Who all is familiar with the FFXI Meme "lolPS2 Limitations" ?
PS3 was already cut as it was limiting the game. Windows 32x is being cut as it is limiting the game.
LolSwitch Limitations. It will be cut as it would limit the game in terms of not just graphical fidelity, but also memory limitations as well as a host of other issues. While it is a neat console, it's not optimized for an MMO. Nintendo has historically been terrible to work with for online connectivity. They're only now with the Switch starting to get things right, and there's still a long way to go.
I'm sorry but your reply was all over the place and had less to do with the subject at hand and more about what you think of me and how innocent you are rather than the topic, if you're going to continue derailing the subject of the thread I'm sorry but I won't feed you. Continue discussing the subject itself with the other members of the forum.
Ironically, you left out the part of her last post where she was discussing the subject itself with 2 other members of the forum.
Not only that, but you're the one who initially attacked her and derailed the thread over hurt feelings because of her opinion (post# 385). So now because you have no further arguments, or are tired of arguing, she's the one derailing the subject?
The truth of the matter is, this is a forum for all players to enter and leave the conversations, she wasn't having the conversation in a private chat that I'm not supposed to join the conversation in the thread and everyone can enter or leave the discussion as they wish, so asking her for the reasons as to why she hates something like Mario easter eggs in the game and why she does not mind having Yokai Watch, does not mean that she should get over-sensitive and turn around with:
I simply sarcastically suggested that if she hates Nintendo easter eggs in FFXIV that much then what about Yokai Watch, which by the way, is also a very much Nintendo dedicated Pokemon-like franchise. But she had to turn around and claim that I get upset every time someone disagrees with a Switch port of the game when she does not even know me.
Sorry but sometimes things are not the way we want them to be so I had to remind her that, yet still she came back as if I am the one insisting on a Switch port when all that I did was show that I don't mind having it on the console. Not minding does not mean insisting. It can be seen from the explanations on my previous posts.
And by the way, you yourself have come into a conversation you were not part of, it was between 2 members of the forum, yet you had the liberty to. Do you understand how a forum works now?
*blinks and decides to check the forum*
I'm the over-sensitive one? When I have since dropped the conversation because it's no longer in my interest to converse with someone who's extremely full of themselves and despite claiming that they don't have time to feed into the conversation, they continue to drag it out by their own merit any time that they're met with criticism? Yet, I'm the over-sensitive one?

I've been playing other games all day long, wooooow, lol.
Either way, as I have said earlier, if Yoshi and his team see that it's what they want to do then I'm up for it, and if they see that it will sacrifice things towards a destination where they don't wish the game is to be going towards and won't be successful then I'm fine with it.
It may go either ways, as I said, but I still assume that the team are the most knowledgeable in what they want for the game and at the end of the day, while I support the game through my own money, it still is their game and I prefer developers have the liberty in the choices they make for their games. If someone suddenly doesn't like a choice or choices they made to a point where it has made the game unplayable, they're free to stop supporting the game and continue with their life. It's an MMORPG and the choices are made for several types of audiences.
Reviving this thread out of boredom...
Right now FF14 team would need to wait for a more powerful Nintendo Switch console to be released for it to work and not have PS3 and 32bit limitations to be a thing again...
Mostly a wait and see approach...
NO. let the kids stick to their fortnites and switches.
If they did ever port to the Switch they would lose me as a customer for the simple fact I wouldn't want to have to deal with

