WHY DO YOU REFUSE TO LET US GET FULL HUNT CREDIT SOLO

Don't think increasing the health pools will do much good. It's already been done once before, when hunts first came out.

There are several reasons why it sucks to party up for hunts.
1. Sometimes I'll shout several times and never get invites.
2. When I pony up and take a leadership position, often times I'll continually invite people who are shouting. As soon as I send an invite, after only a few seconds, they've already been scooped up.
3. Now put all this together when your average S rank stays up for very short periods of time thanks to people who pull early. More and more people rush in, doing more and more damage. Trying to invite people starts to really suck up time you could spend alternatively dealing damage or healing, trying to rack up hate.

Having it all based on enmity just kind of sucks because of all this. I think the best way to go about it would just be to lower the threshold required to receiving a good "grade."

Because those roulettes literally exist to help lower level players get parties for dungeons. Queuing as more than one would defeat the entire point behind their existence. This does not support you're point.

and Im still wondering. If I want to level my dps in low level roulette (about 30min+ queue time on my server) am I not allowed to do hunts cause hunts are "group content where you group up for 30 seconds then disbands"
Hunts would be a great way to kill time during long queues so I can actually not see a reason not to let anyone who tags it get full rewars

There are no solo roulettes. You must be matched with other players on the DF to do any roulettes.

Some roulettes will not let you queue with your friends to abuse low level players, and rightly so, and in return you get your bonus for helping other players. But there is no solo roulette.

But not being in a party does not mean you are playing with them either. But group rewards require you to be a group. This much should be obvious. But if you are in a party you are certainly playing with the people in that party at the very least. And it certainly makes no sense to ask for group rewards to be given to players playing solo.

What I mean by solo ia that I cant queue up with my rl friends. We need to queue up at the same time and pray to the gods that we end up in the same group. people with friends are being punished cause there are players with no friends. Anyways this is off topic I brought it up cause some peoples replies makea me think that being in a group for 30 seconds is more important because its "group content" than being avle to do roulettes with friends. And that person I replied to said in his reply that "just get a group for any content you wanna do and kill the hunt before queuing"

Hunts are NOT what you do when you are waiting for a queue. That is just so wrong, and you will force the other people to wait for your hunt to finish or withdraw and make them wait some more. If you are going to hunt, hunt. If you are going to queue on the DF, do that, but not both.

And hunt parties that disband after 30 seconds are totally stupid. You get a hunt party, you stay in the hunt party, it works better that way. The idiots that don't understand you see them shout over and over at the next A rank you go to, and you wonder why people do NOT invite them. They are being nuisance and making things hard on themselves. Find a hunt group and stick with it, share information in the LS.

That is so funny. How many noobs have died at the noobclaw? I have to res them all the time and it is just a watered down version of T6 blighted, but it is so infamously known as the noobclaw for a reason. If they add meteors like in T9 where it will insta-wipe everyone, you get no end to the QQ on these forums. Heck people still can't get meteors right in CT.

I like how you make arguments as though your way is the only way to play - anyone else's style of playing is wrong, and they should be smote to death for even trying to suggest it. Lol.

There are people who sit around, doing other activities, waiting for mark positions to be called. They wait until the information is fed to them, be it linkshell, shout, or etc. Then, they show up, sometimes ignore the fact there is a party findr and shout for an invite, participate in the hunt for credit - rinse and repeat.

There are people who are trying to do a specific type of content (queue), and they decide to hunt on the side. Maybe they help, or maybe they sit until mark called.

Then, there are people in full parties, actively searching for marks, sharing information with others through linkshells or shout, and wait for others to show up for credit. These people may do this for hours!

So, we've got "The Lazy", the "Not fully invested", and the "Doing all the work". Tell me, why do all of these deserve "Full Credit"?

Also, "Soloers" who can't kill the mark on their own, don't deserve full credit on their own.

Solo roulettes, as it pertains to this discussion (and most others for that matter), are roulettes that you can only enter solo and are therefore required to remain solo for the entire time you're waiting in queue for them. You'll only be in a group after you've entered the dungeon, but we weren't talking about the dungeon content here, but rather the queue time.

If you're queueing for a solo roulette, then you cannot join a group without losing your queue. Players get frustrated if a 30 second hunt has to cost them 30 minutes or more of the DF queue.

Because of waiting? Really? It's about the fastest possible thing people could be doing during the queue wait. Currently, people do FATEs, or levequests, or crafting, etc. any of which take longer to finish and accept the DF queue pop than a hunt would. If it weren't for the disconnect between being required to remain solo while in queue and virtually required to be in a group for hunts, then hunts would be the perfect way to fill in the queue waiting time.

