Actually, I'm starting to scab this healerstrike as an excuse to level my healers. I'll take the short queue times and free comms if these whiners don't want them.

Casual healer here: I am not happy about the state of healers. Please do not speak for us.
Other people have talked about the problem better than I could so I will say this instead: Would you be okay if dancer's dance steps only had 1 step and you were only given 1 button to attack? No? Then why are healers allowed to be in this condition? Is it because it is convenient for you to not care? Easier for you to simply push people down because you would rather not think about what it is like playing this role?
Do you think healers are in an acceptable state? Are you okay with healers only having 1 button to press because no one is taking enough damage and tanks effectively can heal themself?
You know just as well as I do the game would fall apart if all healers stopped playing. Most players already have given up on healer because it is the worst role in the game. Maybe you don't notice because it has been bad for a while so you are used to it. Change is scary, I know. But sometimes change is needed for things to get better.
if people REALLY. really thought this wasn't going to do anything they wouldn't be constantly popping in here and crying at us to not do it.
so like i said earlier today. if you're worried your queues will be so much longer because a portion of the people who main healer are no longer queuing as healer, i will GLADLY applaud you if you try and main healer for the ENTIRETY of dawntrail.
i don't think you will though.
prove me wrong, i'd love to see it.
i do appreciate them not letting the thread fall off of page 1 of the forum tho, that's mighty kind of y'all.
I know you said warrior, but it's not specific to warrior that this is about.

Job leveling stats is maybe the worst thing you could possibly reference.
Not only is one of those shared with one of the most popular DPS jobs. I have multiple jobs at or near max level that I don't actually play any more. I only started playing the video game late into Endwalker.
I have a level 90 Reaper that was just for the Endwalker MSQ, I have not played it since but I still posses a level 90 Reaper. I also have a level 90 DRK that's used exclusively in Hunt Trains because the state of tanks rn frustrates me and an 80~ WHM I couldn't even finish leveling but realistically I could run through Frontlines/Tribes/Khloe and get done.
And what makes you think that? I started on CNJ back in ARR and swapped to SGE-main in EW, but my spouse was BRD and picked up healing in response to slow queue pops, and now quite enjoys WMH. People adapt.
Good luck balancing that -- and if you don't, be ready for there to be only one class (or maybe two) of healer that's welcome in high-end play.
As the 600-year-old saying goes, you can't please all of the people all the time.
And in online gaming, you actually can't please all of the people ever.
I find it cute that people think this will actually do anything meaningful (and I'll willingly eat my words if it turns out it does). We have a sea of over 1 million active players right now, and that's going to spike when DT comes out. The group going on "strike" is barely a grain of sand in comparison (several of whom have already in other threads pointed out they already rarely do roulettes or play outside of pre-made static or FC groups). Other people will just see that healer queues have gone from instant 95% of the time to instant 95.1% of the time (actually, they won't even notice that) and just take the insta-queue. I think people seem to be forgetting that once WoW went all-in on esports, FFXIV became the go-to MMO for relaxed, casual players who couldn't care less about people going on "strike."
That isn't someone taking up healing in response to the strike. That's an active healer who isn't participating in the strike. As far as when they actually took up healing, I mean there wasn't a strike then. Most players will respond to any wait times by simply waiting it out or joining the strike. It's silly to assume someone's going go level a whole job in the middle of a new expansion.
that's nice sweetie, have you made sure to drink some water?
how do you feel about volunteer work? i hear humane societies always need people willing to clean kennels. ^-^
(also i'm just southern, this is just how i talk in real life, i'm sorry that me being nice is so scary and hard for you. i genuinely want you to have a better day, and dehydration is awful)
this thread is literal parody turned reality.
I'm going to say it again in capslock so maybe you can read it better.
NOBODY WANTS WHAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR AND WHEN I SAY NODODY I MEAN THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE PLAYING THE GAME OTHERWISE SE WOULD HAVE KEPT HW HEALER OR REVERT THE CHANGE YEARS AGO.
Got it? Or do I need to listen to another "I'm different so you are wrong"?
Hi Titanmen.
Except as Sage some of those damage GCDs might as well represent healing GCDs because of Kardion. Dealing damage is also healing whomever has Kardion.
I'm not trying to say that every one of those players would absolutely switch to healer if needed.
But that's a very large pool of potential healers to fill in if other healers decide it's time to stop healing.
oh sweetie you sound really upset. maybe you need to take a little walk and have a glass of water? if being in this thread really upsets you this much you don't need to be in here.Quote:

i really suggest that you go do something else for a little while. you're clearly incredibly upset over the idea that other people aren't having fun, and want to have fun.
and sweetheart, that's not good for your bloodpressure.
you dont need to be so angry.
