This is also good advice. Both on this instance and in the hardmode Titan, you won't finish unless everyone works together. If one person consistently dies, politely inform them that you will replace them. I did this several times while working on hardmode Titan, and each time the person in question was very cool about it, and acknowledged they were the one slowing the group down. Keep improving the group and you'll get there.

I hear similar horror stories from friends or fc mates that they complete titan multiple levels after the quest level (generally 3 or so levels past), but nothing quite this terrible. I must be a lucky one, my group completed it on level, though we went through 3 tries before winning.

This matches my experience. I tried titan 3 days ago with my character (lv34 whm at the time) and went through more than 10 wipes in a single group, only getting to p3 twice. One of the dps would get knocked off by landslide, and then we either wouldn't have enough dps for the heart, or I'd run out of MP spamming stone 2 on the heart and wipe in p3.

Then 30 mins later I requeued, got a group that knew how the encounter worked, and 1-shot it... but that doesn't magically make my first experience any better.

... no, the encounter wasn't 'challenging', 'hard', or 'difficult'. It was 'frustrating' and 'unfun'. Worse yet, you MUST finish it if you want to progress with the story -- which is mandatory if you want to get to the endgame dungeons.

I didn't have that much issues, although I did drop of the column a couple of times. I noticed as WHM it was a bit more difficult than as PLD, mainly because I was lagging pretty severely, and basically had to keep running to be able to avoid landslide. Also, whenever I'm there as WHM, I always get imprisoned in stone ;)

As PLD, landslide never was directed at me, so didn't have to avoid it at all.

All that said, I'll gladly help anyone on Balmung with lower level dungeons/story mode trials/etc. Wish I could offer the same on other servers, but we'll need a cross-server friends list/party invite option for that first ;)

This, I made my FC to help people in situations just like this. It saddens me to see players unable to complete content without paying others or rolling the DF dice.

This trick has worked for me, but you have to use an instant cast/ability when exiting the aoe marker. I did storymode titian prior to learning this with some of my ls members, and I just parked my self in the center for most of the fight so that even if I did get hit with landslide, I wouldn't get knocked off. It still took us most of the instance timer to win. I'm really not looking forward to HM titian.

Ok,I thought I was the only one. I was in a DF group last night. I figured everything out about this fight the first wipe. It's really not hard to figure out. However, that was not the case for my group. I'm 38 now, and I'm sure they were better geared and higher level than me and they were still wiping.

Whm couldn't stay alive, tank kept falling off and would not dodge red markings, and the dragoon would not dodge them either. It was like I was in the twilight zone.... Hopefully I find a good group after work.

PLease yoship hurry up with those world transfers this insanity without my friends is killing me!!!!!

Titan Story mode is nothing compared to what lies ahead. If you had trouble with Titan Story and gave up on it for 20 levels, then you're gonna have a helluva time with the next dungeons and HM Primals.

With that said, I encourage you to look for a more active FC and to look at storyline Titan on youtube. If you have a group who know when to move and to know to hit his heart, the storyline is very easy.

The problem is you are doing it in duty...that is a gamble...you never know what you're gonna get...maybe even a full group of Fate Fannies

Seeing as i did this the first week, things may have changed with attitudes, but when i did it, not one of the group knew what to do. We all learned as we went, and even after many, many wipes, we got it. I'm guessing a lot of people drop after a wipe or two, as once you get past a phase, you should have it down. Even once, later, all but the tank died (frankly our own mistakes) with a bit of health left on titan, and he basically soloed it down.

The attitudes of people now see much worse, not sure why. Seems people don't want to put any effort into it.

1. To anyone on OP's server (Leviathan) who's done Titan story mode: please help him win this! :) Seriously, form a party of 3 complementary to his main job, group him and just get it done.
2. To OP: your FC seems pretty bad from what you're saying —no one even responding? huh… what kind of FC is that?! You should leave them be in their silent mindset and find some friendly and sharing players to party with! ;)

If you were on my server I would help you with it. Helped 3 friends of mine do it we had 2 tanks and 2 monks. I healed it as a paladin lol.

Just beat it. Just took some trial and error as a team saying what we needed to work on and doing it.

I'm convinced some people just post obviously stupid stuff to troll the Official Forums and be an attention wh!@$. I refuse to believe that OP is serious.

Believe what you want, but I experienced a similar wipefest on Titan myself -- in fact, it was the first time I saw a pug fail in this game. Of course I got lucky with another DF pug shortly thereafter, so who knows? /shrug

I didn't think you were asking for a nerf I was more pointing out the fact that you have done this so many time and as you say the others in your group keep failing sooo many times. This says a lot about the player base. I have a lot of respect that you tried over and over and have not given up but I feel bad that the playerbase as a whole is so bad at this easy game. I see it everyday when DFing anything just about.

Glad you won but let me tell one thing... you said you were in a FC and they never talk plus did you asked them for help and they refused? If they did or just ignored you then you are not in a good FC. It was better you changed to a more lively and helpful FC :)

There are too many factors at play here to easily dismiss the entire playerbase as being "bad." There are severe latency issues with many people around the world right now, there's the complete anonymity of the duty finder breeding a careless attitude, there are many people who are very new to mmorpgs, and may even be new to gaming in general, and of course there's going to be players who are experimenting outside of their own comfort zones when it comes to RPGs (such as a person who has mastered tank classes for 15 years walking in the shoes of a healer for the very first time). My point is that you're playing this game with people from all walks of life and all walks of experience. An experienced player in a group of newbies can actually be the cancer of that group, as easily as a newbie can be in a group of experienced players.

this fight was so easy we did with 2 whm when we were helping a fc mate; but would I ever do it if I ever had the choice? no, because failing because of latency sucks, and that was exactly how I failed so many times when i first ran it. Towards the end, it was not about how to beat Titan, but how to best circumvent the latency issues, how to position myself to minimize the risk of being hit even when i was clearly out of landslide, how to be constantly on the move while still be able to heal etc.

so no, this fight IS a bitch if latency is a problem. I would do Garuda over and over again but would not touch Titan once if i have the choice...

My sister who is an MMO veteran (but sadly doesn't play herself anymore due to time), had to walk me through the harrowing, truly nerve wracking hands shaking experience that was... Sastasha. Yes yes. I know. It is a cakewalk. Even for me. But not all of us started this game with experience. Each new dungeon is a mix now for me, of things that are easy and "obvious", and things that are a bit nerve-wracking. Every mechanic in this game that depends on party dynamics is completely new to me, thus it is never going to be obvious.

It is has been the players of this game by and large who walked me through how to play the roles, because face it, this game dumps you in and expects to already know how to play an MMO. It has guildhests to help teach party role mechanics - but for new players they aren't that useful unless you play them more than once, but few do because there is so little incentive. I totally understand now how people consider the first few dungeons in this game to be easy and obvious. They are becoming that way for me too. But coming from the other side, there is nothing easy about them at first.

This is another topic, but that is something I don't understand the decision behind. SE must understand that as time goes by there be fewer and fewer new players going thru the storyline. So people that want to pick the game up in 3 -6 months time will have a harder time finding groups through DF, and will most likely need a FC to complete their storyline. If I was SE I would rather design some "challenging" and fun solo instances for the storyline, so that new players in the future wont hit a frustration wall where they feel they can't progress.

If your FC isn't willing to help you with that, then it is time to find a better FC, lol. That's why I haven't joined any FC yet, I am waiting for the free month to go out, so I only join people who are comitted to the game more than just an initial rush.
