Yes it is disappointing there is nothing new along these lines included as a part of this new relic. They really need to reconsider how they handle this in the future. Obviously it takes development dollars to do but that should be part of what our subs are paying for.
HEY THEY ADDED THIS RUBBERBAND MINIGAME IN THE PATCH, IF YOU DON'T ENJOY IT, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM!!
The logic of these forums so far seem to be and that would probably derail to be...
But have you done all positions? achievements? did you get all ruberband colors? hey, it might be the most boring content in history but, it's content!
The only excuse it is giving me is to unsub and uninstall the game. Se went too far on that one and I lost any hope of them coming to their senses.Quote:
It's a grind, but honestly this gives me an excuse to actually go through and do the rest of the beast tribe quests.
I'm going to say what I said in the other thread.
It will take you a couple months doing an hour's worth of dailies you were probably already doing anyway. The most efficient way is to a bit of each: beast tribes, Alex, law. That keeps it interesting and doesn't bog you down doing any one thing repeatedly.
If you want it NOW NOW, then it does suck, yeah. But I think it was designed to suck if you were to grind it out over the course of a few weeks.
The main problem is that it will be outdated by the time you get it unless you rush it. This is an ASSUMPTION, however. It's based on the way gear goes in the patches based on past experience, but we've not had a relic in 3.xx yet. It may become/remain BiS for the rest of 3.xx, scaling with the savage drops, maybe surpassing them after a series of tasks released each patch. Maybe after getting the initial weapon, the remaining patches will be less grindy or time intensive. We don't know, but that would be similar to what happened in 2.xx, so I think there's a good chance.
IF the 3.2 patch notes indicate that there will be weapons better than this and this was just filler until 3.2 since 3.1 was generally a flop, then yeah, get pissed then. That's more than fair. But we simply don't know that's the case yet. In fact, wait until 3.2 if you want to potentially not waste your time/money. That's also a legit option. Compaining and wanting a nerf? Eh, I'm not seeing it.
the first people will have it after 1 week anyway
I mean to be honest I've come to see this games model ISNT going to change. I play it mostly for the story now after being let down patch after patch,
I'm going to complete the relic grind because I want the relic but I will not enjoy it for the most part. As I rarely enjoy grinding tomes.
There's just no innovation. It's just a cash grab and hook at this point as they're afraid to do anything new
Wow. I truly intended to get two of these relics and spent the past monthish grinding out a 2nd Zeta. I might have well just spent that whole time shooting myself in the foot, it seems like that would have been a better waste of my time.
We've basically been running the exact same content since 2.0 just retextured
The main issue isn't that you have to grind. It is that you have to grind obsolete retarded stuff (fates, beastribe quest, 2.0 dungeons, normal alex, ...) a retarded amount of time for something wich will be obsolete in a few month (the ratio of reward versus effort is less than 0).Quote:

This is part of the problem however, I'd say mission acomplished, you will still be doing this content and be giving them money, your wallet speaks more than your voice here, since basically every comment, complaint goes to deaf ears, since they never reply or address anything that isn't glamour, hairstyles and minion requests.
Actually this is what is going to happen unless they were lying to crafters about improving battle gear. 3.2 is where the ilvl will be raised, and the 210 relic will be outclassed by at least tomes, and likely raid and craft gear.
I do agree that this would've been okay had we had this earlier, like 3.0, but this much grind of the same stuff we're had for 5 months, given how this treadmill is designed, is a step too far.
Also: How does one we say "Atma is a terrible thing and we don't want it anymore!" In Japanese?
I hope with this Yoshi-P learned his lesson to not be nice with players by making a new relic instead sticking with previous relic for upgrades and keep them going for who really want to do them.
After reading what people were saying, it would lead to a new relic every new expansion to please the guys that didn't bother to do them and saw that became BIS weapons later. This will repeat once again and I hope they don't nerf or reset relic again because of those people.
