I took it for the opposite. The Elvaan Guy doesn't remember shit because he's real. Prishe remembers stuff because dude bro recreated her.
Of course, this is Dawntrail and they both ate tacos and enjoyed them, so clearly they're both real.

I'm going to help people shield you as well. I raid Savage. Savage has tricky and sometimes difficult to implement mechanics with tells that are easier to read than some of the things in this raid. There is a lot going on and the one saving grace is that some of those things don't hit very hard. But I will agree that the readability of some mechanics in the raid is trying to create artificial difficulty. The challenge should be in the mechanics, not trying to parse out the tell in the visual mess on the screen.
I can't agree. For too long the game has been too stale and too boring to play. The alliance raid is not hard, and dying and failing while you get used to the mechanics is not something to be ashamed of but to be expected. A raid shouldn't be easily clearable in one go blind without dying.
That is the situation that has gone too long in this game. If you can easily pass and master the raid in one single go, then how boring and obsolete is the raid by the end of the week? 2 weeks? 4 months??? - the supposed lifespan of the patch. I for one celebrate that playing this raid I know I'm going to be stimulated by the mechanics more than I have been in the past, I can't be on my phone anymore, its no longer a mindless chore to extract a piece of gear from, it's a dangerous fight where I need to pay attention and it challenges me.
This is what end game raids should strive for in an MMO, and it is not hardcore, it is barely midcore content (I would argue its definitely casual). With time, it will become a snoozefest like all the other raids due to ilvl creep and sync, so people who want to sleep while farming gear can have their day.
But to suggest raids need to be easy or slow so they do not kill or challenge the player is unacceptable, and categorically unfun. They are raids... not walk-throughs.
I never said they were hard. Did you miss where I said I did Savage? My issue is trying to instill challenge in just being able to see things in the visual mess. There was a thread a while back about the visuals in M4S and I didn't completely feel the same as the OP with their example, they made a good point that SE just kind of vomits things on the screen instead of making tells clearer and having the mechanic be where the challenge is.
Is that not what Extreme and Savage Content is for? To cater for those looking for the challenge? A lot of players simply play for the story and they shouldn't be locked out. Endgame should strive for difficulty which is exactly what Extreme and Savage provide and with the Chaos Alliance Raids coming quite soon we'll have a lot more high end content to challenge us. Is it so much to ask that the Casual playerbase get their Story mode content?
I don't know what to tell you other than I enjoy being challenged in any way at this point, no matter where that challenge is stemming from. Sometimes it may be the mechanic, other times discerning markers... And I disagree devs should be limited to adding challenge in only way either. This is what got this game so stale, you can only do things one way, you can only play jobs one way, you can only design dungeons one way, you can only unlock areas one way... it sets a bad precedent and one sure to become stale and boring quickly, as it has.
They also respected XIV's worldbuilding tying it into THAT character and making it logically fit into the XIV universe. Plus I was incredibly happy there because I thought that plot point had been done wrong before. And with that connection, they're not just retelling something XI players have already seen before. I was a fan of Tactics and XII when Ivalice released and I was very happy that while there were obvious easter eggs, they were telling me a new XIV-centric story and not just rehashing those two games. I felt the same with the post-EW IV arc though that one was a *bit* more on the nose. I feel like both XI fans and those who didn't play are getting the best of both worlds here. I'm looking forward to seeing where they go from here.
I liked the music, too. XI seems like it was closer to the older games. So there were times I felt I was listening to something I would hear in say VI or IX as the background music somewhere.
I enjoy being challenged as well. My static did the 24 man together and enjoyed it. Then we went and tried the new EX blind. That has some mechanics that have pretty clear tells that are still fun and challenging. The entire Savage raid tier had fun and challenging mechanics that didn't always rely on having to parse the tell out of visual spam. They are perfectly capable of not having to use that as a crutch for challenge.
No, I agree with you, kind of. I'd also like the mechs to be a little less hectic, but I want class complexity implemented to make up for it. I bet a lot of people dogging on your idea are not looking past what you're saying and considering that it could have other implications. Not that I can blame them with how... liberal the devs have been with the sandpaper towards class complexity recently.
Agreed, but this forum basically seems to want all content to be Extreme tier or higher.
(adding more)
7.1+ is already loaded for them albeit time delayed annoying.
