Funny enough, all of the outlaying islands look exactly the same except one with a "Ancient Library" type of place that you can't interact with.

Now that I've done a quest or two, it appears it's used for blacksmith questline.

he was supposed to develop content in the 6 months hes been there, people want to know if he has, they are asking him about the future, and his progress on something people saw in development and liked 9 months ago. Since he claims that they have multi teams working on everything and they have different dates, this a viable question. he also says he is waiting on battle to release a lot of his content.

Its doubly talk because people are asking about progress made, and future plans, and he is answering that the game as it was 9 months ago doesnt have a use for it.

people already knew there was no use for ships in game right now, they wanted to know if he made the ships and gave them a use or plans to.

they are mad at his answers because it makes the company look incompetent that they had an idea 9 months ago and have either made no progress, nor figured out how to make progress, and look like they are not really developing content, but merely saying they are, and doing nothing with thier time.

they are justified in that.

yoshi hasn't finished it because tanaka hadn't started it and he is not smart enough to figure out anything by himself. this is something you could have a group meeting with among your staff and have 500 things these would be used for, but undoubtedly none of these guys have the intelligence of a rock to figure out one of them.

his job is to work on the game and give more things to do. he is failing on that part of his job. if he is not smart enough to figure out how to add things to the game for people to do they should fire the entire group. at this point se is proving they are no longer honorable and fell down to a 3rd tier development team behind the indie companies.

I bet people will be complaining about glitchy content and saying "Soandso's MMO content plays out flawlessly, SE can't even add PvP correctly."

Yoshida's job was to fix the game and unless I've fallen behind in the times (I still play the first MUD I've joined almost 20 years ago, so I highly doubt it) content isn't what will fix what's wrong with this game as the problems goes to even the engine itself, not just the lack of things to do.

lol explaining fail with more fail, because yeah they have had zones and areas in the game from launch that STILL havent been given any use. In fact they have had most of the "new" resources developed on release. Very little has been added to this game that wasnt there on the day of release, in the files. And they still ahvent even used that up.

and to jennestia statement, the game needs content it was the most highly voted on thing in the poll. battle was number 2.

it doesn't matter where they add content. i could care less if they make a whole new continent to travel to as long as it is content to do. the game is boring and dying. they are dying because the development team is failing to add things for the people to do so they have gotten bored of the same leves every 36 hours and moved on.

the point was these things were discussed at the beginning just like the other 2 cities were and would be just as welcome to be added. more so in my opinion because it would be the first time i have seen a mmo use multiple different crafts at once to join together to do something that is not going out to battle. at least coerthas and mor dhona has nm's in them and quests that take you there.

Correction -- it was the highest voted in the west. In the east it was the battle system and socialization -- making both of them equal concerns. However the game's problems lie beyond lack of content. The game needs content but it also needs a better foundation to build said content on or it would be meaningless.

A lot of people said "just give us something to do", so they gave us side quests and guildtasks, people still complained so they can't just give us content to give us content, they literally have to "strike gold" every time based on how to the community, they do everything wrong.

Well, when they've scored so terribly from Beta to date, it does make sense that they have to knock a few out of the park in a row to raise the average. By any metric you can use, the pace at which *anything* is coming out, whether it's content or changes, is glacial. And this is considering that they've got some content clearly stacked in the corner that they're holding onto for some reason.

All signs point to SE hoarding content for the PS3 release, in my mind, and the two new dungeons are just throwing us a bone.

Yeah. It's why I hope the dungeons are long lasting or constantly updated (tier wise maybe) till the PS3 release, which it does feel like they're holding out for it to give a reason to pick up the game.

the east overall voted battle and the west overall voted content, but total number of players votes? content overall.

and guild tasks? can only be called a place holder, how else do you explain a system that only has items up to rank 10 and gives you less exp than you can get with 1 synth. If that is their idea of content ..... its really sad.

I was really surprised the system didn't give out guild marks. It seems like the original intent was to make it a gil sink but then they never finished it.

i love the cherry picking of numbers to suit your case. that fact is the overall number of people taken in the total poll wanted content first. my house voted along with the majority of the total players not the players in one particular region. you can argue that it is a east vs west thing all you want, but the MAJORITY overall voted in line with the west. it is not an equal concern when the MAJORITY votes and the vote results are to one side. equal would be if one side voted one way and the other voted the other and the results came out to an overall even number of votes total.

Just wanted to pop in and say, Thanks to the OP for the translation. Very much appreciated. It's good to know the JP side shares our concerns, and it's good to know that the dev team is aware of those concerns.

The problem is they can't do content first and then do the battle system after because then all that content they added would need adjusting. Plus without a good battle system a lot of content would be lacking. I am glad SE did things this way around, they are fixing the core of the game first and then once that is complete they can add content, content and even more content for the rest of the games life.

It does suck for us that have to wait and play with hardly any content but SE made the right decision on tackling the problems. If it will all be worth it though is something we will have to wait and see.

