I rather do miss things like this from EQ...

Can't be hardcore in this game Too many "Gates"
Monday Cap myth and clear EX primals
Tuesday Clear Coil 1-5
-Everyone logs off for the week-
left with a skeleton crew online and just log in to grind PvP
(only MMO I know of that its really this dead on the weekend)
The myth cap isn't the problem. The myth system itself is the problem. Giving away free gear for farming WP And AK and Castrum...
They need to remove the whole thing and make Myth Gear obtainable from Tokens on Extreme Mode Primals and BCB.
The way myth works, they might as well just put the gear in a vendor and charge millions for it, same concept. Farm for tokens or farm for gil, tokens could be seen as currency.
Not in any game I've ever seen could you run low end content to get high end gear as good as what drops in the top tier raid.
No cap ? Hardcore players are complaining about too little content, how do you think it will look without a cap ?
Even people that don't play too much, would have full Myth gear and wouldn't have much to do anymore....
The game would be empty, cause everyone maxing out at least one job, and the hardcore players having BIS for 3+ jobs.....
Not saying a cap is the best solution, but you can't just remove it.
Removing the cap from this game would just expose the truth about this game.
When people stop playing a game because they have all their gear it's not because they have all their gear. It's because there is nothing worth doing once they have all their gear. The game isn't fun, it's an mmo grind just like all the past mmo grinds. At least in wow we had PVP servers and pvp zones like Wintegrasp, and battle grounds to participate in.
TBH, this game is reminding me that I really just don't enjoy this anymore. There's no sense of danger anywhere except maybe turn 5. There is no method in the game to be creative except maybe the dye system but then they don't enable the dye system on the gear you will spend 99% of your time wearing. The crafting system is nice, but there is nothing worth crafting aside from food. Sure you can craft furniture, but it's for a house no one can afford to buy. And even then houses serve no functional purpose other than big bragging right trophys.
The myth cap is just to string players along because it creates something they'll miss out on if they leave now. If there is no myth cap, they'll leave now and come back later.
Game too easy?
Stop doing it with statics. Start pug-ing it.
This is the real extreme mode.
I stick around because I want this game to succeed. FF7 was one of my first RPG's on PS1 and was awesome. And FFXI was my First MMORPG and I have such fond memories of that game. But here in FFXIV.... I don't know what SE is doing but it's going in the wrong direction for me.
I had Faith in SE to make a game outside the norm when it comes to MMO's. But all they've proven to me so far is they just want to be a success, and are to scared to take a Risk, so are going with a path they think will be enough to be profitable, as such are following Wow, GW2, etc because Wow was sucessful.
Sad truth today in Triple A Game studies... Is that they reuse the same cookie cutter designs because they are to scared to be innovative. Because trying to be innovative comes at the huge risk of it being a failure. On the flip side though, true original innovation leads to the most success that can possibly be obtained. And what the player base truly desires is True innovation. We want a game that blows our socks off and makes us go "WOW, OMg, that was soooo much fun" and not be able to put it down for 16 hours straight.
I'm really getting tired of being hyped up beyond oblivion, suckered into spending 40+ dollars on a game, and then let down.
Do you want Lock outs.... or do you want 1% drop rates.... ? Id much rather log in, do the content I want, and progress in some way, then do something else i want to progress, and move on. I dont enjoy doing the same exact thing for 6 months every SINGLE day, and STILL not have the drop i want. You dont want lock outs? then prepare to have the drop rates of chests filled with 9 diff items at the % of the Nightmare mount... But then ppl with moan about that too.
Coil is rediculous on LOOT. You can only run the Turns 1 time per week and if your loot does not come up...sorry...please come back and play some more next week...how stupid. I know people that have been running this since the beginning of the game almost and still cannot get the Healer piece they need. It is enough already with the holding players back. This is why I am in no rush to run Coils at the moment.
WoW raids were one time a week lockout during WotLK as well. I do not know why people like you are complaining. Spoiled? You are already getting the weekly/daily rewards from spamming dungeons just like WoW's dungeon system, and the raid locks out in a week just like it does or did in WoW when I played it. I do not see why people have become even more whiny about it.
If you have a group that consistently clears t1 thru t5 each week, that means that the party is guaranteed 8 drops for the 8 people.
This is WAY better than spamming the same content 10 times in the same week for 8 people to witness 8 chests drop 1 item each, but only 10% of the time.
Dark Matter, anybody?
if i wanted to play wow, i would've played wow. :)
yeah this argument would be relevant 2 months ago. but not anymore. too many people are stuck with nothing to do after clearing coil/capping myth now. its no longer a vocal minority that's complaining about this. on another note. andddd of course sometime u dont get anything because none of ur class items dropped that week. wheee!!
I play every night. The cap is fine. Learn to pace yourself, play other games in the meantime. If I don't get to play one night, I don't even to feel like I left behind. As long as I cap my myth and do some CT I'm getting somewhere. You guys think that the majority of players are hardcore....it's not :/ I'm sorry to break it to you.
Also, any content, no matter if SE TRIPLED their staff, would get burned through by you guys. If you're playing 15 hours a day there's no way any developer could: plan, draw, render, balance, test enough dungeons for you guys....you're insatiable. This whole conversation is a waste of your time.
