What's with people saying Yokai-Watch looks out of place?

uhu, it seems you didn't read my post, either.
there's not much difference between machines from different FF games. It would only "seem" out of place, if you played FFXIII, if you didn't, you wouldn't notice. It would feel reeeaaaally out of place, if donald duck themed weps, showed up in GoT....or yokai watch stuff in XIV. I mean you could throw in magitec mounts, from FF6, into 14, and no one would notice....

The entire point of FF14, is that it's an homage to ALL FF GAMES, It's a FF MMO, that takes popular stuff from every other FF title.

Yeah, it's not like XIII and XIV are at least both games in the same franchise or anything.

I dunno. When I put the Yo-Kai minions next to Wind-Up Garuda, Cid/Minfilia/Thancred/Y'shtola or Wind-Up Succubus, they don't seem particularly out of place. Fits right in, aesthetically.

Weapons look like the next PvP tier. Yeah, I said it! There are so many awkward PvP designs that I'm now associating weirdness with PvP equip.

I don't really get what the big deal is.

The game already has out-of-place, "immersion-breaking" and ridiculous mounts, glamour etc. while minions are usually referred to as toys most of the time, and people would bash over this one because it's apparently not Final Fantasy (when it's a collaboration, mind you).

I'd say the flying spinning turtle, Flying fat Chocobo, Fenrir, Behemoth, Bennu, glowing pony and eagle mounts etc. we have now are more ridiculous than the Whisper mount we're getting. I also see nothing wrong with the glamour weapons and the minions, we already have ridiculously designed weapons existing in the game already.

Big difference between homage and recycling
Crystal Tower is a homage, XI, XII and XIII enemies are obviously recycled to cut down on cost and are you implying that they recycle because some things are popular with people? Those generic snake enemies from XII are a real hoot with Final Fantasy fans aren't they? And regardless if you recognize an enemy or not is just moving the goal post saying it's okay to do it as long as people don't recognize them.

I am fully aware that XIV is a fan service game btw which is why I think it's weird that people choose a game made for fans as their first FF but that's for another topic.

We have this things sicne beggining. No one says anything abut it. It is werid? Yes. It is bad? Not really.

I don't like recycling either, but it doesn't matter if it's homage or recycle, the point is that it's not "out of place" since it's thematically similar, unlike the yokai suff.
If you're talking about Lamia, they have been around for hundreds of years, in mythology, and in games since before FF was invented; it's a common monster in RPG.
Bahamut, Ifrit, Shiva, Moogles, Chocobos, etc, have all been recycled since basically the first FF game, and no one seem to mind - but now we need to complain about these mobs from FF12 or 13? i don't know why they put them here (i guess to cut down on dev time as you said) but it doesn't matter in the context of the thread.

I have no problem with it. Sadly I'm taking my 3 month break from 14 for being bored out of my damned mind for so long waiting for content and I'm going to miss this event. Don't really care much since its only cosmetics which does nothing to the value of my experience with the game itself, so I'd say bring on the plastic decoration stuff :/
