Followup report is up. States the maintenance should end at 12:50 AM PST. So soon.
Edit: Game is up.
If they had plans to expand server capacity, that means they had already projected the need for it. Where did they get the data for such a projection? They had the sales numbers, they had years of data showing MAU growth and the rate at which MAU was increasing. So you're basically calling their market analysts idiots. But you're also stuck on the spike from 2021. Which would have had absolutely nothing to do with their plans to expand server capacity because that was already planned by the summer, they had mentioned it prior to that.
You white knights really need to get off the "muh population spike" and look at the proceeding years growth numbers. But that's obviously asking for far too much of your side. You white knights also need to stop gaslighting people.
Blizzard's fall is irrelevant, as has been pointed out over and over and over and over. But you can't take your blinders off to see anything but that. And when that's all you can see it blinds you to how weak your own position is. It illustrates a lack of understanding and knowledge of MAU, population data, and how those are used to predict needs far in advance. There was nothing unavoidable about this if SE had not treated FFXIV like the red-headed step child of the company, like they've been doing for years.
What baffles me most, though, is how I've repeatedly brought up the previous years' growth and rate of growth increase, but you and yours just outright ignore that and tunnel vision on "muh 2021 spike". It's like having a broken leg but you're more worried about the papercut on your finger.
Case in point....
I wouldn't consider a growth rate tripling in 4 months, a papercut.Quote:

The only one here gaslighting is you. There was no indication the growth would be this exponential and they were on track to grow with their playerbase with current numbers. YOU are the one calling their analysts idiots since you're claiming they had this information yet did not stress the importance of huge growth tolerances.
Call it whatever you like, you're provably wrong.
Saying that a tripling of active player pop is "irrelevant" shows exactly how little you understand about the problem and how much of your "truth" is based on infantile rage.
SE was planning well in advance for the growth necessary to maintain current trends. They then got hit with a unpredictable and unpreventable storm of lack of supply as well as huge increase in demand.
Alright so just to address your analytics approach, I did a little research. How accurate these numbers are, I don't know. But https://mmo-population.com/r/ffxiv/stats is the source I'm using for this.
The growth alone, in the last 6 months, has gone from 26 million, to 35 million. Thats a 9 million increase in subscriber count.
That's a bigger growth than 2 years from 2017 to 2019. In a quarter of the time.
Again, How can you sit here and tell me, that the exodus from WoW has played no part in this?
Many people complain. I'm sure Square Enix heard it loud and clear. Seeing some people repeatedly wasting energy complaining the same thing instead of looking for workarounds won't get it fixed anytime soon. Some solutions may work for them. I already got mine.
Not even once with 2002 on Tonberry server on day 2 onwards. I queue with around 700 in line trying to beat the peak hours.
we are back in action baby
aaaand theres a queue
I'm happy to report that the 2002 error still persist, seeing as I got one at 630 in queue (which ofc closed the entire game as it always does), and after coming back to the login screen I was placed at exactly 700. Nowhere near as bad as being at place 1 and then getting kicked to 7000+, but I'm sure that good ol classic will continue to plague us in the foreseeable future.
Yes, we're aware. Thank you for continuing to beat the dead horse. This will hopefully fix the errors kicking people out of line though. If not, we all just have to buckle down and deal. I get you think the release was a mistake (referring to your first post), but it's getting old now.
There will still be queues for months. I don't know why people think they will magically vanish.
That works if you can get past Datacenter selection which I have not been able to do in several days during prime US playing times. I 2002 when I try to select a data center. I have a character on Kujata (Same DC as Tonberry) I can't get to the DC to play it. I am hoping the maintenance fixes that 2002 before ever seeing a queue problem. Will know this evening.
as I pointed out, likely to you in another thread, the growth normally, is an easy prediction. If you look at any chart on population in the game yes, it was an upward trend, most definitely. growth over time was a nice, steady, upward trend. due to this trend, they planned for the OCE servers. there was, as you say, no "massive increase in growth" prior to the middle of this year in ANY of the population charts I have seen for FFXIV. upward trend yes, the spike that happened end of July, early August of this year would have been difficult to predict in any model.
you can say how easy it was to predict, but I have seen articles or blogs about a 30-40% player increase, hardly a reliable sort of indication, but Steam says the active player base by their records has TRIPLED since early 2021.
I say that defies any predictable increases. and if you saw that coming, you are wasted in your current work and need to work in that field.
on the part of server issues for years, sure, they have had, and direct, as their budget allows, resources to do things like plan for an OCE server.
they SHOULD have done something about their login servers, I agree.
What's sick in out society is it has become normalized for everyone to turn on each other instead of pointing the finger at the real issues. The fact is this problem isn't going away anytime soon and there were servers near capacity back I'm stormblood. I'm forced to play in little spurts at 4 am to get ahead and its ruining the whole experience. Imagine reading a book with a timer. So what's end game gonna be like? Farming badges on a short time limit, stretching content you could get done in a day into a week's worth because real life? This whole situation is abysmal at best and it's not the players fault so just remember that before you start smashing each other over the head with accusations and hatred. We have way too much or that irl which is going to have severe consequences soon so don't continue it here.
They made it worse ... now im getting error 90002 while in quehe, was at 700, jumped to 4900. Its the first error message im getting personally at lobby.
This statement just shows to me you either haven't played MMO's at all until now or are just ignorant beyond belief due to your temper tantrum.
Please stop.
Wow launch, WoW WoD launch were hands down worse than this since you obv seem to be a WoW refugee and seem to forget where you came from.
Nice, I tried tonight and made the mistake of walking away during a queue and got a 2002. Logged in once, lobby server error, kicked out. I then logged in again, same Lobby Server error, tried a third time and got passed that and the queue had reset back up to over 5k. :( This is after two hours of wait. Not gonna do that again, back to wow for now I guess. :( arghh this is frustrating!
The fix was an illusion!
