Crystal Tower Loot Lock Out how long?

I don't care if SE is trying to keep the gap between Causal players and Hardcore players close. There is no point in put a WEEK LOCKOUT ON LOOT.

They are messing up this game and its crap. I didn't pay to play this game a few hours a week. I wanted to level all my jobs to 50 run Crystal Tower with each one. I login for a few hours a week and that's it. It really is sad that SE is putting lockout on loot.

Who said that all loot would not be shared to the entire alliance? If loot was split into 3 different pools for the 3 8 man groups that defeats the entire purpose of 24man content doesn't it? Would be like oh hey we got fuma body on this side but only us 8 can lot on it and you other 16 players are SOL.

Pretty sure Yoshi confirmed that each group of 8 gets a chest (or multiple chests) to split among their group. Possibly that's not true for the last boss if there are multiple chests since I assume the last boss will be a full on 24 man... but who knows. I don't have a link to the source or anything, though, so feel free to not believe me.

Yoshi said this. Read the Dev letter from last week. Only your group of eight will see the chest and the loot it drops.

Every group of 8 gets a chest? I am fine with that. Easier to deal with static groups and in a pickup, less issues arise with it this way.

One week lockout? WHO THOUGHT OF THIS? GOOD GOD NO! Just NO!

In a game where we were led to believe its best to forgo alts and have ONE character, having this type of lockout for anything less than the best (Coil) is a HUGE disastrous mistake. Being one step BELOW best gear this is what you run for your 3rd, 4th, 5th etc jobs!!! I am fully OK with lockouts on Coil, best gear in game needs it even if we dont like it. But anything under "The Best" needs to be at MOST 1 day lockout, and I am even leery of saying that would be acceptable!

One item a week? Way to make the game die and lead to this being dead content and drive away a huge amount of people. Someone needs to slap some sense into someone and get this changed ASAP before its live.

Hm, it would be kind of silly if they put a weekly lock out on loot for an ILV80 piece of gear if they're raising the mythology cap to 450.

I mean you'd basically be able to buy a piece of ILV90 each week save for body, legs, and weapon but even then, you'd still get one of those every other week. So even if you did get the piece of gear you wanted from CT, you would more likely than not be replacing it the next week, granted you capped out your mythology every week.

So with such a strict lockout, would CT gear even get all that much use to begin with? Just food for thought.

People have been clamoring for Loot Lockout in Coil, instead of full lockout, so that they have something to entertain them, we get exactly that for CT and lo and behold it's not good enough.

Hate to say it, but if you are looking for a game that will keep you entertained a full week when you refuse to do anything but the absolute top tier endgame and only if you personally can get a shiny out of it, MMOs are not for you. Maybe try something like League of Legends or DoTA?

This already happens all the time in World of Warcraft, and it didn't cause a problem because others would come in as replacements. In general, each player will want to take a whack at each boss for the loot, so those who drop at Boss2 will mean he was a replacement at Boss3 in a previous run, overall you will still have the same number of players participating.

Towards the end of the content patch when most people have only the one or two pieces they still desperately need, you will have people ignoring later bosses, but that will happen regardless of how the loot is locked out. When they find no meaning in doing something, they will simply not do it.

So in the end, this loot lockout system will not cause parties to fall apart, in fact, it helps with parties that do fall apart to quickly find replacements because people are entirely willing to join in-progress Crystal Tower parties. On the other hand, nobody wants to join in-progress Binding Coil parties because they would miss out on the loot from earlier parties (unless they no longer need anything from it, of course).

The fact that each full party in CT gets their own loot, however, means that it is possible to sell CT runs with a premade. You are just not able to guarantee 100% wins on all bosses. But you can still sell gear.

I'm actually more interested in knowing whether or not the loot lockout is for the entire raid or just on a per-boss basis (more like Coil).

I can't see myself clearing the entire thing if I'm only able to get loot off of one boss per week or something.

You're assuming the Duty Finder is going to find a replacement. When someone drops in WP/AK the duty finder almost never replaces them and we have to quit/start over.

It will replace them if you wait long enough. The thing is, people have to check the "Join Party in Progress" option when they queue for them to join you.

I love when i see ppl loving to have a week lock out and compare that game with other games .
USuallay in other games u have SOMETHING ELSE TO ENTERTAIN YOURSELF like PVP ( without limitations) .
IN that game, besides coil , u have no enjoyable things to do besides bahamuth coil ( don't tell me that u enjoy grind all classes that u can't gear cauz of lockout or job grinding -_- , because it's NOT ).
The pvp in that game is already DOOMED ( they have to rework on ALL class atributes and abilities , healings pot etc ) and with the actual game latency , that won't work .
This game is meant to be a FULLY PVE GAME , and then , with their lockouts , once u 've done all enjoyable content in 2 days , then , u just have to DC and wait the next week .

Remember that the cap is increased , with that , their will be no point to do CT because all of u will be full i90 soon ( beside the fact that u are forced to use DF to do it with pugs )
And once ppl have their weekly CT loot , they'll just stop and wait .
Also remember that's a P2P game with monthly fee , and everyone are paying for just a total of 4 days of BCOB per MONTH . If it was a F2P , ok , we wil understand , but it's not .
in my point with my luck , i already don't care about loots ( cause i loot nothing cause of luckster in my pt, and that for month ), ad then , i just want to have something enjoyable to do besides facerolling in ak/wp)..
Also ,i saw that we will have new ways to farm myth ,but where is the point of it when u can earn them in an extreme fast way in wp ( <15 min rushs).

Yeahhh, we waited 30 minutes once, cleared AK to the end boss and a tank never joined. I'd say waiting long enough isn't an option for small servers.