The only hunt that is meant to be solo'd is your weekly hunt.


A and S ranks were meant to be downed by parties. This is why you can't get full credit for being solo. The hunt system was not developed or meant to be that way.

But there's no association between whether someone's in the "actively searching, sharing information" or "wait until the information is fed to them, show up" categories with whether they're in a group or solo. You have both those sorts of people who are solo and both those sorts of people in groups.

There doesn't need to be one. If you can't kill a hunt solo, you don't deserve full credit hunting solo. It doesn't matter if they are fully invested in helping or being lazy. If they were fully invested they'd be in a party or trying to recruit a party. Also, someone who is queued for a duty, "forced to hunt solo", isn't fully invested in the hunt anyway. They are hunting to pass the time to do get into their queue. Why do they deserve full credit when hunting isn't their main focus? Why should they get full credit over those actually doing most, if not all, of the work?

What if they ARE the one doing all the work? You're still trying to equate whether people are solo or not with how actively involved they are, and that's simply a meaningless comparison, as the one has nothing to do with the other. Why do you seem to think that hunting wouldn't be their main (or only) focus during that half hour or hour or however long? It's not like waiting in a queue takes any focus. The queue is simply what's happening in the background, where the player can't do anything about it, anyway.

The developers have stated that open world content is designed to give you something to do while waiting in long queues or party finders.

You cannot hunt while waiting in your queue due to the credit system not allowing this.

In what way is a player 'entitled' if they expect the game to fulfill its basic design goals?

Simple, because it screws over hunt LS's monopolies on Allied Seals. That's the only motive at work here.

I'm not. I thought I put it pretty clear already. It doesn't matter how invested a solo player is. They're solo. They don't equate to anything but themselves.

It's a group activity. If they can't clear the content solo, they don't deserve the full reward of being solo.

Man are we playing video games, or doing work?

FATEs are also a public group activity. Many FATEs can't reasonably be completed solo, but you can still achieve the gold reward for them while solo.

Whether or not open world content requires more than one person to clear was never relevant to how it disseminates rewards.

When Hunt groups weren't at critical mass, in 2.4, you could also easily achieve full credit on any S or A rank solo, despite it requiring multiple players to defeat. It's clear that the ability to battle these monsters and receive their rewards without a party was part of the intended design - which breaks when you put Carbontwine/Sand/et al into Hunting.

You are correct! Though, I wouldn't say "many" there are a select number of fates where it would be impossible to challenge solo without anyone else around. I'm not saying several solo players can't win, but doing it literally on your own would be ridiculous. But if you apply this same logic to hunts. Why should several solo players challenge a hunt mark? Why don't they group up, anyway, and help each other reach the same goal? I do this with B-ranks, and I can solo B-ranks. A quick party never hurt anyone.

Whether you or anyone thinks it's "fair" or not isn't relevant. The system fails at its basic design goal (to create filler content while waiting for queues) by punishing players who try to do the content while queued.

And that design is intended for a reason. Splitting the pool of players between "Hunt" and "anything but hunt" and not letting them mix wait times creates a host of cascading negative effects in the game's atmosphere for many players - see, when you queue, you aren't just providing something for yourself. You're adding another player to the available pool of players dungeon runners can play with! So by being forced to not queue, you're making dungeons harder for everyone who wants to do them, not just you personally. Likewise, if players could enter and accept queues while also doing the hunting activity and getting serious rewards - as the design intends - there would be significantly less players at hunts, making it a better activity for everyone.

Also, the allegory to join in progress doesn't work - you get incredibly substantial rewards for your time by doing an in progress dungeon queue, especially a roulette. 100 Soldiery or 75 Poetics for half the time spent? That's practically "Full credit" for the dungeon's primary reward currency, especially in Expert roulette, where all the Poetics reward are rear-loaded.

And that's just, like, your opinion, man. If what I, or anyone else, thinks is not relevant, then that means our reasoning is also irrelevant. Ergo, what you think about the system meeting its design goal, and reasoning behind it is irrelevant. I'm not trying to sound immature here, but if you disregard what others think and feel, then why should anyone consider anything you have to say? On a side note, what about chocobos? Would leveling a chocobo be considered open world content? It's something many would like to do while queued, but cannot without being withdrawn from duty. There are a lot of variables to what you can and cannot do while solo, solo-queued, partied, and party-queued.

It's FATE mechanics, only it's like trying to get Gold on Svara, which means you're gonna need to either be in a party or spend at least 40% of her life bar wailing on her to get your Gold / full credit.

