Binding Coil of Bahamut Discussion

Curious on the progression part of Binding Coil.With one group, I cleared the first half of Turn 1 (ADS) and did not get done Cad. The next night I was in a brand new group that had not started turn 1 and they were worried that using my progress (me beating first mini boss) would make it so they don't get any loot after killing CAD.

Can anyone confirm that loot is altered if you skip the first mini boss, ADS, by using someone else's progress?

I thought that the issue was if you fully clear a Turn, not halfway clearing.

Loot in turn 1 is only dependent on killing Caduceus. The only restriction is that once you have fully cleared a turn, you cannot re-enter the turn (or if partially cleared, enter a turn less progressed than you.) They may, however, use your lockout with no penalty.

Nope. Loot is based on the boss, not the mini boss.

We also know how to reproduce this bug, but we (obviously) wiped when it happened, and stopped doing the thing that causes it. I doubt these are the only people who killed Twintania with it.

Lets talk a bit about turn 4.

Unfortunate I'm the only source of magic dmg in my Coil group. Do we have to make adjustment to the group and replace one of the 3 physical DDs with another BLM/SMN? Or is it possible with just 1 BLM?

Also any strat to follow? what to watch out for, what to focus on. Any info would help before we do our first serious attempt on Sunday.

It's totally possible to do with three physical DPS. Just remember to pop the soldiers as they don't do any damage and everyone can attack them during their pop. Work out the strat on your own from there, It is possible none the less.

Does anyone hope SE explains what they were thinking with Turn 5?

I'm really not enjoying having one healer get put in Conflag and the other healer get Fireball at the same time. It feels like an RNGfest.

Are you still trying to dump fireballs that come after conflags into the conflag? If so, yes, it could very well feel that way.

The timer on the first Fireball is totally random, and sometimes throws it off for the rest of the encounter.
She had four stacks, Fireball was coming out on one healer, and the other healer was targeted with Conflag shortly after, so that the Fireball and Conflag hit at roughly the same time.

Why does the timing matter? I guess I don't understand the problem. Are you trying to rely on running fireballs into conflag to survive? If so, you should probably look at other options for dealing with fireball/conflag.

You have to run some Fireballs into Conflag. If we soak the first two Fireballs in a row, she'll end up with full stacks of Waxing Flesh, resulting in the second conflag having 10 seconds before it explodes, which is impossible to DPS down unless you're limit breaking or maybe have something with stupidly high burst, like double BLM.

You should re-examine how waxen flesh works in conjunction with the timer on fireball and conflag duration.

So do you want to explain why we were getting 2 Fireballs between the first and second Conflag?
We spent 2 hours figuring out why the second Conflag was exploding at 10 seconds in 90% of attempts. It was because the second Fireball was coming while she still had stacks of Waxen Flesh. The result being that the stacks compounded on each other.
I'm not sure what you're doing, but if another Fireball is cast while Waxen Flesh is still on her, there's no way to survive unless you either sacrifice the next Conflag target or run one of the two Fireballs into an existing conflag.

We changed it around so every second Fireball is put into the Conflag, and we consistently survived, except for when something like both healers getting targeted at the same time happening.


Again, this is all caused by the fact that the first Fireball's timer after phase change is unpredictable. It's always cast at the same period after the first one, though.

So does anyone have any good logic behind twintania mechanics? We just started smashing our head on that wall tonight and alot of it is just confusing.

The triangle fire ball, is there anyway to avoid this? Also the boss drops a tiny little void zone under herself, does that have any significance to the fight at all?

Honestly, since this boss has not been killed legitimately. Don't expect a lot of hand holding through the encounter. ;)

Take a few attempts and see what each ability does.

Could anyone give me suggestion for healer position during the Sneak boss?

Our PT seem to have issue after they split up.
we do :
1 healer -> 1 tank, 1 bard, 1 DPS (x2 small group).

As a healer myself, I need to spam cure II at full speed in order to keep tank alive. But then the bard, and DPS need some heal too (due to random poison), and I also need to Esuna the bard when they get hit by "Heavy" when they are trying to pull the puddin to boss. (If I don't cast Esuna on them in time, they will die from boss AoE). So everytime, when I need to spare my time to regen (either DPS or bard) + Esuna the bard, the tank just died quickly. What should I do? or the PT need to change anything?

The ranged DPS if they are not on slime dragging duty (usually the bards does it) should not need healz at all. The poison is easily avoidable, your primary focus as a healer should be the MT until they split, when the split happens 99% chance he will target one of the 2 healers. Your second tank should reposition himself/herself just before the split happens to take agrro from you right away.

When did they relocate the forums to Salem? I have lots of experience with SE through the Salvage bans and beyond. I think these guys will be fine; it's repeated duplication of glitches that typically gets SE moving.

Maybe it has to do with server timers?
We spent like 3 hours using the strategy you're implying (soak all fireballs, burn all conflags) and 90% of the time, the third Fireball would go off just before Waxen Flesh dropped, resulting in it stacking on top of the previous stacks.
Sometimes it would go off just after it dropped, but those were very rare. It took us a while to realize the stacks were overlapping each other.

You also don't seem to understand what I'm talking about when I say that the first Fireball isn't on a consistent timer, which makes me think it's bugged.
We set a stop watch as soon as the Neurolink went down, and the times between that and the first Fireball varied by as much as, I think, 15 seconds.

Sorry if this is explained elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything on it. On Turn 4 does anyone know what causes Clockwork Soldiers and Knights to "open up" and become vulnerable to all types of damage and not just specifically magic or physical? It just seems kind of random to us and the soldiers are taking too long to kill.

It happens when their Stoneskin is broken. I think it re-applies if they channel for too long.

This is exactly what we're seeing, but much more often.

It sounds like your FC is just getting the encounter on easy mode or something, if this isn't happening to you.

I can tell you though that you don't have to use Xilrasis's brute force strategy - it probably works for them because of their group composition + extra gear (they were one of the first FCs into coil). There is nothing wrong with feeding fireballs unless we later find out there is a hard enrage timer and you need to shave some time off phase 2.

Our DPS was Monk and DRG though.

And about that, after split, do I usually need to heal anyone else? And what do you mean by poison is easy-avoidable? I think poison is 100% aim ? should I tell DPS to heal their own after split?

Ok, so this week we have finished Coil 4, everyone has +1 relics and all DL + some ilvl 90 Allagans. My question is this, the coil 5 dragons (may they burn in hell forever) have this debuff that does major fire problems. Does anyone know how much fire resist you need? I feel like this fight could be done with the right amount of fire resist. The fire resist potions that we tried were not enough.

Coil-1,2 are challenging, coil 3 is a breeze, coil 4 is a DPS race but easy if everyone is geared, but coil 5 is its own unique monster. It requires you to make your own fire resist gear =((

Again, does anyone have any information on how much resist you need?

I did not ask if it was defeated or not, I asked what the Fire Resist neccisary was. Our group can do it, we just arnt sure about how much Fire resist we need. We dont wanna spend 3 mil gil making fire mat caps unless we have to.

I'm sure it would be terribly hard and painful to not kill that monster that you've been trying to kill for weeks.

But it's not worth risking your account as well as the accounts of your friends out of satisfaction and curiosity. It never is.

SE can terminate their accounts because they warned them. If they do, SE will not be in the wrong.