Good idea, but you're a bit off. This is why 'elitists' freak whenever anyone mentions a loot lockout -- because THIS is what they think it is. A true loot lockout, which is what I'm in favor of, would lock you upon rolling, not upon receiving an item, so it still paces the content as intended.

No seriously SE, you done goofed. I was hoping I'd least would get something fun to do with my FC between Coil.

I'm someone who's all about trying to make MMOs casual friendly. I'm afraid you don't achieve that by piling on restrictions to inhibit progress. If the hardcore want to burn themselves out by rushing through content, fine, let them. Yet from my own perspective with this, I have pretty much lost all motivation to level additional combat classes because my progress is to be artificially hindered. For me, getting new shinies and getting stronger is the fun. Once you've killed stuff like Demon Wall a few times, it just becomes routine. To me, there is no point in letting us level everything on one character if we're forced into the archaic premise of having a "main job" and letting the others suffer because of it.

Today, I am sorely tempted to let my sub lapse at the end of the month. That's the only vote of no confidence I can express other than bringing up my discontent here. I want to play the game more, to progress me. Allow me. Please.

Sorry, but this is not about casuals.
It is about managing the longevity of a content. In classic design, we would have a dropchanche where we would be happy to get at least 1 gear each week. Or 1 gear each 2 weeks (with increased happiness). With a portion of drama if someone get his second gear although it is someone else turn to get it.

This is only a modern, a more human way to manage the same thing. To make that the players don't get everything in short time, but piece for piece in long times.

it's funny that people complained about a 72 hour spawn window on nm's in xi, but support a weekly lockout in xiv...... some people will support anything this group of devs do.

It's hard to find replacements in WP/AK because people don't use the join in-progress option.

It won't be hard to find replacements in CT because people will use the join in-progress option.

Why? Because other pepole will drop half-way, forcing some alliances to disband. Those who disbanded will not mind joining in-progress because there's no point joining fresh. So as more groups disband half-way, more people will join in-progress, so replacements are easier to find, and less people will drop half-way.

Yes it's optimistic, but it's optimistic based on the fact that CT is inherently different to WP/AK. That difference needs to be considered when we look at the replacement situation in CT.

don't get me wrong. i do not mind an established game having a log lockout. i do have a major issue with a new game having that same lockout.

in other words after a game has been out a while and there are tons of content and options on what to do i don't mind not running something over and over, but when a game first releases there is only a fraction of the content needed to keep a playerbase. when a game first releases everything they have in game should be able to be ran like av and cc were in 1.0. give a small lockout after clearing, but have a low droprate. it keeps people playing that content, but allows them something to do other than sign in and run something once and then log out because there's nothing else left.

Like I said, instead a weekly loot lockout (not dungeon lockout), a 5% dropchance for loot would be better.
Maybe not 5%, but something like the droprate from darklight body in 1.0. And after 6 month, change it to weekly loot lockout with increased dropchance and the people would be happy.

I played FFXI for a long time so I'm use to lockouts but a week is just stupid. If the loot Lockout was 72hrs I could live with it. But this doesn't have much End Game content to keep most of us playing more than a few hours a week. Drop Rates make them low that's fine as long as I can run content over and over and be rewarded with something I want phil/myth can burn in hell.


People want to bring up the "Well you should have burned through content" crap again. What happens in 6 months when everyone (Causals) are in the same boat most of us are in with these lockouts and only logging In a few times a week?

And I don't see why anyone should be crying about who burns through content to fast, Do you pay their monthly subs? Start paying my subs and I won't ever say a damn thing about "there's not enough content". I would rather be able to burn through content at my pace and have nothing else to do, Than to be told I can only do it so many times per week.



There will be other content in 2.1 you say? Lockout on Extreme Primals loot too. PVP you say? Sounds like fun punching someone in the face with my MNK, But if I want to PVP I'll hop back on some BF4

If anything they need to change the lockout to per job. I so wanted to keep playing but with stuff like this I can see where the future of this game is going and its not good.

Locking out gear which is not BIS is not helping the casual players in playing gear catch up like Yoshi wants.

People log on to do coil and that's it. Some what's next? Do CT and that is it a whole week.

Do you know what the difference is in CoB and CT? GEAR! CoB offers the best gear in the game so it should not be able to be obtained in a few days. Crystal Tower Gear is ilvl80 and is not the best that you can obtain and there for should not have a lock out. Some may argue that if CT had no loot lockout then that would make Darklight obsolete, Oh well...... if that is the case then SE shouldn't have made the ilvl requirement ilvl55 should have made it ilvl70 problem solved and then that would force people to obtain Darklight gear or ilvl70 crafted gear. Also Darklight is pretty much out the door Phil Tome items are so freaking cheap that HQ ilvl70 gear is insanely cheap.

I expect these type of restrictions in free to play games where you distinguish between premium members and free to play members. I didn't expect for SE to dictate how I can spend my time in an mmo i'm paying for monthly.

Yes yes, other p2p games like Wow have weekly lockout timers, but I don't know of ANY other p2p mmo that limits how many items I can get once I step into the raid.

This is the first time I'm starting to second guess my 6 month subscription.. once it lapses, I will go back to 1 month basis and unsub depending on very long droughts of content.

Only if a WHM gear piece drop during your first run. And even then only if you get it.
If something else drop, just pass and run it again until a WHM gear piece drop into your armory chest

But here, we are paying and staying and waiting...not fun.
Please remember we are paying. To get Myth gear it should take 2-3 months of runs.

One drop a week is horrible. No incentive to do CT at all. The gear for my 2 main jobs looks like crap so there is no need for vanity acquisition. Worthless raid is worthless.
