To be honest, I could care less if this game comes to the new Wii. I just want to be able to hook that controller up to my PC and stream FFXIV to it while I lounge around the house.

no hard drive?
you think a mmorpg can run without hard drive in the wii U ? <.<
i do lol ......but i work with a PC so that doesnt help >.>
Yes.. It only makes sense to port to as many systems as possible.. the new Wii system has the specs to run this game at full specs.. and could bring in a large population.. I would also like to see a new Mario RPG ;p
35MB/s is nothing, especially when you compare it to the 192MB/s that a SATA 1.0 drive (which the other two systems are using, if I'm not mistaken) is capable of--that's, what, 5.5 times as fast? What makes the speed issue such a huge concern for me is that, assuming Nintendo offers serious online and DLC support, the Wii U is likely to be the worst console for both because the low read/write speeds of the supported storage formats are going to translate into longer loading times, and it'll get even worse if large amounts of patch data are involved.
Skyrim is ok, but i think you'll find a lot of people have lost interest in halo franchise. And everyone is redoing their old games right now, seems gimmicky. The ability to play through some of the old games are nostalgia, but I don't like shooters, the halo storyline was still interesting but after 2, (2's always suck) they needed to recapture people and 3 did not do enough. Just sayin' I've literally only heard you and two other people speak halo's praises, and those two other people just play halo threes online all the time and are pretty lame.
I said it was a matter of opinion. You come off so nintendo fanboy. Calm down if someone doesn't think that game is hardcore, if I can beat a game in a day because its easy mode, I really don't consider that game hardcore. I don't consider a game hardcore if there's no incentive to replay it. These two things are based on OPINION. which differ's from person to person, there isn't even a set definition for hardcore gaming. You shouldn't call people dumb when they don't give a crap about your nintendo fandom and their just hear to talk about their opinion about nintendo wii u on e3.
Well, if this ever did possibly happen, which sadly I don't think that it will, the Wii U controller screen could serve as a virtual keyboard with macros, hotkeys, and more available to the player saving them the time and hassle of using a real, wired/wireless clunky keyboard. Action bar set to the controller screen would be pretty cool too along with maps and beastiary of some sorts. Only problem is getting the game to run smooth on the system and the online service that hasn't been officially revealed and explained yet.
We won't see FFXIV on the Wii U, as it isn't looking likely at the moment we will even see it on the PS3.
This game hangs on a very precarious ledge right now, and until they get things sorted, I wouldn't hold your breath on it's future.
For 7 years I've been waiting for a console that could pull off what Crystal Chronicles and Zelda Four Sword Adventures did. Nintendo completely delivered in my opinion and has the potential to make my dream come true. I'll be watching this closely until next year's E3.
The FFXIV won't go to Wii so you can forget about that. If it come will be to PSvita as an extra to the game like doing mini-games like chocobo races and pet/raise (like tamagochi) to get gil or other things, or since craft isn't complex we could craft without image and only with windows. There is many possibilities.
My question is if we could get those functions and don't have the game for PS3 but for PC only.
Honestly playing from a USB drive and SD makes no difference trust me. The 192MB speed of sata means nothing at all. I used to play WOW from a WD USB drive and i didn't see any difference from when i was playing at home directly from my SATA hdd.... none at all. As per the download content... you forget the your internet speed will never download at 32MB/sec so the difference in speed between usb hdd and SATA in that scenario does not matter.
Not being a fanboy at all, i just hate stupid comments. An hardcore game is not what YOUR opinion is. It's actually an official definition to define a particular type of game aimed at "hardcore gamers". You say your definition of an hardcore game is the replaybility factor? So in that case.. mario party could be considered by a lot of pple to give a good incentive to replay it as you put it.... yet nobody in the whole world besides you would consider that game for the hardcore.
And yes i write in bold cuz i like to do so. :)
You misunderstood me with the DLC. My concern isn't that it'll be slower downloading DLC, it's that heavy DLC content (or huge games that demand at least a partial install, like FFXIV) will be slower than SATA or the game disc, which will have a negative impact on performance when you're trying to load new objects, textures, and sound into memory.
Odd... I look up official definition for 'hardcore game' and it doesn't give me an 'official' definition that said that its a particular type of game aimed at 'hardcore gamers' It tells me to look at the definition of 'hardcore gamers'.
Anything I saw about 'hardcore game' usually goes into the 'gamers' themselves and one link I saw even said that hardcore gamers tend to stay away from consoles such as the Wii. Conversations I did find on 'what makes a hardcore game' always seem to end the same way as well which is basically that a hardcore game is whatever that specific person finds hardcore and isn't a specific type of game officially, but 'hardcore games' and 'hardcore gamers' depend on the person you speak to.Quote:
Definition for hardcore game:
Hardcore gamer is a widely used term applied to describe a type of video game player. There is currently no unanimously agreed upon definition for the term. Some describe hardcore gamers as those whose leisure time is largely devoted to playing video games.
Actually many gaming sites also say hardcore 'in their opinion' is whatever they think it is. So yes it does seem that while a lot of people do agree that 'x' game can be considered a 'hardcore game' and due to that games within that category are labeled 'hardcore games', it is also dependent on the person playing the games and there is no 100% set definition on what a 'hardcore game' is.
I think the best quote I found is as follows:
So it still seems hardcore, while some games have fallen into that label, is all about the gamer and the affection for gaming. So while yes some games do fall into what people consider hardcore, you can't tell someone that a hardcore game isn't about their opinion because to be honest gaming is all about the players opinion, what they like, don't like etc.Quote:
If hardcore gamers are people who are in love with gaming, hardcore games are games made for those with that kind of enthusiasm. In other words, hardcore games are games that aren't aimed towards the mass market, the casual, the people who don't have that same affection for gaming as you do.