New Extreme
New upcoming Ultimate (next week)
New upcoming Extreme.. I mean Chaotic raid (December)
And now this Alliance ramped up the difficulty.
Oh well, I've only been logging on do to the PeluPelu then back off. At this point, should just let the sub lapse once I get to Bloodsworn with them all things considered. Tomestones are useless after you got the jobs you care about thanks to the every increasing time between patches.
Did not get a single reference in this raid. Prishe is a cinnamon roll, though
That said, fun raid. Mechanics were........ neat, and healing through the whole thing for the first time is as chaotic as it ever is with new content. I do not look forward to this becoming extremely rote as time goes on.
If you think wiping a few times, again on week 1, in a pug is the same as "Savage" i have no idea what to tell you.
Poeple have come to expect so little challenge that anything that requires a modicum of thought is pushed back as Savage.
This is not content that requires a static, that much practice, or optimized gear.
This level of challenge is great for casuals. The fact we can all clear this with bad gear, no practice, and a PUG works just fine. If an extreme end of "I can't be challenged or learn patterns" players dont want to play it, so be it.
You know what the problem is? This game has been criticized to death by hyper casuals that don't want to actually play a game. They want to mindlessly walk through dungeons and raids (That are supposed to be EPIC AND DANGEROUS) and get pretty gear so they can dress up their character and call it good. While there isn't a problem avoiding challenge, if that's what they want to do they should be pushed towards crafting and sight seeing logs that give rewards. That shouldn't be challenging and be a relaxing good time.
But what has actually happened? Time and time again people come in here and complain about endgame content NO MATTER WHAT and time and time again the devs just shrug and take things away from us and give nothing in return. This cycle has led this game to become completely lobotomized for people who actually want to play.
The casual experience of this game should still have a level of danger so the people feel like they are actually in a world filled with monsters and villains that are at least capable of harming you... It should not require raid callouts, or high level organization... But the content should be able to wipe you... Dying is a normal part of a game.
If you think the patch content is "packed" with hardcore content think again. An extreme level fight here and there and 1 Ultimate fight isn't a lot of content.... People here are pointing their guns at the wrong crowd. Criticizing hardcore gamers for getting some content while both sides think they aren't getting much each patch.
This is making the playerbase fight for scraps.
No I don't think the content is anything like Savage having ran a number of Savages myself and regularly participating in Extreme runs with my FC. I also didn't compare the Alliance Raid to Savage either, I simply said if players want a challenge we have those modes in game already.
I found the Raid quite fine, enjoyable actually but I also understand that it may not be as accessible as a lot of players would like. In an ideal world I would like for all parties to have content they can engage in, it's ok to have relaxed stress-free daily and weekly duties and have content that gives challenge... I'm not advocating for removal of challenge, I'm advocating for content for all levels of play.
This may be my favorite Alliance Raid ever.
Point and laugh, but I rage quit because we died like 15 times. I don't want to go back. I'll wait until the next expansion, I guess. It sucked. I havent rage quit anything since Orbonne, so there's that.
I found this raid horrifically boring the entire way through. I suppose it could be due to me having never played XI, but I had never played a DrakenNier game when I did the first two Nier raids and I had a blast with them.
It was very mid. The scenery was great to look at. The fights were forgettable. Felt like the bosses repeated the same 3 mechanics a dozen times, perhaps to avoid a near future issue of people missing out on mechanics once people out-gear the fights like what happened in Myths of the Realm.
I still have to run it again on my second character, maybe it is burnout, but I'm not really excited nor in any rush to do so.
I understand the frustration of those wiping 5+ times or more and people abandoning the instance. However, I will say, I think this is quite rare. In all my years of playing the game, I have never seen this happen, even in week one, for any alliance raid. I'm sure it does happen, don't get me wrong, but I do think these were also unusually unskilled and unlucky parties. I've noticed that the few players who have reported this are all on Dynamis. It could be a total coincidence, but the few times I've ended up in a shockingly terrible party doing daily roulettes in DF, it's when I'm trying to run content on my Dynamis character. I don't know what it is, but I swear that DC is cursed some days.
