SAM and MNK need to be completely swapped in terms of numbers, SAM should be up there with BLM, not below MNK/DRG.
NIN still needs lots of tuning.
I disagree.
A good SAM should be over a good MNK, but a great monk should be over a great SAM.
Same would apply to DRG.
DPS with utility should have the opening to exceed pure DPS classes if the party they are in enables their rDPS to do so.
I never get why, because the class is squishy or else, you get to deal massively more damage.
As long as on the parse you're top DPS, squishy or not, you were still alive to deal thoses massive damage, so you're not so squishy enough... (plus you have tools that bring you more survival).
I think, if you were lowered to a DPS, sync with others Melee DPS, it would be rewarding enough despit the "squishyness and casting"...
Remember that healer does the important part, they keep you alive... !!
You keep BLM and SAM, they would still then be prefered in 9/10 parties. (Unless they think they are better than they are.)
The point, is that youd need the raw pdps of SAM and BLM to get those numbers, a dragoon tethering a monk should not give them as much rdps as SAM. A NIN putting trick up for a a DNC, SMN, and DRG would not net them as much rdps as it would with a SAM, BLM, and MCH.
The opposite would also be true, if a dps class with only a dps utility is unable to exceed a pdps (with max cooperation) why bring the utility. Dps utility is designed to raise raid dps, if it doesnt compare to pdps, just bring pdps, cuz those with utility are basically useless, no?
Honestly, if drg and nin had utility otherbthan dpsing increase, then SAM should by all by all accounts remaim om highest damage, but they wanted to go away from that with NIN... which its one utility, barely has an effect atm
Just remove all the utility from DPS.
Give those to healers, or create an new group of jobs called 'enchanters'
