This could already be countered with the line-of-sight mechanic. They've made it easier by adding more walls on the later floors. You can't really go wrong by moving behind a mob and a wall, watching the attack, and learning how to dodge it.

The downside is that pulls take longer since you lose GCDs, and time management has always been an issue on the later floors.

Mobs on 71+ aren't supposed to die fast, or at least not in the version of the content that every solo player used to enjoy. I also didn't see any blind or no abilities floors, so they definitely overshot the HP nerf on the later floors. I'm pretty sure a gloomed floor now is still faster than a non-gloomed one in Heaven-on-High or Eureka Orthos.

You can buy things that remove pacification from vendors. Echo Drops I think? Classic Final Fantasy item that sells for like 9gil

Echo Drops cures silence but does nothing to pacification. It's a thing for caster at least...

Echo Drops only cure the Silence not the Pacification. They also do nothing for the Pixie transformation debuff that lasts just as long and is even worse since you also can't interact with anything.

I love it, but what intern thought it was a good idea to make the practice mode for the boss have penalty on leaving? I had some rather... questionable individuals with me today, and I had to leave because they failed mechanics repeatedly even when I explained what to do

It's average, mostly fine but to be honest isn't long term engaging content and that is probably the core issue with so much FFXIV content, it is a couple of weeks and maybe a month then it dies out. It isn't groundbreaking or a great stride forward in solo content, it's mostly a reskin of potd so far with rewards that are just bleh.

Floor 10 boss is poorly tuned when solo and needs a rework to a 65 secs mechanical cycle instead of ~55 secs which desync's the adds from burst cycling so at 65 secs a player can hold their burst a couple gcd's for the adds instead of at 55 secs eventually always falling behind if weren't lucky enough to get a haste pom. As is that mech cycle is a pointless barrier to progress for non-dps jobs.

Other than that still has the same silly problems carried over from other DD's - the absurdly streaky RNG still exists to where have had multiple floors where 75% of the chests were all the same pomander, and as in the case of aetherpool, always rolling armour upgrades. This easily desyncs aetherpool and just creates problems later when you may need the extra stats from that aetherpool level to maintain progress (personally mine was desynced with armour being +26 levels higher than weapon for ages) and doesn't appear to be any sanity check on chest rolls to prevent such from occurring. Mobs with lethal attacks at higher floors telegraph badly so a run can be instantly wiped solo because you simply hadn't seen a mech before, while in a group it is stupidly easy by comparison.

So far I’ve only done the first 30, because I’ve been more interested in grinding for the MHW rewards. And I’m going to be doing that for awhile, because there are lots of rewards, but at a decent cost/time ratio. I can do one run and at least get something decent to show for it.

Which leads to my only real complaint so far about PT. I’ve done 1-30 twice, because I forgot about how it takes away your armor/weapon power when you make a weapon grip. lol During those 60 floors I got maybe 2-3 pieces of the Accursed Hoard each floor trip. I got none of the new items. A few old minions, some of the sacrificial items, and hardly any of the currency for the shop items, and of course, once again most of the things I actually want are random drops from the sacks and not purchasable. Really kills my motivation when there’s content requires big chunks of time, where I may or may not get anything to feel like it was time well spent. It’s why I gave up on EO after getting countless useless silver sacks when all I wanted was the damn Triad card. I’m willing to put in a grind, but I want to know it’s going to pay off! For sure, not just random chance. And could we just go up to 3 save slots at least already?

Now to the good points… the storyline for PT has been great! Love seeing more of Feo Ul (though I would’ve enjoyed hearing them even more… really should’ve splurged and got their voice actress for this!), and the lore bits are interesting. The dungeon design is absolutely beautiful… like it cannot be stated enough how much better it is than anything that came before. Although it could just be because I prefer the Il Mheg aesthetic. I also like the whimsical take on the various transformations and I loved that they used all the ShB music, with what sounded like a couple new remixes. La Hee dance mix! lol

After I’m done with MHW, I’ll probably go back and start trying out the higher floors, but for now, it feels like content I’ll enjoy for the atmosphere when I’m there, but will be quickly diminished by the ever-present whims of RNG.