Therefore, the "majority" votes means nothing when you take into consideration NA/EU have twice the amount of voters than Japan does just on a logistics scale, however Japan's majority vote were infact not for content, but majority of NA's votes were for content, while EU was tipping towards content and various other things.

I can promise you Blizzard wouldn't ignore what the NA gamers want and focus on what the chinese gamers want and as far as I'm concerned, China has more people than 10 Americas ontop of each other.

self-motivated contents like company-based projects, exploration, and combat/pvp is more efficient development-wise, considering that the content is repeatable without seeming unnatural (unlike guildleves and instances, for example).

Why you need combat to make a cake and be on a boat.

Battle system = priority = paves way to actually adding meaningful content = what I can promise most people care for. They're only related in the fact this game isn't Crazy Cake Factory Online, nor is it Battleship Simulator 3000 Online. It's a Final Fantasy MMORPG and what comes with the general thought of FF and MMOs is fighting and raiding, not building cakes and ships.

When what most people care for gets out the way I'm pretty sure they'll happily let you build your cake and eat it too. Hell I like side activities in MMOs more than I do just fighting but I know the general gamer only cares for fighting and loot.

get facts straight then talk to me. she corrected someone for saying the majority voted for content and stated they were wrong. sorry but that statement was correct and she used cherry picking to state he was wrong. the majority of overall players voted for content and that is a fact. that is not cherry picking it is going by the total results.

No it does have to be battle content but then let's not forget Eorzea's redesign which we have no idea of how far they are going with that so adding anything into any zone could also need adjustment when that happens, and thus creating more work for them moving stuff around again and slowing things down even more.

omg then let's never add anything to the game at all because at some point in the future they may change something. if they have nothing to do now and then they make the battle adjustments and still have nothing to do the battle changes are worthless. people are still doing the exact same thing they did the day they got the game because that is all the game offers.

the word majority, means majority, it doesnt mean a certain elite group said battle, it means majority.
3-5 countries said content more actual players said content (even in japan content was a close second) If you do a survey to see what your playerbase wants, and the playerbase says content. It means content is the most important thing to you re player base.

Far as the i cant do anything before battle, its kind of bullshit battle only relates to battle. unless they have only 3 people to spread across all facets of the game, there is no reason that they havent developed crafting, or fixed LShells. the fix for linkshells was supposed to be player companies, linkshells in this game were supposed to be just small collections of people/chat groups, Companies were supposed to the real collection of players/guilds, they were supposed to have companies ready pretty soon after november. Yoshida decided to scrap it. Ask the people bitching about the lack of LS controls/features and things to do with their ls if a bigger better LS with more options and content is worthwhile and i think you know what the answer would have been.

He uses the we had to wait on battle as blanket answer to explain and excuse all the games flaws. Its just bull, there is obviously some inaccuracy here, either he is failing totally and utterly as a developer, or he is just telling people things to mollify them, because the overall strategy they are planning isnt one players would like to hear.

If NA has 80% Votes for Content, EU has 67.7% votes for content and Japan has 70% votes for Battle Overhaul, would you say Content is what the majority wants? Simply because two different bases vote for the same thing? I think the problem you're having is you're lumping NA and EU together to say they're the "majority".

Majority of Japanese votes went towards Battle system, so by the logic laid out in this thread, Battle system overhaul is what the majority wants.

Tanaka essentially created Final Craftasy XIV.

He seemed to have lots of ideas of how fun crafting would be, solo and in groups. Battle and Content were afterthoughts of what you could do after you donned your newly crafted item(s).

I'm not knocking crafters. I know many peeps love it and I am thankful you do when I need items and gears and stuffs.
It just seems obvious that the Old Team spent alot of time on DOH & DOL and not as much on everything else.

edit: yoshi is doing just like tanaka. he got opinions of the players and said "no, i want to do things my way". this is the very complaint people had against tanaka during the beta forums for not making the corrections needed. yoshi got the opinions of players through a poll because he thought they would fall in line with what he wanted, but since they didn't he decided to do it anyways.

Give us a day, we'll have like 90 reasons why we should craft in a group.

edit to be on topic: I'm one of the various North American's who voted for battle system adjustments. I thought "what good is new content if the battle system is meh and boring", and then I realized once they added quests this was to satiate the "content" people, and I knew it was a half-assed attempt at it. If quests were effing content, I would take bake quests to get my battle system adjustment sooner, just sayin'

The game is quite simply understaffed, to the point where they cannot even do so much as add jump without doing a fiscal survey first.

We shouldn't have to prove why features like naval combat and exploration, mounts, jump, and group activities should be beneficial to a social, adventure-based platform like an MMO. It's merely a question of how to include them rather than whether.

Why does everyone have to make a federal case out of everything? Just implement something already, omg.

He may have had lots of ideas, but the crafting system he approved for final retail release of FF14 is not fun at all.

If they spent a lot of time, then it was a lot of time wasted because the crafting and gathering systems in this game are chock full of flaws.
