This game needs more albacore content. SE devotes too much time making content that caters to the bass pros.
You may not have seen it, but I can say for sure that I saw people complaining about it in Stormblood. I was more interested in RP and catching up on missed quests/jobs/beast tribes and so on at the time and quite tired hearing all these "nothing to do" complaints. I got into hunting and people were collecting mounts, so I thought why not do that with them since it gives content longevity.
In EW, these forums were full of "nothing to do" complaints (sound familiar)? If you didn't see it in EW then you must not have so much as glanced at these forums.
No, content wasn't that rough. Think of it as being like Dawntrail content except no telegraphs hardly. No tank buster indicators, no arrows saying "this mechanic happening, stand here!", stack markers were only added half-way through the expansion. They had less overall nut and bolt mechanics to work with than they do now. They also gave the party more responsibility (placing permanent AoEs on the ground for example) which is now exclusive to High-End content.Quote:
wasn't content in HW infamously rough and carried by the story beats?
Aside from the lack of indicators, arrows and telegraphs, what made Heavensward tougher was:and jobs were too easy to mess up:
- Vuln stacks for messing up (and they were more devastating than now)
- Jobs had less ability to deal with the mechanics (hardly any off-GCD heals, way less tank mitigation/selfheals, so even trash hurt and made you rely on the healer), no universal knockback immunity.
But despite all that, I was still farming Expert roulette in Heavensward in the same "it's braindead on farm" way as I do now. It's just more refined and polished now in my opinion.
- Combos expired after a few SECONDs
- you had to look at enemies to auto/block
- ranged attacks or stray GCDs broke combos
- positionals were a much bigger deal for damage
- you had keep-up buffs that were hard for most of the casual playerbase to keep up properly
- rotations were not clearly explained so people did them wrong (doing a fraction of their damage potential)
- there was less leeway so tunnel vision was common
- doing one thing wrong would cost you the ability to use high-damage parts of the rotation for ages
- dying reduced main stats not just substats which was devastating
- a lot of abilities were "I use them but wish they were better stuff" (think physical mit being like Dark Mind was but worse)
- the jobs weren't particularly balanced and couldn't necessarily deal with all things very well (ie. paladin against magic).
You do realize games are meant to be fun?
Fishing is not fun.
If Yoshi P added a 1000 hour grind that involved staring at a wall watching paint dry it still wouldn't be as boring as the entirety of the Fishing job currently is to me. Just because you're a masochist doesn't mean everyone has to be as well.
I'm confused.... You were expecting something else with 7.1? This has been the model for .1 patches since heavensward? Relics start in .25 patches for the last 2 expansions?
7.1 was never going to be more than an alliance raid and a beast tribe, and in this case hildibrand as well. But thats nothing out of the ordinary?
And a fair few people enjoyed both Eureka and Bozja, so not sure what you are on about. I'm honestly starting to wonder why some people hang about forums for a game they so clearly dislike. You are spouting dislike for the same content the game has always gotten?
I just dont know how both reddit and the offical forums for this game are such pits of negativity when I see the opposite daily in the game itself.
Did they suddenly remove all combat jobs, dungeons etc from the game?
You are saying that the game isn't fun, then why play? I see this all the time with MMO players "It's not worth doing". Without a reward it isn't fun, then you don't actually enjoy the gameplay do you? You enjoy getting stuff.
I honestly don't get how people can enjoy a game and then suddenly turn to dislike it when they're done getting stuff. I mean the game isn't any less fun to play afterwards, it is the same gameplay?
This is a place of critical feedback, not blowing smoke up the backside of the developers or making "Feel good wholesome posts".
This is where you go to voice your dissatisfaction and post feedback. All you're ever going to see here is people voicing dissatisfaction with elements of the game and how they would fix it. If you want the mindless positivity join the club on Twitter or Bluesky.
Looks like someone has a tweve year olds reading comprehension. I said Fishing wasn't fun. How do you read that as "This game sucks as a whole I hate it".
HW still offered the Anima weapons questline, in addition to Exploratory Missions for the .15 patch.
Also, it's not that they dislike the game, they simply want something to do, implying they want to play the game, and would otherwise enjoy it if they actually had something to do.
Forums and Reddit are generally going to be filled with people that are impacted by the content lifecycle the most, and whilst people may be enjoying the game in-game, this does not necessarily mean they don't have issues with the game, or don't have things they vehemently dislike. Even when I login to play with friends, I am not really discussing issues with the game, because I am there in a social capacity.