I'm saying this as someone who has finished all three previous Deep Dungeons multiple times and has also attempted some solo runs:

I cleared floor 100 with randoms yesterday, it was a ride for sure....and to be honest, I'm not really sold yet. While the addition of multiple check points is welcome, something about the experience just feels very off.
I can't really pinpoint what it is though, but I have a vague idea.
It might be the harder boss mechanics that make this feel very off, especially at the last boss the difficulty really spiked like from 0 to a 100. I can't even begin to imagine running this solo. And for content that practically invites you to do it with randoms, it's plainly weird.
It might also have to do with all the items cluttering the limited inventory space now. So many offerings, not only shards but three different kinds of currency...it's insanity we didn't get an extra inventory for the offerings at least.

The red sacks you get, where you can get the light relics from, can be gotten by either doing the agenda or challenging the extra boss. While the fact you can also get them by doing the weekly stuff makes it seem like a good compromise, it really isn't...compared to that, farming the boss is much more profitable.

They clearly tried out something new with this deep dungeon, and I appreciate it. But not everything really hit home for me. Might just be my personal opinion, but it feels very...weird, if not to say, unpolished.

They could stand to increase weekly challenge rewards for some things. In occult crescent the weekly XP rewards you get for a phantom job is stupidly small, like 140 xp or something. They could increase it tenfold and it still would barely make a dent because most phantom jobs need ~14,000+ xp to get to max. Like, dang.

I love it, no notes, more Deep Dungeon is good by me. Bosses are a blast.

I got some of those first light sacks from hoard or something at floors 80+ I think. Or something like that but I wiped at 95 and had some of those to appraise. Challenge log was already done days ago for them so I dont see what else it could be.
Can you get them from the trial or just from its quantum version otherwise?

This is the first piece of content I've really enjoyed since 6.1

This is the best deep dungeon to date in my opinion. It has a really nice balance to it and the designs is nice I like how the rooms at least have some more variation and different layouts for stuff like LOS. Enemies so aren't overly powerful but still offer a nice challenge and aren't damage sponges like Orthos. Aetherpool has been generous and I like that you can jump in at different floors now to practice or just to grind it seems a little more solo friendly so far and it encourages full clears now even adding a challenge in the log for it. I think the reward structure is better and at least now going for the mount in the silver sack is more approachable and in general it gives reason to keep the content going for more than a week. So Far I've made to to level 70 and it's been fun so far.

I bounced hard off Eureka Orthos after enjoying PotD and HoH (though I've never solo'd them--I poke at them from time to time but not quite managed them). EO was just such a slog I refused to go in a second time after taking nearly an hour to travel five floors. PT has a much nicer balance that way, and while I'll probably not finish it solo either, I will have more fun trying. It's also the first one I ever tried matched groups with and I managed to get to 99 with those and cleared it with a fixed group later that same day, so that was nice.

The weapons look nice, the layout is the same as all the rest but it looks much different, and while I'm not sold on the instagib mechs, at least most of them were pretty obvious how to avoid them which seems fair to me. Also, running around the whole place as a mud ball is just plain fun.

You can also get them from the trial without placing offerings, but it's probably quite rare. I got one from killing it in what was supposed to be just a practice run. For killing it when giving maximum offerings I think the one placing offerings gets around 13(?) sacks while the other members all get 6.

I forgot to write that earlier but yeah, the checkpoints are a really great addition to it. Makes it far easier to try out specific floors.
Th reward structure is also great.

Though I still think they could and should have innovated more.
Like this it's "only" the best deep dungeon of what we have but it could have been more.


I didn't try out quantum yet because tbh even the initial difficulty of the final boss was a bit higher than I think it should be.
The auto attacks imo clearly favour specific jobs with those like squishy BLM having a way harder time solo.
I have honestly no real idea how to do that one on a solo run with anything but WAR without having all the correct pomanders.

Honestly? I think the devs really need to scale back on the one-shot mechanics. Like sure, it's a "Haha gotcha" until you actually learn the mobs in particular, but I feel like Floors 71-99 are literally packed with Patrols. I kept getting slammed by Patrols just trying to get down there, and it's particularly annoying due to the fact that so many can come up at once even when you try to hide off to the side(they can just circle the room and find you anyway if they're huge like the Sawtooth).

This heavily reminds me of Orthos, namely with how if you get stuck in the orange juice or have to deal with Bird Spam in Floors 61-70 you're literally just having a bad time with mobs even with Pilgrim Pots going.

