should be fun. Basically a Developer should always ask themselves the following question:
"Would people do this with no reward at the end?"
If the answer is yes. Add that content.
If the answer is no. Rework it to be fun.
Make it just like the content in games back in the '80s. You didn't get gear at the end of World 1-1 or 1-4 in Super Mario Bros. Success meant you could play the next level. Completing the content was its own reward. Content-based games need to make a come back. Reward-based games need to take a backstage. This isn't an issue limited to FFXIV obviously. SE is very accustomed to making games where gear is a tool to complete content, rather than a reward.
To be honest I think the only immediate change that would improve the game experience for me would to actually diversify the existing jobs and adding a support role to the game rather than the 3 role system we currently have.
With the current system nobody's job within the same role tier differs (With the exception of White Mage and Scholar who are allotted different responsibilities in 8 man content). The DPS 5 classes all play the same at a fundamental level, the only difference is what buttons you're pressing to accomplish it but your responsibilities or your goals never differ from the guy next to you in any meaningful ways.
Of course this goes against Yoshi P's design philosophy that every job needs to be capable of performing equally in the same content no matter what. All this ends up doing (In my opinion) is create boring party structures. It's true that when you actually add different traits to the DPS classes that go beyond simple rotational changes or damage spikes you might see certain jobs not being preferred in certain content - but this sort of exclusion is already present in the game so it's irrelevant.
Guess the majority of people that have issues with the 2 hour waits for a fate or something similar never played EQ and sat for 18 plus hours to kill 1 mob for a part of a quest....it was the Jboots quest if anyone was around for it.
I enjoy the game, I don't think it was for casual, but its not for the super hard core have nothing to do with their lives people either...this was a game for the people that enjoy final fantasy.
I am not holding me breathe about it anymore to be honest. We get a relic update every time we turn around, Atma is still a tedium.
I just can't commit to it like others do, it's dreadfully boring...I'd like an alternative + FATE farming. They shove FATE's in your face too much in my opinion.
I'm always in for more variety, paths, choices etc.
I played EQ, and it wasn't fun sitting there waiting for a spawn. Not a bit.
The only reason SOE (989/Verant) did it like that was because they simply didn't know how to develop content properly for hundreds of players in a single area. You have to remember that UO and EQ were the two first AAA MMORPGs out back then. It was new territory. A multiplayer game up to that point was usually 2-4 players. Not 400-600 or more.
If you look at EQ2, alot of that has gone away. Many named encounters are up within 10-20 minutes IF they aren't in instances. And EQN is going to take an entirely new take on it.
I don't think FATEs in themselves are bad. Like when I was doing the story quest, I did FATEs as they came up when I was running from point A to B. I didn't sit around grinding them out, nor did I wait for an hour or longer for a specific one. When FATEs were first developed, I think they were meant to be along the way as you traveled like that. Not something you went around for a few hours doing, or waiting to spawn.
I don't know what made them use them for the purpose they are now. I really don't. They don't really work for that. As I said, as a side thing, FATEs are really cool to do. When you got to do 500 of them for a quest over 10-13 hours... that's bad. And I mean really bad. As you said it gets nauseatingly boring.
The fact that it takes 10-13 hours (of pure uninterrupted grinding) for Atma doesn't bother me. It really doesn't. What bothers me is you do this on a class that is Level 50. Most of the FATEs are well below the level. You're not getting a challenge. I mean if you can do one FATE, you can do five of them, you can do ten, or twenty, or a hundred, or a thousand. So why is there a Grind for it?
At least with the Relic Weapon initially we had to fight Hydra, Chimera, Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan. Those fights, especially pre-2.1, were actually a challenge. There were some people actually 'stuck' on some parts. So why don't we use some of these new shiny fights instead? Why can't the Atma require Ramuh, King Mog, Leviathan, and Ultima(Hard) instead? Or their extreme versions?
I just don't understand why I have to do Hardmode Primals to get the relic. Some (at the time) level 50 dungeons to get the +1 (Zenith). And then to get the Atma, we have to fategrind in a 1-10 area? No.. that doesn't make any sense. We want a challenge, and we want to have fun doing it.
Game needs:
Harder Open world content requires players to team up. Everything being solo'd causes patches to be completed within 6hr-2 days.
Something to keep players busy when all content is cleared. Tetra Master etc.
Longer Term Content/Objectives. Dynamis Zone etc.
More In Depth designed content. Chocobo Dying is too simple and doesn't require any breeding complex system etc.
More Casual/Fun Content that player can do dally. Random Appearing Quest. Like the Lightning Event where a new quest would appear every 2 days. They need to do this with alot more quests and put it on a cycle. Doing this will not make content rushed and finished. Only attach this to normal quests, like for minions or gil etc.
