I am still very steamed up about these damn nerfs, and lets not be pretty about it and try to sugar coat it ok, if it takes complex math and a paragraph explanation to get across some off the wall reason why it is a buff then it's all smoke and mirrors. Fact is both healers the BEST balanced class in the game. Thank you S.E. team for clearly breaking the best Zen you had accomplished. This choice is truly worthy of 1.0 mentality.
WHITE MAGE is Final Fantasy's poster child healer. Anything else is nice, but clear FF tradition we are the go to when in trouble class...Did you see a bunch of Fighter, MNK, BLM, RDM parties in FF1??? Nope you needed that trusty Red and White. However the effing fairy gets to out cure me??? Our Mana management is the hardest of the mage classes as it is and now our go to spell is our costliest?? WTF? You know what?, I am sticking to SMN for now which thank you for only raping me a little there at least you fixed my bane, talk to the career WHMs after you fix what you done gone brokedipated, you have dishonored a legacy forged through what is the history of the most influential RPG series in the ever. WHMs everywhere are crying, Garnet is not pleased /no
Because your "arguments" are completely wrong and you will notice it by yourself when you start healing in coil.
Tell me which boss mechanics rely on "burst damage" beside Primals? Which need to have a topped up group very fast. And you still can solo heal this so called "Burst Damage". (When a SCH with a 150 potency (with shield) AoE can do it, a WHM with a 300 potency or 150 + 50 potency regen over 30 sec can do it too without problems.)
Why do you keep ignoring Eos?
I already have started healing in Coil. You just can't help yourself. I don't know why you feel so compelled to attack my credentials...in possibly the most ignorant way. Date my WHM achievement was completed? Really? Sorry it doesn't take everyone 3 months to hit 50 and start raiding.
I have to agree with everything said above, and I don't see any real buffs here aside from Cure III.
If Overcure is to be effective for "big, expected" damage, while awarding a mana reduction (which would be pointless if you had to cast a single Cure II more in order to get that reduction), it needs to not work as pure RNG, either normalized, so that it'll go off both approximately every 3 hits and once per minute (proc rate dropping with procs and regenerating with time and perhaps number of casts), or an entirely different mechanic, or at the absolute least it needs its buff duration increased so that no procs go to waste.
The new Overcure only seems to ease up flexible, non-intensive healing of a stacked ranged group, which is itself often impossible. But why use that over 1050 total potency Regen at about the same cost across 4 targets if the healer doesn't have to keep everyone topped off and the damage doesn't come in (party-wide or split-AoE) bursts...
I wouldn't mind seeing Med II's initial heal reduced, mana cost reduced, and the regen extended to 20 or at most 25 seconds, such as to be used for a pre-heal, the first tick of which would go off alongside a Medica I, but I don't see any use for the full initial value and such a weak tick.
eh?
ADS's laser?
even a slipped out High Voltage?
T4 mobs pull each phrase before OT successfully grab them?
enrage?
conflag?
even fireball?
idk, maybe none of them and i always misused MedicaII in wrong situation
btw, SCH has Eos and she always has Whispering Dawn at disposal, unless not steady
Because i still prefer Selene over Eos :). This AoE heal was never needed and still isn't (yet, for me). And you still didn't answered my question. And i attack your "credentials" because you are one of this guys which is rerolling his class because they think they are "better"(OP!!111!11!) without knowing anything about SCH, and suck at the end with it. (See at the SCH bashing at the start of ffxiv 2.0).
ADS laser? rly? your team shouldn't be hit by it and if it happens only 1~2 players. No need for a Medica 2 here.
High Voltage, can happen. A medica will help but there is no -extrem- need for your team being topped up asap.
T4 Mobs, your OT does something wrong or your dd's goes to fast for the adds. And srsly, using Medica 2 in t4 can be a fast selfkill. (Just timed it wrong, now its much harder with 30 sec thats true)
While enrage you should spam medica 1 and not 2.
Fireball, depends on tactic we only need to heal 1. Throwing a Medica 2 for this is wasted mana.
My reaction to this.