Trust me, there is a reason why these people are game designers and you are a GD hero. They know what their player base is doing (outside of the 1% of people who visit this VILE forum) and if they need to make a change, they will...but they don't. If they take away the lock out you'll burn through content, so the other thing they can do is 1% drop-rates which nobody is gonna pay monthly for.
I will, however, agree that CT's lock-out style is better than Coil's
I am not saying WoW's system is a good thing. I am completely against the whole Myth/welfare system. But people are asking for an even more CASUAL system. That is just asking for too much if you ask me. Should be scrapped and just have Coil and DL gear (primal ex loot) only.
funny. a lot of people have a job and play this game a few hours when they get back like me. and people like me actually figure out how to get things done efficiently with the limited amount of game time. :3 just saying. the amount of people running around in full ilvl 90 in game is just... well u can just see for urself lol
No... actually it doesnt say hello.... because at the end of the day you are STILL 100% guaranteed "something" for a job.... Youre STILL getting 8 actually real gear drops every single week.
Coil would say "hello" If you had a 1% chance of getting ANY gear, and only got crafting material 99% of the other times... or better yet... a Fire Crystal :-\
Try doing Salvage 7 days a week, and no drop for ANYONE in 3 months...
It would be like doing Dynamis.. .and not getting any AF the entire run.
I never really said it did. Dude idk I think you read my comment wrong all I know is that lock outs are staying and that's that. If you have "limited" time (but still enough time to get all classes to 50) and still say that you hate lockouts then your time isn't really that limited. And then again, my 2nd part still stands: only counterracts are to completely remove it (you'll burn through content in a week, no way SE could keep up) or they do .001% droprates (outdated-inefficient progression path. doesn't work in 2014)
And that's the problem with you people, you wanna take away the lockouts but NONE of you have proposed what to do AFTER they take away lockouts. If there were no lockouts then you would have been i90 in august, dude. There's NOTHING that could be done once they're gone. You're not thinking critically at all, you're just speaking like a child "i want i want" but you have ZERO idea of what the recourse is. Kinda like how "FATES TAKE OVER THIS GAME" *fates EXP is lowered relatively* "NO ONE IS IN THE OPEN WORLD"
Once again. You're a GD hero, Yoshi is a salaried developer. No your role.
yeah, but do u always get the loot? :) 14 weeks no bard feet here. i got the hands tho, just the hands :3. feels very familiar with rng % drops.
uh. there are 7 other people in the party? with multiple sub classes too? hello?
Yes, which means if everyone has every class, everybody gains an average of 1 drop a week. If someone doesn't get a drop, someone else is getting 2.
It averages out to 1 per person, per week.
Based on your argument that coil should be repeatable, you would be looking at the rebalancing of this mechanic causing the current 100% droprate being reduced, probably significantly.
This idea may have been brought up before but how about instead of a hard cap on myth points each week there is a diminishing return on any myth received once you hit a soft cap.
oookay then. if u guys think that lockouts are good for the game then i guess more power to u. personally i think its just a weak mechanic put into the game and under utilizes the ability of being able to level every class. i have 7 other classes with just i70 equips for the past 3 months. so much for being able to play as everything on one character eh?
So you are judging this based on 2 raids that both provide you with the average of 1 drop a week as barring you from content?
You know, let's ignore for a moment, the fact that you can get (on average) 2 items a week from raids, and an average of another item a week from mythology tomes.
Seeing that a competent player can do pretty much anything in 2.1 using only philosophy-purchased gear(darklight, crafted i70, relic) and infinite droprate content (ulima HM, EX primal accessories), your point is moot.
Let's go one step further and assume you have all the time in the world to get items from current content.
In 1 week you are not barred from earning:
- i80 relics for every job
- 3 i90 and 2 i80 accessories for every job
- i70 DL or crafted gear for every job to fill all other slots.
- 1 new i90 myth piece (or half of a body, pants, zenith)
- 1 new i80 CT piece
- 1 new i90 EX weapon
- Avg. 1 new i90 Coil piece
Now seriously, what are you whining about, again?
Considering this post is about removing the Myth limit and I just pointed out that there are people 100% Myth geared without a single EX Primal or Allagan piece means that there is plenty of gear coming from the myth vendor in the amount of time this game has been launched as 2.0
If you're 100% Myth geared you're i90, your options for upgrades at that point are extremely minimal and are honestly better served going towards your alts.
So lookit that... Your alts are being geared with i80/90 stuff now!
Hey I resent that statement! My group cleared T4 of Coil in the first week of release and we did it in i70 with NQ relics on the whole team! I did it again this week on my alt to help out some friends (in full i70 as a BLM with an NQ relic and a demagogue ring too!)
Quit being bad!
well if u guys were paying attention, my argument is more towards the whole lockout model rather than just primarily the myth cap. i could have necroposted in the other lockout complaint threads but hey this was on the front page.
maybe ur just too good.
You cannot have a sustainable MMO without gating. Full stop. If you play MMOs it's something you're going to have to get used to. As people have explained here (with numbers!) you have things pretty darn good here compared to most AAA MMOs where the primary gating mechanism is the RNG combined with limited amount of loot distributed amongst a large group of players.