Switch Limitations
IMO currently the primary switch limitation is storage. Switch core storage actually is quite small. A game like FFXIV would require expanding it with a micro SD card. The cause of this is that at its core the switch is really a handheld system like the DS and was a move to essentially go from having separate console and handheld systems into just having a single hardware piece. What I would probably ask for more than FFXIV on switch would be for them to finally port Dragon Quest X outside Japan on that console since it was originally on either the Wii or Wii U.
Even the new Nintendo Switch releasing this year they stated the old one will still be able to run all Switch games.
It wont be until the Nintendo Switch 2 releases in roughly 3 years for us to expect them to look at the option again.
Or Shadowbringers grants the dev team the opportunity to have a beta test for the switch version to see how well it would perform for switch owners. There really is no reason for FF14 just stuck on PC or even PS4, and they would make more money by having it available to all gaming consoles as well as having it on PC.
FFXI was exclusive to PS2 and PC for awhile before SE took a step to make it available on xbox 360 for a short period of time before dropping the platform. At the moment I'm not sure if they officially dropped PS2 support at some point after the moogle mini expansion since I stopped playing it on a regular basis a little while after that released. If they did its likely now PC exclusive as I also cant recall it ever being ported to PS3. There was some talk a bit ago about them making a mobile version for smartphones and tablets.
However the thing about cross platform online games is its rarely the game developer causing the issues. Most Online games are separated by platform. Many times PC is off on its own as well while others link PC with 1 console which is the case here. So most likely the primary hinderance of seeing FFXIV on another console is going to be coming to an agreement with the console makers and their terms in regards to online usage though their respective networks for the game.
Please don't make this happen.
I have a switch. I don't need to play ffxiv on that.
Here is why...
------S----PS4
RAM 4GB 8GB
HDD 32GB 500GB
RES 720p 1080p
WE don't need something to hold back FFXIV
by all means let's go back to PS3 limitations.
Not nearly as powerful as the PS4 however, and we already are dealing with 'PS4 limitations' in that regard. The Switch isn't as much of a deadweight compared to the PS3, and for a handheld it's remarkably powerful and it finally has a decent corner on affordable memory cards to boot, but it is one none the less because it's one more shackle the developer's have to consider when designing their content.
The only way I could see it done is through a streaming service, just like they have RE7 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey running beautifully on Switch.
But it would likely be Japan only just like those games are.
eh just use the vita to stream or steam link XD to play on the go.
if Nintendo get the game I hope they get a decent port.
I think would be cool to have it on switch maybe just not this current switch because way too much underpowered, So many switch 2 who knows :p
Most people who complain about "console limitations" forget that game consoles are basically super specially made gaming computers that you can hook up to your TV...
PS3 limitations and XBOX360 limitations was only a thing because of Sony and Microsoft trying to cut corners, and extremely tech savvy people know way more about that topic, since anyone can do a quick google search for the information they are looking for...
Marvel VS. Capcom 2 was never released on Nintendo Wii due to "Wii Limitations", even though they could have made a physical copy of the game for Wii owners, but they didn't...
If Square-Enix decides that they want to exclusively make games for just Nintendo and Microsoft because Sony is costing Square-Enix more money by being forced to censor a lot of things, including their own paying customers, then Square-Enix would more than likely making a good business decisions by listening to paying customers...
I am one of those people who would rather drop $300 on a gaming console than drop somewhere between $1000-$2000 for a gaming computer/laptop...
I also do not support streaming games especially single player games as a live service, mostly because of how unstable it is, and there is no real way to preserve the legacy of said games if streaming games to consoles becomes a mainstream...
And if Square-Enix announces an offline single player version of FF14 with local multiplayer for Nintendo Switch or Xbox One, I can guarantee that people will buy those consoles just for the single player experience... Bonus points if they allow you to use those game consoles for crossplay for the online only crowd that are on PC and PS4...
Never going to happen. Period.
Nintendo would have to opt in for a power house console,to go up against Sony and Microsoft.
They were on the right track with the Nintendo switch its just seems though they are just getting into the online scene practice makes perfect and when they perfect that then we'll probably see them catch up.
Right now switch would only drag down the game, probably why they got dragon quest online, though man I want that for the ps4 for the west but its wishful thinking, sega already held back phantasy star online 2 from west idk nobody seems to want to let us have the fun titles.
Does the Switch even have enough buttons?
It only has 2 shoulder buttons.
Do you mean two on both sides or just two in general? Because it has the standard two on both sides that the PS4 also employs.

Only if it was some sort of spin-off where you can use it for gathering/crafting/fishing and certain games in the golden saucer where the rewards can be synced to the 'main game' then sureeeeeee. Otherwise, no.
While in concept I'm all for FF XIV on more platforms, I don't know that the switch will hold up. I mean let's say that the Switch can handle Stormblood just fine for arguements sake, will it be able to handle Shadowbringers? Or the expansion after that? Will the online be stable? Nintendo's online service isn't exactly top notch.
I love my switch but I just don't feel like FFXIV on it would end well.
With them porting all thse FF games over though I would love a Tactics and Type 0 port for the Switch.