The issue with weak auto-attacks and OHKO AoEs is tanks having nothing to mit and healers having nothing to heal, a reflection of most of the casual content now. And now with Phoenix Downs and potions being more flexible, it favors DPS even more.

Today I also committed the grave sin of leaving the practice trial with a matched party (we all left), thus incurring a duty registration penalty. So you have to vote abandon. XIV game design strikes again.

Enjoying it a ton. Finished by first eight floor 71 to 100 climbs, next to do 2 more for the profile plate. After that I should be ready to tackle a solo climb, and then finish it off with Quantum 40.

Tanks still need to know how to position mobs safely for DDs and stuns actually WORK on things which is a refreshing change.
Healers get to actually use sleep on things to cancel other enemy casts so there's that.

Generally really enjoying it. I really like the weekly rewards encouraging me to come back again and again and the candelabra gimmick.

Rewards are very good, too.

I've already leveled every job I've intended but hows the EXP payout for leveling new jobs to 100?

Feels incredibly, incredibly cheap and not even like a DD.

The biggest problem are the checkpoints, specifically the 71 check which should be hotfix-deleted immediately (damage has been done tho). The first problem that comes with it is the ability to low-stakes practice the higher floors and bosses by spamming matched groups. This in itself is completely contradictory to the core principle of DD: try to reach the end in high-stakes content and if you fail you go back. Also it makes farming the clear item way too easy and devalues the rewards.

The second problem is that due to this the entire late floors (specifically 81+) are designed and balanced around random MSQ or raiding andys popping in there with no or random poms. Even solo the 81+ mobs fall over in 10 seconds when having strength on, while being absolutely no threat again like in EO if you respect their 'mechanics'. And don't even mention the 99 boss practice mode...

There also is zero resource management, like I did stuff like wiping a flighted floor because I didn't feel like playing it and still made it to the end with an abundance of poms left, something that would get you a fail in HoH or PotD faster than you can count to three. I had a floor in the 90 set where I cancelled the mud ball enchantment simply because using the fairy wipe was faster and more convenient. It's a complete joke.

Another thing as mentioned in a post above is that theres no point in going in as a healer because there effectively are no or only binary health bars (either alive or dead), or any tank other than a PLD because shield bash is just so stupidly broken in PT.

And before anyone asks, I had both the solo title and accessory mount on day 2. Prolly could have gotten it day 1 if I was unemployed.

In short, this will be forgotten even faster than EO. The only thing I will admit is that the presentation, art design and atmosphere are great, specifically the 1-20 and 40-80 'desert' floors, but the whole thing is just too damn easy and forgettable from a gameplay standpoint.

Tanks are still more OP than ever in my opinion in there, because you can actually mit some of the OHKO cleaves (at least sub floor 80) with your bigger defensives up, especially with barriers. But I do agree that OHKO moves are lame and don't feel fun to play around.
In non solo parties I tend to just go PLD because it's so much better than any other class for this, you have stun on demand to cheat the DDR more than just one time (other tanks/melees only have low blow) unless the mob is immune to stuns ofc, the best invuln for it, ranged tools, and cover...

I honestly wish we had the pvp kits in there, each job could do so much more with their own unique tools...

Heard it's pretty good, floor 21-30 is 5M xp at lvl91, 31-40 is 6-7M I think. Probably even better at higher floor series, not sure what people would settle for tbh in terms of reliability vs rewards. Probably not the lvl51-60 or lvl71-80 but who knows.

While I don't agree with most of the whining in here which, for rhe most part, amounts to 'skill issue', I will say it's fucking stupid that the practice mode doesn't let you leave without penalty unless you use vote abandon. I was stuck for several pulls as the only one not dying, and when I wanted to leave, I had to eat penalty and... I just logged off lol.

As for the 'oh everything oneshots you' thing. Nothing that isn't mechanical failure can oneshot you. Admittedly, your comp determines how much of the mob patterns you need to memorize, and Succubus appears to use server ticks to murder you even when you stand still during pyretic, but everything else is fine. If you have a tank, you can still do classic big pulls if they know what/when to stun, and get healed. If you have no tank, you pick them off one by one or abuse Witching to facilitate bigger pulls. Not managing that is, indeed, a skill issue.

