Funny thing about the little FATE descriptions, many of them have lore tied into then. I think Anonymoose's thread actually uses a lot of the FATE descriptions for classifications and such.

I would not want to see the awesomeness that is Diabolos belittled with a pathetic looking Egi, that probably wouldn't be used because Contagion is too important.

They still have big boys (and girls) like Shiva, Ramuh, Alexander, and Phoenix to burn through, which would probably take years. They have to work in some of the others in other ways. I love that Diabolos will be in 2.2.

we don't even know the lore of the Lost City yet.... maybe the final cutscene has the Lambs summoning Diabolos? When Agrias crashes into Silvertear and those thousands of beams of light (each one, some type of primal) they went somewhere...don't rule anything out..(FYI Diabolos was a boss in FFXI for like 4 years before we got to challenge/fight/summon him).. I love the skeptical approach on, you know, stuff that isn't even out.....

maybe they will give you bahamut instead he should of been summon in xi !!

The devs have already stated that there will be no more egis for the game unless they increase the level cap. This means no Leviathan-Egi, at least not right now, and no Diabolos-Egi, also at least not right now. Maybe in the future, if you're good, and do as they say, and buy what they want, and kiss their toes. Really though, as cool as everything is, like new tank jobs, and dps jobs, and healing jobs, and summons, plan on being disappointed when you don't get all that you want.

Unless of course he got a version of Contagion that worked with all DoTs from people in the party. Then Garuda would be unused, because Diabolos would wreck all.

I was sort of hoping something as dark and somewhat secret as diablos would have been put to better use than a 4 man.. HOWEVER i am extremely excited to fight this mofo tonight ♥♥

They seem to be shoving lesser know or used summons as dungeon bosses yeah, same thing with Siren. Next one will probably or hopefully be Doomtrain in Thanalan if they keep following the pattern of 1 new dungeon in a region and 2 HMs from previous dungeons in the other regions, could be something else like Quetzalcoatl though.

I think the only Primals (aside from elder primals like Bahamut, Midgarsomr, and Odin) are the ones that have a crystal element and loyal beastkin followers to their name in the game (Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan), so we wouldn't have gotten him as a summon anyway unless they start adding more. I think we'd get Ramuh and Shiva before we get a Diablos, Fenrir, or what have you in the future.

Maybe in the future Diablos will get a HM and EX, the Mamool Ja or Qirquin or something could worship him since they don't have a Primal god (well, that we know of, if they have one).

Diablos' FF8 entry and signature attack animation references are enough for me. I actually had a fan moment.

I think SE plan for summoners was to only release the original element summoners like Garuda, Ifrit, Titan, Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva has an egi. Bcz as you can see Bahamut, Odin, Siren, moogle and Diablo are just bosses. I mean we may get some into HM/XM fight, but not as a SMN egi.

This brings to mind a question I've wondered for a long time...who worships Bahamut? There has to be a lot of worshippers for him to be so big and powerful that it took a Time Crash/Reality Breaking Paradox/Fling A Light Into the Future/whatever made him freeze in time just to stop him.

And it was the Allagans who captured him into the orbit for thousands of years until Nael van Darnus got the idea to use it to crash Eorzea.
Because the only way to get rid of a primal seem to be capture him into a strong cage or kill the ones who summon the primal always. Because a primal can't die.

I think it's because there's like, no really consistent Wind-elemental summon in FF games. I mean aside from Garuda there is, off the top of my head, Pandemona (sp) and FF9's Fenrir. Out of a bird-lady, a purple tumor vacuum cleaner, and a wolf, bird-lady just makes the most sense to use for a wind-themed boss.

The question is just exactly how many egi's that will inevitably do almost the same things functionally do you people actually want? It's getting a little silly.

Why didn't you step up for Siren and Carbuncle too!?

(Yes, Carby is a summon, but not a primal nor an Egi, and after lv45 SMN can't summon it with the soul stone equipped either).

Siren is also a summon....

Give it a year and i think he will become a summon. And Siren to since in Final Fantasy games they are summons anyway. None of us know what SE have in mind to do with these 2 in year or so. So for now just watch and play and enjoy. SE might surprise you.

Whats next Fenrir a boss of Tam Tara Deepcroft hard Mode?

Amdapor is more than a dungeon, its the ruins of an ancient civilization, but most people in this game can't be bothered to care about the lore of the game they are playing. Amdapor keep/ruins gives us more clues about the umbral era during their time period. This is a civilization of people that misused/overused magic, and thus lead to an umbral era, diablos being a boss in something tied to this implies something much deeper for Amdapor, and more or less Eorzea now, they could of gotten so into various magics, and summoned Diablos, who still resides there now. It could be Ascian influence much like Good King Moggle Mog. So really,he's not a summon right now, but that does not mean "he wasn't summoned by someone" at some time! (Refer to smn 50 quest with Belias-egi). And that doesn't mean we won't see him again (I mean look at XI you fought diablos multiple times).

Odin is a primal lore wise, he's an elder primal, he and bahamut are the only two elder primals, well maybe Belias as mention in smn quest. That's a whole different level than regular primals, making it seem even more weird he's a roaming fate.

And to clear up a lot for people, an elder primal needs no worship. They are. They are on a different level than regular primals, who can only exist during an umbral era, it has been shown in game lore that Elder primals can be, regardless of umbral/astral eras. Odin was trapped in the Shroud (parts inaccessable to us) and unable to get into the regular parts, which changed during the calamity. Bahamut was imprisoned eon's ago by the Allagans, and so was Odin actually, Odin just broke his crystal seal. Every primal seeks to be "the only primal", but...they can never turn into an elder primal like Bahamut or Odin, much is not known about how they come to be. But some things look to be true like: they don't need to be summoned, they can survive regardless of umbral/astral era, and they are of such immense energy you just have to seal them to make em go away. Bahamut was obviously controlled by the allagans due to the technology on him, which is the same Twintania has controlling it. Odin, looks like he wiped out Queen Urth and her people, and an allagan hero defeated him, obviously by sealing him away in that crystal.

SPOILERS for those who haven't completed the main story up to date.

Are the Elder Primals like Hydaelyn, manifestations of the will of specific things in the world? We know Hydaelyn could be considered an Elder Primal and one who could technically be the caretaker of the "light" (kindness, hope, happiness, etc) of the world, and the Dark One is her twin, meaning he's the controller of the "dark". Does this mean Odin could be the will of the warriors of the world, and Bahamut is the will of those seeking destruction for all? Or could the Elder Primals just be Primals whose legends have grown so strong that the mere existence of the legends risen them to this state of power?

Diabolos is most likely a Voidsent in FFXIV lore. So still technically a summon, but not exactly one you would want to summon (Haukke Manor). The people of Amdapor most likely summoned him to use against the people of Nym. Chances are he was the cause of the Tonberry disease and upon releasing that disease, he demanded the Amdapor people to pay back in some way (whatever the Voidsent require). Chances are they refused, which is why their town lies in ruins, maybe.

Siren in FFXIV is also heavily implied to have once been many (thought wiped out by the people of Limsa Lominsa). Read the journal for the quest you "fight" her in, or the Pharos Sirius dungeon text.

Seriously, it's like you've never played this series before. A monster in one game is another games summon and vice versa. This happens frequently in this series.

OMG! Doom Train isn't a summon in this game like it is in VIII, or a boss fight like in VI! Going to CTRL-X wrist now!