Responding to someone enjoying the laid-back healer life when q'd with a WAR tank:
Hey, when I queue for DF as SGE and get a tank and two DPS that are really damn good and we ROMP over the same dungeon that I've had so many noobs and goobs screw up in the past, I enjoy the heck out it! Sure, I'm doing more Dyskrasias than GCD heals, but who care as as long as it's fun?
HOWEVER, then there's those times when the tank DCs, and the group decides to go on without them until they reconnect.
That's slower, and not a romp at all. I often have to just plain heal while the DPS do their thing. But I enjoy that too!
Long ago I was healing in static. It started out fun, but then it began to feel like a job. I was showing up out of obligation, not anticipation.
So I quit doing that. "Yo ho yo ho, the casual's life for me!"
And I must enjoy it: why else would I have six characters on two accounts and three worlds waiting for DT at EoC, all of them with at least SGE/WAR/DNC and geared to iL640 or better? I'll be doing DT at least six times, predominately doing the dungeons on SGE except when my spouse (who has five geared EoC characters with at least iL640 WHM/WAR/DNC) wants to WHM them.
Y'all enjoy your strike. We'll happily pick up the slack (and the comms, and the in-need bonuses) while you're gone.
If the moderators and devs see a 100+ pages long thread with people bickering back and forth, they might just roll my eyes and look for more serious threads with easy to read feedbacks.
Just because a thread stays on the front page doesn't mean it's going to be taken more seriously.
Perhaps for them it's like the Gong Show, where the point of getting people up on the stage is for those people to embarrass themselves.
High visibility isn't always an asset.
But really, do you think you can get them to stop with your post ?
And is that really your intent: to silence people who disagree with you?
Why wouldn't they, they have a vested interest in keeping the thread on page 1, too. The more 'healers' joining the strike, the better the queues will be for the scab healers, and should the strike succeed in its goal the scabs get... well whichever of the 3 or so manifestos posted so far that SE most agrees with will benefit all the players the most.
Or maybe we're popping in here because we want things to change but see the strike itself as wasted effort.
I've been maining healers in MMORPGs since 2008. I'll still be healing when 8.0 rolls around assuming I don't die or end up with a disability that prevents me from playing.
I'm not out to spite anyone. I'm just saying that a strike isn't going to accomplish what you hope it will.
Have fun doing whatever it is you end up doing in Dawntrail.
The fact that you had to twist a silly joke into this shows how unserious your comment is.
But if you need the reassurance: No, constructive debate is obviously always welcome. :) But if you come in here making fun of others you'll have to endure some teasing in return.
Edit: also to clarify - no I don't want them to stop, personally I don't care. I just think it's genuinely amusing when people throw in these jabs when the only thing it does is keep this thread at the top. You may say visibility isn't always good but no visibility is even worse. If they see you there's at least a chance your feedback is taken into consideration. Out of sight and it means the issue is certain to be forgotten.
I remember how much of an ordeal it was to do the first EW trial because there were literally no DPS and Healers queuing due to do many people leveling SGE and RPR and being behind. Duty finder was absolutely not working, I was only able to do it in a PF full of all tanks. And that wasn't even due to a strike. If enough people didn't play healer on purpose it would absolutely cause an inconvenience to a lot of people.
Why do people have such a big problem with Healer mains? It's just a game, why do you care that people just want to play the role they enjoy and have fun with it at all levels? You can do that with DPS and Tanks, why not healers?
When I do MSQ with my SCH, and get into an instanced single duty, it takes a very long time since my kit doesn't help with this scenario. I have lost and have to repeat a lot of them. Either because I got ambushed by too many enemies, a character died when they were supposed to stay alive or the thing I was supposed to protect was destroyed because I couldn't deal with the enemies fast enough. Even with the "Easy" difficulty, this problem persists. It is not very fun to do and have to go through the same solo duty over and over because my kit is not working in this environment.
Also during MSQ, you get the "Kill X amount of enemies" quests. I remember being in early HW story when I had to kill 3 Vanu Vanu, I didn't have my Chocobo out and was killed over and over. My kit is not built for any for on solo play. But all other roles are.
Dungeons are not much better. To put is simply, I hate that they only way I can enjoy my time as a healer is when I get a bad team, otherwise I will turn into a Broil spammer with a few heals here and there.
I like the PvP kit SCH has so would really enjoy if some of those abilities were given to PvE!
And for people who like the design we have now. Why don't we leave WHM as is and make the rest a range of different difficulties?
Like: WHM is the easiest, followed by AST, then SCH and SGE.