Oh that's interesting, I thought it was odd how half of the time I'd just randomly die while waiting for the pyretic to wear off despite not moving or attacking or doing any actions. I wonder if it's a bug?

Aside from that, my only issue with the OHKOs on mechanical failure is the frequency and density of patrols in the final set of floors, unfavourable rng can trap you into a situation where you can't avoid the bad. The other night I had a smooth matched run end on floor 97 when we loaded into the starting room and immediately got trapped by 8 patrols coming from opposite sides of the room, and we couldn't save ourselves with a Witching pomander because there was a No Items floor effect and we didn't get any Serenity pomanders or Poisonfruit/Mazeroot incenses.

I am enjoying it I have tried some of the later floors and found some of the mobs just end me haha even in a party. I am unsure if it is bad positioning by the tank or me just needing to learn more and improve, but on dancer I was toast.

I also have had a lot of fun with random players and had a really great run with a few people who where just there to have fun and we all died a few times but somehow the paladin managed to get us all back up, so thank you<3

I think the weapons are a bit bland but the rewards if you get lucky are great. The design of some of the floors are really nice and I love the super fast sprint I wish we could use that all the time lol. The first boss was annoying as I do sometimes struggle with the bright colours on the floor but overall having fun :)

I think blaming it on the server tick is a skill issue and a mechanical failure of understanding how snapshots work in this game

I tried going solo and got killed by the stage 10 boss. Kinda lost my motivation after that. :')
Maybe I’ll try again later.

But I’ve already heard later it’s full of one-shot mechanics, and I really dislike that. For me, that’s not “hard”.
It’s just a lazy way to create artificial difficulty. I stopped playing Eureka Orthos because of that in the past.

I was the same solo with that boss but as I improved my armour and weapons it got easier but still bit dicey.

The one shot is annoying on the later floors does annoy me. I would love to solo some of it I guess as more guides come out I will try and clue myself up. I found potd much easier to solo.

I did it one more time and could beat it. And I am not against such a little dps check at all. But I think it was a bad idea to do this on stage 10, where people first time start 1-10 with no gear buffs. :')

So this is coming from someone that has only managed to do Floors 1 through 30 so far and has only done up to Floor 50 in both Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High, so my word may not be taken as much as others when it comes to feedback on this content. In terms of the ambiance and layout of this Deep Dungeon, this is easily my favorite so far. The aesthetics just appeal to me and having a rotation of Shadowbringers music (with a few bonus EW tracks thrown in) makes it really nice to just go through the content compared to the other Deep Dungeons in the game so far. On that front, I have to give it a 10/10, because even with how much I struggle with this content, so far I haven't gotten frustrated enough to quit yet and the setting of the Deep Dungeon has helped a lot.

Now in terms of gameplay, this of course is has the same mechanics as other Deep Dungeons and I have always been frustrated with the Aetherpool System due to my poor RNG luck where by the time I am clearing the story required floor 30, I am normally only at 20/20 Aetherpool at best. Now I don't know if the RNG has simply been better this go around or if they tweaked the numbers, but since I managed to end at 32/23 after my first run, but that particular annoyance has been less noticeable. And of the three bosses I've fought so far, while they do have mechanics that I am still struggling to learn the proper tell for (looking at you Floor 30 boss and your hands), they don't seem like unfair mechanics like I have seen in other fights. And then we have the DD Design itself with traps, gloom, buffs, etc. Now I know the new candle mechanic only provides beneficial buffs from floors 1 to 30 so I have yet to see the downsides of using that system, but that candle has alleviated so much pressure during these runs I've been doing. That combined with the new checkpoint system (which I haven't been able to take advantage of yet but I know it'll be a godsend), this has actually gotten me to like Deep Dungeons where the only reason I had done them was for the Ultimog Challenge back during 7.1.

So I'd have to give the Deep Dungeon an 8/10 with what I've experienced of it so far. Now that is definitely liable to change once I start experiencing the later floors first hand, but so far, this content is a success for me.

I am always dead so doubt anyone would see me doing that hahaha. I do see it though and it is annoying because when I am dead I think shit am I that bad but then I remember there are some who do use things to make it easy street.

Tried it chill, it's nice and there's some "Oh, that's cool", but nothing to really write home about.

Still largely a feeling that this 'game' feels more like an algorithm than it does an actual game.