I’m sure you’ll say I’m wrong or stupid etc… you seem to be putting a lot of people down in this thread who don’t agree with you. In the end it’s all about an opinion and people are allowed to have those if others like it or not.
and Nintendo admits footage was taken from the PS3...
http://www.neowin.net/news/nintendo-...3-and-xbox-360
Well of course the footage was from other systems, devs have only just begun to get the dev kits so they won't have anything ready for it.
All you've proved is that your definition of incentive to reply the game is not what hardcore games is. I don't even know why we are having this discussion as i think 100% of hardcore gamers and 99% of pple on this forum know what is a game aimed for the hardcore and what is not. Ninja Gaiden 3 is for the hardcore and i don't think you will find anyone else besides you disagreeing with that statement.
You claim WII U has no hardcore gamersor supposed hardcore games but 80% of the games they showed are hardcore games.
And you're right, hardcore gamers tend to stay away from the WII, that's why Nintendo made the "WII U" which is aimed at satisfying them as much as the casuals and with a line up like darksiders II, tekken, Assassin's creed and Ninja Gaiden 3, i think they are going in the right direction.
I feel like such a noob for asking this but what the hell does /10chars mean?
In other words--to use an analogy--instead of writing the essay themselves, they Googled the subject, downloaded whatever looked good, and then changed a few words around. Because that's going to show people what a great writer they are!
It's actually a meme from the Steam forums, where the minimum number of characters in a message is 10. This forum has the same setup, so you put /10char to reach the limit on a short message.
This is what the system can do. It's early footage too so it's optimal either. I think it will handle these games just fine.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-wii-u/715112
That's not an analogy at all. We are talking about making comparisons, demonstrating the performance of a system.
You're analogy only entails that the footage would be stolen copyright and Nintendo claimed as theirs. Which is.. absolutely false. Please read the link and stop arguing.
I read the link. What they said was that they took footage from the other two systems and tried to pass it off as a demonstration of what their system is capable of; where this fails is that it doesn't demonstrate anything other than their hopes and dreams of what those games will look like on their system. An actual demonstration would have used real footage from the actual system, because that's what a demonstration actually is. In other words, at least part of the visuals they showed the Wii U of being capable of exist only in the realm of fantasy at this given time. Whether that will remain true going forward remains to be seen.
LOL Ok...
One) It's not my definition of anything. I looked up what YOU claimed a 'official definition' of what a 'hardcore game' was and I found no such 'official' definition. So please, link me to where you found your 'official' definition to prove that it is, in fact, the official definition if you're correct.
Two) I also said that there are games that are known as 'hardcore' games, but they didn't start as hardcore games. They started as games, that gamers and company's developed into what people now call a hardcore game. Even then they got that term because it started with the opinion of players and the game makers of what makes a hardcore game and developing from that. So opinion matters, something you might not consider a hardcore game, if it gets the right audience can become a hardcore game so a hardcore game depends on the audience and gamers that appreciate and attach to it.
Three) No place in my post at ALL did I say anything about the Wii U and if it has hardcore games so don't put words in my mouth to try and prove your point. I only mentioned that a site said that hardcore gamers tend to stay away from the Wii, and the Wii is NOT the Wii U, thank you.
So as I said, all things start with an opinion. My opinion, I don't think at this time the Wii U can support FFXIV but I also don't know the full specs and seeing that it is a year until the release of the system they could change the specs of said system. So my opinion is lets focus on getting the PC version working, since this Wii U system is a year away. Lets worry about if they can put FFXIV on the Wii U after we get the PC version fixed and the PS3 players (who have been waiting a long time) can actually play.
Edit: I must say I agree with this:
Quote:
Part of the problem with using “hardcore” as an adjective for a game is that a lot of people play apparently simple games in what we would see as a “hardcore” way (Hardcore Rock Band players, as an example) and others will play a complicated game – and enjoy it – on easy settings and never really grok everything that is going on around them. From where I sit, hardcore is an adjective best applied to players – not games.
Processors:
IBM Power-based multi-core 45 nm microprocessor "3 core Cpu"
GPU: Custom-designed AMD Radeon HD GPU "Note:should be an ATI from the R700 family"
with a shader unit at version 4.1. RAM should be at least 512 MB.
It also have a blue ray and can play 1080p
Now i don't know jack about console only computer seeing as am a computer repair.
Note i post this to show you the specs to see if you think this could run FFXIV who knows maybe it can more then the ps3 but maybe not.
A demonstration can be the use of anything that shows what the system is capable of, it isn't locked down to where they get the demo from.
Also, if that is only their hopes and dreams, they wouldn't have used that footage. That'd be false advertising, and you'd have to be a dipshit if you think any major video game company thinks that is okay.
No, I think they have no idea how to host an actual demonstration. See, in order to properly demonstrate that your system is capable of the visuals you claim it to be capable of, you have to actually use your system to generate those effects. I don't demonstrate my martial arts skills by having a friend show off his moves and then saying "Yeah, I can do that too."
Disclaimer: I can totally do anything Chuck Norris can do.
I agree with you, consoles are a whole different beast... and even though these are stated specs at this time, they have changed specs before release on consoles before. Look at Vita, they stated specs for it and then changed them. So that is why I said at this time I don't think it could, but it's also a year away so it is an unknown factor.
Oh, they did show off their martial arts skills, but what they were doing is demonstrating how their games will look "a year from release."
Did you read that part? or did you actually not read anything. I just cant comprehend how you are pitting an argument over something that was already explained in the article.