hello? ADS do AoE damage all the time so we need MedicaII to filled HP up all time to prevent anyone oneshotting by laser
but this one still can be arguable with new MedicaII 30s should serve better(if new potency is enough potent)
but it might be the only case where 30s will be better than 15s tho
how in hell a bloody single Medica could help when HV eat up 40-60% of whole party?
and that much you don't need them topped up asap? even tho there might be incoming AoE and the party might got unluckily paralyzed?
you must be a sadistic who has an enjoyment observing the racing between HPbar ticking and the incoming damage if the party will died from another hit within 30s then
my OT is good, I never have a problem agro in T4. stills, there are AoE threat to the party while OT is grabbing, such as Knight cleave, and I will want my party topped asap ideally with only single cast because the OT defensive buffs wearing off every second I cast a spell to patch up party members, and when everything on CD he can't be left alone even a second
and again, who in the right mind spamming MedicaII WHILE HoT STILL TICKING?
ofc, MedicaII is only the upfront and helping with regeneration to topped up with another Medica or CureIII
not even need to start how lessen regen potency effect this
so is fireball
This game has honestly been the first MMO I have ever played where people were honestly arguing that a 1/2 hps nerf bat to the face was better. Medica II's overall "in theory" cost/reward might be the same, but with the hps at 1/2 the original I no longer intend to us it as my go to ability for recovery(it isn't going to be cure III either). This game isn't about sustained healing. Hell, no MMO has been about sustained healing for ages now. It comes down to how you can handle bursts and recovery, which if you blocked a good portion of the burst to begin with, makes recovery that much easier. I will continue to play WHM, but overall SCH is hands down the better pick simply because mitigating and small recovery requirements has always been, and always will be the king of healing in all MMO's.
How did you ever beat T5 when you have no idea what Medica II was useful for? The potent heal over time meant it restored more HP than Medica and it only takes a few ticks to get there. It is ideal for big cures in fights like Garuda or Titan and countless occasions in coil. Slicing that HoT in half has no benefits, since you'll be forced to supplement heals with another spell, meaning your team will more likely be capped for the remaining ticks.
Cure 3 is increased by a measly 2y. That's it. On any fights worth a darn, you still can't hit the DPS because they rarely clump together because of AoE damage concerns. The half MP is pathetic compared to the guaranteed crit of its predecessor, which is very handy when you need big cures in a hurry.
Lustrate I could care less about. It's supposed to be a Scholar's big cure anyway, so I really don't have much to add here. We WHM's have Benediction, which in my mind more than makes up for it.
i dont mind the halfing of the ammount with the longer duration imo what i am more interested of with that skill is if it will still generate the same ammount of threat or half that.. but regardless with the lowering of the cast time of other skills basically it will be a op single target healer while the scholar can pick up what is lost aoeing as they are more self reliant on mp
I'd imagine that Med II will generate the same amount of threat (bottom line), but it will take twice as long to accumulate. This could give our tanks an easier time maintaining their aggro over ours; which could in turn allow us to use more heals. Not to mention they are getting a threat boost like stated below. Difficulties with MP management may become more apparent to us WHMs now which is what I'm more concerned with. But I am still currently downloading the new patch and haven't gotten a chance to try it out so I don't know for sure. Using an added Regen may be more of a viable option now to.
Honestly, anyone citing enmity concerns as a reason why Medica 2 is now better needs to learn how to play their job better or find a better tank. I've never had any serious issues with pulling aggro no matter how often I use Medica 2, and even when I have a poor tank, it's usually the DPS who are attacked before me. So, while Medica 2 might now take longer to hit the same amount of enmity, it's meaningless since smart players don't need to worry about it as much.
Yeah, the only time I ever had aggro issues was me with my +1 was using DF and getting a fresh 50 tank. Even then I would just adjust, and use stone skin/cure I to stay under the radar. With Full darklight and +1 the Medica II hot is now avg 130/tick. Its depressing.
This needs to happen!
Holy necro batman
Lol and here i thought this was a giant knee jerk reaction from SE to the outcry here.
They aren't going to react to jealousy from other classes over the AST buffs.
Arise, necro-thread! I summon thee!
OMG WHM>Necromancer confirmed.
hm, hm, hm... the crit buff was waaaay better on cure 3. with the 100% crit you had a heal better than a (non crit) cure 2. so the cure 2 trait does make sense. when do you use a cure 3 after cure 2? sometimes probably, yes, but the new trait is meh. the increased range was necessary.
medica 2 is NOT a shield. before the "buff" you could cast a medica 2 and the 100 potency HoT topped the people to 100% health in no time. i can understand that this was a bit op, but if you have to make changes here please don't call it a buff :O
on top of that we lose thunder from blm and got this stupid ice aoe instead? and the lowered potency from holy...
if that was a "buff" i don't want to see what happens when you actually nerf the class :x
