I like the atma as is. And no I don't have one yet. People are complaining that they have nothing to do. Well here is your answer!

Just out of curiosity, how many people here know about the Japanese Time Zone and Atma drop theory? Google it.
According to the theory, each zone has a specific time where Atma drops are more frequent. Lots of people are reporting that the theory is solid, making the grind much less of a pain.
There is nothing "not casual" about the Zodiac quest line, if you like hardcore punishment you are probably in your element though.
It's amusing to see so many people saying "oh no what will we do without you" etc, part of me hopes a huge portions of players will leave and put you F'ers in your places and the game fails again.
BUT .. considering as I enjoy this game I hope that doesn't happen, but SE do need to listen before it turns a lot of "Casual" players away.
I don't consider myself casual and spent years of playing games like EQ and FF11 were grind was the standard and I don't think that in this generation it is welcomed by many.. at least any who have lives outside of the game.
Sorry that you have been disappointed.
The game plays beautifully for the most part up until end game, imo.. except that they rocket you up there very quickly.
End game follows the theme park format with focus on farming tomes (Farmville... you could be farming vegetables or candy or anything else... doesn't matter... it's just farming).
Unfortunately, they can't produce new theme park rides fast enough, so they are rehashing content, recycling, and repeating in the extreme. There is coil 2 and some extreme rehashed content for the raiders/ skill based challenge folks- everything else is repeating the same scripted content ad nauseam. It's a shame, because after the great story... it really does become a hub game that feels like a re-skinned WoW.
Then they combined the worst of all worlds to rehash FATES, ad nauseam, to farm, with extreme RNG.
The re-done game was fabulous. Unfortunately, the "new" stuff is just awful, imo and it saddens me greatly. Taking a break is a good idea... unfortunately, the further they get from the original content - and more "new" rehashed stuff they do... you might notice instead of wanting to come back... you just become more and more happy you left.
dont let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya
Every business has that customer that always complains with the favorite phrase "OMG you don't listen or care about your customers, I'm never giving you my business again" Then come back in a month or a week and do the same thing all over again.
It is all just "Look at me"
Or it's completely random and people like to find patterns in randomness. It was never a real theory. Just a hypothesis posited on a blog that someone found, posted to reddit, and people assumed was true. It was not tested in any way that could qualify the hypothesis as actually true. The only reason people are doing it is because it came from someone who spoke Japanese. Every single person is just using this as some justification for why they got a drop because somehow the Japanese are smarter so this random blog post must be true!
If following this "theory" helps you feel better about it then by all means continue, but it does not work that way. It is random. Many people in my FC have done exactly as described and got NO drops in the times specified. It's random. This "theory" needs to die.
What does this have to do with hardcore? Do hardcore players enjoy rolling a 100 sided dice for hours and hours hoping to score 95+? Does me saying I do not like this say something negative about me as a player?
The atma quests was ridiculous. Took me 13 hours to get my 1st atma....
Look at the relic quest, that's the best quest in any game I have ever played. It was really hard, and I had to develop so much as a player. I learned ALOT getting my relic. The fact that SE made the continuation of this great quest the most mind numbing skill-less trash of a quest in any current game says a lot about how much effort and time they are putting into ARR.Why not have it something like: Clear all extreme primals, clear coil 1-5? sure, some people would have had it on day 1, and well deserved, but it would give such great incentive for others not yet capable of clearing these hard dungeons to go forth and challenge and learn them.
I'm really happy they are reviewing the next part of this tragically bad quest, and do hope they do better next time. The atma quest is the kind of crap I expect in crappy F2P games where instead of meaningful content, that is time consuming and fun, they have shameless timesinks. Atma quest doesn't even try to hide the fact that it's a timesink, given maybe 5 seconds of a developers time to create.
wow... really?
So you are saying that no matter what, if people whine on the forums for 5 weeks straight, content should be changed to benefit the whiners. What happens if after it is changed the people that had no problem with it to begin with then took to the forums to whine and complain about it being changed, by your logic, they would then need to change it back. This game would ultimately just become centered around those that could just whine the loudest and the longest.
Taken from Yoshi-P's GDC talk..

So the short answer is a resounding yes.
There was also a power point at that gcd talk stating: " if it's not fun, you are doing it wrong".
As a Canadian, I always laugh at the second slide. So where do we go?
The thing is, there are people yelling in the forums on both sides of the fence, this isn't a case of everyone in agreement that Atma sucks. Heck, just look in this thread and there are people saying it's fine.
I don't argue against atma design as a threat to quit or "move to Canada", I genuinely would like to see the game avoid presenting goals to us which involve brainless rng timesinks.
Yes because to me the current Atma takes as much if not less time for many that had issues getting the relic weapon when it was released.
Relic: Get "broken weapon", craft and meld weapon, kill chimera, do Admador Keep, kill beastmen, kill Hydra, do primal hard modes, purchase item in Mhor Dona.
Atma: Get 12 atma pieces through fate
Doing the Relic Reborn quest consisted in the luck of getting that materia if you were doing it yourself. Unless you had the money to buy the materia and offering the crafters fee which back then wasn't as simple as doing it now due to the various and elaborate additional means of making gil.
