They do.

The problem here is people aren't happy with the amount of upgrades they managed to get in their run.
So instead of completing it and doing it over from floor 1, they wipe the group (or just leave the instance and take the penalty if they're slightly less inconsiderate), just so they can start back over on floor 41 and perhaps get better random rolls on upgrades the next time around.

They really do think too highly of the playerbase, now i'd rather not they assume everyone is like this but stop and think about stuff like can be exploited.

As for the op i really don't know what to suggest than perhaps go with friends.

I'm sure people enjoy seeing "unchanged" on 41-50 when they only need 2 more weapon upgrades....The reality is that it takes less time to just leave and wait than it does to go from 1-40. Do I defend failing the boss on purpose? No. But leaving honestly when you only need 2 upgrades is becoming less and less of an issue to me since this oversight could've been easily handled by the dev team by making it so that the person gets the upgrade to the uncapped if one is already capped. Dont hate the player....hate the game.

I am not saying that the Japanese fan base is all polite and proper, but you always hear stories of people who transfer to a Japanese server and glow with how much better their DF runs are and the like.


At any rate, the devs are already planning to make it easier to upgrade aetherpool gear, so this is gonna be a moot point.

The groups I was in vote abandon on floor 49, since lots of people are in the same boat, it succeeds. Don't think I'm ever going to find a group that will do floor 50.

I guess they should lower the rng on silver coffers even more the more times they wipe, leave the instance, get kicked, and/or vote abandon until all 50 floors are done.

you can easily duo the whole thing with a friend. Enter with sch and warrior, get some practice and its a cakewalk if you dont get too cocky in the later levels

plus, it makes way more fun since its no completely blind faceroll of all areas

I've run with a matched party 4 times now, and I've never had this happen to me.
Nor have I personally met anyone who experienced it.

However, on the JP forums, there were a couple of people saying this happened to them.
So apparently it does occur even on JP servers.

With a few different reward for getting to threw floor 50. I don't understand why people cry and do this when they don't get what they want 1st time around.
Now if you have all the rewards form going to 50 beside the weapon I could see it.

But Ya I agree the fight needs to be changed and people need to be reported.

Gladly I've made one trip to 50 so far and they talked about people leaving. If they didn't see one silver chest. we got a silver on 49 and we cleared the boss.

That won't be enough. If people get no upgrades from 41-49 they're still going to wipe the run/afk/ask for kick/whatever anyway because if they retry they might get upgrades PLUS the guaranteed upgrade at 50. They won't settle for just that guaranteed one, given how many you need in total.

They will need to try a little harder than that.

Another thing they could try doing is make the exits allow you another option to leave the dungeon but without saving your progress and therefore forfeiting your exp/tomes/potsherd rewards as if you had just quit the instance (which is something you can already do by just not clicking the exit, but most people don't seem to know that). At least this way, the people who do not wish to complete their run might actually be inclined to finish it for the sake of the people that do want to complete it, knowing that they don't have to reset back to floor 1. It won't actually fix the insane RNG factor involved with upgrades but at least it will hopefully get some people to stop resorting to underhanded methods to not complete the run.

Where there's a chance to get more, players will fight against the rng to get it.

Last night I had the unfortunate experience of having to do floors 41-49 4 times in a row due to bad luck wasting a total of 1+ hr.

1st time: No silver chest dropped and wiped at 49, was it on purpose? I don't know

2nd: I finally got 30/30, but 1 person dropped at floor 49, thus leaving only 3 members. Rather than going to the final room the group decided to explore. Triggered at trap that spawned monsters and wiped.

3rd: Joined in progress @ floor 49 with 30+ min remain ... only 1 person refused to proceed further by not entering the stone of transferrance. Wanted to be kicked, but everyone already used up their vote-kick so s/he purposefully pulled mobs to try to wipe the group. Did not work and I wasted 30m on that waiting for time to run out.

4th: Finally cleared it despite not having 1 upgrade at all.

I am still sitting at 30/29 and once I finally get the mount and hopefully at least 1 upgrade to finally get a Padali weapon, I won't be touching PotD for a bit.

I had a premade group of 3 people...

I'm glad the other guy didn't wipe us (as we wanted the EXP and our first clear)

He at least asked for a kick.

I cleared it thankfully the first time. Second time we had quite an adventurous time getting to the boss room with my ninja, two whms and a smn. Finally get to boss and three of us were ok with our upgrades. Apparently the last one wasn't as he purposely stood in every AoE to cause a wipe to the party. 45 minutes of work down the drain with nothing to show for it.