For everyone else who thinks this raid is too difficult: Wiping a few times during the first week or so of a new Alliance Raid is normal. Expected, even. We're all learning the new mechanics on the fly, and most players are not at max IL gear either. It will get easier with both practice and better gear (for better or worse). It was actually quite abnormal how few wipes there were when Myths of the Realm first dropped. Pretty much every previous raid I saw more wipes on and, if anything, still see the occasional wipe compared to the 6.x series Alliance raids. But please remember that while this is meant to be the kind where you can jump in and play without any preparation, easily accessible content, it is still a raid. It's a step-up in difficulty from dungeons and Trials. It's supposed to be. Genuinely, if you think these raids are too difficult and don't want any of the game play and just want the story, then please consider watching a streamer playing the game or look up YouTube recordings of the raid, or even just wait a month or so for everyone to have better gear and know the fights more so it's easy to get carried even if you mess up. No one is owed an easy, frictionless, stress-free experience at the cost of ruining everyone else's fun, especially after so much midcore content has been eroded from the game over the last few years(and I wouldn't call this midcore content even, just the higher end of normal difficulty content).
Same feeling of nostalgia walking through those different zones and dread from the final bosses ! I love those raids, Ivalice was awesome and this one looks very promising so far :)
A lot of people have been asking for middle ground stuff for a long time. content that doesn't put you to sleep, but also doesn't require the focus, and teamwork of ex/savage. This is what this content is
Give it some time, when people know the raid, and gear is better, then we will get another aglaia sleepo raid. This is content suppose to last us 4-5 months.
It was really difficult the first time i was in, for myself at least.
I did understand some mechanics on the fly but the sword circle indicators are really hard to see fully imho. Maybe i am just blind idk.
Why is there no visible wind on the high plateau in the raid? No wind in hair or clothes of the WoLs. Thats my biggest gripe i have with the raid.
Other then that, thanks for the, in MY opinion, really difficult raid. As everything gotta need time to adjust and learn.
Thank you from my part.
its funny how its on repeat. everytime something new gets released there are people who think its too difficult.
we dont have to look that far back. remember arcadion? there were people too who thought its too difficult and now with more experience and ilvl its suddenly very easy.
in some circles you can see this happening for dungeons as well xD
and yes i died and wiped too in this raid. i actually joined a blind premade alliance from a community with mostly weaker players... we wiped several times and run out of time. its alright though, its just a game. it was fun anyway. great raid!
its the kind of fun you cant get anywhere in the game because dungeons are too easy and too small scale and savage has these high precision body check mechanics, which isnt that much fun either
Do we need accessibility at level 100 though?
I get that some people have problems with the difficulty but it is not different than past A-Raids in stormblood (or even Puppets bunker at launch I would say).
The EW raids and lots and lots of crystal tower have just set a false pretense of what an A-Raid is in my opinion.
Extreme and Savage exist but A-Raids are below that in difficulty as is this one. I think it is in a good spot right now.
Intermittent content between Dungeons and Extremes.
I would even say that the people who cleared it while thinking it was too difficult are far better at the game than they think. Casual yes but absolutely not bad players.
The problems people have is that they did it week 1. Wipes are normal there.
I don’t think the opinions of it being too hard for some are wrong (I can kinda understand it?) but personally I think DT is the difficulty an MMO should have at level 100.
TLDR:
I think players are better than they think and heavily underestimate how good they are at this game.
My opinion on the Raid.
It was great, my new favorite even.
The mechanics were fun, the story interesting (I didn’t play 11) and all in all just great.
Best content in DT right now for me.
I really have to give praise for the devs here.
All I can say is we died multiple times on every boss. I rage quit on the last one. I'm not going to go back until it's hilarious easy because of gear. I don't care anymore. It wasn't a fun experience.
In general, as fights, it was good. Two things I hated though:
1) the story was silly and abrupt and relied 110% on you being an old FF11 fan for the vibes (much like Golbez for FF4 in the 6.X patches), if you didn't play FF11 it had zero connection. Heck with the Neir raid even though it was complete crossover it took the time to actually try and tell some sort of story via the dwarves. This was just wham bam you're in Jeuno, why should I care.
2) Camera angles, some of the mechs were enormous like Prishe's knockup and the sword cleave from the Shadow Lord such that it was extremely annoying to fit everything into the camera view, especially if you were looking somewhere else to heal or rez. They could have had the same mechs but just cut their size/arcs by 25% so it fits a bit easier into the camera.