They just copy and pasted the mechanics over, removed the obvious "CIRCLE HERE! KILL ME KILL ME!" signal, and that's how it works. Did people solo back at launch and get Golds on FATEs? Not very likely, with all those zerglings. Party up, or pout on the sidelines with what you really contributed to the fight as your just reward.

How so do you figure that? Nobody is talking about soloing the hunt mark alone. They're talking about hunting it together with a group of friends exactly the same as they would be and contributing exactly as much as they would be, if they and their friends were partied together. How can you figure they're making any less of a contribution based solely on which of those friends do or don't appear in the party list on the corner of their screen, when they're doing exactly the same thing in the fight either way?

How are you yourself contributing any more just by being in a party with people than you would be if you were doing the exact same content together with those exact same people, but not partied?

Completely agree with this and that you should be able to get full credit while playing solo. One way to mitigate this though is to let players join a party while in the queue, just like they should be able to use their chocobo while in a queue. Not letting people change party status when you joined a queue solo might be the worst design decision in the game.

Yes, and last I checked, no one is arguing that you shouldn't be able to queue with your chocobo out. It's been one of the top demanded game features since release, and the only reason it hasn't been done is due to supposed complexity of network code. I see no reason why demanding the ability to hunt solo in the exact same vein is so controversial, as they're the same feature group with the same purpose - "open world content where you burn time and eventually get a reward while waiting for a queue".

No hunts are more like the NM's in FFXI you wait for them to spawn and they spawn in random area's.

I am talking more like the sky gods thing with the ??? though people can go farm the item up, there is no double dipping as I said the people who defeat the ??? monster gets a cool down icon until it disappears. They can go hunt another monster until that cool down vanishes they can't kill the same monster.

Make the cool down the same time as the respawn.

As for the 1 hit full credit thing I agree, I believe that it should not be like that for hunts.

As for solo that doesn't make sense, sounds like someone wants to get the points fast without trouble.

Though I think the healers should get full credit for healing but then again if all healers show up to hunts it could be a issue.

I do think they could lower the contribution requirements for full credit, but it should take more than just tagging the mark unless they want level 5 characters earning tomes at the same rate as level 50 characters. There's no level requirement on A and S rank hunts except for needing the ability to make a significant contribution. (And that's only required for full credit. You can get partial credit regardless. Ok, I haven't actually done it at level 5, but I did earn a few tomes once from an S rank that spawned right next to me when I was on a character who was about level 13 or 14 at the time.)

Actually, there is practically nothing you can do while waiting on a queue, except craft some low level crap and gather some. 45 secs simply is not enough time to finish a high level craft AND change gear. You can't have your chocobo out, so there no choco leveling or solo fate/atma/alex/SBing (at least not with one hand tied behind your back), you can't join a group at all - also efficient for SB/fates/hunts. Joining the DF is for many people 30 minutes sitting around with their thumbs up their proverbial, wishing they could do some other content without risking getting pinged for withdrawing. These problems only get worse quiet times of the day or on lower population servers.

Yeah, the whole hunt system is seriously flawed. Though, it always has been to be fair. There needs to be a better system in place for getting credit for kills, because the current system fails on just about every level possible.

Sooo according to you the only people doing all the work are the 8 man party that is reporting to a LS/shouts. Really?

I was doing hunts to pass the time, I hunted alone, searched the zones on my own over and over and over during windows. I was often the first person to find them. I shouted/reported FC/LS etc... Even helped by triggering a few S ranks.

Then another group comes along and starts: Pull in N minutes, mark found etc... And to top it off generally not a single person from that group was in the zone before my shout. After their shouts the horde shows up. And not a single person there thinks... hmm who found this first, do they have their group, should we ask and invite if not? No. If you pulled with your party(if your friends weren't busy with other things at the time and actually made it to you) you instantly got branded as a ninja puller(what I found more amusing was the whole "blacklist person for ninja pulling" - you are aware if you blacklist the person that reported the hunt it means you won't see those reports again?). Sorry we found it our call if we want to pull. After a while I stopped bothering with the shouts and just let friends know and we would 8 man it or maybe another party would join us along the way.

Only once ever did anyone ask in shout after an S rank pop as to who popped it. ONCE! And then they offered to invite to party. And even with that exchange another group quickly started "pulling in N minutes blah blah"

So you are saying these people should get all the credit because they show up and take charge like they are the ones that found it? Most 8 man parties that were fully invested in hunts didn't bother reporting A ranks... they just killed them on the spot and moved on to the next one(knowing a few people that did this - and most of them were raiders as well).