But really none of that matters as the statistics with the current game population already indicate an issue. Sure, it's nothing out of the ordinary to expect drops, but this is the lowest population point, in, what? The last 4 years, and we still have another 3 1/4 months to go until 7.2.
Because the fishing in XIV is one of the most shallow implementations of fishing in a video game, designed exclusively to waste the player's time with multiple layers of RNG and strict catch windows?
I will never complete Feast of Famine. It will be the one quest that will forever stay in my journal.
I don't like fishing enough to deal with fish spawn windows.
I would argue that fishing isn't PvE as much as PvRNG.
When I say it, I always say:
"Nothing 'interesting' to do."
There is always some grindy achievment we could hunt.
But most of the time it is very boring and brings no fun to do so.
I play for fun. Not to kill time. :/
Nah. I've been seeing this for years, especially back in Heavensward. What people mean is that the special type of content they like to waste their time on isn't available. So there is "no content". I bet if the exploratory zone that so many say will fix everything launches and there's someone who doesn't like that content that comes here with the same complaint, those people will argue that there is content and it's the person's fault if they don't do it.
Fact is that new content is nice but this game has never had new content constantly churning out. People either just paced themselves, were limited by time they could spend, or took breaks in the past if they consumed it all like a content piranha and couldn't find new goals in the other content that was available that they had not interacted with. The more players limit themselves in a theme park MMO, the less they're going to find that they have to do.
I think one thing that doesn't come up nearly often enough is the trade off between giving newer players time and space to work their way through older expacs, versus giving those who are already at the current end-game something to do. For example...
On the one hand, we have something like poetics gear, which lets newer players effectively bypass the old gearing grinds and treadmills, while the current end-game gear grind can be whatever SE wants it to be.
On the other hand, when is a newer player to find time for something like Eureka or Bozja if the patch cycles don't provide time for players to do as they will?
Don't get me wrong theirs a lot to do, but a lot of that is unappealing/side old content that not everyone is interested in.
I think why people are more vocal about the lack of things to do is the simple fact that theirs 1. no "open area" content similar to bozja currently 2. The jobs themselves play the same so doing a fight on a different job is not unique or interesting.
It's not like the game lacks content... theirs so much content, but a lot of the older content is out dated and not fun, even stuff at 80-90, you can do but in reality theirs no actual reward or reason to do them synched and that older content you lack more then half of your core class abilities.
If there was more experiences such as jobs feeling more different & jobs at older content feeling a lot better even when synched down while also maybe adding some sort of reward for still doing that content, they had a open world ect. People would complain less, but in reality most people watch forever for either a few raids or story content then they're pretty much done until the next patch. Maybe the direction of the game should be set out to making the game more fun, rather then just following the same formular.
nothing to do ?
have you took a pic of your character in every instance/spot ?
I'd argue that in other expansions, they left us with at least something to sink our teeth into while waiting. It's gotten a bit worse though now considering the around 4 months per patch and having patches like 7.1 which is... Just about nothing, only things you do once a week, something you may do once a day to level jobs/get quick tomes (Pelupelu) and something that should be meant for the grind but isn't really. So it feels like you get to the point that you want a break faster then what it was before.
This is coming from someone that literally does all content (except normal fishing, don't like it and never will).
According to XIVCollect, this is the apex content that we're all just ignoring because we'd rather complain.

I'm not. I'm half way to apha wolf and right behind ravenous. Already got slayer and sniper and working on stalwart. Think I'm on like 150 or sumfin. Gnb is absolutely wild
Here's my job recommendations if you're having a hard time in CC. Please note these jobs are not suited to frontline
Sam - slayer
Gnb - stalwart
Smn - spellcaster
Whm - sawbones
Dancer - sniper
I think it really depends on the person. I hoped out of Eureka when it was current back in Pagos. Since gone back and finished it, but it was long after Bozja. So for me, when that was the "the content" to do, I had nothing to do. I just went back to my checklist of things that I hadn't tried yet/was still finishing up once the new content was out and I wasn't interested in it. I do think they're coming out with different kinds of new content. That content isn't going to appeal to everyone. I've never touched PvP or Mahjong, for example, but there are people who love that content and have been excited by changes and additions made for those areas.
y'all have been yapping for 7 pages but i still dont see any big fish titles

I have no better ones. I kind of gave up on fishing. It was fun for a while but the RNG just got too frustrating.
