The only thing that is hard to understand is that if GLA unlocks Paladin, does that paladin automatically learn cure spells and raise? or do they have to acquire them from leveling up CON?

Yea right now it's only 1-1 class/job. However, I am hoping with the introduction of new jobs, maybe we will see a multiple jobs per class. But that's an unknown.
What I find interesting myself is to know how the lore will tie the class to the job, or if they will be completely separate. I mean, a Gladiator fighting in Colosseum becomes a holy knight of justice? Or a gambler becomes a far eastern monk? Since the job is related to the class, it's not justified to make the background completely separate like with different classes.
And that is truly the crux of it.
If only Gladiators can become Paladins ... yeah it's less imaginative and will cause some balance issues, but it's acceptable.
If Gladiators can only become Paladins ... now we have major gameplay issues, as well as insane balance issues.
(Please note the placement of the word "only" in the two statement above. It is significant.)
no im just saying
every mmo has people who slam the new content, then complain like mad, every time anything is ever released
so trying to cater to those people isnt the answer ever, those can never be satisfied and its funny people always bring them up like they matter
I think that not a good idea, because if you level a job to 50 to unlock a 50 will take away from learning the new job and doing low level instance and quest. That will kill some parts of the game. If thats how the dev teams gonna do it , the level cap should be raised. I think about it, most players have like 5 or 6 Rank 50 jobs already. Please think long and hard Dev Team before doing this.Plus starting a job already 50 will leave players with one less thing to do. New starting city with new job starting from level one =New players. Just saying^^
Uh, I hope hitting 50 class, quest, and so on will not unlock 50 job. It would make everyone's job excatly the same at the point. I would rather unlock job lvl 1 at rank 30 or so - That feels better and it still gives you some kind of goals. I absolutely dont like the whole idea about :
50 lvl unlocks 50 job instantly. No, please. :/
I think Jobs will start at Level 30 at the latest as we are getting a Level 30 Dungeon so you would think you would have access to them by then. I personally think you will get access to them before even that so you can get a feeling for them before the dungeon maybe Level 20-25.
*EDIT*
Unless of course the R30 Dungeon IS how you unlock the Job. So completing it on a certain class will unlock the Job for that Class maybe.
*EDIT 2*
Maybe the Dungeon is where you get your first bit of AF gear for your Job.
All I really ask of you Bayohne is please tell the developer's I'll hunt them down if Lancer->Dragoon doesn't have Jump from day 1. (Also, put us back into heaviest tier of armor again please, platemail is part of what makes dragoon's jumping ability so impressive. And I'll pass on the wyvern this time around, so there's no factoring that in to weakening our damage input as a result.) But really, Jump!
I'm going to give it a shot, but still, this is pretty much counter to everything I enjoy about the game now.
With how the job system has now been described it would have been easier if they just removed the Class names and implemented the job system from the ground up mimicing FF3/t/11 etc.
I'd enjoy that more then this clusterbomb that is being implemented. Because at least then theres a chance I can still use my prefered weapon on my prefered job when its still socially acceptible as such. IE Paladins and Samurai with Lances or Warriors with Great Axes, Great Swords, and Hand Axes. Or Great Swords for everyone.
1 Job, 1 Weapon is boring, And will be boring forever. I don't know why anyone would support such nothingness.
Then they would have to rewrite everything in the game, including the lore, the guilds, all the cut-scene's..etc.
And pretty much have to wipe everyone's progress, and since they said from day 1 that wouldn't be the case, the only other alternative, was to build on top of what we already had.
For once I agree, I would prefer if they just scrapped the current system and rebuilt with Jobs from the get go instead of trying to shoehorn them in somehow so as not to upset current players. If they just scrapped and rebuilt with Jobs they could still let us keep our equivalent Ranks/Level and transfer them to the new Jobs so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
Who knows though maybe they have actually come up with something great, but to me it seems like they are trying to go back to a more FFXI setup but trying not to piss off the current player base and I hope that won't be a mistake by doing that and trying to shoehorn the Job system around the class system as opposed to building it from the ground up.
It makes me wonder how they will implement new jobs in the future. Will they introduce a brand new class to level in order to get in that new job? (SE puts in two handed sword class that will unlock dark knight) Or, will they start stacking jobs on the current classes? (Expansion 1: all classes get another job to unlock)
Bayohne never said that, nor implied that.
He saying we'll have to wait to see if a Class will be able to have more than one Job. So let's wait before we throw ourselves over cliffs like Thelma & Louise, OK?
. . . Selective reading, much? Look two sentences before the first one you bolded.
Here, I'll help:
Quote:
Spoke to the dev. team to try and wrangle some more details regarding the upcoming job system. The current thinking is to have one job for one class. So for example, if you are a gladiator, the job you could unlock would be paladin, etc. Right now, we can't give any further details about the possibility of having multiple jobs per class.
To try and stave off the coming flood of "So if gladiator becomes paladin, then what will xyz class unlock?" You'll have to stay tuned for more details in the future!
Lol and that's why i said [B]right now[B] as in, for the time being.. Meaning as you can read in the original post "The current thinking is to have one job for one class. So for example, if you are a gladiator, the job you could unlock would be paladin, etc." Sure there is high likely hood in the future more jobs will be tied to perspective classes.
Touché, Pussy Cat! :)
But it looks like selective reading is working both ways. :p
These two statements seem to counter to each other. We would need the Mighty Bayohne himself to square this up, it seems. Which I believe he will ... at the later date he promises.
Basically, Bayohne should have never said that 50 GLA is a 50 PLD. But he did say that basically, Jobs do not have levels. So what Bayohne should have said was that your Job is emphasized on your Rank than it being its own separate class.
Jobs will not be a grind, but there will be ways to obtain skills and become familiar with them as you are working towards earning your other skills (via questing, etc.).
You will never see in-game:
GLA Level:50
PLD Level:50
Most likely will be
GLA Level:50
Job: Paladin
As Paladin (for example) won't be a grind, you will probably have to find a group to help you earn your Paladin Skills, or at least the more advanced skills. Who knows at this point, but what people need to realize is that Jobs WILL NOT have levels.
Its been said plenty of times before. Its pretty much like a Title that locks you into your class and job for enhanced party play. Its not that hard to understand.
But think about what you believe to be the current plan. Then think about the Disciples Of Magic. Do you think they are going to make Conjurers only be able to use the White Mage Job and not the Black Mage Job? Or vice versa?
When it comes to the mages, a single Job for a single Class doesn't make any sense. Unless they move approximately 17 abilities between the two Classes AND completely change the lore for both of them.
I don't think their doing that, but I could always be mistaken. It wouldn't be the first time. ;)
One thing is for sure for me anyways... whatever Job I'll be I'll still be wearing my subligar... take my subligar away and I'm going after the devs.