Even in this theoretic scale, I would still main SCH. My experience in other MMOs has taught me that I like medium to high difficulty jobs. Even if they would be just as powerful as WHM, there are people who like to engage with their kit more. There should be a Job for all types of difficulty in all roles. If I want something harder to master, I should have an option and no one should be upset because, at the same time, there will be an easier Job to master. So everyone is happy.
I just want Healers to be fun to play.
I doubt people would bat an eye if healers who are bored with their rotation simply put playing a healer to the side without making a big deal going public about it.
I've seen other complain threads where people talk about what they don't like about a certain job far more civil and on topic than this.
I think it's simply because people have called out for a strike on playing a healer until SE fixes them that has caused the uproar from either side.
This visibility has been enough to convince me to join the movement for the strike. With the people who just naysay, downplay, and discourage the the intent behind the strike, it only convinces me to stop dithering around as a bystander and take an particular stand instead of coping for improvements under the sunk cost fallacy of being a healer main.
Sure, this movement might have no impact, or maybe it'll show its impact once the hype slows down. At the very least, I won't be regretting my decision to take a stand in what I believe in. I'll have fun now that I'm doing content while playing a non-healer job that tries to match those requirements. It'll probably feel more like a healer than the healer job itself, which is saying a lot. I only see a win-win situation.

A duty meant to be tackled by 8 players, cleared by only one, on content (no overgearing). Of course, I'd imagine this doesn't count either because 'oh it's just a normal mode raid' like there's some kind of nebulous line in the sand where it's suddenly perfectly acceptable that we can solo stuff as a WAR. Like we're all meant to be completely fine with it as it is, but if a WAR starts being able to solo EX trials, oh THEN it's a problem because THEN it's crossed 'the line'. In which case, I'd love to know where exactly this 'line' is meant to be, because personally, I believe we've crossed that line long long ago
It's comically easy to balance potency outputs of jobs against one another, or a hypothetical rework against the current version of the job. That's one of the strengths of using 'potency' as a measurement instead of exact damage values. We can literally math out optimal rotations for all of the jobs based on the tooltips we got from the Media Tour. This isn't WOW where there's like 4 or 5 different procs or trinket effects that convolute the maths. In fact, here's an example:
Take WHM.
Change Dia from 65, plus 65 for 30s, to '150, plus 70 for 12s', for a total of 430p.
Add a new GCD with a 15s CD, that deals 350p damage.
That's all.
Playing current gameplay in a training dummy scenario (22 Glares, 2 Dias per minute) is 8250p per minute. This above suggestion, which takes us down from 22 to 15 Glares per minute (along with 5 Dias and 4 'new button'), is 8200p per minute. Oh no, we lose 50p per minute? Easy, we increase Dia from 150p per cast to 160p. 5 Uses per minute, 50p gained, now it's an equal 8250p for both. People have been theorycrafting ideas for improving healer gameplay, with potency balancing, for fun in the healer section of the forum for years. It's not really all that difficult
Additionally, please go look at Endwalker, where Black Mage is able to deal some 10% more damage than a Summoner or Red Mage, and despite this, RDM/SMN is not being kicked from groups, be they farm or prog parties
I understand your side, but still. I don't see the problem with people saying they are in a "Strike". Some people made a much bigger fuss about Kaiten than anyone in this thread did.
People are not happy with their role. How will the devs know why? We tell them. -> Literally that easy. I am not having fun in the content I am doing as a healer, ergo I will not be a healer in that content.
I have no ill will towards anyone. It's just a game, I want to have a good time playing it after work. And if there is something I don't like or feel it needs some tuning, I will say that.
I don't really like the rest of the roles/jobs in this game. They are not that fun. Besides some spell effects and the weapons, they could easily just be 1 job with different specs. The 8.0 comment gives me some hope, but I am a very "I'll believe it when I see it" type of person. Actions for me speak louder than words. I hope the 7.2 comment about making encounters more challenging will make a difference and people will get to come back to the role and have more faith for 8.0.
Let's just keep it cordial in here, we all just want to have fun in this game.
Now if only I had an hour to watch a 1hr video on how a WAR main meticulously planned his mit rotation to clear P1N. If anyone says that isn't a valid response to the prompt they're wrong.
This is probably why EVERY boss in Abyssos as some form of Bleed on them, which gave us two of the better fights of the expac for healers (P6 and P8)
Did you do this? Because unless you can do this with little to no practice, it doesn't make your role as healer irrelevant. I don't care that someone who is likely in the top 1% of players can do something. This attempt was 1 hour long, and I imagine it took many more hours of practice to pull this off. This is less efficient than doing it with a full party, the only reason you'd ever do this is to prove that you can. I do think it should be possible to do crazy stuff like this because of how cool it is.