A More Complex Battle system This game could use more actions, debuffs, illness. etc.
Players don't want to do brainless tasks all the time. It gets boring fast. Crafting, Combat, Gathering.
Theres far too much brainless tasks & challenges in this game.
How many of the people complaining they don't have a static have actually tried to put one together themselves instead of waiting around for someone to pick them up? Everyone I've talked to who complains about not having a static says they're not cut out for leading a raid or some other excuse. But just because you put the effort into finding people for a static doesn't mean you have to order everyone around. It's a group effort.
I've been playing since the beginning, but I started raiding late--in January--and I went with my few FC mates and we had to pug tanks. We had a lot of fun doing it and made friends through the people we pugged. Then the rest didn't show much interest in putting a lot of time into T5, but by this point I was really enjoying raiding and was determined to learn and down T5. So I pugged it. A lot. As I made more progress I would make stricter PF groups so I could find people with my same lvl of progression. My friend and I finally cleared it before 2.2 after working with the same pug for hours and we stayed with that group into SCoB. We made it to T8 fairly quickly, but by then we were losing members and our personalities were clashing so we broke it off and I put together a new group finding people through PF. Within a week we had 5 new people, the 3 of us from the old group relearned the content with them and we made it to T9... until the personality clash happened and the group broke off again. Raiding is rough. It's a lot of hours and a lot of frustration. Finally 4 of us hooked up with 4 others we knew through connections who were also on T9, lost two members, gained two more, persevered and finally downed T9. Now we have all turns on farm and plan to stick together for 2.4.
TLDR: I didn't have my static handed to me. I didn't wait around for someone to invite me. I worked my ass off, made connections, and kept at it instead of whining and ragequitting. Raiding is not for everyone. And it's not fair to the people who enjoy the challenge to ask SE to make it easier. Because then we have no difficult content.
The only thing that's pissing me off right now is Novus. I have two characters, got Animus on both (blm & drg), but now I can't finish my Novus because I need Det IVs for both of them and they're 400k each. I wasn't even upset about this until SE thought it was a good idea to change how Spiritbonding works, so now I can't even get guaranteed IVs from i70 gear. It's not a big deal because there are two other options for weapons that are easier obtained, but the Relic is... our Relic! It's our special weapon that will continue to be upgraded and has job significance (I miss using my Gae Bolg). When I first got it and had to down Titan HM in Darklight gear it felt like such an accomplishment. But now it's just grind and not fun anymore. It's such a lazy, monotonous approach by SE.
But most importantly, all I want right now to improve my gaming experience is more emotes and better vanity options. This is important!
Nobody is asking to have things handed to them. Some of us don't have schedules conducive to statics. I just think there should be alternate methods of obtaining the same items, not just lesser "equivalents". Novus is reasonable, except for the gil sink, but at least you can overcome a gil sink without having to have 7 other people "team jump-roping".
Many players also just lack the patience. My guild currently has 5 statics, and we're forming our 6th static. With formation of all of the statics, we've run into the exact same problems repeatedly.
Players being too impatient to wait for the static formation. They join us, looking for a static. After about 2 weeks there's no full group yet, as finding a last tank or healer may be troublesome. They end up leaving the FC and go look elsewhere. Three weeks later, the static is up and running, going through it's first content. What do we see? The player who left is still up in party finder or on the community forums, looking for a static. Even though (s)he could have been part of one, it is their impatience which caused them to miss out.
The impatience can also be seen on those who join last, or even those who stick around. They face the reality of a new group to content not one-shotting turn 6, not one-shotting turn 7. And they decide to leave. As progression this way is not in accordance to their level of expectation. Even if they themselves are making just about as many mistakes. And what do we see? Once the newly formed static is hitting turn 8 or turn 9, we still see these players looking for a new static.
But of course such impatience is nothing new in MMO's. It's been increasingly present over the past few years. And is unlikely to change any time soon.
Problem
Vertical Gear Progression
Solution:
<-------Gear Progression------->
if you can play something like 2/3 hours a day because of work, or whatever, you focus less on doing daily roulette/beast tribe/hunts, and focus more on raiding/ex primals/whatever endgame best suits you.
it's not like you can open a PF looking for a static that has the same playtime while you do other things...
You can't use PF half the time, and obviously I know how to use PF to find a static. My hours are not consistent. Sorry I am not sitting in PF while hunting or doing ID/Trials. Tbh why should I have to have a static anyway? Why is that the epitome of gaming?