If you want to do the relic then do, if you don't want then don't come crying to forums that is a hassle and a lot to do. And to be honest, you guys are crying that there is nothing to do so SE gave you something to keep you busy but you refuse to do? Nice one, nice one lol
Plus this weapon is 210 not 200 or 205, inferior to savage. You should be happy for them in most of the cases, are BiS already and who knows if we will be able to play with stats again later.
Did you read the second half of my post? It's only less than zero IF it becomes obsolete in a few months which we totally don't know. If it does, then yes. You are absolutely right. I, for one, don't think it will. I probably won't get to work on this until I know for sure, though.
Im sorry you feel this way.
It is a relic item... the most powerful you will obtain. It is meant to be time consuming not everyone is meant to get it, because reasons. Last but not least this is an mmo. They take TIME to play. I am tired of this generation of gamers that want everything with minimal effort and time investment.
Before 3.15: Wahhhhhhhhhhh. XIV is boring and no content. I have no reason to log in. Fix it pls SE.
After 3.15: Wahhhhhhhhhhh. Relics take too long, I dont want to log in everyday. Fix it pls SE.
Do it, or dont . Easy. Your RL wont change if you have a relic in XIV or not, so im not sure what the fuss is about.
To get the relic, you have to do boring content an absurd number of times. All this for a weapon that will be outclassed in the shortest amount of time, until it is updated, to only match the current ilvl of content which will require ANOTHER absurd grind of boring content before getting outclassed in the shortest amount of time.
you realize that the esotheric gear will replace the law at the 3.2... meaning people will be able to get a i210 in less of 1 week and 2-3 week later the new tomes weapon.... that the model they have follow soo far. meaning all this quest insane... its ridiculous not because it recquire an amount of time stupid... but because in 2-3 month.... it will worth nothing. all this time invest into an item that will be useless for the 3.2...
the worst is people have asked while the relic 2.X to avoid grind, to offer us a true feeling of accomplishement throught the quest... the first part of the relic the one where we did get the i80 was feeling like this... it was recquiring to complete fight that was giving us a feeling to earn the right to have the relic...
but after that... we only did get a long and boring grind, why? because at 2.0 the raider did cry a river because the non raider was able to get a weapon equal to them without enter raid. that the truth behind this....
and it where we reach the pinnacle of the irony... recently Yoshida did give the number of person that really do care for high level raid... and it's a minority. and instead to work on true content that will satisfy most of the community we still get boring content while the raider receive a content for them.
for make simple all the endgame is for about 8-9% of the community! how is logical! people was expecting more from the relic and we did get more... more grind. if they want to give us this sort of long and boring grind for the relic... this weapon need to be the best weapon we can get in the game and not only for 2-3 month.
First I'd like to thank you for your mature and thoughtful addition to the discussion.
Those two points are irrelevant. There is no new content (I mean other than a glamour that we cannot see for awhile), and things are still (if not more) boring. [Correction: There is that Scholasticate new content]
I do appreciate that the new relic has focus, it's a clear goal that you know what you need to do and isn't subject to things like RNG/Time-gating or wasting your time waiting for fates to spawn. However, the sheer number of things you need is quite high imo.
This game encourages you to play multiple classes on one character, but then does everything in its power to prevent you from actually playing more than one job. Grinding one of these is ridiculous. 2+? No thanks.
See you all in Alex NM.
I mean I probably will do it but I may unsub for a while as well.
Savage does not impress me at all having cleared coil pre echo. Gear is outdated way too fast and heck... If I just wait a couple months it will be 10x easier to obtain everything because they ALWAYS nerf it.
I would gladly take some grind if it were mixed with some skill but 90% of the content in this game is SOLELY grinding.
I don't think people expected it easy to get, it's just the predictability of how they addressed it. People hated doing these things in 2.0 because they were boring, and they literally carbon copied the exact same things into 3.15 and ignored what people actually enjoyed of 2.0 relic quest chain which was, hydra, Chimera and primals. No one liked Atmas, no one liked grinding old dungeons, no one likes grinding tomes doing the same dungeons, people dislikes Alexander and they went on with it as an excuse to hopefully liven up the dead areas, which they are at fault themselves because of how incredibly fast they abandon their own content.