I never played FFXI, so there's no nostalgia factor for me. Despite that, I can say I find the glimpse into Vana'diel extremely interesting. I'd love to see more of that world (but not badly enough to start yet another MMO from scratch)
Joined a blind run and the fights were challenging. Died a bunch of times, but we made it through, it was a ton of fun. Those bosses really got hands on them, and the pace won't wait for anyone. I assume it's gonna get easier as we master the mechanics, but it was a great day-1 experience.
I agree especially with #2. This was something I had a problem with that I couldn't put my finger on. I kept trying to adjust my HUD to see things better so it would fit and I just couldn't get it right. Did a Copied Factory run and even with Engels I could see everything just fine. The scaling feels too big/zoomed in to see some mechanics properly and zooming out all the way doesn't help (open to suggestions if anyone has any!).
I'm so happy with it, and I love hearing people that are unfamiliar with FFXI enjoyed it as well. I lost my mind at the remastered Ru'Aun Gardens.
It took over an hour, and it made me regret waking up that day. I was in no way expecting perfection. I just want to get it over with. One and done. I wasn't going to farm it. I didn't care. But it was a flash bang effect fiesta. It wasn't fun, and I couldn't get the time I wasted in there back. Plus, I'm pretty sure I annoyed my FC because I rage quit from our FC group doing it. It sucked. I didn't like it. I'm not going to do it again any time soon.
I had the same issues with M2. The fight took 30 years only for us to fail at 3% and have to redo it. After 3 times of that, when we did clear it, I refused to do M3. By then, I was so worn out playing I wanted to dunk my head in boiling water.
I don't find overlaping effect fiestas fun. And I'm thankful every day that this garbage is optional.
Now get your finger pointing and your chuckles out. I'm more than likely going to unsubscribe after this.
Fafnir's tornado phase can go [REDACTED] itself, but the rest of the raid was enjoyable enough. The final boss took me a bit to figure out but I think I'll be comfortable enough with it after one or two more runs.
Also I feel compelled to point out to all the "hard alliance raid = good alliance raid" people that in the long term, this is roulette content. Sure, gear will make it substantially easier, but the last thing this game needs is ANOTHER alliance raid that results in half the players dropping out upon realizing they got it for their roulette today, and that's what's going to happen if SE goes much farther in this direction.
Yeah, I turned them all off, but mine as limited. Titan still flash bangs me, but if I turn it completely off, I can't play at all. It just loses all, I guess, weight to it.
But I have a problem with wasting time. When you're having fun, you don't notice it, but you damn sure do when you're dead on the ground. The game's not fun, then. I get it. Like you said, not everything is for everyone. I just wish I could've taken it like a champ like my friend did. She died way more than I did. They barely cleared the timer, almost ran out from what I heard. I just got to a point where I wanted to do literally anything else. Like I was fantasizing about waking up for my 9 to 5 and freedom from what I was doing in that moment.
I haven't felt this apathetic to content since pre nerf Orbonne.
Honestly if you have trouble with wasting time, it might be better to not rush into the alliance raid week 1 and wait a week or 2 before giving it a shot. You'd be surprised what having just a few experienced people who know what they're doing can do to improve the ability of an entire 24-man group. Just having people to follow, especially in the 2nd and 4th bosses can make a humongous difference. I personally really enjoyed the fight, but if the wasted time was your main issue maybe just take your time going into it so you can enjoy your experience more. Maybe blind alliance raid runs just aren't your thing, but having more difficult mechs to figure out day 1 wiping over and over is something a lot of other people like, so I wouldn't treat it as an inherent flaw in the fight design.
If I made it seem like it was a flaw with the game, it wasn't intentional. Difficulty is subjective. I just didn't enjoy the difficulty I faced. This is if you like pickles or not. I just gave my feedback. I hated it. It wasn't fun. The alliance was toxic. People were genuinely confused and treated like todlers.
But it's irrelevant. I think I'm done in general. I'm not having fun at all anymore. All I have is beast tribes and crappy pvp rewards. I'm getting sick of the condescending community. After 11 years I'm done.
Have a good day or night. Whatever it applies to.
Was happy with the FF11 nostalgia and the raid was really fun as well. Made me think about reactivating my FF11 account again to mess around with that for a month.