Sometimes a lack of patience isn't due to what you think it is. Many static groups require members to be in their Free Company. All of the groups that I have talked with in my own search has been this way. The problem? I'm already IN a Free Company that I'm not interested in leaving, as much as I would like to get the content done. Final Fantasy has this unique aspect about it that wasn't really present in other mmos, and unfortunately, I'm a victim of that "family" mentality as well. In WoW? I hopped guilds all day long to get where I wanted to be. Here? It's a little more complicated due to the nature of the game.
It's not a good thing, not a bad thing, just one of those things that *is*. So what you see as impatience could be due to a person wanting to get back into their *home*, so to speak, because you required that they leave it in order to be in your static group. This problem didn't happen in XI because we could hold multiple linkshells and linkshells were all that was available. Now, we have to make hard choices and it's other players that are forcing that.
For me, I'm sticking with my FC and if I manage to find a static that doesn't require me to join theirs, great. If not, that's ok too. Just remember there's any number of reasons someone might drop out of your static after 2-3 weeks of nothing happening, and it's probably not what you think it is.
Then to be frank you haven't been asking particularly nice people to static up. I finally got my Turn 5 clear last weekend (and then went back in to kill it two more times) and one of the guys I won with invited me to an LS. A couple days later he asked me to fill in a hole in his static and suddenly here I am with a T6 kill and having seen Melusine fall to 29% HP. He did ask me to join his FC but I said I was already part of one and he was totally fine with that.
You mean the best gear should go to the people who are talented and dedicated enough to clear the hardest content in the game? Knock me over with a feather, what an ABSURD concept!
And no, you haven't put "FAR more effort into the game". I spent MONTHS learning and finally, FINALLY managing to take down Twintania. Before I did I'd already gathered a group of five others who shared my goal of reaching or even beating Turn 9 before patch 2.4 hits. And I've put in hours upon hours of effort in just the past week alone struggling to learn and understand Melusine so we can take her down. (T8 is gonna feel like such a cakewalk after all that bullshit with her melee adds...)
You haven't really told me anything I didn't already know, though I appreciate your reply. In fact, I think the XIV community is one of the worst I've seen in well over a decade of MMO gaming. Look at the fight in this very thread, on this very page. Absolutely infantile.
I didn't think this thread could devolve based on where it started....Man, was I proven wrong.
People that SCoB since 2.2 have literally nothing to do in 2.3 & Weekly lockout killed it fir both Static/pug.
Statics 1 shotting reduces the longevity of the game but also stops you from playing with others.
Pugs will eventually be plagued with the people you dont want in Statics cause theyre an ass welcoming all first timers.
All the good people whether for skill or personality will form their own Static.
Every time I make a PF asking for clear exp and a bonus 100 myth pops up, I swear people would stand there for 5+mins witch hunting before starting & threatening people(T6-7).
SE could easily make coil like crystal tower but theyre deliberately screwing us over. Friends cant join/help, longer PF times, have people that are too scared to even do SCoB cause practice parties either takes too long or never fills.
I could go on forever in regards to this, I know a few people that havent even done t6 and have been playing since Beta...
People clearly tend to state that they're leaving due to the formation taking more time than they expected, or the progression taking more time than they expected.
Asides from that, the choice to have people be a part of the FC is most often a logistical issue. Communication gets really troublesome if not all players are part of the same channel. If raiders cannot make use of the FC buffs because they're not part of the FC, etc. It is a shame in that sense that SE decided to separate LS's and FC's. Rather than allow people to be a part of multiple FC's at the same time as e.g. GW2's system. Allowing for players to be part of a raiding FC, social FC, whatever FC if they wish at the same time.
On the same hand though, there's also plenty of linkshell statics for single group statics around. Even from players who go down that path, there's often still those who leave prior to the formation or without giving it a good amount of attempts as they keep on seeking faster progression. And such linkshell statics go perfectly hand-in-hand with being in different FC's.
Oh snap! The HA weapon that I got equipped now is i115 and not i110. How nice for you to enlighten me on that. You clearly need to look up the meaning of double entendre. Here I'll do it for you
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_entendre
The real issue is simple. You just need to look into a mirror.
you either do Trials, or you clear Binding Coil.
you can't do both.
you need to sort your priorities.
nobody said you NEED a static.
nobody stops you from trying Coil with pugs.
but nobody can guarantee you will clear it this way.
if your playtime it's so random and you can't wait to a party finder to fill, I'm afraid but endgame it's not for you.
you can still get ilv110 gear while doing hunt, so what's the problem.
edit: oh, you want an Ilv115 weapon?
for what, if you don't have the time to do coil?
you need to kill the S rank faster?
just wait till next patch, you will probably be able to get every weapon to 115 without a single effort.
still no problem.