Doesn't help that my luck with RNG has been frickin terrible. 2nd run and I'm at 23/20 because the palace truly hates me (will probably take 5 more to hit 30/30 knwoing my luck )while others are at full 30/30 after two runs.

I first thought the palace was fun. But after one run you realize just how poorly thought out it is.

2) Make clearing more enticing

It will also depend on when the changes are implemented. If they wait too long, people will lose interest.

I think if they at least had 1 guaranteed silver chest per floor the issue wouldn't be as bad. The early floors they give em out like candy but when your gear is 20+ they do you no good. Then when you hit floor 30+ you seem to be lucky to even find 1 and even if you do gotta hope it isn't a mimic, blows up in your face or even worse if the upgrade fails anyway.

In fixed parties I've taken to telling everyone to hold onto affluence and fortune for the later floor blocks for this reason.

ive seen it happen couple times black mage had to move two steps to avoid in health aoe n yet just stood there, had a healer never even heal any1 during the whole fight even tho we didnt have a tank... people are ditching after finishing floor 49 aswell because they dont wanna have to reset dungeon.. so i assume people are purposely wiping last boss so they can avoid the penalty for ditching

I believe this, sadly, happened to a friend and I's run earlier. One person begged to be kicked at floor 49, and when no one obliged suddenly a horde of mobs were "pulled" and we wiped. For me, whose finally starting to see the light at the end for potsherds (and really both of us, who actually received good upgrades that run), it was frustrating. We eventually re-qued, but started to suspect our new group to bail/wipe on the later floors because none of them got any upgrades and were quite eager to express their sentiments about their bad luck as time went on. Luckily, they did not.

I am in the same boat. I really just want the mount, but grinding for it has me really close to a Padjal Weapon. Same ratio actually. I can see myself not bothering with it much afterwards unless it's with friends.

No reason this rng cancer should be locked behind current level, blame the system.

Unfortunately, just how that's going to work is still vague, so I'm not holding my breath on that being helpful considering SE's penchant to nerf things that didn't need nerfing while ignoring the real problematic things (see: nerfing anima FATE step and leaving unidentified step untouched). It could simply mean that they're adjusting the floor weights so that your lower upgrades can be gotten more easily, but 25+ is still basically going to be 41-50 only.

I think they will need to do a combination of things to prevent this from happening. Chests will have to have some chance of upgrading your gear regardless of level, and all bosses should provide some rank-up. However, too much of a bonus on early floors and that's all people will run since they are so quick to complete with a group. I'd do something like this, floors 1-10 chests would have a 10% chance to increase rank after you're capped and the boss would always give a random rank to either arm or armor. Floors 11-20 would be similar but the chance of a chest upgrade would be bumped to 20%, 21-30 would boost that to 30% and the boss would give a +1 to both arm and armor. Keep the 30% upgrade rate for floors 31-40 but have the boss reward +2 to arm and armor. As for the final boss it should boost both arm and armor by +3.

SE should be jumping on the top of this b4 it gets any worse imo... block any1 found guilt of it for 3 days no deep dungeons problem solved

I had someone leave at the end of floor 49 on my first run because they "didn't get enough silver chests" causing us to disband. I reported the person and the GM told me that it's not a reportable offence

There IS actually a way to clear without having to restart from floor 1. You just have to log out for at least 10 minutes after killing the boss (but not going through the exit portal), and upon logging back in, you'll be back in Quarrymill without anything saved.

Or make the rewards for beating the boss enough that people will want to finish (they are already making floor 50 give upgrades to aetherpool, which will help)

The system isn't great but it in no way shape or form excuses griefing. SE has said that they are going to make it easier to get upgrades, if people are being assholes for the sake of "efficiency" they should just wait till then, not like getting a glowing weapon actually does anything but help an alt job.

In the meantime, this could work out waaaayyy way better for normal people if they actually took reports seriously, hopefully can actually look at evidence, then hand out temp bans with say 3 infractions. Perma bans would be kinda extreme considering how people are liable to troll and report for shits and giggles, but there needs to be consequences for this kind of behavior, it doesn't belong in our game.

Has there been any indication of a timescale from SE for their first changes?

Edit - ok, just seen the patch 3.35 hotfix notification Jul 26th 4:00 - 8:00 GMT

Finished my weapon and also got the mount and one minion so far. Not once did I leave a group. Yes it's time consuming but its a game right? If you don't enjoy the process then don't do it - don't screw other people up to shortcut it.

Every floor is a bit too much of a safety blanket, although I think 10 is too much. Maybe every 5 floors would of been a better place to save at.

Problem is that will be classed as an exploit and potentially get people banned. If you have completed the floors you should be able to select where you enter at.

How is it an exploit?