Zenith: 3x Thavnairian Mist. (Myth capped at 300 per week)
Animus: Buy book, complete the books pre-requisites, rinse and repeat.
So it ends up being subjective because from my point of view the overall process isn't as "free" as you make it out to be.
I'd agree to the fact that there needs to be alternatives that don't revolve around low drop rates. Yet I don't agree with your tantrum. If you don't want to spend the time and effort like everyone else then you have no right to complain that others have it because they did in fact spend the time and effort to finish it unlike you.
Agree. Can't speak for that part after u get ur Atma. But Atma farming is the worst idea ever & its cause of having to kill low level Fates. I wouldn't of mind farming anything but fates to get my Atma. I really do hate Fates & from what i can see I'm not the only one. It's not engaging & takes no skill at all. I'm not gonna quit FF14 over this cause I'm a player that always wants the best gear just for me to look at & see all the hard work i put into to get it. But this kind of farming is the worst. I would prefer Farming anything else but stupid fates.
If they had it so mobs under different Beast Family's drop the Atma that are related to the name of that Atma.
Mobs could be at different levels, that would be more interesting & u could still keep it being RNG. They could even have some of the atma drop from mobs in dungeons, i hate the dungeons right now cause there not opened for you to go inside by ur self but even that would still be cool.
Fact - The whole game does NOT ride on ATMA.
Let the RNG people have their RNG. As much as I hate gambling and disapprove of casinos, it is folly to ban them. ATMA RNG is the same way. I don't like RNG timesinks either, but let those people that like it enjoy it. Quit telling them how they like to play. You do NOT need ATMA.
People will naturally want atma. They have fond memories of their relic quest, even an attachment to their relic, for how it looks or whatever. For most people it means a lot to them, due to the hard work involved in getting it, spending a week at titan etc... Can agree people do not need to upgrade it, there are other options, but I think this is more than just a weapon upgrade, psychologically...
It's true the game doesn't ride on atma, but one good thing that may come from our constant forum complaint spewings, is that maybe Yoshi will listen and not implement something as absurd as atma again in the future. I actually hate bad mouthing this game in any way, as I really do love it, but hopefully there wont be such a stumble as atma again.
I find it ironic that the same kind of "see you later- you want everything easy - no one will miss you" posts happened in 1.0.
We all saw how that worked out.
People that make those kinds of posts can't sustain a game by themselves... and they provide zero positive impact for change or community relations.
If ya don't like the crazy ATMA grind, just don't do it. That's what I'm doing. The amount of effort and care I have for getting myself an ATMA is zero. You can still do other things. If all you focus on is downing everything the game offers, and raising your iLVL as fast as possible, you need to rethink your gaming life. This isn't about casual vs hardcore; this is about your luck vs RNG. If your luck sucks and it frustrates you, and you don't want to spend mroe time grinding out FATEs, just don't do it. Go murder some innocent sheep in the wild instead.
This right here. The issue I have is the topic is all mixed opinion on these forums, every thread has ppl from both sides.
It's why I can't take anyone that states "Majority, Minority" in their posts seriously. Then you have the few that decide making one thread isn't enough, so they make more all with the same exact opinion as the first thread.
All I read is "I didn't get my atma weapon in the first few days even though I have i90 gear and beat a few EX primals (if any). Because other people got lucky and I can't wait another few weeks for 2.28 because I am programed to be an impatient wuss, I am feigning my account suspension in protest".
I'm going to come on loadstone. Everyday. And check your account activity. Heres to seeing you don't loggin for a few months to prove you really quit. I'll be sure to update this thread with my findings.
It should be on a list of priorities.
In another words.
We don't see a "Mod/Dev" specific thread that state a list of concerns that need to be attended and looked into.
In that thread we can see a list of concerns brought up by the community.
Where we get the mods to ask questions and share our visions to the dev team on our behalf.
While we wont get answers immediately hopefully they can work a schedule were at least a couple of questions can get answered weekly.
So we end up with a thread where Mods ask on our behalf and Devs answer.
Keep in mind that these are examples and probabilities of what to expect.
Sadly though we have very little communication between us, the mods, and the dev team. Which makes me sad since an approach like this would literally filter a lot of questions from being repeated constantly during Live Letter questionnaires.Quote:
Mod Q: Concerns about open world content. Zones with strong mobs which have specific rewards for what is done in these zones and has no reliance on FATEs. Potential Ballistas events as well?
Developer A: We are looking into how to develop and approach this. Will be a long running project and we'll give a response within 3 months on how it's going and lay a roadmap.
Mod Q: Concerns regarding Egi
Developer A: Some people may not like the Egi and how Summoners are designed. This is our current approach and we apologize to those that don't get that nostalgic feeling from our take on Summoner. In future levels we may attend to this but for now Summoner stays as is.
Mod Q: Concerns regarding the Limit Break system.
Developer A: We understand some of the concerns and there's many passionate responses to this. The Limit Break system may potentially evolve over time. We may look into cross party combination Limit Breaks for Alliances but there wont be any implementation on it at this time we will see if it gets brought into the expansion.
They aren't going to do anything about RNG. They keep adding more RNG into the game in every single aspect. Obviously, their idea of "good gameplay" is making everything diceroll-based. I guess people who like actually having some remote semblance of control over their own playing are just not the target audience for this game.