So yes people other than the "doing all the work" as you put it deserve "full credit" because you don't know who really did all the work. That's why I support that solo hunters should be able to get full credit on any hunt mark. If you are there at start this should be without question. If you come in at 50% is another matter. But the peak damage for full credit done by a single player should be set to a point where if you know your job and can do it properly you can put enough DPS/enmity(this for tanks and healers) over let's say 70% of the fight(to account for unexpected mechanics, deaths, etc...). Also up the difficulty of the S ranks... Why does it takes like 10 minutes for Odin to die while an S rank is gone in a minute. Make S ranks be on par with Odin and Behemoth fates or atleast half of them that way everyone has a chance to participate.

If you want only those that do all the work to get credit then simply put a claim on the mob as a party and nobody else can get any credit. I'd be happy with that myself. You find it you activate a claim action and it's yours no matter who comes after.

A rank 1-2 parties can do a claim action and S rank idk... 3 or 6 parties can do a claim action.

Not likely to happen though. But it would make hunts a little bit more interesting and competitive.


And here's a different suggestion for the pop items and stuff...

Instance a zone in the world and only those people in that zone could participate. Something like a GC intervention is what I would put it lore wise.
You could get one pop/participation(you pick one - either you are organizing it or you are participating - it could also be the same one and gets used up when you are in such a zone at time of activation) item per week from a GC quest and when you activate it the area activates something like a FATE with the outside edge guarded by GC NPCs and some lore about whatever mark you are fighting in a info window like in a FATE(think this would be something along the lines of a cutscene as well - GC NPCs rushing to contain an area, their commander giving you the go ahead nod and such).

People that are in that lock in area at activation are the only ones that can participate. You can leave and reenter the area if you were there when it was popped but nobody new can enter after pop.

I would say the mark that pops is based on zone it's activated with 1 unique per zone and 2 or 3 common between the general area(than, la nos, shroud, coerthas+mor dhona) and 3-4 common to ALL areas. They should all have some decent mechanics -- shouldn't be pure faceroll after all. RNG would pick one of the above at pop and it would spawn in the intervention area. To make it a bit predictable I would say the lock in area itself shouldn't be much larger than sacred soil but the size of the intervention zone can be as big as largest FATE zones and it should appear in one of the cardinal directions off from the lock in area. This way it gives the people popping time to prepare.

This I feel would give some interesting FC/LS group activity.

And yes I know I'm ranting at this point.

Hunts bring out the absolute worst in people.

Complaining about early pulls sand such we lets make a new rule.

FROM HERE ON OUT NONE MAY PULL TILL THE WHOLE SERVER IS THERE SO 2 HOURS AFTER FIRST SIGHTING.

is what the hunt LS people would say.

But naw lets just go ahead and pull no need to wait for whole server.

When i am gathering or mining and a A-Rank or S-Rank pop next to me its always surprising me how fast it was found from huntparties...
Well, i dont say something about cheating, because when 24+ players running around the map its normal someone sees it too, but still its surprising... (if you know the timers you can predict next span)

I remember a sunday or saturday morning. I was in Mor Dhona saw shout Kurrea <pos> as it was only few steps away from port I thought why not went over the person invited me to party. He kept shouting put a partyfinder we spammed linkshells/FCs - noone came. Ten minutes waiting nothing happened we went hmm why not and pulled (kept shouting and stuff). Rarely had such a fun killing a Huntmark (dem sleeps XD) some people showed up and went away that it was only 2 manish and would take a bit longer. In the end we 2 manned (chocos kept insta dieing so we let em be) till 85% then like 5 ppl joined us on pf.
Killing Kurrea took 15-20mins there and guess what? Kurrea died and all you see is complaining why did NOTHING to inform the server....

Ok, i'll give it a try, however, on Adamantoise, i need to be in place at the time the boss spawns.
Time from the announcement to teleport to arrival, where the boss is, is usually way too late,
boss is almost dead. Cant form new party quick enough. Adamantoise players are impatient
for the fight to start.

Slightly off topic comment, if I may.
According to either Reddit or another website
if a player names Chocobo after a hunt boss, like Nandi,
every time S/he summons Chocobo, battle-bots appear.

I never said there weren't solo queues in that whole sentence did I? I pointed out that they exist for reasons that don't support the point that you were making. NOT that there weren't solo queues. Reading comprehension is an amazing thing.

And in another post I asked why should I be punished cause I want to do roulette and help new people. Why should I not be able to get full credits on hunts cause I am queueing for low level roulette and helping out new players.
Not a lot of things to do while in queue, crafting low level stuff (as you don't have enough time to finish things if queue pops so you'll have to end up NQ it)
Fates but if you are on another class there's a chance you won't leave combat within 45 seconds
So usually I and I believe others too just afk til it pops. Instead we could've joined in hunt battles and would get something out of that long queue time