I have played several Korean MMO's which are basically the epitome of grind, and even so, they are at least way better than this, at least their grinds were changing, unlike here.
Unless the said content you have to do over, and over, and over again, i'm sure you'll get bored to the point where you just drop it and say fuck it. Something that I will not like to do. Grinding the same things and over, like 800 Alex runs, will take a toll on you after a while. There's only so much one can do before they just drop it all together. Idk who designed the last step in SE, but they need to re-evaluate the requirements.
Lol i suppose i am just one of "those people" who views this grind and thinks back to the ffxi days where a single relic was a year+ commitment complete with a 100+ million gil requirement and countless hours of harsh grinding and thinks.. people find ffxiv's grind bothersome...? -grabbyhands- bring the fates!
Yes it is time consuming, there could be a nice quest chain to do instead with a story and such that would be amazing.. but it is also sadly unlikely because square /is/ going to make these a deliberate pain in the backside to get every time.
Except, following the trend that every bit of what people has predicted has happened, I would seriously doubt it's going to be any different, since SE has failed each time so far to prove us wrong, which is the problem, the content has become so monotonous and unchanging that it's predictable, nothing is surprising, nothing is impressive, there's nothing changing.
So that said epic mob if was like so hard like A4S you would be happy to do even knowing that just 1% or less cleared A4S? Or wouldn't those guys in forums cry saying that boss was too hard and demand nerf? Or maybe after 6-12 months that you would be so overgeared and could finally kill it?
There isn't many options to make this kind approach if you want to relic take a while to be completed. Is either grind or a impossible mob to kill that just 1% would imagine to kill with their skills and dedication gating everyone else. But if this was the case you weren't on that 1% what you would do? Cry in forum? Give up on it?
Yeah... seems easy right? -_-
I'm all for stuff that requires effort but i started the quest and have been grinding fates in western coerthas since the servers came up and haven't seen a single luminous crystal yet.
It gets to a point where bad RNG just goes to disheartening and makes you want to not play anymore
that's the thing about video games. if you want people to grind it, each individual piece has to be fun.
saying Kirin is something to do is ridiculous, the EX Primal fights is the thing you're doing. Kirin is a reward for doing that thing multiple times.
it is the fault of SE if certain parts of the thing to do is not fun.
MMOs are time sinks. However your concern with it being outdated within the next patch is a very valid one. If they could say something on that, that would be nice.Quote:
It is literally going to take months of grinding to get this relic
He's likely referring to Chimera or Hydra, those weren't raid tier difficulty they were just right. But seems everything nowdays should be cakewalk dificulty, as you are basically stating.
People claims they need their easy content because they don't have time for raids, yet just by roughly looking at this, I could never hope to have enough time to ever grind these relics, since the amount of time heavily surpasses the time I spend raiding.
Not that I would want to anyways since these grind tasks are massively boring.
Yeah, raid scene's half dead and my static needs the folk willing to run it. If relics were brought in at 3.0, it might have been less absurd, but this is stuff that is 5 months old, coupled with some of the most dull nonsense this game had to offer. The schedule of releases suggest a raise in ilvl for 3.2 and another raid tier being introduced.meaning an i210 weapon is going to be outdated in stats, if not feasibility.
If they were expecting this of players, this should have been out at around 3.0. Not when people are tiring of the content.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that the relic was cooked up last minute to give everyone complaining about the lack of things to do in 3.1 things to do. It is my hope that they will get more attention to detail in future patches. That would be my request to SE anyway, not that the grind is terrible or that it be nerfed. For all we know, it could end up being a weapon ten or twenty ilvls higher than savage drops by the end of 3.xx. Then the risk/reward ratio would be fine, right? And a nerf to the early steps would break the gear economy. IMHO, it's simply too soon to tell. I'm personally going to wait a patch to get more info on the expected progression.
